Needed a cheap lunch place for a big group (9 people) and found this place nearby! Burgers with fries are like $8, which is just unheard of in the UES. The place has very limited seating and it's a tight squeeze; it's like a bar that also serves as the pick up area and as a counter for some customers. We took all of our burgers to go and ate at a nearby park. They were so nice to us despite our crazy order and the food took maybe 10-15 minutes? The burgers are huge and really good; it's just a good cheap local burger joint. They also deliver in the neighborhood. Only down side is that there's no space to eat, but it looks like most of the people were on their lunch break and trying to grab it to go or to quickly dine and go. read more

Small hole in the wall located on the Upper East Side. I don't recommend eating there only because the place is really tiny and legit has four stools. Nonetheless, their burgers are fresh and awesomely priced. It's nice to see affordable fresh food on this side of Manhattan because literally every other eating establishment is ridiculously overpriced. They have a variety of other meals (tacos, fajitas, mozzarella sticks) but I can't get away from their burgers man. Especially the Texas burger with the over easy egg. I came here yesterday for dinner. I'll start off this review by saying that the burgers were amazing! We ordered two California cheeseburgers, one Texas burger with a sunny side up egg, and the deluxe Burger One Special burger. The meat was super juicy and piping hot. The fries were soft in the inside and crispy on the outside. Perfectly fried. They were all very delicious! I found this great hole in the wall via Yelp. So why two stars? Because of the poor customer service and overcharged bill. Please review your bill before paying. I knew it sounded too high, but the restaurant was crowded and we were there for too long that I didn't feel it was appropriate to stay any longer and to occupy seats just to calculate the bill. I trusted that I would be charged correctly. That was my mistake. When I got to my hotel last night, I added up everything we ordered (Texas burger $6.15, two CA burger $7 each, Burger One deluxe $8.50, and a can of soda $1.75) and the amount came out to $32.91, tax included. I was charged $44.00. I don't know where the difference came from. I even gave them a tip on top of the $44. The poor service I mentioned above is referring to the deluxe burger and water. When we received our burgers, mine did not come with lettuce and tomato as it was described on the menu. I was okay with it. When they did not give me the french fries, I asked for it and I got that with no problem. I did not receive my waters however until I had to ask again. The customer service was not bad. It's just that I had to ask for things multiple times. In summary, the most disappointing thing about this experience is the overcharged bill. read more

If you're in the neighborhood and are looking for a good burrito Burger One is the spot! They'll even put their crispy delicious fries in your burrito if you ask for it = California Burrito!! I had the carnitas burrito with fries inside and it was heaven, it filled a void in my heart and space in my stomach that I had longed for so badly in my 8 months here so far... The carnitas was flavorful and tender, the bite of fries inside held it all together and made for a crisp and creamy texture. They even had Cholula hot sauce, which hit the spot on every bit. Also, their burgers are so good! Tender and juicy patties cooked to order. I got the Texan Burger because of my affinity to everything with a fried egg on it. Bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, fried MF egg! It was honestly one of the best burgers I can say I've had since moving to New York thankfully it's right in my neck of the woods. Great spot for a quick burger. The burgers are of nice size and juicy. The only hang up I have is that there is an out of order sign on the bathroom door and one of the staff used the bathroom. So apparently it was working. This is not convenient for customers when a place has a restroom that doesn't function or a sign alluding to the fact that it doesn't function when in reality it does. Amazing burgers and friendly service at this just-opened branch of a hyper-local, Mex-diner chain. The burgers are very thick and beefy-tasting. Fries are standard but good. Burritos are filling, but watch out for the hot sauce, whose spiciness is off the charts. Ditto with the jalapenos in the sandwiches. The interior is up a couple of steps, but tidy and pleasant if not fancy. There's a counter along the windows for people-watching. I've run into here a few times to just satisfy that need for something greasy, but also good. I've had burgers, tacos, fries and this morning a breakfast sandwich at Burger One. The food doesn't overly stuff your belly, but it definitely fills you up. The prices are great. Less than $4.00 for my breakfast sandwich with chorizo? Unheard of around here. Everything is made pretty quick, and how can it not be - the place maybe seats 10 people? The kitchen in my apartment may be bigger than the entire place. What I like about this place is that it's good without being douchey or pretentious. The fries are good. They're not good because they have rosemary on them or sea salt. They're good because they're good. The burger is good too. It's not good because of organic, corn-fed cattle or 'I ordered mine rare'. The burger is good because they make it right in front of you and use quality ingredients on a good bun and the cook knows what he's doing. The seating area is tight, the staff couldn't care less, the clientele waffles between girls in Jackie O glasses and guys with bow ties and Macbooks and waste management workers but everyone's treated equally. I'd go back, though probably only if I lived in the neighborhood and could take it home rather than deal with the tight stools and awkward mirror. I'd also like to try the Mexican offerings. Burgers here start out as a ball of meat the size of a tennis ball! Eventually it's smashed down to the familiar hockey puck shape that burgers from Earth come in and grilled until the edges are crispy. The inside is cooked the way you like it. Fries are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and are not the wimpy thin kind from mcd's. Overall a pretty good 'deluxe' burger and fries combo. All freshly prepared for less than $8. We went to the nearby Shake Shack to find a huge line. After searching Yelp, we came across this place. We walked in and found a greasy dive with a few barstools and a small kitchen. The menu has breakfast foods like omelets, eggs, etc., some sandwiches like Philly Cheesesteaks, a BLT, melted cheese, some tacos, and a variety of burgers. The burger I had was nothing short of excellent: juicy, cooked perfectly, flavorful on a soft bun with tomato, lettuce and a pickle. My wife had a cheesesteak which ended up being the best cheesesteak we've had outside of Philly. The fries are also excellent. When the weather warms, we plan on getting a couple burgers or tacos to go and heading for the park for a little picnic. read more

Good place for a simple big "S" juicy burgers. Today while I was passing by, it caught my attention and I popped in to see what they had to offer. I wanted some comforting food, so ordered a burger with blue cheese and got some jalapenos added to it. Staff was very friendly as well, I had a issue with the doneness of my burger and they offered to do a new one without a thought. Just ordered from here and have very mixed feelings. Delivery was prompt, which was great. Cheeseburger was medium rare and I asked for medium well. Grease was dropping from the burger as well as blood. Medium well doesn't have blood dripping out. Fries were awesome. Just perfect. Time to regulate. Did not have a good experience ordering food from here. Ordered two items. Tacos (beef) with rice and beans. These turned out reasonably well, but by no means great. In contrast we also ordered a supposedly beef torta. This item was inedible. The 'beef' turns out to be 'breaded veal' of some sort that looks like two-day old chicken cutlet, the meat was that white. It was utterly disgusting and inedible. In and of itself, disappointing, but not a deal breaker. I called the restaurant to complain and either get a refund for the torta or have a different item sent. They couldn't refund me since the order was online through a delivery service. Fine, understandable, but they refused to send a different item. Small little place with only enough cramped seating for a handful of people. I got the chili burger that came with fries, a pickle, lettuce and tomato on the side. Totaled to a little under $10. The burger was bland but the chili on top was the perfect combination & if the burger was salted, it would have been too salty. The burger was awkwardly constructed. The burger was thrown on top of the two buns with a huge scoop of chili plopped on. There was no way it would have been eaten without utensils.
