Of the 5 (5oz) beers I sampled here, I loved them all. The pizza is sneaky delicious. Think Detroit style meets nostalgically good Pizza Hut. Service was great. Walk up and order. I might try to avoid peak crowds at my next visit. It gets quite loud in the front space. Or maybe I'll bring ear plugs, sit outside or sit at the back room tables. Either way, I'll be back a lot. Stopped into this very cool micro brewery in the north center neighborhood right along the Chicago river. It looks like a converted warehouse with a giant bow trust ceiling and exposed wood beams. Very large open area for serving and lots of tables and space at the bar. Glass windows allow you to see the production of beer with shiny metal vats. We were greeted right away and serves delicious beers and ciders. The owner had booked a blues band who filled the room with awesome music creating a true Chicago atmosphere. The whole place felt clean and brightly lit. The bathrooms were also well attended. We were told there was an outdoor space but we did not head out that evening. My wife and I are craft beer people . We love spending our weekends exploring the breweries around Chicagoland. Recently, my wife was gifted a growler of IPA from this brewery as an end of year teacher gift. PS - this is genius, best teacher gift ever. I'm a teacher myself and wish this could become a common trend . Forget Starbucks cards , give the teachers what they need after remote learning, craft beer !!! Anyways, the IPA here is absolutely delicious. It's flavorful and well balanced but not too intense. It's a beer you want to order a second of. I had a massage across the street. Afterwards, I decided to explore across and sit on the patio because there was a pocket of sunshine. We thoroughly enjoyed Walls of Jericho and Lion's Den IPA beers. The staff was very friendly, made recommendations and was very safe, following all the COVID protocols. Next time I will make sure I have room for lunch. There was a food truck there with delicious looking tacos. Looks like it would be a fun venue for a party. I like any new brewery that opens in Chicago and will try and go at least once there. Burning Bush, while has a cool design, and good location with good parking, and friendly bartenders, wasn't the best in terms of beer to offer. They only had 5 original beers, and 2 were sold out. The one I got, rio de vida, was definitely good, but compared to most breweries in the city, that's a low number. They did have a few guests taps, which was nice, got to try a Tasmanian Pale Ale that I hadn't had before. It's just a few blocks away from Twisted Hippo brewery, so you could easily hit up both in one visit. It has potential, and if they end up brewing more beers, I'd definitely come back and check them out. read more

Does Chicago need another new brewery? If we're talking about The Burning Bush, the answer is an emphatic "yes"! As of the end of February, they're still working on their brews, but the two I've tasted so far (an oatmeal stout and a really flavorful Mexican lager) were excellent. They also have a really good and varied list of guest beers. Nice space; nice people; very family friendly (with lemonade and "goldfish crackers" on the snack menu). Lots of free parking, particularly evenings and weekends, with plenty of space for the occasional food truck out in front. Great new spot! read more

LOVE. We are thrilled to welcome Burning Bush to the neighborhood. The staff is super friendly, we really liked their beers, and they have wine on tap, which was such a nice surprise. Food trucks on the weekends, light snacks are available or order your own food. The atmosphere made the whole experience. We liked that they had TVs on but no sound because they were playing music so it wasn't a "sports bar" feel. We will be back! read more

This is a great addition to a local craft beer scene already overflowing with quality options. So far I've tried 8 of the 11 beers they've brewed to date and not a bad one in the bunch. They do a nice mix of styles from the traditional (e.g. a Weizenbock that tasted straight out of Germany) to the more innovative, such as an IPA infused with spruce (delicious) or a basil beer. I find the beers to be a bit more subtle than many craft beers, yet with sufficient flavor and complexity. Due to Covid, my experience has been limited to growler pickups and a visit to the recently opened patio. Service has always been friendly and I look forward to when the nicely built out taproom can open up properly. read more

Have been here many times and keep coming back. The beer is excellent and the staff is always so friendly and pretty attentive. Great big inside space with lots of tables and TVs. I had not tried Burning Bush prior to the stay at home order but heard they were filling growlers to go. Over past two weeks I have placed three orders on-line and walked over to pick-up. While I would not consider myself a huge craft beer guy, I do enjoy locally brewed beers. Burning Bush is walking distance for me and that is about as local as you can get. I have yet to try a beer I would not order again and like that they even have guest brews on tap as well. My two favorite so far are: Manna From Heaven - Bier De Garde and Pulpit Supply - Pale Ale I cannot wait to enjoy Burning Bush with guests and hang out in this very cool space. read more

We went into Burning Bush during Shelter in Place and got two growlers to go. One was the Smooth Serpent IPA which was very good. The other was a peach sour (we can't remember it's name either) but it was really wonderful as well. The space is really open and airy. I can't wait to meet friends there and socialize in the future. Very cool space! I enjoyed the atmosphere and love that they have a number of TVs for sports. High and low tables and some good sized community tables in the center. Overall a great place to hang out with some friends. The beers were all good! I especially loved the St. Basil, and REALLY loved the fact that the owner grew all the basil for it since they needed so much. The stout was SO smoky and good! I will definitely be trying that one again. Not a fan of IPA's in general, but to be honest, this one didn't punch me in the face like so many do. It was pretty tame up front, and then had a hoppy flavor after. Looking forward to them having more of their own brews! read more

We have been awaiting the opening of Burning Bush for awhile and waited a couple weeks to make sure the kinks were all worked out. The space is absolutely beautiful, the beer is good, and everyone who was working was very nice. They only had two of their own beers on tap at the moment, but have several more lined up for releases soon. The St. Basil was excellent and it was nice that you could actually taste the basil flavor in the beer, but it was not overpowering. There were several other beers from local breweries along with wine on tap. Looking forward to making this a regular spot! read more

We were at Burning Bush for a wedding. We arrived a little early and had a beer in the brewery before heading to the event space out back. The atmosphere was upbeat and energetic inside and the event space is very nice - a wall of glass "garage" doors that open to a patio on the river. Inside it's "industrial" and spare in its decor which left lots of room for the couples personality to come out in the flowers and decorations. The service was very good, well-paced for dinner and quick at the bar. It's a very fun venue with a young and fun vibe. The room is very loud once the music is playing because of all the hard surfaces. But they have a plush and comfortable seating area in the opposite corner near the patio that allows you to get a little away from the loudness and have a conversation. Food was good, beer was great, setting beautiful on the river and overall a really well done event. Will be back again for a regular night out read more

Three of their own beers on tap plus numerous guest beers. The Amber basil beer (St. Basil) is tasty! Also lots of seating and a nice looking space. The one down side: I was all set to get a growler for home but they only fill their own growlers which cost $7 empty plus $17 for one of their beers. I don't need anymore growlers. As someone that has been to most of the breweries in the area, this is the only one that I've been to that wouldn't accept a competitors growler. read more
