Went here tonight for dinner. We had heard about this place from some family members, so we decided to give it a try. I must say that it is a very cool and unique atmosphere. The establishment was clean, and the service was very good as well. I really like the fact that you can create your own burger. I decided to try the pretzel bun. I thought that the roll was going to be like a typical pretzel roll, but I was wrong. It was surprisingly soft and somewhat chewy. The burger was cooked perfectly, and it was delicious. The food was less than desirable. How do you mess up a burger? Ask 'The Burg'r Barn'! Burgers overdone and over priced. Our tomatoes were mushy and not fresh. Like they been setting out all day. Greasy homemade potato chips. Our waitress, 'BJ', was vacant for most of the time. Had a bit of an attitude with my wife. There is not a thing in the world, different or special about this dump. Way better places to grab a bite to eat than this place! Food is "OK" and service is Sub-par. There seems to be a major issue with the staff as I clearly am not the only one who's had an issue. Beginning to think it's a management issue. Have been here twice and probably won't be back. After this past time I decided to check yelp if others were complaining about the staff and service. Seems that there are some others who feel the same way. This past time, the waitress took our order and literally did not return until it was time to pay. Came here for late lunch w/ family on a weekend. While the food was good, the service definitely left something to be desired. The bloody Mary was just Ok, would not order again. NO THANKS! Mediocre food at top dollar prices. Grandma and I took the 2 grandkids out for 2 burgers and 2 hot dogs. I about fell over when the bill came to $59.00. Cooks forgot the cheese on the kid's hot dog, put one of the burgers on the wrong bread - rye not sourdough, and a Medium Well burger was served to us RARE! My husband and I went to Burg'r Bar on a Saturday for brunch. I understand this is a busy time and we expected a wait. We waited approximately 20 minutes to be sat, which was fine... but then we sat at our table for over 10 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. My husband was ready to leave as we had not even been greeted, but I did not want to have to go repeat a wait somewhere else. By the time our server arrived, we were able to place our food order, however we waited at least 5 more minutes before we actually received our coffees. Our server never introduced herself and I don't believe she even actually looked at us. I understand being busy, but the experience was underwhelming to say the least. To continue the theme, our food took significantly longer than I would've expected, but it was ok. I ordered a Benedict which came out room temperature and the English muffin was so chewy I found it difficult to even cut. The food is served on paper plates which despite being tacky was awful as it was windy outside. Thankfully, my husband has good reflexes, because after I was done eating my plate nearly blew into my lap. Our empty plates remained in front of us despite the fact that it took forever to receive our check as well. There are definitely better places to eat in this area, I would consider one of them before dining here again. read more

I live in Punta Gorda and love to try new places, so this place seemed like an interesting addition to the historic area PG. WELL, were were extremely disappointed. It started from the very beginning with the less then courteous hostess who had a miserable face on as soon as we walked in the door. Im a customer service manager so I definitely notice things like this. She stated it would be a 15 minute wait because the kitchen was behind. We agreed to wait but they made us sit in the waiting area...even though 85% of the tables were open. Why not just let us sit and have our drinks while we wait? Anyway...waitress was clueless...they came out and told us the cook dropped 80 wings ...so our order would take another 20 min. Yay. Kindly we nod and say its ok. Then we get undercooked wings. We specifically ordered all the flat wings because it was my son's birthday and he only eats those...of course, like in any restaurant, we know there is an upcharge for that. No, the come out with hardly any flats and undercooked again. Manager was very nice but kept reiterating that she checked the temperature so there was no way they could be. I dont care..just take it off the bill. The atmosphere sucked...the hostess Brianna, was definitely NOT the face they should have greeting customers. I have been here many times before and everything was great five stars. Restaurant is nice inside and out, very comfortable. Today breakfast was a two star. The owner was there, and the food wasn't where it has been on previous visits before. Server didn't know the menu Toast wasn't toasted Hash browns were mushy and barely brown I had the chili omelet and they didn't bring out or offer the sour cream as stated on the menu. It's a simple breakfast and with not more than two or three tables they should get it right. I say this because I like the restaurant, and would like someone to watch what's going on. Went to Burg'r Bar for lunch. It is a cute place just outside of downtown Punta Gorda, with outdoor patios on both front and back of building. It is a local version of one of the burger focused spots that have become popular. The menu is primarily burgers with the option to build your own, where you can choose burger, chicken, turkey patty, garden burger, or portobello mushroom, than choice of cheese, bun, and toppings. We both got burgers, they were cooked as requested and had generous amount of toppings. The burgers come with fries, but you could choose from several other sides. I was not impressed with fries they were clearly frozen with some sort of coating. Our server was there when needed and the food came out quickly once we ordered. Overall, it was a decent experience and I would return, but there is stiff competition for good burgers everywhere now including Punta Gorda. read more

After my second visit I am here to say Punta Gorda now has a mediocre burger restaurant with a decent bar. $15 bacon n blue burger was missing something. The burger was stiff and turdy. Not juicy at all. The bacon was fine. The blue cheese was maybe blue cheese?. The ciabatta bun was dull and squishy. The onions were fine. $9 basket of onion rings. Half the basket was excellent half the basket the batter was crumbly and eventually left you holding a hot onion with no batter. Service was fast and friendly. So if your looking for a mediocre at best $50 dinner out for two burgers, onion rings and a couple drinks Burgr Bar just may be your place. read more

Fabulous food combination choices , professional and friendly staff, laid back atmosphere and a gem of a bartender who has oldies of energy and is ALWAYS friendly , Annie . You might miss the fact that a place called Burg'r bar is a mighty fine choice for breakfast , but it's the bomb . Burgers (both meat and meatless choices ) are simply wonderful . Late afternoon/Early evening review. Breakfast review coming later. The burgers are far from the best in town. They simply are a little better then the rest in town, which are all at bars. They are nothing special, however when combined with the 5 others in our party, and of course after a couple of adult beverages, we ordered. We all ordered med-rare burgers, but I think their definition of pink on the inside needs a little clarification. Mostly dried out medium to medium-well. My wife and I had the bison burger, meh. The rest had the standard 8oz burgers. They have 5 different options for rolls. None really impressed. Wife had the pretzel roll, and again, meh. Bar service was nice and the servers were fast and attentive, even when they had inside and curbside tables. They knew their menus. Other than that, it's just a burger joint parlaying the same food service items all the rest in town seem to use, with a fully stocked bar. Been her 2 times and both times where really bad. First time I went and ordered a cup of chili as an appetizer. I didn't like it but didn't send it back. The server saw I didn't eat it and asked if it was ok.. I said I didn't like it so he had the manager come over who tells me, " I tasted it this morning and it was really not good" so I asked why he would sell it to me? Met a friend for a quick lunch which ended up being not so quick. Service was awful. The food is very good but our sever couldn't quite get it together...it isn't terribly inexpensive either...a turkey burger with fries, a cup of soup, and ice tea for $18. Never got asked about refills, had to find my own sweetener. Also, and it could be me, but I find it almost a crime to charge $3 for ice teas. Water, ice and a teabag. Stopped in here for a quick lunch. Had one of the specialty burgers. Sourdough with grilled mushrooms onions and cheese. It was very good. The fries were ok. I like more of a fresh cut fry. Personal preference. The place looks great. The service was fast and great. The recommendations that I have would be to have more specialty burgers. I love to try new things and would prefer to have the combinations done for me. They have enough topping on the ala cart part of the menu but would have loved to have more chef inspired burgers. The biggest down side to me is the price. I paid $19.00 for a burger, fries, club soda tax and 3$ tip. Kind of pricy for a burger. I was in town for an event and this place was highly rated by my hotel. The parking lot was packed. I had to wait 5 or so minutes to park. The place (including bathroom) was clean and the staff was friendly. It had both indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered a medium rare BBQ burger and fries. The fries were delicious and crispy. The burger looked better than it tasted. The burger was closer to medium than medium rare and I just didn't think the meat had much flavor. It wasn't bad, but for $14 before tax and tip, I expected it to be better. I would have been happier spending $12 out the door at Shake Shack. I'd give this a 3.5 if I had the ability but don't think it is worth a 4. read more
