My husband ordered a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings, and a cup of clam chowder soup. The cheeseburger was pretty good. The burger was moist and juicy, good flavor. It might have had a little too much salt in one spot of the burger. The other part of the burger tasted fine. Weird, did not sprinkle the salt evenly. The curly fries were hot and crispy. The food is good. We've eaten here several times before going to an A's or River Cats baseball game. We've had various burgers and melts. All have been good. You place and pay for your order at the counter and carry your drink back to your table. They do bring your food to your table, but that's it. You have to go back up to the counter for refills or if you need anything. The folks working there are pleasant enough, but there's no service to speak of. That always leaves me wondering what kind of tip to leave, if any. I resent being expected to accept their 20% default tip rates on the credit card processor, especially since you're paying in advance. I usually decline the default tip and go back after we're done and drop a couple dollars in the jar. The tip wars continue, I guess. The ambiance is fun. My friend and I ended up at Burgers & Brew after leaving a nearby restaurant where we waited about 10 minutes without being acknowledged. Thankfully, the experience here was the complete opposite.
