A staple in League City, The Burger House has been around since we moved here. The building is a little worn, but the food is very good! We eat here at least once a month when we want an old fashioned burger and fries! Hubby gets the half-pound burger, I like the fried fish. The service is fast, drinks a refillable and they have a bar for you to make the burger your own. I personally love the sweet potato fries and have stopped in the drive through just for an order. Visiting from another state and staying about 30 minutes away. I was looking for a char grilled burger and google added this location. I decided to drive the 30 minutes to try based on it being chat grilled and other reviews. I pulled up to what looked like a former fast food restaurant with a drive thru and thought "oh no, it's fast food?" I parked and ordered anyway. The interior is very mom and pop and the dining room and rest rooms are in need of an update. I ordered the 1/2 lb burger and a small order of fries. When my food was ready the cashier called my number and i picked up from the counter where it was placed. I was directed to the buffet bar where I can get lettuce, onion, and mayo (along with a few other toppings). After seeing the layout of everything I was not sure if my order was going to taste like what I drove 30 minutes for. When I tasted the burger it was definitely what I was looking for and definitely 1/2lb! The fries came seasoned with some sort of seasoning which I don't really care for but were tasty. Overall I have to say, this place had a good char grilled burger and fries and the price was very affordable. If I stayed in the area I would definitely recommend. Divey burger joints usually get there for the cholesterol-laden goodness. This place? It's just OK. First, it's clean and quaint with much Pepsi-themed kitsch adorning the walls. (Bathroom was filthy though ... at noon, no less.) The service here is really clutch. The burgers though? I had a half-pound "Black Angus" and it just felt like I was eating a 95-5 (fat ratio) mix ... slightly rubbery. Not terrible by any means, but just not great. And not worth the price point. (Another reviewer mentioned that this place is "super cheap." Not true. In fact, Stomp's and Hubcap are less expensive.) That said, our orders were hot and fresh ... and correct. They use Romaine lettuce here, and that's a good thing. I'm a sucker for crinkle-cut fries and these certainly hit the spot. The buns here are also some of the best I've had -- anywhere. Stopped by here for a late lunch. I had the 40z burger with mushrooms, my son had their special bulgogi burger with an egg on top. My husband had the 6 ox cheeseburger. My husband and I got tots and our son had the onion rings. Walking in the place gives you a mom and pop vibe. The decor reflects that old timey feeling.. My husband and I really enjoyed our burgers, they were cooked and seasoned just right. Came on a toasted , fresh homemade bun. The burger comes on a tray with your side and the toppings ( lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles) are put on the side . I like this because your bun doesn't get soggy everything is fresh. The tots were super crispy. My son had the bulgogi burger and he loved it. He especially enjoyed his onion rings , he said they were crispy, flavorful and bite through. But instead of heading to the Golden Arches or even the Orange W, I dropped by this somewhat obscure fast food gem in the heart of League City. Two words: bulgogi combo. For eight bucks, you get a burger filled with the most famous of Korean meats in addition to fries and a drink. The burger -- and with apologies to Dairy Queen -- is an absolute hunger buster. Much appreciation to the cooks who prepared and cooked the bulgogi. The sweet taste was made possible by the ample amount of seasoning. The restaurant has a salad bar where you pick the vegetables to complete your burger. Get this, however. You're not allowed to make a salad. Ironic, right? My rating is actually 4.5 stars. I have drove past this 300 times and never stopped. Then, I decided too. I might eat fast food 2-3 times per year. It's not my favorite however, for a fast food burger place it's good. It's not out of this world but, good. The burger was a little too salty for me but, the one thing I can say is that these patties are made to order and thick. It's the closest you'll get to homemade. Next time I will ask them to not put so much salt. So, yes I would definitely come back. I got the 6oz. mushroom swiss burger with caramelized onions. The onions were a bit too greasy. I would also ask for them not to use so much oil as well. The bun was very soft yet toasted on the inside which was good. The flavor was on the sweater side, almost like a yeast roll. Frequented there years ago. Best onion rings made today for a place still open. Had a horrible experience there one time (which though prevented me from ever returning I decided). One day, I ordered an order of onion rings 1 hour before they closed, and to my surprise, the owner/manager told me personally that they would not do it due to the time left in the day (which obviously of note was well before they closed by the way). And this guy was very temperamental / in a foul mood to the point that I just quickly bolted out without ordering anything, never, ever to return. Due to this guy's very poor act, if you do not want the high risk of getting treated very badly from this guy, beware, stay away. Love love love burger house! It's super cheap and very good. It always comes out fast no matter how busy they are and they employees are always very nice. They have a open topping bar but as of December 19 if you want tomatoes on your burger tell them when you order your burger because they don't have them anymore on the topping bar they also now have wheat buns! And they are just as good as the original ones! The 4oz burger is such a good size so if you are trying to pick between the 4 and 6 there isn't that much of a difference and if you want it even cheaper they always have lunch specials which is usually the 6oz burger with fries and a drink for 7.99! I like this place. We've been a couple of times before, but typically go to the one on Highway 3 (not sure if they are owned by the same people); but it was 5:30 pm on a Thursday and the traffic backs up pretty bad down there (Oh I know, poor suburbanite complaining about traffic!). So we decided to hit up this one instead. There were only two other people inside and one guy came in behind us so they weren't busy at all. The counter guy was polite and friendly. You order at the counter, they give you a number and then they call the number so you can go up and add your toppings. They had shredded lettuce, leaves of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pico de gallo and pickles. Plus the mayo, mustard and ketchup. Your basic fixins for a good burger...whether it's beef or chicken! I did see they had all-natural grass fed beef burgers as a choice, and of course at a higher price point. Not sure if the tast is much different, but that's a nice option for people who want that. Everything was hot and fresh, but it was smaller portions. Which was fine for me, but since I give hubby 1/2 to 3/4 of my fries typically, he got less fries which made him sad. He got the burger and I got the grilled chicken burger. No complaints at all about the taste; everything was really good, but the sandwiches were smaller. Not enough to make it not worth the price, but if I have a choice I will go to the other place to get more bang for my buck! Even if I have to fight traffic! read more

Is this the best burger I've ever had? No but it is it pretty darn close to it! The 6 oz burger was plenty enough for me and the fries were PLENTY enough for me and my daughter. It's also easy to get in and out of. It's not a trendy gourmet burger bistro that offers lots of signature burgers but you can get an awesome Kobe Burger. Summarizing, it's easy, good and local. Tried this for the first time in the 6 months I've been driving past to and from work, was really excited especially since when I looked up the reviews through google everyone was raving about it, and all the pictures made it even more appetizing, but was sadly disappointed. I ordered a burger combo, the fries were amazing, but the burger wasn't anything to write home about, the meat was very dry and bland, and the bun was over toasted to the point it was crunchy, all the toppings besides the avocado were fresh, the avocado was not ripe it was hard in some parts. Keeping my original four-star rating because their food is still good as always. But I wanted to moderate people's expectations about the "Kobe" burger here. It certainly isn't actual Kobe beef, which is imported from Japan, hard to get, and prohibitively expensive (over $100 per pound). There is what is called American Kobe, from the Wagyu beef breed originating from Japan, but it's not the same thing any more than "Champagne" produced anywhere but the Champagne region of France is the real thing. Even American Wagyu is expensive, but I don't think the owners here, like most consumers, know the difference. Burger House's may just be a better grade of normal Angus beef. I couldn't tell the difference between their perfectly yummy regular burger and their "Kobe" burger. What does a retiree want to eat after getting off a 22-hour flight from Asia? No, this isn't the setup to a bad joke - it actually is a preface to my Mom telling me that we should go have lunch here after I picked her up at the airport after a 6-week visit to her family. At first, it was surprising that Mom wanted to have a burger of all things. This is the lady that prefers to eat at home, doesn't care much for Tex-Mex, and loves to saddle me with all kinds of homemade food for the car ride home. Once I got over that we were going out for a burger, I suggested the local Whataburger since it is a Texas treasure. She parried with: "Let's go to Burger House - it is near the Palais Royal." Yup, Palais Royal and Beall's are the old lady equivalent of geographic markers. You know this is so true if you have a grandma living in the South. Off we went down the street and the Burger House was instantly recognized as a converted Captain D's Seafood place from a long time ago. Don't worry about how many years ago - focus on the now, please. The Korean family that owns the place were working furiously when we rolled up at 1230 PM. The place easily filled up after we got there and then another wave flowed in at 115 PM to replace the earlier wave; I'm glad that this place is doing a steady business. Plus, it helped that the counter staff cheerfully greeted everyone arriving and saying "thank you" as each person left. Mom and I each had the hamburger special of the day: 1/3 pound burger, topped with cheese, matched up with crinkle-cut fries and a fountain drink for $5.99. Given a receipt with your order number, we took a seat in the wood-paneled dining room. Between the order counter and there, there is an island with your burger toppings: lettuce, pickles, onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, and pico de gallo. Large plastic bottles of ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and hot sauce are at the end for use by anyone, too. The burgers arrived on large plastic platters lined with wax paper; while tasty, the crinkle-cut fries looked too uniform and smacked of coming out of a bag - but there were plenty of them. The burger's bun was deftly toasted and had a beautiful fluffy nature on the top bun. The flat patty was nice but I couldn't tell if it was premade or not. After assembling it the way I wanted, it made for a tasty lunch. My Mom also told me that she sometimes stopped in with a friend for a to-go order and ate it at her friend's house - I asked her why they didn't just eat it there and the reply was: "Too much food for one sitting, so we each eat half then we already have our second meal boxed up." They usually have a daily special, that enables you to get a 1\3 lb. Hamburger or Cheeseburger with French Fries and a medium drink for right at $8.00! Not a bad price at all! You come in and place your order and they give you your ticket and they'll call your number when your food is ready. They have a little bar set up with the mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, jalapeños, and Pico De gallo. It is similar in set up to Fuddruckers just on a smaller scale. They have a nice indoor seating area with plenty of tables and chairs to accommodate their customers. The burgers are good and it does a pretty good lunch business. They also have a drive through window if your in a hurry. A pretty nice little lunch spot overall. So stop in a give it a try sometime. read more

Since moving to League City in the middle of last year, we've been looking to replace our favorite burger place from another of Houston's suburbs and after trying several League City locations we've come to realize Burger House is where its at! The prices are excellent and the food is tasty and well prepared. Theres a certain amount of burger joint fried greasy goodness, but its not the kind that leaves you feeling like you need to wash your hands ten times to get rid of the slick. We've enjoyed the bulgogi burger numerous times as well as the traditional burgers and even a veggie burger. The onion rings are great (and don't tend to be the kind where you bite in once and the whole onion rips out....) are the sweet potato fries but for portion sizes - traditional fries are the way to get the most bang for your buck. As other reviewers have mentioned the condiment bar is a real plus. You can get all that they've said plus steak sauce! (I didn't see that on any of the reviews I read). Every time we've visited burger house, we've been served by the same man behind the counter. I wouldn't call him the most friendly but he's on top of greetings and expedited services. I don't like extremely chatty/over friendly service myself. The restaurant itself is clearly a bit dated and some of the door handles coming in and entering the restrooms make my germ-a-phobe side kick in but its nothing to the point where it deters me from repeated visits. (I could live without a meal with Fox News playing in the background as well, but thats just splitting hairs.) For a burger joint, this place is great. The people who run it are nice and you can talk with them about any special orders you want and they are very accommodating. I absolutely love their diet Dr. Pepper from the fountain! It's really yummy. I don't know if it's their mix or their ice or what it is, but it tastes so much better than any Diet Dr. Pepper I usually have! They stopped serving it for a while, but when we asked about it, they brought it back for us! I love their burgers. We often get the 1/2 pound special, with onion rings instead of fries, and the diet DP. We add pico de gallo and sweet pickle relish on the side. They give you mustard and mayo packages--the good packages of mayo that I like from when I was a kid. The buns are flaky and crisp, toasted. The meat looks and tastes fresh and hand pressed. I like their fries--they season them with seasoning salt and they are really good, but when you get them to go in the take-out boxes they get soggy (they are the thick crinkle-cut fries), so we usually go with their onion rings, which are whole onion rings instead of the pressed onions that some places use. They stay crispy. They have a drive-thru, but the speaker doesn't work so you have to go to the window. But for the price (they're pretty reasonable) they are one of the best quick burgers in League City. They're nothing fancy, but for a quick take-out burger that is better than a chain restaurant and more like you'd make at home, we order take out from them from time and time and are never disappointed. read more
