Craving the Big K in cuisine - KOREAN. Stumbled across this place midway between the roads that divide me and my good friend (logistical convenience). I ordered the stone bowl, rice wasn't crispy (so no difference between regular and stone except price). The meat and veggies were bland but there are sauces to flavor them at the complimentary side bar. Miso soup was decent, tastes like instant miso paste. Kimchi rice was over cooked, kimchi was a bit more tart than usual for kimchi. Portion is heart, i was so stuffed eating the adult size. So overall alright lacking seasoning on most everything but condiments available to enhance the taste, I just didn't get the ratio right of the sauces I suppose. Ambiance was nice, servers are a little low on energy but it's a hard job so it didn't lose a star for that I assure you. I've tasted better bibimbap that's why my rating isn't a 5. Simple concept with counter order. You choose a bowl (pick the stone bowl, it makes your rice crispy), choose your type of rice, pick your protein and your sides and you're done. The meal comes with a small soup/salad station. All of that for a very reasonable price. I got kimchi rice, bulgogi and some toppings and was very satisfied by the taste. Try their signature sauce and sesame sauce but go easy. Hot stone dine-in is best for food temperature, freshness, and texture. I doubt if take-out is any good. I would give this place 3.5 stars for food, but I'll bump it up to 4 stars for the cool concept. I love Korean food, including bibimbap. Usually, my favorite thing about getting bibimbap in the hot stone bowl is getting to scrape off and eat all the crispy rice from the bottom of the bowl. It's seriously one of my all-time favorite things to eat. When I came here, I was on a mission to get some awesome crispy rice (plus the delicious toppings that usually come with the bowl!). The concept of Burning Rice is really cool--it's like chipotle but with bibimbap instead, so you can customize all the parts of your bowl. I ordered a hot stone bowl with kimchi stirred rice, pineapple galbi, spinach, bean sprouts, kimchi, and a fried egg. The bowl was definitely sizzling when it came out, but I couldn't wait, so I dug right in. The galbi was pretty tasty, though next time I would prefer the LA galbi instead of the pineapple galbi (which is more bland but has the perk of being boneless). Everything in the bowl tasted pretty good, but my rice never really got crispy. I was pretty disappointed. I think their rice was too soggy and mushy so that even the hot stone bowl was not enough to actually crisp up the rice. This is a very cool concept, and I do like getting the giant hot stone bowl so that my rice gets that crunchy edge to it - the only downside is that I end up with a ton of food and the food is boiling hot so it takes a while for it to cool enough to be edible. Still, for about $15 I can have two meals of food, and it's delicious. There's a ton of add-ins you can put in your bowl, and every time my friends and I have come here for lunch, it's been solid food every time. Bonus? They have a self-serve soup and salad bar, so while you're waiting for your bowl to be made, you can enjoy some miso or seaweed soup, or make a quick salad (like you'd get at a sushi place). It's always spectacularly clean, and well located right off 121, so it will be a place I come back to. Love this place so much! Basically Bibim Bob with a twist: it's it a piping hot stone bowl, that causes the sticky rice (they don't sell fried rice) to crisp up and burn . The signature pork has no bone in it, which i prefer. Nice and casual and food comes out VERY quickly read more

Was my favorite place to eat lunch. Changed the menu for the worse and I won't eat there anymore. No more mushrooms! Isn't that kind of a Bibimbap requirement. Broccoli instead of spinach. Terrible change. I'm sure there was a financial consideration for this change, but you're charging customers $10-12 for a bowl which is relatively expensive vs other make your own bowl options out there. This place got bibimbap down right. They have variations of build your own bibimbap in Houston but had mediocre reviews. Burning Rice kept popping up in my suggestions so it was on my radar during my visit in Dallas. I'm very happy to say my experience was just as great as all those other 200+ 5 stars. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a smiling face from the sweetest Korean lady. The menu is right above and very straight forward. My boyfriend and I went straight to ordering. We both got the hot stone bowl with bulgogi and garlic pork. I was super excited to see that they had Korean speciality drinks like shikhye and my fav, Milkis! Now before we even got our food, we had options of a complimentary salad and soup bar. They have seaweed soup and it tasted like the real deal!! Many times Korean fast food establishments miss the authenticity to cater to the "fusion" aspect but nope not here. I salute the chefs for keeping the Korean flavors. Bibimbap was great. Hot, fresh, and flavorful. I took a bite out of the bulgogi itself and I could honestly have ate that alone because it was that good. They don't just throw meat in there - they marinate it the way it should taste. These people know what they're doing! Hot stone bowl rice here is so delicious!! I love how bowls here are customizable, and that there's a complimentary buffet line for you to pick up miso soup or salad to add to your meal. I ordered a hot stone bowl with kimchi rice, beef bulgogi, and all the toppings they had available that didn't cost extra (e.g. japchae, runny egg, veggies, fish cake, and a lot more). It was served sizzling hot and was delicious. I think the choice of kimchi rice made the dish extra flavorful, and I'd highly recommend indulging in that option! The bulgogi was very savory (and definitely not the type of bulgogi that's doused in oils and sauces you might find elsewhere). The service was actually pretty fast (and really kind)! I don't understand what happened. I usually go to the location on Park in Plano, between Ohio and Preston. I went exactly a week ago and food was fantastic as usual. But, I've only been to this (The Colony) location a few times. And wow they have changed. The menu is very minuscule now. Very few options for meats. They also removed all egg options (over easy, over medium, etc.) and only offer scrambled eggs. Anyway, we ordered and sat down. There were no chopsticks or sauces out for customers; but I could see chopsticks behind the glass in the kitchen. When our food arrived, I asked the woman for chopsticks. She said that she was sorry but that they don't offer chopsticks anymore. So I pointed to the clearly visible chopsticks in the kitchen and said, "Aren't those chopsticks?" She reluctantly got us some but explained that they no longer offer these to customers. What?? Anyway, we looked down at our bowls of food and, wow. Underwhelming doesn't begin to describe our emotions. The scrambled eggs thrown on the very top looked pale and somewhat green. The broccoli didn't look fresh at all. The bean sprouts looked very wilted and sad. We hesitated; but, started eating. Oooof. No. This is not the Burning Rice we, or possibly you, are familiar with. The food was extremely bland and not even warm. The chicken was spongy and chewy, with lots of fat. I made it halfway through my bowl and threw in the towel. It was really quite unpleasant. We also got an order of dumplings for the three of us to share. They tasted okay, but were also cold. It just makes no sense; why would they ruin a fantastic place? Are they under new, crappy management? I am scared to go back to my usual Plano location; but, am hoping they have not changed since last week. This was all just extremely disappointing. I should've taken photos for y'all. Save yourself, and don't come here. I agree the quality of food has changed!! This was a go to place for me and my family weekly, but its not the same. Not just the quality, but the quantity as well. We used to order a regular bowl and kids bowl and had plenty of leftovers. But today, not only was there no leftovers to take home, we were still hungry. This place deserves three stars alone for one of the fastest prep times, counter to table. And they don't skimp on flavor either. With this extra added time, give your soup a nice cool off and head to the salad bar section. The college kid in me would urge you to splurge on the bar first, but take your sweet time and pick the best additions to your rice dish as possible. Not feeling great about recent changes here. I love Burning Rice and so does my family. We adjusted to the self ordering although it had a few problems for the first couple months. But now it seems that they're making even more changes but these just don't make sense. No more options for eggs other than scrambled. Then what's the purpose? The sunny side up egg cooking in the hot stone bowl was the whole point of the egg to begin with. Now you can't get one like that. second is that their portion size has been reduced significantly. And finally they've done away with Gojo Jaing and replaced it with their own signature sauce. Sauce is tasty and overall the meal was delicious but I guess I just can't get my head around why they would change standard bimbimbop staples at a Bimbimbop restaurant. Luckily, their Bulgogi is absolutely delicious and tender and I gobbled it down anyway. I'm just concerned that management is making decisions that don't seem to line up with best practices for the type of restaurant it is. Guess we'll wait and see. read more

Such a great concept, I love that you can have a delicious bowl of bi bim bop fairly quick. I had the stone pot spicy beef with everything in it. I also added some spicy shrimp. First of all that stone pot is hottttt, literally the dish stayed hot for the whole meal, even burnt my tongue once or twice, hence the name burning rice.. but man is it good. They also have an unlimited soup and salad bar, which was seriously a great start to our meal. Spicy beef was seasoned nicely, it wasn't too spicy, but they have some spicy sauce on the side that you can add if you wanna kick up the spice. Service was fast and friendly. They kept every other table closed to follow COVID-19 precautions and the staff members were all wearing masks. The place itself was very well kept and inviting. I've never been a huge fan of bibimbop. I know now it's because of the places that I had them at. We were looking around for a new place to eat in the colony area and settled on Burning Rice. The restaurant is only a couple months old and the decor is pretty nice. They only serve bibimbop with unlimited soup and salad. If you're looking for other dishes you are outta luck. They fit the fast casual chipotle model so you order your bowl and pick the toppings and they bring it out for you. I ordered the hot stone bowl with Kimchi stirred rice, LA pineapple galbi, and all of the toppings. It's extra for the hot stone bowl as well as the galbi. I liked that you could get all toppings at no extra cost. They offer a wide variety of meats such as chicken, pork, beef, and tofu. The food took about 10 minutes to come out so it gives you ample time to get your soups, salad, sauces, etc. when it came out it was piping hot and sizzling. I left it for a couple minutes before mixing it up which gave some of the rice a nice crispy texture. To me, this is almost like having fried rice right as it's coming off the pan. When you mix everything together well, you get that perfect balance in each bite. I hope down the road they decide to add more stuff to the menu but for what they do offer, is pretty delicious. read more

Basically it's a fast-casual, Chipotle-style eatery, but for Korean Bibimbap (if you're not familiar with bibimbap, it's a popular Korean dish that literally means "mixed rice." It's basically a bowl of rice usually topped with various things such as sautéed vegetables, sliced meat, and an egg). At Burning Rice, to build your bowl, you follow the steps below: - Step 1: choose your bowl (regular, hot stone, or kids bowl) - Step 2: choose your rice (white rice, brown rice, vegetable stirred rice, or kimchi stirred rice) - Step 3: choose your protein (bulgogi, spicy bulgogi, spicy pork, garlic pork tender, spicy chicken, tofu, LA galbi, pineapple galbi steak; last two are +$1.50) - Step 4: choose your toppings (spinach, zucchini, bean sprouts, mushrooms, carrots, fish cake, kimchi, japchae, egg, or everything) My advice is to get the hot stone bowl, which is only $1 more than the regular bowl. How does that work? A large stone bowl is baked in the oven until it's scorching hot. Then they put all of your food choices into that bowl so when it's brought out to your table, it's sizzling hot. I like getting a sunny side-up egg with this because then you can break the yolk yourself and kind of cook it to your liking by mixing it against the hot stone. When we went, I had a hot stone bowl with kimchi stirred riced, spicy bulgogi, spinach, mushroom, japchae, and egg. It was delicious! The beef was really flavorful, though not spicy, and the vegetables were all cooked well. Bowls also come with a complementary salad bar (not anything spectacular) and choice of soup (miso or seaweed). There also have a few sauces (like gochujang) at the salad bar to add to your bowl if desired. We stopped by at an off time on a Sunday and I was happy to see that more than half of the tables were filled! This place was very yummy! I am giving it 5 stars because I have started the keto diet and I was afraid this place would not have options for me but they did. I got the spicy bulgogi with spinach instead of rice. Omgsh it was so good. The marinated beef was delicious, not spicy at all to me but had great flavor. The place was clean and neat, they even had a miso soup that was so tasty that comes with your meal, they have seaweed soup too but I did not care for it. Staff was nice.
