I visited this Burger King around 11pm at night on my way up to Maine. The cashier working was super nice and chill. There wasn't a long line at all so we were helped pretty quickly. When we got our order, I noticed I got fries instead of onion rings and so the cashier gave me onion rings and let me keep the fries. The only issue was that there was a puddle of soda fountain remnants on the floor and I almost slipped. Unsure if it's on Burger King to clean it up or the janitorial staff for the travel center. Either way, would have been bad if I didn't catch my balance. Anyways, most travel center fast food places aren't that good, are pricey, and the staff is miserable. This location, the cashier was awesome and the food was actually really good (I love BK's hamburgers). I guess it all depends on what time you go based on the other reviews. read more

This Burger King is located inside of the Kennebunk Service Plaza (Northbound) on Interstate 95. Stopped here for lunch on the drive up the Maine Turnpike from Dover, NH to Portland International Jetport. Ordered a Double Whopper with Cheese - low carb version - no bun. The kid working at the front counter was a bit "slow", but what he lacked in mental ability, he made up for in personality. He greeted us, gave us our soda and wished us well. This is the longest I've ever waited for fast food in my life. It still isn't ready as I write this review. It's a Sunday at 3pm and I've been waiting 20 minutes because they have one person cooking food. People are standing around and complaining about it. Despite the poor reviews, we stopped here and hoped for the best. We entered our order through the kiosk, though there was a manager at the register who was happily taking orders from others. There was a short wait, as they seemed a little understaffed, but they were working hard and the food was fresh, hot, and delicious, and the wait wasn't any more than might be expected at this busy highway rest area plaza restaurant. I cannot say anything negative about the meal we got. We got an original chicken sandwich, a whopper Junior, and two small cheeseburgers, as well as some fries and onion rings, and it was all terrific. We just thought it was important to post a more recent review, particularly with the other reviews sounding so negative; just wanting to share that we had a very good experience here. read more

I realize this is a chain and while this review is about this location in particular the subject matter stretches from store to store...the sorry state of BK's breakfast fare. My brother summed up the experience succinctly...square eggs, WTF! Cold, folded, tasteless square eggs. Ladies and gentlemen I think I have found the one thing on planet Earth that doesn't taste better with bacon. Other than the color there is nothing these squares have in common with actual eggs. You just can't dress them up and believe me they try. Sandwiches with two meats, double cheese, sauces...all wasted due to the pure horror that is the egg square. There were more people behind the counter than in front of the counter but you wouldn't have guessed that by the service and quality of the food output. We were headed to Freeport recently and stopped at the rest area to get some lunch at Burger King. In the past, it has been okay fare, but for some reason, this time it was over the top good. And I am not kidding. All of the vegetables on my Whopper were crisp and fresh, the hamburger was not overcooked and the bun was perfect. I drive by here frequently and have stopped many times in the past 10 years or so. Last Thursday, I stopped because I was hungry and was driving to Connecticut and had a ways to go. Hard to figure out where to start. The robot kiosk were so dirty they were difficult to manipulate. The staff, completely apathetic, no personality, and for the most part kept their backs to the counter. One cook, looks like the food went through a drunken frat party. From payment to counter service, 45 minutes ( granted it was 6 orders) BUT THIS IS AN INTERSTATE PLAZA, SPEED OF SERVICE IS THE NAME OF THE GAME! Next time Sbarro for us! If I could give zero stars I would. This is my first review after having Yelp now for a few years. After driving hours and after paying $20 for two chicken meals, I don't expect to be treated like crap. We paid at the kiosk then waited over at the kiosk pickup counter. We received our order with no cups. We politely and patiently waited for the lady packing the orders to come back over so we could get cups and onion ring sauce. She then came back over and we asked for the cups. We not only received a sigh of being pissed off but our cups practically throw at us. Sorry we ordered a meal that came with drinks and we inconvenienced you two give us two cups but if you don't like your job that much, then leave. We left in such disgust that we didn't bother for her to turn back around so we could get onion ring sauce. You should teach your staff about customer service. read more

Been going here since I was a teenager - when you grow up in the area, it is the only 24 hour place to get food that isn't Portland or Portsmouth (30 min in each direction). It was also the last place you could smoke indoors and relax with your friends - they had those vintage golden tin BK ashtrays well through the 90's, though at the end you had to ask for them. (Hey, we were teenagers!) I still have a few around somewhere in my junk drawer. The L-shaped dining room also meant that in the middle of the night you could just hang out and as long as you weren't rowdy stay as long as you wanted (the counter was around the corner, out of sight). It's on the Turnpike, and back then if you said you were just going to BK, they would just let you get on for free - now, you have to pay $1. It is easy to get on and off, though, and at 2AM it can be worth it. That said, a couple of years ago the entire plaza did a remodel, and now it's one of those open-concept things with a food-court look. There are now TV's, and the seating area isn't bad - though you kind of feel like you are on display since everyone has to walk right past you who comes in or out. If I stop it's because it's late (or early) and I get the food to go and take it home. The big negative now is the very limited menu. You can no longer get a lot of standard BK food. It was always more expensive than your standard BK (being on the Turnpike), but at least it was a full BK with a full BK menu (though, they had a no coupon policy and never did a "value" $1 menu when that became popular). Again, at 2AM, though - it was worth it. Now, they have maybe 1/2 of the regular BK menu - no stackers or any type of value menu at all still. I usually eschew the fries and drink (I usually have my own drink anyway, especially if I am stopping in to get take out), and grab two burgers - which easily sets me back $10. A family of four eating here, even with kids menu is looking at close to $30. If you want something better and it's daytime, right off the exit (exit the toll booth, turn left, straight about two 10ths of a mile - you can see it once you turn) is Cummings Market, which has a full deli (no fries, though) and pizza by the pie or by the slice (if you want to grab something quick) as well as a nice selection at breakfast, particularly the breakfast sandwiches - I never get egg in a fast food breakfast sandwich because I'm super picky about eggs, but here I eat the whole thing (again, for quick meals they have plenty prepared to-go, or you can have yours custom ordered). It's also a small grocery store (very nice meat counter, small but fresh and well stocked produce section, etc.), and the prices on most things are comparable to the big box grocery way in town. For the same $30 and probably about the same wait, you can get four fresh subs/sandwiches, chips, and any drink you want and have a few bucks left over to get supplies for the rest of the ride. Again, though - in the middle of the night, the only real option within 1/2 an hour drive, and if you are already on the Turnpike it's a no brainer (last food right on pike for about an hour, which is just another BK). Just don't go expecting your favorite burger unless it's a Whopper (pretty much all they have), or expecting burgers or breakfast in particular (the time they "switch over" has always fluctuated, no idea what it is now and they will not cook the other no matter how recent or near the flip you are). It does fill the need for some familiar fast food, and it's better than going into town and getting a microwave burrito out of the only 24 hour convenience store nearby. read more

I will not return to Burger King (I-95 South, Kennebunk, ME). I have the Burger King app on my phone, which identified this store as accepting coupon codes offered through the app. After ordering my breakfast I presented the coupon on my phone, but the cashier with a snotty attitude exclaimed they do not accept any coupons from any source, period. Even though the app clearly says otherwise. AND the bags they put my meal in advertises the app savings too! A graphic almost the full size of the bag itself reads, "Exclusive Deals. Save up to $30. Download our App". Then to top it off, my sandwich was cold and the hash browns hadn't been drained and were excessively greasy. So corporate BK, if you even read these reviews, here's the results of poor advertising follow-through, poor customer service, and poor food quality. You lost me as a customer, and now this review expresses my frustration to the world. read more
