My son and I decided on a whim to stop by burger village since he was craving a burger. The location is ideal surrounded with a nice shopping area although it made parking a little challenging. I had the bison burger with onion rings. The burger had good flavor and texture but it's the onion rings that really stood out. They had a subtle flavor which I found refreshing. Fresh is the word I would use the describe them, as fresh and deep fried can be. My son got the kids burger and although he enjoyed the fries comparing them to In 'n Out he did not like the burger. Didn't mesh with his kids palate. The thing that I found disappointing was although the burger patty was smaller, a kids portion, the bun was full sized. It was a lot of bread and my son even compared it to the old Wendy's commercial, "Where's the Beef?" I'm proud he remembers the randomness I expose him to. The atmosphere is a little industrial, but the location is central in downtown SLO, so it's very walkable and findable. Last time we were there they had some great 1960s-70s rock n' roll and folk on, and the television was muted, so that was really nice. Came here as part of a Yelp event and had a chance to peek at the menu on the walk over. They have many types of meat and meatless options. If you're a vegetarian or vegan they do have a lot of choices for you. After deciding on the bison burger Jalo Pkwy style we also got a side of fries and fried pickles. The fried pickles were so good since it had a kick of spiciness to them. The cornmeal batter was perfectly done with some red chili flakes. The bison burger came out perfect and was so juicy. The Jalo Pkwy toppings made the burger over the top with the fried egg and smoked mozz. Gloria, our server, was great! She did an excellent job checking on us and made sure everything was going good. I don't know how you make a burger flavorless, but they somehow nailed it. If their policy is to not use salt and pepper, they should consider changing it. The bacon added some savoriness to it, but it just didn't help in the overall end result. I don't know if their fries are always served lukewarm and limp/soggy, but that is another part of my meal that was memorable for the wrong reason. To top it off, I only saw the staff one time, when they dropped off my water and food, and it was not a busy Wednesday afternoon. Don't know that there's much reason to revisit. read more

The bun was brioche. the veggies tasted fresh. the burger and the fries were not greasy. It is probably the healthiest tasting burger we have ever had. We are sad that this is the only location in california because we love it so much and can't wait to come back. The beef burger just melted in my mouth. I don't eat burgers often but this one was amazing. I would say it's the best burger I had so far.
