Hi Burgerville, I use to really enjoy the Halibut Fish n Chips at this location but every time I have ordered as of recently it has come out soggy and smelling fishy, it's almost as if you are using the cod instead of the halibut. Since halibut doesn't have a fishy smell and cod does. Also you need to leave it in the deep fryer longer so the filets become crispier, every time I have had it comes out soggy and flimsy. read more

Often times, my son comes back from Portland with "restaurant " recommendations. So far, he has highlighted Voodoo Doughnuts (check), the Fat City Cafe (soon), and Burgerville (It's Organic!). I don't know about that, but the Burgerville slogan does say "Fresh - Local - Sustainable". And that it is. Several previous reviewers have debated comparisons to "In-N-Out". I personally think we're talking apples and oranges. I really like Burgerville. We stopped here one afternoon after a long day of visiting various Portland-area schools. This is not fine dining, but it's fast food that's a cut above. My Tillamook Cheeseburger, fries, and hazelnut chocolate shake (with real ice cream) were all delicious. I have lived in Portland my whole life and 20 years ago this place may have been good. Last weekend, I went through the drive through and ordered a 16oz chocolate shake for $5.95. I paid at the window with a credit card and was informed that if I wanted to leave a tip, to note there is a button to do so, in the amounts, I believe of 10%, 15% or 20%. The percentage amount is irrelevant, really. My shake was small, and had vanilla ice cream mixed in with light chocolate ice cream. For some reason, I thought I was going to get a hand scooped, real ice cream shake. What I got, was a extremely over priced milkshake that was just poured out of a machine , and was no better than one you would get from McDonald's for half the price , very sugary sweet. If I wanted a McDonald's type shake, I would have gone there. Add to that, being asked, or having it suggested to me to add a tip when I am not being waited on , or serviced in any special way, just being poured , and handed a shake , is ridiculous. I waited tables for over 10 years. You dont deserve a tip for shoving a hamburger in a bag and handing it over the counter to someone. I will not be coming back to any Burgerville, and management needs to stop the practice of pandering for tips and pay their employees a better wage, instead of looking to customers to do it for them. read more

I have never had a problem with this Burgerville location before. However, when I went there the other day the lady taking my order was very rude and belittling. I was trying to order for someone else and I had to ask some questions to make sure I was getting the correct thing. The lady answered in a very rude and disrespectful tone and made me feel stupid. Who'd have thunk that Burgerville could do justice to a pulled pork sandwich? Not I said the spider. Look they make some quality fast casual burgers and fries and of course if you've been here you know all about the shakes. But pulled pork? With a cherry slaw? And fried asparagus on the menu as well? What gives? I didn't have any asparagus but the pulled pork surprised me. I'm usually a heavy on the spices that make you sweat when I eat something of this nature, but this was sweet and just a bit tangy and I had no problems with that whatsoever. It was good. The slaw was crunchy and the meat was not stringy or lacking in any way. I had some fries and a fresh chocolate strawberry shake to go with it and Burgerville's shakes are always on point. I guess if you've been here you know the deal, if you haven't, don't judge a fast casual restaurant by the poor reputation of other fast food places. Burgerville is definitely different. The waffle fries were stale like they had been made in a large batch and had bee sitting there for a while. The meat had no flavor at all! The lettuce, cheese, tomato, all seemed fresh. I had a great experience here at Burgerville when I was needing a break from my room mates. To be fair...I absolutely love In-n-Out and will forever remain faithful to their burgers. I was so spoiled coming from Texas where they've built their second empire practically. Austin also has Shake Shack (Meh) but I know I tend to side more with classic style, thin patty, soft bread, and illustrious special sauce for my go-to. I am hoping they'll move upward into Northern Oregon but can't really find myself down in Medford for my fix. Enter Burgerville. Many people had told me that I should check this place out. They're a local chain who source local as much as they can. I'm not easily fooled into shakes (I eat and chew my calories...not suck them down) but they had their seasonal marionberry sundae so I ordered it along with my bleu cheese burger and regular side of fries. About 8-9 minutes later, a very nice attendant brought out my order with a smile and mentioned that they would make the sundae for me later. The fries are good in the way that they were fresh, piping hot, and crispy. Good even salt and the texture was spot on. I dig. The progression is good. Next up...burger. Burger was...good. Didn't quite scratch my itch but the patty did taste beefy (well done...so a wee bit dry). The bleu cheese was generous and the bacon tasty (though not crispy). Bun left something to be desired...it was dry and couldn't totally be mistaken as stale. I love In-n-Out buns. They're so soft and totally serve as the perfect foil for that ubiquitous orange cheese and grease. I don't care what anyone says...grease is flavor. I don't want it to drown in it but there should be a little bit of grease. This one didn't have any. It's weird to me. It's a burger with meat....it should have some grease. This burger had some mayo...perhaps I just need to try a classic burger of theirs? They didn't want to muddle the bleu cheese flavor and I respect that. I'll come back and sample an original/classic and report back. Sundae was good. Their ice cream/soft serve is pretty dense. It's creamy, not very vanilla-y, but it's pretty rich. The marionberry compote they put on top was nice, tart, not very sweet...but the ice cream drowned out a bit of its flavor. I may have liked it better mixed in but there was so much compote on it that I didn't mind. I had a hearty amount with every spoonful and I was pretty happy. It's a good, fast style burger place and I was really happy with service and the attentiveness to the presentation of my purchases. Today I went through the drive thu and asked for 4 piece fish and chips with no fries. They said it's gonna be $16.99 even though online it says $12.99. When I asked the prices of the items kindly the employees acted very rude. I like that they have seasonal items, because that helps us to connect more with our food as it becomes available. Some of my favorites: Rosemary fries, pepper-bacon cheeseburger, strawberry shortcake, batter-dipped asparagus spears, golden waffle fries, cherry-chocolate shake, halibut fish sandwich. I am really upset with the staff at this burgerville and the new policies of charging for barbecue sauce. I ordered 6 chicken strips and they only gave me one sauce when I asked for a second they said that would be .25$. When I said why when I get a double order of chicken strips can't I get two barbecue sauces. The woman shut her window and walked away. I was not angry or inappropriate I just asked a reasonable question. I don't understand why they charge for their sauces when the prices are so high already. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew this was a unique Burgerville. I was greeted by Audrey, who took my order and walked me through the nuances of the burger toppings. She was just the right balance of cheerful and pleasant with a side order of efficiency. I had barely sat down at the CLEAN TABLE when my fresh strawberry sundae arrived. This was followed quickly by my burger with custom toppings and a crisp spring salad. Not a single leaf was wilted and the burger was piping hot and delicious. The manager made the rounds in the dining room, and was coaching his team on the finer points of cleaning. The dining room was spotless, and I heard him address his people with please and thank you, which in this day and age is rare courtesy. Sweet Jesus that was a good burger! The walla walla onion cheeseburger has left me dreaming of it. I would consider moving to the northwest because of Burgerville. The sustainable meats and such is a big huge bonus in my book. The best thing about Burgerville is that they are the pioneers of the fast food sweet potato fry. So thinking that a delicious cup of sweet potato fries was in my future, my hungry self goes to Burgerville. The cashier tells me that they are all out of sweet potato fries! My entire purpose of my visit is thrown into a tailspin! My order switches to fish and chips. So we find a seat across the decently clean and 50's themed dining room. My order comes and there is a fry orphan in my basket. Not just any orphan though, a sweet potato fry orphan. Overall, Burgerville is a great company which has a quality menu. I order some fries, and a drink. I didn't realize the $12.99 wasn't a combo price, and I spent $16.49 for fast food. I sat down, and waited for my food to be brought to me. The restaurant was clean, and inviting. My food came pretty quick. I couldn't believe my eyes. The pieces of fish were thin, and smaller than a hashbrown patty. Which was key the last time I was in with a four year old who couldn't decide what type of shake to have. This is why I babysit,,,,so I can return the children back to their rightful owners at the end of a painful raspberry or chocolate shake temper tantrum. Blue Cheese can be a bit risky for those that are gluten intolerant. I have had this salad multiple times with NO problems whatsoever. I know that there are brands of Blue Cheese that are gluten free. Used to be my favorite go to for a quick burger, but boy, it seems that things have surely changed since you went to the unions. The people could care less, they don't know your menu, or what goes on each burger, the hamburger is miniscule and the turkey burger seems to have also shrunk. Your old staff , even with special needs, were better than the people taking orders now. The good thing was we didn't need to wait in the drive through line when we went the other nite at almost 6 P M...The bad news is that I gather other people are starting to feel the same way I am feeling about returning to Burgerville, and perhaps found another burger better elsewhere.
