Came here because my parents wanted to take out of town relatives here to eat. It's only OK in my opinion. Bibimbap is a good dish, but I personally find it to be pretty mediocre. It wouldn't be my choice as a go to restaurant. I can understand why people would like bibimbap. I like it too but I dont think it's really anything to go crazy over. It isnt really anything special to me. The staff is friendly though! I added the gochujang sauce to mine (u can get the sauces at the salad and soup bar) the miso soup was too salty for me. Getting the hot stone bowl may be tricky to eat because the food stays hot which is a good and bad thing at the same time. To wrap it up, the bibimbap is good, but I wouldn't personally come to eat it again not because the food was bad. It is just my personal preference that I would not go out to eat just bibimbap. read more

I ordered the Regular Bulgogi Bowl which was $9.95 and it is actually a good portioned Bowl and when you factor in the complimentary Soup and Salad it makes it a heck of a deal. The staff was friendly and were patient as they explained everything and went over the options. Family and I stopped by this location to the good reviews and proximity to Bonchon, next door, which we wanted to try last night, but found out they were closed on Sundays. It worked out well since we had great food and a good experience here with the kids. Solid 4 stars for me and possible 4.5 stars, if Yelp had half star increments for ratings. We didn't really know what to expect but wete quite impressed. Excellent food, great flavors, good atmosphere and decor. Customer service was great as well. I would best parallel the experience and feel to a Pei Wei as far as setup and ambience. It's a fast casual assorted meats, veggies, and rice place that's done well. The crowd was pretty good for a Sunday evening at 7:30 pm. The woman at the checkout was very customer service oriented and helpful in guiding us om how to order and recommendations. We ordered the pineapple kalbi steak bowl, a spicy bulgogi bowl, and a kids bowl. The portions are good and the bowls are around $10 , which is reasonable. The one kids bowl easily fed our 5 and 2.5 yr old. It could feed 2.5 or 3 kids, honestly. We will definitely be back. There are plenty of bibembop places around the Hmart by our house in Carrollton, but this place does it the best and does it right. It's a great addition for The Colony area. read more

I really like the concept. I wish I had researched it more before I came. I didn't know what I was ordering but the girl at counter was super nice and explained the process. I would have given this place 5 stars if the salad/soup bar had been a little more stocked. We just have came late in the afternoon me it was pretty much bare. I love the concept. You get to pick what goes in your bowl. The spicy bulgogi was awesome. They also have a vegetarian option, tofu. This place works well for the picky eaters. I have a friend who hates mushrooms. And another that hates onions. They have a self serve bar area with salad, soup, and sauces. That works well too. I can't always eat a full bowl of soup. And you get your choice of miso or seaweed soup. Definitely try this place. read more

This place is close to my house and after driving by a few times we decided to give it a try. The guy working the register and taking orders was so friendly and was more than happy to answer our questions. My boyfriend got the regular bowl and I got the hot stone bowl. Needless to say I would pay the extra $1 for the hot stone bowl. I got the spicy garlic pork with everything and it was beyond amazing. We thought it was really nice how the soup and salad station was provided as well. Just a side note: My boyfriend ended up leaving his debit card at the register and the guy working went to each table to ensure no one left without their card. I heard so many good things about Burning Rice but I'm not usually in this area much to have tried it earlier. So when the chance finally came, I was pumped. I liked the Chipotle concept of making your own Korean bowl but I was thoroughly disappointed. I came on a Sunday before noon to beat the rush hour but there wasn't really much of a lunch rush hour. I'm guessing because it was a weekend. Of course, I'm not complaining that there wasn't a line. Once we ordered, we sat down and helped ourselves to the complimentary soup (seaweed or miso) and salad bar. Although the salad bar was kind of weak, it was free so I can't really complain there. There was some confusion with bringing out our food, it was brought to another table (who were our friends we said hi to earlier) then brought back to us. The waiter came back to our table to say these were not ours, only to bring it back to us. It was weird. However, my biggest disappointment was the temperature of the food. I got the kids bowl with kimchi stirred rice and bulgogi with everything in it except for bean sprouts. The rice was cold. There were even cold chunks of rice and it seemed like a rice cake. My boyfriend couldn't take it so he asked if they could heat it up and they said they only way they can heat it up is by putting it in a stone bowl. I think the owner brought out his bowl out a couple minutes later and told him if he wanted a warm meal to order the stone bowl next time. I explained to her that our entree came out cold and she insisted that's how it should be and at room temperature after telling us the regular bowls are in warmers. I was confused. I don't think eating rice cold is normal. I guess it was my understanding that if you wanted your rice crispy it would be in the stone bowl and if you wanted a regular entree (still warm) it would be in the regular bowls. That was the biggest downfall and unfortunately I don't think I will be returning because of this. I don't think that's how bibimbap should be but correct me if I'm wrong. My suggestion is to order it to-go and heat it up yourself in the microwave or the stove. It's just silly because the stone bowl is the same size as a kid's bowl and the biggest difference is if you are okay eating a rice bowl cold or not and the $5 difference. read more

A little surprised by the number of overall stars at this location. No way did I expect over 3 total. Was pretty excited to try some bibimbop here as I've driven by several of these Burning Rice places many times. Coming in, the staff was friendly. The location was fairly empty but was middle of afternoon (around 2pm/3pm) so figure it's just because the lunch crowd has come and gone. As I look around, there are about 4-5 tables and 2 spots around the bar with multiple bowls and trash that the staff hasn't picked up. While the messiness wasn't appreciated, I found it more strange that a staff of 3 in an empty restaurant wouldn't bus the tables. I then went to the restroom and found it was pretty disgusting both in smell and appearance. The food is decent for what seems to be the fast food version of bibimbop. A bit surprised at the price because of this "fast food" execution but mainly because my concern was due to the cleanliness of the restaurant. Hard to not think the kitchen, which is open, isn't a place I should have observed more. Not sure if I will visit again simply based on the lack of cleanliness and have to imagine that affects their handling of the food. read more

This is a place I'd be ok coming to once a week (my boyfriend already does). Seriously the best deal on a meal. Basically a Korean bibimbap that is super filling and unlimited complimentary soup (miso or seaweed with pork) and salad! I always take advantage of the free soup/salad and order a kid size bowl. The kid size is enough to fill me (I even often have leftovers) and only about $7. You have a few different rice and meat choices and toppings include fish cake, a sunny side up egg, spinach, zucchini, japchae, carrots, kimchi, mushrooms, and bean sprouts. I've tried the garlic pork and bulgogi meat options and both are great! I usually go for the kimchi stirred rice or opt for japchae base instead. You can also order it in a hot stone bowl to keep it sizzling hot. One thing to note is that this location tends to provide a slightly smaller amount of food overall to your bowl compared to their other location (off Preston). It's still always enough to fill me up either way, but just a heads up that the other location is a smidge better if you're in between the two. This location is usually less busy though. read more

If you're looking for authentic, this isn't the place for some good bibimbap. If you're okay with settling for the area, it's a fine place to go. You'll sort of get your fix, but if you have the time and energy, just go towards hmart or royal. The ratio of rice to toppings is off. Should include more rice. I've been twice and both times need to go home with leftovers and add another cup or two of rice to make ratios a bit better. The food wasn't hot when I ate here the second time. The meat was room temp/warm, not the ideal for delicious bibimbap. I can't remember what protein I had the first time, either spicy bulgogi or spicy pork I'm sure. Second time is spicy pork. Not super good dweji bulgogi, but again, okay if you're wanting something closer to home and aren't in the mood to cook it yourself. It is nice that they have a salad bar and soup available with meal purchase. Soups include miso and traditional seaweed soup. read more

Second time here and I love it as much as the last time! I love that the sizzling hot stone bowl keeps the bibimbap hot while you're eating it and leaves that crunchy part on the side once you're almost done! The self-serve bar that has miso soup, seaweed soup, salad and additional condiments was really awesome as well. I got the spicy bulgogi bibimbap with kimchi stirred rice and all of the toppings. It had a good amount of meat - love that they didn't go stingy on the meat- and the bibimbap went perfectly with the seaweed soup (the miso was too salty for my taste) It's not the cheapest, so I don't think I will come as frequently as I'd like, but it's definitely worth it. read more

Made a quick stop in at Burning Rice during evening rush hour and picked up order to go. While upon entry it was a bit deserted the place put off a good vibe. Admittedly Korean BBQ is not one of our staples so we dove in with simple expectations as newbies. The staff was very nice and since the place was empty very patient while we stumbled through our choices. I ordered the steak, my wife had the pork and we picked chicken for my daughter. I liked my meal and the kimchi rice bed was delish. Being first try eating my normally intrepid wife had a 'texture' problem but liked the pork. Judging by the quick departure of my daughters chicken (she had forgotten to eat while moving into new house)I give it thumbs up. Restaurant is right off 121 so easy in and out. We were out trying to test drive cars but the dealerships were closed, so we decided to eat somewhere instead. We have been wanting to try Burning Rice for a while and had to stop by since we were close by. At first we didn't think that we'd find anything for our kids, but they were really accommodating. My youngest just had chicken in his bowl, while my oldest had rice with beef. My husband and I had the hot stone bowls. You get a REALLY hot stone bowl with your rice, meat and veggies and toppings. As you eat the rice and food stay really hot and sear on the stone bowl. It's a great idea. My food never got cold! I got brown rice and the spicy chicken with zucchini, carrots and bean sprouts. All yummy and all hot. The chicken is spicy but nothing that you couldn't keep eating. Also, they have a soup and salad area off to the side. I recommend the ginger balsamic, but there is a sesame cream sauce too. I just believe the balsamic is better :O) My husband disagrees, oh well. The soups are miso and seaweed. I don't prefer either but my husband says the miso is good. My kids like it and it was fast, so we'll be making a trip back soon I'm sure.
