I'll admit it. I was skeptical about bringing my niece, nephews and their dad here for lunch, especially because it was one of their birthdays. I'd been here decades ago for an after-work drink. It wasn't memorable. At first glance, it's just a dark bar on the first floor. One of the kids actually asked, "Are we allowed in here?" I saw a few other kids already inside so we decided to go for it. After a lukewarm reception from the bartender, who just waved us toward the back of the room to "order food over there," we found the menu and ordered lunch directly with the cooks in the kitchen. They were friendly enough and got our order exactly right. I'm not a fan of having to order twice and pay separately for food and drinks, but that's how they do it here. Up, up to the third floor we went, where we finally found a table big enough to seat all five of us. You can't say there's not a lot to look at here. Very kitschy, but also kind of junky, dusty and sticky. One kid enjoyed a free game of pinball while we waited...and waited...for our name to be called to pick up our food from the kitchen two floors down. Service would be nice, but not a thing here. I have to say, the burgers were huge and very tasty, as were the abundant curly fries and the onion rings. And we got free refills on the sodas (which, of course, we had to go downstairs to get ourselves). Overall, I'd give 3.5 stars but round up for generous portions of tasty grub. read more

I will never go to this place ever again. I came there with my friends and the bartender immediately told my friend she can't come in because she is drunk. My friend had a stroke so she walks differently and he assumed she was drunk. We pulled the bartender to the side and told him she had a stroke and is sober. He then said she can come in but he won't serve her alcohol. He discriminated against a stroke victim. We left and went to Finnegans. It was my 1st time being there and we had a blast. I absolutely loved the atmosphere in this saloon. So many fun trinkets on the walls and even arcade games and a pool table to keep us entertained. We heard they are popular for the wings and they did not disappoint, we even took leftovers for our plane ride back to FL. Their portions were huge. When my friend Tom T. and I asked for a lunch recommendation at the Old Town Sacramento Visitor Center, the gentleman working there didn't hesitate as he promptly recommended Fanny Ann's Saloon! We took his advice and I'm glad we checked this place out! Walking up, the building looks so historic and once inside, it's sensory overload in the best way with all of the neon lights, old posters, quirky signs, and layers of memorabilia covering nearly every inch of wall space. The place is multi-level and each floor feels a little different. The first floor has the bar and food window while upstairs you'll discover a mix of tables and even some vintage arcade games! Now, the food... I couldn't resist ordering the Jiffy Dog with deep fried zucchini slices! Peanut butter on a hot dog sounds like something out of a dare, but wow it was surprisingly good! The salty, savory, slightly sweet combo was bizarrely delicious. Prices were reasonable (especially in such a touristy spot) and the portion size was decent. Service was surprisingly attentive, even though the setup is casual as you place your order at the window and wait for your number to be called. Staff had great senses of humor which I love. I also loved the little local touch - they offer a discount if you're heading to a same day baseball game. If you're wandering through Old Sacramento and want more than just a standard tourist bite, I would recommend Fanny Ann's. Quirky nicely decorated with random stuff place over three floors, looks like a dive bar which it is, friendly efficient service, essentially just burgers and fries with tons of liquor and beers. A group of 8 friends and myself went to this establishment on 8/5/2026 and experienced a disrespectful, uncomfortable and discriminatory situation from the bartender named Anthony. One of the ladies in the group is physically impaired and sometimes needs assistance walking and/or sitting. When walking up to the bar, Anthony quickly announced over the bar amongst a group of strangers that my friend had enough to drink, he refused to serve her any alcohol which was a total assumption and then proceeded to ask her to leave. I pulled him to the side and explained her impairment and further explained that she was not drunk, and in fact you could visibly look at some of her features to validate what I was saying. Anthony still refused to serve her any alcohol but stated that she could sit down at the bar. This being a new impairment, my once fully healthy friend dealing with this new handicap, was visibly embarrassed and her mood completely changed. Another friend in the group tried to explain to Anthony again the handicap of our friend but to no avail. At this point, we left the establishment and went across the street to Finnegans were we encountered a totally different experience! The Bartender was amazingly friendly; the food was good and the service was an all-around mood changer. With all this being said, I have no intentions of returning to Fanny Ann's or spending money where differences are not recognized or treated equally. My hope is that better on the job training is given to Fanny Ann's staff so in the future, no one is made to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed for being handicap. read more

Found this restaurant in Old Town Sac because of a Tik Toker. Ambiance- This restaurant is definitely a Saloon. It's very narrow, but has 4 floors of all kinds of cool decorations and knick knacks in every nook & cranny. It is cool, western, creepy fun. The first floor is where the main bar is. That's where you order your drinks, water, soda, ect...separately. You order your food from the menu on the wall and pay and they take your name and call out your order. 2nd floor is where the restrooms are. It is a little creepy and I spent 60 hours on a train. Lol. 2nd floor has a narrow hallway with booths. 3rd floor has all the pinball machines and seating areas to eat. The basement has an Italian bistro vibe with red gingham tablecloths. I chose to eat on the 3rd floor with the pinball machines. Food- I ordered The Fannys finest which is an Angus beef burger on a brioche bun. Brioche bun- Perfectly toasted and buttery Patty- Delicious- cooked perfectly medium, seasoned well American cheese and toppings- yummy Onion Rings- Delicious and crunchy, that crunch and flavor was just top notch Ranch- Their ranch is housemaid with buttermilk. Their Bleu cheese is also house made. This ranch was the most delicious ranch I've ever eaten. Scary story- The server let me know that she was working downstairs when they were closed and saw a man in all orange. We were here on New Year's Day and they were open. Happy hour is till 8pm so there is a lot of time to score on happy hour. They also have 10% off on Kings game day. They have a single bar when you walk in. They have an additional bar downstairs, but I've never seen it open. The bar may be busy, but we've never had an issue with service. They are really good at seeing you and serving you. Food is ordered in the back at the grill and then they will call your name through their PA system when it's ready or if you're sitting at the bar they will bring it to you. This is a great place to eat on game day. As long as the game isn't on a Monday as they are closed on Monday's. read more

When I went to get my drinks and went to sit down in the beautiful atmosphere where there is games and more I noticed that my Diet Pepsi wasn't very good it had gas in it so I went back down and brought it up to the guy serving drinks he was rude about it I asked for another Diet Pepsi and instead of him saying oh sure let me make it right he said it's going to not have gas since you think it doesn't taste good kind of rude about it. The food was all warm and well done next time we go we will definitely be taking our own drinks! We love coming here and never had somewhat of a rude response or bad service other than this one time. The bar isn't huge but they have plenty of options for everyone at their disposal. There's an upstairs which holds the restrooms and video games like pinball and older arcade games. After walking around all day and having fun in Old Sacramento this was our last stop of the night .It was a Thursday night so glad they are open late . My friend and I were surprised how huge this place was !It has so many levels of floors . I believe it's 4 floors ? It's like a museum in there !! So many things to look at . One of the upstairs has a-lot of vintage arcade games and more seating tables . This place was cool lol . It's your typical bar noting fancy the staff was nice and attentive. We asked if we can order food the guy at the bar said kitchen was supposed to close already but that he would check if the cook was still cooking . He said yes to go ordered our food . I have been coming to Fanny Ann's for over 20 years. In my younger days, my girlfriend's and I would come on Friday nights and drink and dance our little hearts out. I have fond memories of the bartender lining up BJ shots for us on the bar and us all clasping our hands behind our backs and having a go! I remember dates here scarfing down bar food in the booths in the basement and playing arcade games on the upper levels. Now, as a more mature wife and mother, it's a place where I can stop in and have a drink with friends and we can stroll down memory lane (that is if we can hear each other talk over the music!) This bar can be loud and squished and feel grimy but if you suspend judgement and give in to the atmosphere, you will most likely have a great time here. read more

During my 20's I made it a habit to visit a cheap bar or two prior to prancing or sometimes stumbling into a local nightclub (the simple thought of this is making me shake my head with embarrassment). Fast forward to me being in my late 30's, some friends and I were looking for a place to have a drink or two prior to having dinner. You're probably wondering, "why not just have drinks at the restaurant that you plan on visiting?"...good question! The place that we planned on having dinner would more than likely have aesthetically pleasing drinks that photographed well; however, these drinks probably contained a shot or less of alcohol. Which is why we decided to pay Fanny Ann's Saloon a quick visit! As we entered Fanny Ann's Saloon, I immediately was taken back to a time when I wasn't responsible for anyone but myself (this is dangerous) and my only worry was submitting an essay that I procrastinated on in a timely manner. As I looked around, I could observe that almost nothing had changed (even down to the restrooms with the signs that always confused both men and women after a couple of drinks). As we found seats at the bar, we were greeted by the bartender who immediately requested our orders. I opted for a traditional margarita with mid-shelf tequila. Although the margarita wasn't decorated with two different fruits and presented in a cute glass, it was large and fuerte! If you're looking for good strong drinks that won't have you waking up the next morning wondering how you spent the equivalent of your monthly car insurance bill on drinks, I highly recommend Fanny Ann's Saloon. read more

On yelp it says the bar closes at 2, it was about 12 am and when we left his friends were still sitting at the bar. Dude sucked. Other than that the bar is great, that guy just ruins it. read more
