If you want a "just average" eating experience you should skip Rock Salt…read more It was fantastic. But, get there early, make a reservation, or be prepared to wait. My brother and I wanted something for lunch after going to a car swap meet. We landed on Rock Salt Grille. I'd eaten there several times before. We arrived at 11:45 AM (Saturday) and there was a 30 minute wait, so we grabbed two comfortable seats at the bar. A good call. I had the Rock Salt Oysters, broiled with bacon and parmigiana. Delightful. I also had the cream of, and Maryland crab, soup combination. My brother had the crab cake sandwich. I'd had it before, but wanted the oysters. His crab cake sandwich was double the size of any I'd ever seen, without exaggeration. He guessed it was 8 ounces or more, without exaggeration, with no visible filler, (Broiled). I had a few beers and we split the Bread pudding with Grand Marnier sauce. It was enough for four. The bar and food service was spectacular with "tag teaming" to make sure we didn't wait for anything. I'd like to thank the bartenders who served us perfectly: Kelsey and Nikkea. Award winners. Rock Salt is not inexpensive, but the quality of the food and the great service justify the premium. I'll be back more often

The food was very good, as we tried the crab soup, steamed mussels, fried oysters & oyster sandwich, tuna poke, and key lime pie. My fave were the mussels. Service was prompt and attentive. We really enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be going back again! Btw I chose the "OH MY COD" for my dinner and it was SO GOOD! Our first visit to the Lost Lion definitely won't be our last. Braydn was our server, and her…read moreservice was exceptional. Another food runner also deserves recognition because he was incredibly motivated and on top of everything. Their timing was perfect. Braydn seemed to intuitively know exactly when to check on us, refill our drinks, and ask if we were ready to order. She was genuinely friendly and looked like she truly enjoyed her job, which always makes for a better dining experience. We sampled a few cocktails, and my White Cosmo was absolutely delicious! For dinner, I ordered the Oh My Mahi, and "oh my" was exactly my reaction. The moist mahi mahi was served over a bed of saffron rice and topped with an Asian slaw. There were so many layers of flavor, and every bite depended on how you attacked it. I started by dragging my fork through the hoisin sauce and picking up some rice, fish, and slaw all together. The temperature and flavor combinations were remarkable with the hot saffron rice with just a hint of hoisin, the fresh, flaky fish, a pop of ginger, then the cooler, crisp crunch of carrots, cabbage, red onion, red pepper, and I think spinach. Every bite was different, the presentation was beautiful, and the meal was simply amazing. My husband ordered the Papa Burger, a clever play on "jalapeño popper." It featured two flavorful patties topped with bacon, jalapeño jelly, cheddar, cream cheese, sautéed onions, and fresh-cut fries. I stole one bite...then another...then a third! I'm officially renaming it the "Oh My Poppa Burger" because it may have been the best burger I've ever tasted. That says a lot because I'm a traditionalist when it comes to burgers. I'm not even a bacon fan. Yet somehow this combination just worked. What is in that cream cheese, bacon, and jalapeño jelly combo that make this burger so ridiculously good? Next time I'm in a burger mood, I am coming here! But everything looked so good so I may be back before that burger mood strikes. The only reason I'm giving Lost Lion four instead of five stars is that my husband would have loved to add a simple slice of tomato and some lettuce. We were hesitant to ask because we know substitutions can snowball, and we quickly got the impression that the chef preferred not to alter the menu as written. He didn't even dare ask for a side of ranch for the fries after this. If small additions like lettuce or tomato were an option, even for a small upcharge, it would make an already fantastic burger even better for some. That said, between the outstanding service, creative and delicious food, excellent cocktails, and warm ambiance on a Thursday evening, The Lost Lion made a wonderful first impression. We'll definitely be back.

To start it reminds me of a truck stop because not only can you get food, you can coffee, slushies and gas (Caroll Fuel). They also offer sweet desserts from the Amish Market and raw butcher's meat in the freezer section along with fresh milk and beverages. Onto the food....the setup is easy because you order your food on a kiosk like you can at most restaurants. You bunch in your cell number, pick your food, and type in your name for pickup. We order a few items, a pulled pork sandwich, hand carved turkey sandwich, half slab of ribs, onion rings, pit beans (which is a trio of beans), and hand cut fries (which will remind you of Boardwalk Fries). The wait wasn't long at all, it took about only 10 minutes to get all of our food. The fries and onion rings were hot and fresh out the grease, the sandwiches were loaded, and the ribs were seasoned and cooked perfectly.

Today I tried the open faced turkey with fries and gravy, brisket quesadilla, collards, and Mac and cheese. I was able to grab a seat after ordering at the kiosk. The spot is so neat with lots of local favorites like zeeks, southern mountain creamery, and more. Also lots of grab and goes. The food is rediculously yummy. The open faced turkey was delicious and a great portion. The Mac and cheese is some of the best I've had. I definitely advise checking this place out!

My friends and I drove up from Laurel, MD to visit the Strawbridge Shrine (review coming soon)…read moreoutside of New Windsor. We had a whole list of potential lunch spots for when we left there; two in New Windsor and some on the way back to Laurel. We ended up choosing UME because of the bigger variety of food on offer and we were so glad we went! Parking is free, on the street. There are probably times you'd have to park farther but we arrived just as they opened at 11 so it was easy. Décor is fun - like a diner I might have gone to as a child in the 60's. The "public face" who seated us (they actually told me this) is the most welcoming and affable person, who grasped our lady date vibe immediately and was just as fun as the place. I will warn you right off - too many amazing sounding choices on the menu! Also, it pays to ask for more detailed info: I don't like horseradish and it turns out the tiger sauce on the Matty Melt is made with that. Our person (I never caught their name, dangit!) offered to customize by having it made with plain mayo. Sold! So, C ordered the cheesesteak sub, E chose the turkey bacon ranch panini, and I did get the Matty Melt, sans horseradish. We each cut our sammie in half, then a half in half again, then shared all around. For those of you who don't want to math, we each had 1/4 of the other two flavors, plus 1/2 of our own and it was a delightful sampler! All of the ingredients were so fresh and so flavorful. The lettuce on them was not wilted like shredded lettuce can get so easily. Tomato bursting with flavor, crispy bacon, and the steak! wow! We all turned down chips or other starches, but we each got a dill spear which was tasty. Even sharing out the food, it was too much for me for one meal so I have lunch for tomorrow :D Prices are right in line with any other casual dining experience. $14.99 for a really good hoagie or panini is perfect. We treated our friend and split the rest of the bill in half, so it was less than $30 for me. Toss in the cash tip which happily C always does, too, and it was still only $40! I often say this but I'm very serious - if it wasn't so far from home, since I'm not in Laurel but 20 minutes from there - I would make the trek again and again to eat here. And you know what, I might just do it anyway! I have loads of time when g'kids are in school and I could easily drive up just for lunch... Hmmm.

I went in to use the bathroom and the server was very kind and welcoming. The bathrooms were also very clean and charming (lovely decor!).
