The quality and quantity of the burritos has gone down hill over the years. We love burrito express and have been eating here for over 15 years and it's disappointing now 10 dollars a burrito and you're basically paying for nothing but tortilla. Come on burrito express what is going on? This isn't up to standard and it's disgusting that you're okay taking peoples money for something that doesn't hold up. Avoid this location at all costs. You can't even contact the on the phone to complain or report errors and nobody responds when to submit for contact online. Scam! The owner responded and basically called me a liar and offered no support but to criticize what my daughter ordered and mind you we also paid for extra chorizo and if the owner had read my original complaint it was over the STPs having hardly any steak in them they didn't even roll the burritos correctly. These burritos were definitely tasty, but I do think they are on the smaller side for how much they charge. My daughter got a chorizo, and egg, and added potato because breakfast burritos need potatoes. I got the steak and egg and it was great. Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time for our order because the young lady taking orders and handing out orders gave our order out by accident to another person picking up. This place was super busy with Uber eats and DoorDash orders. They remedy the situation by giving us a free drink and chips and salsa, which I absolutely loved. this used to be my favorite location and now it's incredibly mid. I ordered a Machaca breakfast burritos for my boyfriend and I one hot and mild and neither of them were even remotely spicy. and to top it off there was barely any machaca. it was mostly egg. If you are looking for that homestyle taste, this is a good place to swing by! GREEN CHILI BURRITO- who doesn't like slow cooked tender meat braised in a hearty sauce? The green chili is delicious and balanced and not too beefy flavored. I think it's comprable to the green chili at Carolina's (which most locals know of) Calm down Carloina-lovers! The tortillas at Burrito Express are good quality but not quite that of the homemade counterparts at Carolinas. RED CHILI BREAKFAST BURRITO- The red chili was bright red which made me think the red chili had premade sauce used to make it. The breakfast version of the burrito includes eggs and potatoes mixed in. This one was alright, as the pieces of beef are sparse and all you taste is the egg and red chili sauce. I think the green chili was overall more flavorful. RED and GREEN SALSA- the condiment that really caps the flavor of the burrito. Most places have the common red and green sauce as if it was a standardized recipe. Sauce is ususally under-valued and over-looked. Here, the sauce was noticaby good and had a depth that stood out. I want to venture to say that they roast the ingredients to enhance the flavor before they get blended for the sauce. I feel like I should be getting charged for this sauce but luckily it comes complimentary with your food. SIZE MATTERS- I did the burrito-meter test and compared to the size of a water bottle and it was a little smaller, so I didn't feel like I was ripped off, but didn't feel like it was super value either. COVID RATING: below average Cooks wearing face coverings and gloves. Provide Sanitizer for guests and have spaced outside tables for dining. No barrier at point of sale between guest and staff. Was not able to tell if they enforced distancing for their lines. But the eating utensils were all grouped together for self-serve which was also in the same console as the trash recepticle. read more

Nearly every week when I'm working from home I make sure to pick up a burrito from Burrito Express for lunch. I can't claim that it will be the best burrito you will ever have, but dollar for dollar it may be. It's consistent, tastes great, very cheap for the quality you get, and you feel perfectly fine after eating as I'd consider it the perfect size for lunch. Personally, I find the best way to eat it is alternating pouring the salsa verde and roja for each bite, as the verde has no business being as good as it is and the roja adds a reasonable heat to mix in. After dropping of the kid at his learnin institution, I had a hungerin for a burrito (always time fir burritos or tacos - same goes for sushi and pho) Anyways, so I passed Burrito Express which I frequent in Mesa. It's a newer location in chandler and its top notch!!!! It's super fast. The folks in the kitchen and at the register are friendly, jokey and helpful. You know how you can't tell if some places uses the pre-mixed egg blend? Not this place. Cut your burrito in half and you can see the egg looking like it just fell out of the hen! The burritos here are never greasy which is always a bonus. I gotta be honest and admit that you can definitely get more burrito for the same price at other places but you won't be getting ripped off here. It's a solid burrito with quality ingredients. A must go to! Ooh la la oh my gosh so yummy... The choices are endless but not overwhelming (not a hundred items on the menu... just many different ways you can make the nice clean easy on the eyes items on the menu making them endless choices). Don't mistake that as having to wait a long period of time to get your order. At BURRITO EXPRESS.....Pricing is very low. You pay very little for high quality meat, very fresh veggies, fresh herbs, etc. and get large portions. They don't use a bunch of beans and/or rice as a filler giving you very little meat and veggies. Just the opposite. If you want a bean burrito than sure you'll get a bean burrito but if you order steak you're actually going to get steak!
