THE WORST FLAUTAS I HAVE EVER HAD! My husband and I just had lunch there and the only good things was the rice and horchata. I got the flauta plate; the flautas were extremely hard and dry all the way though, the "guacamole" was really just mashed avocado that tasted like it had been watered down, I was brought refried beans (even though I requested double rice instead). My husband got the chicken enchilada plate with red sauce; his enchiladas were all spice and no flavor, and he said the beans were just as bland as my flautas. He tried a bite as well and admitted he had never had flautas so bad... Our server was inattentive but fine. The food here is great and we have been buying from here for many years. However the last time we ordered we noticed signs all over saying that this is not a fast food restaurant, except it really is. Now we know why they had those signs. We bought 3 burritos to go and they charged us a $2 tip when the credit card charge came through. This is deceptive and wrong. We do not tip at restaurants where you order at a counter and the person behind the counter hands you your order. That is fast food, and no one should have to tip for that. We are really upset about this practice and we will not be going back. There are other Mexican food restaurants in northeast El Paso. They got a $2 tip, but lost our business for good. There is some really good food here. The Mexican rice was point. The salsa has a nice little kick and mix it with the refried beans. The tacos seemed to be hand made with a great combo of beef, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. I also tried a plain tortilla which was heaven...I want some more of them! Not just burritos as the name implies, The Burrito House is a great place for breakfast or lunch. Very good food, very friendly service. I have never had anything I didn't like here. They have great gorditas, enchiladas, tacos and apparently the menudo is great! Only negatives are (1) you have to pay up front and they have a lot of to-go orders and you are waiting in line with all of them! Sometimes they have a second cashier, sometimes not and (2) the parking. There are places out front and all along the building, but when it's busy you have to park in the back and it is a large building and not paved. I love this little spot in the northeast. I was in the area and decided to stop for a burrito because I had been craving one. I went to the right spot!!!! I ordered a steak and cheese burrito with beans and a burrito de chicharrón which also came with beans. The steak one had so much flavor and they gave a side of salsa verde that is soooo good! (I actually saved it to add to my enchilada sauce I made) the chicharrón was spicy and very juicy. Both burritos were so good and very filling. I had to stop after the first burrito and save part of the other one for a little bit later. Overall I will definitely be going again when I'm in the area. The price was good I believe I paid $6 for both burritos which isn't bad considering it was a steak burrito. My family and I have eaten or ordered from Burrito House for the past 10 years. Always consistent and delicious. My favorite is the barbacoa burrito with onions, cilantro, and beans. I love this place. Most of the time when I come back to El Paso I have to go to the Burrito House. One of the best Mexican spots in the Northeast. The service was great. They are all so sweet in there! The Caldo was perfect. Packed with flavor and the vegetables were tender. The meat was flavorful as well and mostly tender, a tad too fatty but then again that's what gives it flavor. The Caldo reminds me of the soup my great grandma made growing up. The Chile relleno burrito was good too. I got it with the beans which was a great idea. It was cheesy, had a little bit of beans and the jalapeño wasn't too spicy. We used to go here all the time, great customer service, waitresses knew us by name. Finally they opened the dining area after covid, and they changed things, they had people lining up now and waiting to be seated. They had mostly new employees. We just stood there, first in line, waiting and waiting as the waitresses and any other employee just walked passed us, not even a glance or an acknowledgement. This restaurant used to be so delicious back in the day. I mean I remember my Mom coming home with the Chili Colorado burritos and they were the best. That was then this is now. I ordered a Picadillo burrito with cheese and sour cream. First of all the crema was not on the burrito but on the side. (What happened it used to come on the burrito) Second the cheese was scarce after a couple of bites I was done and very upset that I had wasted my lunch going to get this food. Old school Mexican restaurant that's about as good as it gets in EP. It's a divey and very clean place with nothing fancy. I've been coming here for more than a decade and the food is always consistent. It's homemade Mexican style café fare. You can't really go wrong with what you order. On this day, I had red enchiladas montadas which is red cheese enchiladas with 2 eggs. I had mine over easy and they came out perfect. Prices are fair too. A plate will go from $8 - $10 on average. Burritos are cheaper, price will vary on what kind you'd like. The only con is that the food is so good that it will tend to get crowded, but they have their "to-go" game down if you'd like to have take out. read more

What happened here? They used to be the best, and the last 2 times we had Burrito House it was gross. The potatoes were raw in my burrito, and my mother's burrito the beans were bad. We bought 2 dozen burritos another time and had to throw them all away. Disgusting. If they get back to their old goodness I'd go back, but until then I'm not wasting money anymore. Two things I notice when I walk into a Mexican restaurant is who is doing the cooking and who is eating. If the answer to both of these questions is Mexicans, well by golly, the restaurant probably has good Mexican food. This was the case at The Burrito House! On the menu were menudo, pozole and mole. All favorites of our family. The tortillas are fresh and made on-site. Today I had the mole with a tortilla, refried beans and fried rice. All were exceptional. My taste buds were in heaven.
