The outdoor seating is elevated at this beachfront​ property, which gives you a great view of the Ritz Carlton's private beach. (I love private beaches). The hearty burger was really good with a generous patty, though the sweet potato fries were overly salted. As you can see from my photo, the burger is so well presented too. Prices here are very reasonable for a Ritz property. Similar to a high-end​ burger place in San Francisco. It's nothing close to the true​ jaw-dropping prices I was beyond shocked at when I stayed at the Four Seasons on Lanai! There's even a hammock at the Burger Shack, which I couldn't resist napping on after my huge burger. What an apropos accoutrement! After about 6 years of having this place bookmarked I finally tried it today. Loved it. First of al the staff was very welcoming and it's open seating so feel free to pick the best table available at any given time. My partner and I were dressed in our typical Maui wear...boardshorts, tank tops and flips flops. Perfectly acceptable attire here even though on the Ritz Carlton Property. Of course many of the guests are way over dressed for a Burger Shack! Since I was going to order a shake and burger I was hoping they would let me order the Kekei Burger. No problem. Though the server warned me it was tiny. Not really.... It's a normal adult sized burger in many settings. Just meat and cheese of your choice and I chose chips over sweet potato fries. It was perfectly cooked and lots of flavor. The perfect beach burger in my opinion. The Royal Kona Shake did not disappoint either. A generous size that's easy to enjoy along with the meal. We walked down from the parking area at Dragon's Teeth Access Trail but it looked like there could be a much shorter walk depending on where you could get a spot at DT Fleming beach park. read more

I asked what is considered normal here? I was told , I don't know. So since it's a hamburger I went with the usual MW. But the Wagu beef was so lean that it was like eating a cheap burger. For a high end hotel and expensive mean you would think it would be a little quicker. There was even 2 servers and getting the bill and paying took about 10-15 mins. Food - I got the big o's vegan burger. The portion was a good size but the taste was a little salty. Everything was cooked to perfection, but the sauce was salty a little too salty for me. Walk down past the hotel and you'll find the best place on Maui for a burger! Lovely ocean views and dine al fresco! The food is amazing with my nephew declaring it the "best grilled cheese" he's ever had. We had boozy milkshakes (us not him don't be daft lol) and fries, both sweet potato and chips. Make sure to go with a group so you can spit things because you WANT to try everything! If you're not into boozy milkshakes that have some really creative and fun regular! Who doesn't want a cookie with their milkshake! One warning though...and the reason I gave it 4 starts instead of 5...slight shock when the bill came as there was a $40 service charge for what reason I'm still not sure. read more

Burger Shack is a nice spot on the bay that is open for lunch each day. Service was good, and the sandwiches were large and tasty. Burgers are certainly on the expensive side, however this is a place you go to for the view and located at the Ritz-Carlton. The sweet potato fries were good and the sandwiches were very good. They also serve over-sized milkshakes that are fantastic. Hours are tricky here, often 12-3 or 12-4 depending on weather, so check in advance just in case. read more

My husband and I are visiting Maui to celebrate our 15 year anniversary, we're staying at the Ritz Carlton and our first order of business upon arrival was to get lunch so we headed over to the Burger Shack and had a spectacular time. The service was amazing, so friendly and helpful and quick, everything you could ever want after hopping off a 5 hour flight and one hour drive to the hotel. The location is gorgeous, set right on the edge of the sand with panoramic views of the bay, it was stunning. The menu is slightly limited for food options- like most hotel restaurants, however there are still likely options for most, including fish items, meat items, a salad and veggie burger for those who do not partake. My husband ordered the Mai tai shake- which was essentially a Mai tai mixed with vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream, coconut shavings, a pineapple and orange slice, he loved it! I got a skinny margarita, which was made well, nice and refreshing and adorned with salt on the rim. He got the DT Fleming burger with a side of fries, I got the fish tacos and a side of fruit- they were both great. The fish tacos were fresh fish (not fried) with a cabbage slaw, pickled red onions and jalapeño on flour tortillas. They mentioned it was spicy but I didn't think it was too hot. There were two tacos which I thought was the perfect amount of food along with the fruit and I was enjoying a couple of my husband's fries as well - the fries were very crispy and seasoned well, but not overly salty- very enjoyable! I would definitely recommend the Burger Shack to anyone looking for a great bite with a killer view. read more

The burger shack is right up from the beach and a super chill place to grab a drink and bite to eat. We had an early dinner so we just split the katzu katzu (crispy chicken) sandwich. They were nice enough to split it without us asking and it was brought out fresh. The burgers here looked pretty darn good so we were a little envious of not getting one. The beer selections aren't too bad either. I knocked it to a four star because everything here seems to be slow. But then again, maybe that's just Hawaii in general. So good we came back here 3 more times in a one week. At first I was skeptical of the prices for the burgers but the prior reviews were enticing. Initially got the Ali'i and man -- enough calories for a day yet well balanced and put together unlike most burger towers. The brioche buns are spot on here and the burgers are cooked to your liking. The katzu katzu was a crowd pleaser for many in our family. Perfectly crisped large piece of chicken well balanced with the roasted-garlic aioli. The biggest surprise was the bikini burger. The black bean-beat patty was great, meaty and well-balanced between the two flavors. The two strips of smoked tofu offered a very nice compliment and change of space and the jicama slaw makes for a nice extra texture and bite. Ordered this twice. The shakes were definitely a must-try though you might not have room. Hulu Girl and Royal Kona were the only ones we tried but I'd recommend to anyone. They provide a heft portion of whipped cream on top but guess what -- you don't have to eat it all. What a concept. Didn't get any of the mixed drinks here but well regarded by the regulars. Service is pretty good. BEAUTIFUL views. Not a lot of cover when the "pineapple mist" or other rain showers happen -- huddled under the walkway the bar once and enjoyed my shake. Not shabby but important to be aware of when making plans. Also, if you're not comfortable with chickens and birds comfortably walking around human legs, don't come here. They're living in harmony and high hopes of you dropping a fry. The birds come quickly if/when people leave food on the table without letting staff take it away first. Luckily they don't and didn't get aggressive and intrude on us or any other patrons while you were eating -- they're smart enough to wait until you leave. Let me start off by saying the view is incredible! Came here with my husband and daughter and we all enjoyed. My husband got the double decker burger and loved it but wished he got a single patty. My daughter got the katzu burger and it was great. I ordered the fish sandwich and let me say that it was the best thing I've eaten so far on our trip! I also ordered a maitai which was superb and very strong (make sure to give a good mix, lol) and the coola colada which was even better!
