Somebody please educate me. What was this building used for before Burlington moved and cannibalized it? I mean, the Burlington portion, what exactly was here before them, you can tell it wasn't built for them, it was some kind of department store for sure. Yes, I am aware that a Toys R Us was here before. Nothing more chilling than seeing the ghost signage and dark store when you walk towards the front door. I am also aware that there were some kind of truck dealership. But I am baffled by what this business was. Much like the nearby mall, this should probably be vacated. This Burlington is the last man standing in this property. If you want to call it that. They are wobbling. My god why did I even come here? Oh, that's right, I needed an item and I though this might be a great place to try to find that item. I was wrong. Why did I get so irritated by just walking into this store? Why is it that every Burlington you go to they intentionally shrink the store footprint and have so much empty space to go through. But not only is the footprint shrunk, the stock is shrunk as well. That shrunken stock is basically thrown about. I think there was more stock on the floor than on the racks. The customers in here really didn't care that they were just not putting it back and then stepping on it. I just couldn't focus on shopping in here. I was overstimulated by the stock all over the place and then the sensors on the shoes kept going off. With the noise and my OCD kicking into high gear, I had to leave. Good thing I did too, because their stock was very limited. Not to mention that I was too afraid to even venture up to the second floor. If this main floor was like this, I didn't even want to see the mess upstairs. This store is disgusting in every matter of the word. It's dirty. It's not organized in the least. It's sketchy. A disaster of a retail store!!! Nothing is organized, all of the aisles are narrow and cramped with stuff in the way. When people go around with their carts, they either run into you or there's no room to go around since there is only enough room for one person. There is nobody on the floor who can help you if you have a question on something. Customer service is a joke at this place, that's for sure. People who go here don't care, either. They simply get in your way, never say "Excuse me" or "Sorry." Pretty rude and inconsiderate in my opinion. read more

Overall this store is a mess- both literally and figuratively. I've come in a couple of times and the store is often crammed full of stuff. You'll be sure to find merchandise on the floor, placed in the wrong location and often times damaged. I actually find it white difficult to shop in this store. There's always children running around screaming who aren't supervised. The clothing is often in the wrong spot and so crammed you can't really browse. There is a clearance section upstairs but most items are damaged or aren't actually on sale. It's sort of frustrating because if you find something in the clearance that isn't on sale, you'll have a hard time locating the item elsewhere in the store. I would say I only buy something 40% do the time I come. I often leave due to frustration. read more

The checkout lines are ALWAYS long. Sometimes I have only one item to purchase but always end up standing in line for over 30 minutes. Why is it this way??? And why hasn't ANYTHING been done about it? There's usually only 3 cashiers working when the line is wrapped around the front area. Other employees and the manager just roam around in the back chit chatting. They all always seem to be in a bad mood. Especially the manager. Never an apology for making us wait in line for so long or nothing. Just terrible service all around. SMH. read more

Especially when this place is located right in the heart of Gaithersburg, which is both financially and culturally diverse. I left 2 cart fulls of clothes and shoes for my sons when I became fully aware of the extent of unsanitary conditions in the store. After taking my youngest to the bathroom. I left without looking back except to take pictures. EVERYTHING IN THAT PLACE IS DIRTY!!! The floor, the carts, the MERCHANDISE, we are in the middle of a respiratory based viral pandemic, when I say not even the air you breath is NOT safe well ...just look at the pictures...i almost had my 8 year old pee outside of he coulda held it!!! I am highly disappointed with the level of inefficiency at this store. I stood in a long line which is fine as it is the holiday season and Burlington is never known for their efficiency in check out process. A sales associate comes to ask me to step forward. Upon processing my transaction I realized that my debit card was locked because of the processing as credit card. I left the store to try and call my bank to unlock the card and in that small window the items I purchased was misplaced. Burlington really needs to do better with communication, organization and customer service. read more

This place it's supposed to close at midnight and they close at 8:30pm everyday( sign at the door) Very frustrating having to drive a few miles thinking that they are open base on their website and Google hours. I mentioned in my previous Sears (Gaithersburg) review that I had to go on an emergency clothing run. Well, it happened again as someone told me that I needed a tie for my next day's meeting (before this, everyone told me to dress business casual, grrrr). Anyhow, I was near this Burlington Coat Factory (located right next to a Toys R Us, bonus!) so I dashed in to grab a couple ties. "Factory" is right, this thing looks like a warehouse of clothing. Much like Marshall's, there are lots of oddball impulse buy items near the registers, but the actual clothing itself is very neatly arranged. For this particular day, I was happy to find the ties arranged in circles on two tables (with more hanging on racks behind the tables). I managed to pick up two ties for $23, which is really nice (one CK, one Sean John). I found everything clean and the store staff was friendly. That said, I have to say the cashiers really took their sweeeeeet time checking people out. I only had about two people in front of me, but it took at least ten minutes for me to get checked out. Maybe things just move slower here than they do in my parts. I do confess that I am very used to New York City "check out speed" which generally is under two minutes. That said, I was glad this store was here since I needed something not too expensive in a pinch. read more

This place isn't that bad. I stopped in to browse a few weeks ago and although I didn't walk out with much, I thought they had a pretty good selection of shoes, clothes, accessories, household items, etc. (men, ladies, kids). I'd prefer to go to Nordstrom Rack in Gaithersburg if I want to rummage through merchandise to find a "steal". However, their prices were pretty cheap in comparison to the competition (Marshalls, Ross, etc.). They didn't carry a lot of high-end stuff but I saw some pretty good quality items. I'll definitely be back; the place was clean and I liked the layout. I agree with my fellow yelper, the racks are widely spaced so you don't feel claustrophobic. I give them 3 stars for their no hassle return policy. I returned a coat with the tags removed, but I had the receipt. They accepted it and gave me cash back, no questions asked. read more

I found a costume for a dog in a messy display on the floor, and I wanted to buy it. It had a price tag. The cashier kindly told me that it was a donation piece, and I kindly asked why it was on the floor. If something is on the floor WITH A PRICE TAG, one has the right to buy it. I asked to speak to the manager. KIZCI MOTLER. I asked to pay ten times more than the price tag (over the donation value). As if she owned the place, Kizci refused to sell me the piece with an aggressive and mean attitude. I asked why she allowed the piece to be on display if it wasn't to be sold. I asked if she could find a solution, and she said she didn't want to. I've never been so insulted as a customer before. She didn't even let me finish my sentences. After Kizci left, I said to the cashiers that I hoped they'd get a new manager soon, and they agreed. The store is in horrible shape, and I took pictures as proof. I know you are an affordable store, but this is no excuse for the lack of customer care or appreciation shown by the Burlington representatives. I've never been treated so badly before during a shopping experience. Kizci doesn't deserve this position, and I will be following the turnout. read more

Ehhh... I admit, it's me. As I've become older, my tolerence for standing around discombobulated racks of clothes digging for that one "treasure" has decreased dramatically. My time, sanity and patience is worth more then that. However, I do have to say - there were plenty of space between the racks, instead of being completely squeezed in like rotting sardines. So, one star bump. But honestly, the prices didn't seem *that* much lower to me, and I would have a bigger selection at any department store. read more

It's Burlington Coat Factory. I wouldn't come here expecting customer service (or human contact) anywhere but the cash register. They have a person who seems to service the "baby depot," but she was deeply involved with another customer so I didn't have direct contact with her. I was actually impressed with the variety - they have pretty much everything you need: cribs with matching dressers, mattresses, stollers, playpens, carseats, a full aisle of diaper bags, and lots of baby clothes, including a large clearance section separated by gender, adjacent to the toddler/children's clothes. And yes, while they mainly offer lower-end brands, everything I saw was affordable. They apparently offer a baby registry, but with a combination of common sense and advice (via Baby Bargains), the baby registry here would be my last resort (see prior reference to lack of human contact/customer service). I thought I had seen it all but I went further and there were even more items. Unfortunately some of the items looked like they had been in the store for a while, and some of the boxes were open and/or partially damaged. Most of the crib mattresses were encased in plastic, but the plastic had debris - like dried mud or something, which made me reluctant to touch them. Not everything was dirty but I probably wouldn't bring my baby shopping with me here (I had just decided that I would definitely bring my baby to Great Beginnings with the nice bathroom and separate diaper changing room and lounge/eating/nursing area with vending machine) - Burlington's bathroom/changing area was dirty and depressing. Anyway, I was actually overwhelmed with baby shopping by the time I stopped by, having just come from Great Beginnings, but I plan on going back! read more

Okay, now this is first time here and so when I went it looked a hot damn mess for real. There wasn't much of a selection and what I did find was a good deal but damn at how dirty and messy the place was. And no I don't blame the staff because I have a feeling the individuals who run through everything leave it as it is. The place just left a lot to be desired and one of the down falls of shopping in these discount places is how junky everything looks or is. I was going ot turn around and shop for some rain boots but was so disgusted with the store I couldn't get to the line fast enough While there it was long but moved quickly. The cashiers spoke nicely, ran up everything with no problems, and was for the most part pleasant. They should change the name to Burlington Clothing factory. Last night I took my son to get a coat. The entire store had 1 coat for a boy 7/8 size . . . 1 coat?!!! They did however have a giant selection of clothing. Fortunately for us he was happy with the one coat they had and we stood in line for 11 minutes to make the purchase. Another patron was using the only checkout as her own personal complaint and price checker. Every item was debated and questioned as to the pricing. Eventually the only cashier, helped get another worker over to us and we were able to check out. Over all, a 2 out of 5 star experience. read more

The building smells really funny... Like mold. That being said I still like shopping here for workout attire. One can get really good deals here and things are easy to find. I have been to other burlingtons located in malls that smell much nicer (I mean normal smelling), but I prefer to go here because I can find what I am actually looking for. And now I equate that moldy smell with deals. (the toysrus adjacent to it smells even worse but the deals are not as good). read more

This place is great for kitchen and home décor items. Recently moved with basically my clothes. One of the things I had to buy was pots and pans as I do cook a lot. They had a lot of choices and I ended up buying Lenox all-clad stainless at a deep deep discount as it's no longer manufactured. I also wanted a cheap non-stick skillet with a 10.5 inch lid. The lid would double for one of the pans I already own. They had an entire wall of skillets, with and without lids. I found two that would fit exactly. Brand name: Emeril. They had a lot of small kitchen gadgets and I loaded up on those necessities. Along with kitchen towels. I bought a couple of small home décor items for the living room. Their luggage was decent. I needed a skinny rolling piece to hold my laptop and allow me to navigate the train aisles without hitting folks. Found something for $20. It looked as though they have loads of mens and women's clothing but I need to find tall women's and they didn't have any. I needed to get a cheap baby crib and high chair for a visiting toddler. They did have a decent selection of baby items but not the simpler stuff. I didn't need a 3-way crib that converts to a toddler bed. Just a mattress and side slats that meet safety standards. Checking out is usually slow and the signage is confusing because they keep 2 distinct lines for checking out and for returns. However the signs ... they don't impart the necessary info. I waited in one line forever and got up to the front and got directed to the end of the other line. Apparently I was in the Returns line. This is located near the Mall and across from a strip mall. It shares a building with Toys-R-Us. Parking is plentiful. read more

So, it's a discount store, therefore I expected it to be pretty disorganized and didn't go for a great atmosphere. I like digging through stuff to find decent deals. I also didn't find it smelled any weirder than other clothing stores... Lakeforest Mall down the road smells much much funkier. Anyway, I was able to find decent prices on the items I was looking for, cheaper than buying online at Amazon. I did get reprimanded by the employee managing the fitting room at the back of the first floor, though, because it was apparently only for men. There are no signs labeling the fitting rooms as gender-specific, but whatever I just walked over to the fitting room in the women's section. It was just inconvenient since they segregate the activewear, and the men's fitting rooms are closer than the women's. On the plus side, I was looking to buy an item that didn't have a price tag, and was the only one of its kind (specific brand). The employee that helped me couldn't figure out the price so she just handed me a similar item and told me to tell the cashier, who applied the price of the other item to my item. Honestly, the cashier just probably didn't want to take the time to figure out the actual price of my item, but I didn't mind since it was less hassle. The line also moved quickly and I was done checking out in less than 20 minutes from the time I got in line. Is this a fantastic store you should plan a special trip out to visit? No. But it's convenient if you need/want something right away and live nearby. Parking is also plentiful. read more

Customer service was awful, the cashier give me a look when she asked me the reason for return (didn't know the item was damaged when I first bought it), I told her the item was damaged when I got it and she just doubt me like I damage the item myself. The manager there was also make me speechless, asked me the reason for return then walk away without a word. Never want to go back anymore. read more

This is the worst Burlington I've been to in a while. The selection is poor. There's so much space upstairs. there's room for them to have a better selection in home and children's clothes. Very unsatisfactory experience. I tried to exchange a purchase and because it was older than 60 days they did not want to give me a full refund. The bag I was trying to exchange I purchased for $69.99 and they wanted to give me only $24.99!!! I had the receipt, the tag was still on and the bag was in excelente condition. Really unhappy with their customer service too, the cashier was giving me an attitude when I tried to explain why I was making the return. She was the one that asked and then interrupted me when I was talking. I am just disappointed and wanted to share. read more

I need a place to vent how bad this place is, so I decided to do it on Yelp. F*cking horrible. I only came here because it is the closest baby store near my house. I will never be back here, and neithe should you. They only had 1 person working the entire baby section (basically about 2,000 or so square feet in my opinion) doing customer assistance, nursery furniture, registry, etc. First off, the HVAC system was broken in the baby section, so it is about 100 degrees in there (and I am not exaggerating) I spent about 10 minutes to chose the items I wanted to buy, including a rocking chair I already researched. Since I was buying furniture, I had to walk around for 10 minutes, trying to look for an employee until one could be found. It then took another 20 minutes to pull the chair out of the back. That totals 40 minutes sweating my ass off. Finally, I move to the cashier, where they only had 1 line open. Even with a bunch of people, they only use 1 line. After waiting in line for 10 minutes, it was my turn to check out. I had a baby coupon for $25 off $200+. It took 3 managers, and they still could not enter the coupon correctly. Finally, the 3rd manager decided to give me a better coupon deal (15% off everything), since they were too incompetent to get my $25 coupon working. I was here for a total of 1 hour. This is in between squeezing runs to the hospital, helping my wife, and setting my house up for the baby's arrival. I was expecting a 10-15 minute trip. I never have shopped here, and never will. The only reason I went here was it is down the street from my house, but I would have been better driving an extra 5 mins to Great Beginnings, or 10 minutes to Buy Buy Baby. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. I went to get some quick underwear and night cloths for a hotel I was staying at. Omg like can you say understaff . The lines are way too long there were only 2 registers open. It was so bad that people actually left out of the line because they were waiting for over 20 min in one line . 20 mins. You get what you pay for yes I did find some cute underwear for very cheap but I don't know if it was really worth it . Spare you time and just go pay the 2.00 more at a better retailer. I'm only giving BCF-Gaithersburg 3 stars because they have good prices on many name brands. I'm a bargain shopper and things I saw at Home Goods and Tuesday Morning were $2 or more dollars less at BCF. However, this is the most disorganized store I've ever been in (particulary the homewares and women's shoes). I used to shop at BCF area stores in the late 90s and they were nice. What happened? The check-out took forever because only two people were working the registers. At one point a woman appearing to be a supervisor came to assist and she was very apologetic to the customers. She said that she had maxed all the coverage for cashiers at that time. I wanted to jump in and help them because she and the staff were all nice, just understaffed. BCF should instill a more organized store and increase staff during peak shopping times. read more

I bought 5 dresses in original price. Put them on today didn't fit. Bring back to return with the receipt and all dresses new with tag. They DO NOT give me full refund because I got those items more than 30 days. They told me either take whatever they refund me for store credit or go donate all these items. I don't ever plan ahead to shop at Burlington because their inventory is always hit or miss. I like to go in with no expectations and every once in a while I find gems. That being said, the facility itself is old and run down. They seem to be rearranging everything upstairs because there is a lot of empty floor place. The home stuff here is cheaper than HomeGoods/Marshalls but you really have to get lucky to find nice stuff. The kids clothing seems to be well organized. The toy section is mediocre. Most of the time, there is a line, but the cashiers are pretty quick. The cashiers will ask for your phone number so that they are able to look up your transaction for returns, should you lose your receipt. read more
