Pretty good place to eat. I thought the food was very tasty, they also have a GF menu that is good , it's in a nice part of town , and if you go get the fried pickles. I couldn't eat them but they look amazing. My kids had them. I have been here twice now and will go back. The only real for a 4 not a 5 star is the price. I think it is a little pricey, my daughter is a vegetarian, she ordered a bun with cheese and tomato and pickles, they charged us full price like it was a burger with meat. $ 11.00 But like I said, other than that it's a great place. We've been patrons at Burger Up multiple times a month since they opened over a decade ago, but sadly we probably won't be back. As a family with food allergies we try to support restaurants that use quality ingredients and have menu items that are allergen friendly. We have been twice this month and both times the food was terrible. Two weeks ago the wings we ordered were BURNT, the fries were cold and over all the food was not good. Tonight the burgers and bacon were WELL done, and the fries way over cooked and very thinly sliced which wasn't the norm before. Everyone has an off night every now and then, but this seems like a pattern. The restaurant wasn't busy either time we were there so I can't think it was a rushed kitchen staff. I'm not sure if they have new management or what has happened to cause this change, but if you want return customers it needs to be fixed. read more

My first Burger Up experience was at the 12 South location well over a year ago. I had honestly forgotten what the food tasted like, so I've been wanting to make a return visit. So this evening I decided to try out the Cool Springs location. I ordered the Bear Creek Farm Classic burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The beef was cooked just right with a hefty slice of cheddar cheese on top. The mustard added a slight tang, and the veggies were fresh and crisp. The bun was soft. All of the ingredients worked together to make for a very delicious sandwich. The side of sweet potatoes was larger than I was expecting. But I wasn't upset. The fries were thick cut and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The light dusting of salt made for the perfect sweet-n-salty addition to the burger. Overall, I'm hooked on Burger Up. I'll be back soon. read more

This was my 3rd Burger In 24hrs, and was wondering how the Ramsey burger at BU would compare to the Stout burger at Stout Burger (awesome with an even more awesome happy hour price of only $6.50) and the 96 burger of Burger Republic (uber-juicy and almost as good as the stout burger). I liked the feel of this place. Laid-back and relaxed. Nice tunes. Nice hostess and servers. Wasn't very busy for 5:30pm this Thursday. Order taken immediately. Now for the food.... the O-rings were a great choice. They were a top-3 onion ring experience for me. Light, and not too oily. Make sure you request a fresh complementary side of their tasty honey mustard aioli sauce- it was superb. Now to the Ramsey burger.... Nice presentation. A little on the small size comparably to the other two. The bun was only average and tasted store bought. The meat (cooked medium) had a nice flame-grilled taste to it. It was a little on the dry side however. The overall taste of the pimento cheese and bacon was a good pairing, but the burger would've tasted much more flavorful had the pimento cheese and bacon both been doubled. Overall a little above average burger but not great. It looks like stout burger still holds the top spot by a slim margin over Burger Republic. Burger Up is a distant 3rd place. I'm gonna give Burger Republic's Tennessee Burger later tonight one last opportunity to dethrone Stout burger.... review to follow soon. read more

Amazing food!! We had a terrific waitress, Amber, she was the sweetest! The burger tasted amazing and I love how it is all local and their sauces (like ketchup and ranch) taste as if they were made right there! Also, they were very good with my peanut allergy. They have no peanuts in the kitchen except for their peanut oil but it is refined so I was able to enjoy my food without having to worry. Highly recommend! read more

Truly upping the burger (and surprisingly salad) game. We were stoked to give this place a go from the day we got in. Initially we tried two different burgers. I had the salmon burger with spinach, and my wife had the backyard burger. We had the quinoa fritters as an appetizer as well. Everything was delicious! The salmon was well cooked, and my wife loved her burger. The quinoa fritters were recommended by the absolutely stellar manager, Kellen. She was wonderful and helped us from the get go and was seen bussing tables as well. We were so impressed that we returned a second time before our vacation was over. This time we went lighter and ordered salads. The kale salad with salmon and the chicken cobb salad to be exact. I never in my life thought that I would enjoy a kale salad as much as I enjoyed this one. The blackened salmon on top was perfectly cooked, and I think this is my new favorite salad. Burger Down We used to love Burger Up. In a time when little burger joints were popping up on every corner, they set themselves apart from the rest. How the mighty have fallen. They've recently made some changes and dropped a few items from the menu. These included their lamb burger and their wedge salad which championed some of the best steakhouse wedges I've ever had with crisp iceberg lettuce, crispy bacon crumbles, fresh tomatoes, and the most divine Bleu cheese dressing. Their fries used to be crisp and brown and yummy. Now they're meh. Service used to be spot on. It's now hit and mostly miss. And totally unapologetic. They used to leave carafes of water on the table so you could refill your glass at will. And they offered bottles of their housemade ketchup on the table. Now you have to ask and they will bring you a little condiment cup like it's unicorn tears. Lastly, we ordered the onion rings "tower" and we're underwhelmed. It was 5 large rings with a soft batter that had been fried too low or too long or both. Disappointing all around. Won't be back. read more

A very bad experience. Service was very slow. We were seated in the closed in patio (cold) of the facility although tables appeared available in the main restaurant. When food was delivered my "Classic Burger" was extremely overcooked. A waiter/ waitress never returned to check on the food delivered. As I was with a group, and as there was no wait staff present, I ate what I could of the meal, even though it was overcooked. When the check was presented I explained that it was overcooked - the response was "sorry" with no further apology or explanation. I stopped by with my family on a Sunday afternoon--middle of the day. Perfect time to go if you don't want to wait for a table. I really liked the casual atmosphere. We were greeted right away and our server was quick to bring us our drinks. I went with the Bear Creek Farm Classic Burger and a side salad to be just a wee bit healthy. The burger was awesome. I usually don't finish burgers but this one went down fast. I tried some of the sweet potato fries that a family member got. I can't say that I loved them. First off, my meal was delicious! And it always is! However, this was a special occasion, which I wanted to review, because I am currently on Whole30. I called prior to coming in to ask about the way Burger Up cooks their meals so I can be in compliance with the Whole30. They were very accommodating and didn't make me feel as if I was asking too many questions at all. I dined in the same night and had Tina as my server. She was very knowledgeable about the way the food was prepared and made suggestions to help me plan around my "diet." I ate a turkey burger with avocado and egg. A simple turkey burger with fries and only water as a drink with a reasonable tip comes in at just under $20.00! 7pm on a Friday night with a wait time of 45min. I expected that and it was no problem to wait in our car. We ordered shortly after being seated. The empty table beside us had become occupied whom had ordered the same burgers as we did, however they received their food before us. That was slightly dissapointing but understandable, perhaps because they are slammed and the priority of orders were placed in error. No biggie, we eventually got our food. This is where I become a bit of a critic. I was super stoked after eating at the 12S location just 3 days prior and was excited for my family to try it. I called ahead and asked if their menu was similar to the 12S location & was informed yes, they have most of the same items but the menus aren't exact because of different ownership. Items ordered: Quinoa fritters - yummy! Turkey burger - sadly dissapointing. Lacked flavor, the bun was so soggy, I couldn't even pick it up without have it mush in my hands. Onion Rings - don't waste your money, stick with fries. Backyard burger - typical burger from any other fast food chain, honestly whoopers from Burger King tastes better. After being served flavorless "gourmet" burgers, with not one refill of our drinks, and observing a gentlemen, who looked like he was the manger, approaching every table except ours to ask "how was everything?", including the couple sitting next to us. He made no effort to ask our table how things were going, how did our meal taste, and server was slammed and never came back to see if even needed a refill until we asked for our check. I will definitely stick to the 12S location, perhaps different ownership makes a gigantic difference. My impression of Burger Up, after three visits, is that it pales in comparison to the top burger joints in Middle Tennessee despite the high prices. The burger is juicy and the offering of toppings is good, but I rated it an 8 on a 10-point scale. Not worth a price that's double or triple a fast food experience. The truffle fries didn't taste extraordinarily special either. The staff was reasonably nice to us, not the horror stories of other Yelpers. If you're in Cool Springs, this is a good option, but if you're willing to travel to East Nashville, West Nashville, Nolensville, or Brentwood, see my list of best burgers in town for a much better experience. read more

This place had some of the best burgers and fries that I have had in Nashville! I came here on a Sunday afternoon after church, and we had to wait for about 10ish minutes before we were seated. Since it was so nice outside, we decided to sit on their patio (which is why it took a little longer). Their patio isn't 100% open, the have garage doors that they open, but there is a fun grassy area outside with corn hole. The vibe of the restaurant was rustic and super chill. I loved their interesting and odd decor. The service was wonderful. The waiter was very attentive to out needs and was fast to get us anything that we wanted. I love that they serve their drinks in mason jars. It's fun! Their menu is pretty diverse. I opted for their bear creek cheese burger and it was divine. Cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. It came with a huge pile of fries that were house cut and crispy to perfection. They have a lot of other options like hot chicken and salmon burgers. The prices were really good too. My burger and fries were only 10 buck! The only downside is that they make their ketchup homemade and it's disgusting. It's more tomato based that most ketchup and they didn't have any other types other than their homemade one. So I ate my fries without ketchup. We have eaten here a lot over the years. The burger is still great, but priced higher than most in town. I agree with a lot of the other reviews regarding the fries. The fries used to be a great compliment to the burger. Saturday we were served sweet potato fries dripping in old fryer grease. They were limp and completely soaked. We told our server and she smiled and said the fries have changed. She later came back and asked if we wanted an order of regular fries instead. We said yes and they were just like the other fries... a greasy mess and they actually charged us for the second batch. Loved this burger place! We came here shortly after opening and the staff were very friendly. We ordered the nachos which were amazing and easily fed the three of us. For entrees my mom and sister split a salad and shared the slider combo. The salad was fresh and crisp and the sliders were cooked perfectly. I had the backyard burger and it was also delicious and cooked to my request. Food is good, but my total for a to go order was $58 and there's a mandatory 15% tip on to go food, bringing my total to $76. Why do I need to tip on to go orders? I go in, get my own order from by the bar, all I did was order. If I wanted to tip, I'd eat at the place and tip my server. But if there's no server, why should I be tipping? I know those kitchen workers get paid great, and cooking the food is their job. Make it make sense. If you want your employees to make more, then pay them more.
