NO RESERVATIONS (I don't know if they take reservations for larger parties but for normal they said no) so go before 6. We walked in at 5:30ish and it seemed pretty empty. So I was a little worried if the restaurant wasn't any good but by 6 every table was taken!!!! The eggplant and chicken dish was really good (I got it without green peppers) and the rice is super flavorful. Stroganoff is really good (comes with rice, which I'm fine but if you expected buttered egg noodles, sorry). BUT they normally put green PICKLES on it. Asked for it on the side since pickles on stroganoff seemed odd. And it was perfect. So glad I saw a photo of it on yelp so we could order it that way otherwise we'd have been super shocked why there was a pile of green pickles on our stroganoff. I think the lentil soup was over hyped. It was good and tasty and thick. Great to dip pita in, but it was sort of just a spicy lentil soup. One of their high chairs didn't have the strap that goes between baby's leg so baby almost slid out - be careful. Service got a little slow as the restaurant got busy so it was hard to get takeout boxes and our check. But super friendly service the whole time. read more

Excellent food! I loved the location, the service, the ambiance, and most importantly the food. My fiancé and I were able to be seated in a single 2 person table but asked if we can be seated by the big booth and the waiter was nice enough to seat us there despite how busy this restaurant can get. We got a complimentary side of bread which was delicious! For appetizer we decided to order the falafel which comes with tahini sauce and that was really good. The tahini sauce I really liked and asked for extra for when my entree arrives. For our entree, my fiancé ordered the combination kebabs which comes with rice and salad, and I ordered the kofte kebab which also comes with rice and salad. I loved my kofte kebab it was well seasoned and it tasted really good! My fiancé loved his food but his favorite was the kofte kebab. They are so generous with their portion sizes be side it's filled with lots of rice and meat. One of my favorite Turkish restaurants thus by far! Highly recommend this place! read more

I've been coming here for a while and they're always super accommodating and the food is delicious. I mostly get take out orders but have also dined in, and would highly recommend either. Victor always greets me by name when I walk in or call in orders over the phone. He's even memorized my order and always makes me and my mom feel extremely welcome every time we come in! read more

We love Bursa! Whether it's for lunch or dinner, all their kebabs are amazing and their rice is so delicious. The accompanied salad is always a winner where I find myself eating the salad off of everyone's plate. I've gone in just for their kunefe (dessert) as well, just because! We rectify discovered a new favorite, their deep fried cigar pastries which is feta stuffed deep fried rolls and to dip it in the Haydari (OMG!). Their Beef Stroganoff is nice and delectable and the wine comes through nicely. The Son made sure he saved some for his meal for the next day. I came here on a Saturday night without a reservation at around 7:30pm and the restaurant was full. My boyfriend and I only had to wait for 30 minutes so that was okay. I love that the restaurant is small and cozy though! We went for the hummus appetizer because I love hummus and this hummus was amazing! It came with this amazing flatbread that was thin but grilled to perfection and was so surprisingly light. Perfect for dipping hummus. The portion of the appetizer was perfect as well. I got the Chicken Kebab plate and it was so good! There were two large kebabs with 4-5 pieces of chicken, onions, and green peppers. The chicken pieces were pretty big but they weren't dry at all. They were moist and had a really nice char on them. The rice on the plate was so flavorful. It had this brown sauce on it and I wish I could have rice like that all the time. My boyfriend got the spicy lamb and beef plate and it was really spicy but super tasty. Just know you're actually getting SPICY lamb and beef. This was my first indoor dining experience in a year and a half and I was thoroughly impressed. The food was so flavorful with a lot of vegan options. I couldn't get enough of the falafel and the tahini. The waitress was so kind and walked me through every vegan option on the menu and switched out some of the sauce on the vegetable kebab for me. It's one of those places that doesn't draw you in because the windows are dark and the signage humble. Now that they have outdoor seating (with umbrellas and heaters), I was prompted to try it out. What's worse than a bad crab cake? How about a cold crab cake that's full of bread crumbs and an even crabbier waitress? Came here for dinner with a friend of mine and wound up regretting it. Flavorless hummus. Give me Trader Joes or Whole Foods packaged hummus any day over this place. Dry Kofte Kebab, and did I mention the horrible rude and slow service. When we told our waitress about the cold crab cakes she said that's the way they are. And when I mentioned my fish being rather dry she said don't come back. That's great advice! Bursa is a great choice for a cheap but super filling lunch in the West Portal area! I came with a friend after working out and we were both stuffed by the end of our meal... And we each paid a little over $10! We ordered the falafel wrap ($8) and the kofte kebab plate ($10) to share. When the food came out, we noticed the portions were huge!! The falafel wrap was neatly cut in half and we picked fries over the salad. I would say the wrap is a foot long but maybe half the diameter of a burrito... if that makes sense haha. So it's pretty large and definitely shareable. This was my first time having falafel and I was impressed! I didn't expect too much because I normally love my meat, but I liked the crunch from the outside breading and there was a lot of flavor from the hummus and avocado tahini sauce. I also really loved the flatbread that it was wrapped in... It wasn't your typical super-thick flatbread, it was a little thinner! It was grilled a little so it had a nice char too. :) The kofte kebab was also delicious! The ground beef and lamb was very tender and not dry at all. It came with a white sauce (tahini maybe?) on the side, orzo jasmine rice, and a side salad. The meat was pretty good on its own, sometimes I didn't even need the sauce! I really loved the rice and orzo combo. It was slightly buttery and addicting to eat! One small downside is that they give a large amount of rice and salad, but only one kebab. I wish there was 2 kebabs!! The meat:side ratio is a little off, but the total amount of food was worth it for $10. Service was okay. When we first came in we were barely greeted and basically led towards a table with no talking... Haha. But later on we encountered a nice/funny waiter! The ambiance is also very nice, with high ceilings and decorations on the walls. I would definitely come back here! The food was tasty and for the price, it can't be beat. I'm not a fan of Mediterranean food but this place is SO GOOD. 1. Combo Appetizer -- I'm not sure which one it was, but there was one hummus-like thing that tasted garlicy and was definitely my favorite. Another also tasted like mashed potatoes..which I loved! Overall, a great starter dish! We shared this dish between 4 people and it was a portion, especially with the endless supply of bread (pita??). 2. Lamb Kebab -- When they say kebab, they really mean kebab! The lamb was literally on a shank-like stick with a super sharp end. You could slay a vampire with that! But the lamb was sooo good, a little over-done but the flavor was really good. Plus, the orzo jasmine rice that it came with was THE BEST RICE i've ever had! IT was so good! First and last time here. The restaurant is beautiful and has a nice menu. We ordered many different food items including shrimp, lamb and beef kabobs, fish, and salads. Pita is not automatically provided, you have to order it, and if you want hummus, thats a separate order too. The entrees were all too salty, including the salad, and none of us could finish them. I'm not often in the West Portal area, but a good friend recommended that we try Bursa for lunch. As we walked in, I could tell this was a popular destination, but fortunately our wait for a table was short. We started with the combo plate to share, which cake with a delectable mix of hummus, baba ghanouj, dolmas, haydari (a mixture of Greek yogurt, kefir cheese, dill, and mint), ezme (eggplant with roasted red pepper, tomato, and onion), mercimek (red lentil balls), and falafel. This plate was a great way to sample various appetizers, and overall, I thought it was tasty and well prepared. My entree was the Adana kebab, which had a spicy mixture of ground lamb and beef. I thought the meat was flavorful and juicy, and it was one of the better kebabs I've had in recent memory. Despite feeling stuffed, I couldn't pass up on the baklava or Turkish coffee. Their $8 lunch specials are portioned fairly for the price paid, and they're probably the best lunch deals at West Portal. The $8 lunch options include entree-sized salads, wraps, and kebabs. I recommend the kebabs, although I have yet to try their wraps. The chicken kebab consists of one skewer of white meat chicken with onion and green bell pepper. Although the meat was a little dry, it still had a nice, smokey crust. The Andana kebab, which is mixed ground beef and lamb, was flavorful, but not spicy (hot) as I anticipated. Unfortunately, the meat was also a bit dry. But despite the meat being dry, the side of yogurt sauce definitely help add a refreshing flavor to the dish overall. The kebabs are served with a bed of orzo jasmine rice and a salad, which make this lunch special a perfect balance among carbs, proteins, and vegetables. The restaurant isn't too small, and they accommodate large groups well. They take reservations too. My family and I have been dinning here for years at Bursa as my parents live right around West Portal. The grilled rack of lamb is my favorite at Bursa, I have tried the beef stroganoff and the chicken, beef and lamb kebabs, and adana. The grilled salmon and shrimps are also excellent. Both lunch and dinner entrees come with the delicious jasmine rice and salads ( argurula for lunch and romaine for dinner). Every food plate is served with lots of food and tastes so flavorful. Definitely, the value is great. My parents usually share the rack of lamb for dinner, which comes with 4 ribs, and the portion size is plenty for them. The ambience is warm and cozy even know the space is pretty tightly packed in the neighboring tables are not far away. The service is very attentive and professional. Clearly, the people working here care about their customers and many of us do return back to support this restaurant. I have never felt disappointed every time I have dined here. I feel lucky living in the Bay Area where I can enjoy all kinds of ethnic food, without flying across the world and being long hours on the plane. I had to knock off one star as the restaurant ran out of both halibut and salmon at 6pm tonight. Lots of people have stopped eating meat now, so If fish is out, there is not many options for eating here. This family-owned and operated restaurant is the sweetest place on West Portal. They took us through the last 3 years by feeding us outside (heat lamps!). Their food is uniformly consistent, super delicious and the service is impeccable. We eat there at least 2-3 times a month. Also takeout. Try their lentil soup - super yum! Also the halibut for dinner and the combo appetizer. Lunch we have the kabobs or a salad (add protein) and dolmas. Truly, once you eat there you will be back again and again. Guaranteed you and you party will stay hydrated because the waitress is on top of it! I don't remember seeing any of our glass of water even half empty. The waiter has a great sense of humor and likes to make jokes here and there. Hostess, checks up on you to make sure everything is okay and tastes good. They also give out complimentary bread and sauce with refills before your meal! FOOD: Chicken strogonoff was delicious and creamy - came with salad and jasmine rice. Beyti was a few of only dishes that did not come with rice because it is ground meat wrapped in lavash (see pictures below). The greek yogurt in that dish gave it a tangy taste which I thought was a great pairing with the meat and tomato sauce. The stuffed eggplant and kebab was cooked like your typical Mediterranean/middle eastern style dish. The food is a little on the pricey side, so this won't be a often go-to dinner place.
