He hopped in the car and drove 1 yard, immediately told me what he thought it was, and warned me to avoid driving the rest of the weekend as grinding the wheel in extreme heat was risky. He said to come back first thing Monday morning to get it lifted up and properly examined. Came back Monday and the team figured out I needed to replace the caliper and brakes. Price was fair and they said they could do it same day within 3 hours, so I let them work on it and had them do an oil change as well. I'm very grateful for Brian and his team, taking the time to explain what was actually needed and why, and not overselling me on additional services. Overall he communicated well, asked if I wanted to fix everything and had such a positive attitude. Also they do excellent work for a reasonable price. I almost wanted to keep this gem to myself but the world (or Silver Spring) needs to know where to go for superior auto care whether mechanical or auto body. They also cleaned the interior of my car. The dealership took 3 WEEKS to even get us AN ESTIMATE, and they wanted to replace the ENTIRE electrical system for NEARLY $6,000. We wanted a second opinion. They found that the coolant level was low and traced the issue to a leak that needed attention. They also checked the hoses and other components of the cooling system and explained what they found before doing the repair. I appreciated that because I wanted to understand why the temperature had been fluctuating instead of just being handed a repair bill. While they had the vehicle, they also checked the heater operation because I'd noticed that the cabin heat wasn't getting as warm as it normally did. The technician explained how the coolant system affects both engine temperature and the vehicle's heating system, which helped everything make much more sense. After the repair and coolant service, the temperature gauge stayed exactly where it should during both stop-and-go D.C. traffic and longer drives. The heater also returned to normal operation. I love that they didn't immediately recommend replacing expensive parts. They inspected the system, identified the actual problem, explained the repair, and then verified that everything was operating properly afterward. We needed all four brakes (pads + rotors) replaced and some Check Engine light codes deciphered and…read moreremedied (aka, please fix the things that are wrong with my car) on our 2012 American-make vehicle. $1450 later, they replaced three brakes, one of which apparently had the caliper improperly reattached, which started shredding the new brake pads just 500 highway miles into a roadtrip the day after the work was done -- the wheel was smoking and thumping against the rotors so we could not drive over 25mph. This resulted in a partially destroyed caliper = another costly repair once labor was included, not to mention being broken down on the side of an Alabama byway. The Check Engine light remedy? "There are a lot of codes - we can't fix it all, but it is just small things... you should be fine" is the response they gave us, and they sent us away with the Check Engine light on. We really needed work done on this car before a trip. We used them because of their good reviews, and on top of the shoddy work, it was as if they did not want our business in the first place when they did not want to help with the Check Engine light issues. Will not go back here again, ever. Do NOT recommend.
