Used to be my favorite restaurant in West Portal.... I even asked the girl when I was in there if ownership had changed - that's how dramatically different it is than it was in past years... First I've got to say that I gave it three tries before leaving any kind of negative review. The service is absolutely horrific. They ignore you and act like you're not even there, never check on you and even when you flag them down it's difficult to get good service and they act like they're doing you a huge favor. All three visits. There is a little selection, it's extremely overpriced, the portions are meager... and the food was just OK. It absolutely was not worth the value for what we were charged and the service was more like a takeout place than a sit down restaurant. This visit took forever to get service, they were so rude to us, and even after we ordered it took 45 minutes to get our food and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The last time I was in I asked a gentleman for help and he acknowledged me went behind the counter disappeared and people behind the counter we're looking at me and not helping me... No one told me they were in the middle of a shift change and no when I attempted to see me or take my order. They were just standing behind the counter chatting and it is definitely apparent that it's a social event for the people that work there more than being of service to customers. Extremely disappointing... What's more disappointing is that I have been going there for years and Bursa does not care about locals and loyalty... I can walk there and unfortunately will not be visiting anymore. read more

We live in Pacifica and spend a lot time of time in the city. When we're not sure where to go for dinner West Portal is a good compromise near home. Not a compromise, but a treat is Bursa. We've never had a bad meal or a bad experience. Kebabs are great, combo appetizer hits the spot, and the cigar pastries -- look like egg rolls, taste like feta and other goodness--are great. Tonight, the owner hanging out with friends leaned over to say he'd pay for dessert. Would've been a great meal already, but that put the night over the top. read more

Found this hidden gem after visiting Golden Gate Park. We were seated immediately. Our server brought us water and bread immediately. The bread was soo soft and good. I loved how there was oil and seasoning to dip our bread in. We got the Adana kebab and the chicken kebab. The Adana is toooooo good! If you have difficulty choosing get the Adana! The chicken was good too, but the flavoring and juicy ness of the Adana blew it out of the park. Service was excellent and I will be returning! read more

Come here often in our West Portal neighborhood. In the past, I've tried many entrees on the menu--KABOBS, MUSAKKA, BEEF STROGANOFF, HALIBUT. All were pretty good, but none can top the dish I order now, every time. GRILLED LEMON SALMON. I know it doesn't sound exciting, but my tastebuds cheer for it! Perfectly grilled salmon, never over cooked, served a top jasmine rice with orzo, asparagus, avocado sauce garnished with crispy fried onion strings! Once you try it, you'll know what I mean. Delicious! If I'm more hungry, I'll add hummus with pita or red lentil soup. Service is attentive and friendly. There is an outdoor parklet patio with heating lamps. During lunch, I prefer sitting outside. For dinner, prefer inside. Either way, it's a pleasant dining experience. read more

Don't go for dinner-just order on Uber Eats!!! My husband and I went there for our third time last night and brought our daughter along with great expectations for another stellar dinner. While the food was delicious, the wait time was absolutely atrocious!!! We followed another threesome into the restaurant and were seated just after they were. We promptly ordered our food at 6:45. We saw the table that had entered just before we did get their food less than ten minutes after we were all seated. We waited, and waited, and waited, and watched Uber order after Uber order picked up at the counter (there were probably about 20 orders that were picked up as we sat there, getting hungrier and more upset by the minute). Finally, 30 minutes after we placed our order, the food was brought to our table. Obviously the owners care more about maintaining their relationship with Uber Eats and take-out orders than they do about the customers who have taken the time to come into their restaurant. Although the food is good, the wait time we had last night cannot make up for our bad experience. Sadly, we will not be returning to this restaurant in the future. It seems they should become a "take-out only" spot for dinner. read more

What a gem in West Portal! Luckily, my sister knew about this place and suggested it. Cute place! Crazy good food! We were a party of 5, so we ordered several things. The hummus, falafel, kabobs (chicken, beef, and beef/lamb), and the Greek salad. All so so good! My favorite was the Greek salad! Who knew dried cranberries and feta went together? Well, I guess they did! The staff was amazing! Friendly and kind. Our drinks were never empty, and they all worked together amazingly. I honestly felt like I was at their home. This is not Michelin-quality food anymore :( Bursa's still not a bad place for lunch, but I can see why it's not as crazy as it used to be to get a reservation. The food just doesn't taste as good but is still pretty expensive. Great Greek, Turkish, and Lebanese food. The appetizers are the best and most flavorful dishes; I'd recommend just ordering them. We had shrimp with the most flavorful sauce I could've drunk, and several dipping sauces, like a yoghurt one, and those were SO GOOD. the flavors were addictive. The bread they also supply is so well baked. Dense bread yum, as good as candy. For the main course, I got musakka and the eggplant dish and they disappointed. The eggplants are too mushy. Calling all hummus fanatics! The hummus at Bursa is remarkable! I went to Bursa to celebrate my birthday and I left a happy camper. We ordered hummus to start and my mother could not get enough hummus. I asked her if she wanted to order an order of hummus to go. She was obsessed! I then ordered the Greek salad which was huge as well as the combo appetizer plate. I'm not a huge fan of eggplant and the combo had lots of different versions of Baba Ganoush so I wasn't in love. My mother and husband ordered the shrimp and chicken kabobs and they both enjoyed them. The kabobs are huge so they both ended up taking the majority of their dinner home. Hmmm... Bursa was a bit underwhelming. I loved that their lunch menu is so reasonably priced (around $12 a plate if you order a meat with sides of rice and salad). The presentation of the food was beautiful, but I was upset to find that my beef kebab was cooked well-done when I cut through it. I like my steak on the medium-rare side, so I was frustrated that my kebab turned out really tough and dry. On the bright side, I loved the jasmine orzo rice that accompanied my order. It was well-seasoned and really compensated for the beef. Wouldn't really want to come back here again. I'd much rather drive the other way to Mediterranean Kebab in Burlingame for Mediterranean food. read more

Man, was that Good! We had a wonderful lunch! Friends wanted to gather for a weekend meal together and I remembered that I had seen Bursa featured on Check Please, Bay Area. When I suggested that I wanted to try it, our friends said, "Yes, we love Bursa!" We soon found out why that is. We treated ourselves to a meal of Mediterranean tapas, if you will. We each picked a couple of items that sounded good and concocted our own little buffet mid-table. Small plates and a generous glass of wine for each of us got the conversation well under way. The table wafted with the rich aromas of Turkish fare, and a palette of colors that would make for a beautiful travel magazine cover. The rich sunset color of the Lentil Soup was so inviting and true to the delicious flavors, kissed with sumac and drizzled with a savory olive oil topper. The Chicken Wrap was a satisfying melange of greens and moist chicken in a grilled flatbread roll easy cut into four pieces, on our request, to share among us. The Baba Ghanouj was heavenly! Smooth and savory, with their homemade flatbread, fresh from the oven. The Kebab plate came with fluffy rice, and a fresh salad on the side. We also enjoyed the Fried "Cigars" stuffed with aged feta cheese, and a plate of felafel. Every one a gem. We were the second table seated for lunch since we got there early. By the time we caught up with our compatriots we turned and realized that Bursa had become a bustling lunch stop for a large set of the neighborhood. Nonetheless, we never felt rushed; to the contrary, the service was always warm and unhurried. What a wonderful lunch. We couldn't resist a relaxing course of Turkish Coffee and Baklavah. A fine way to wind down a fine meal. We spent, with a glass of wine each, about $50 per person, and we all left with quite satiated! We look forward to a repeat performance soon. read more

After a rough start at another restaurant down the next block today, we went in search for another place to eat and visit after a too long absence with each other. I was a bit nervous about trying Bursa when we walked by because it was closed to noon on a Saturday and the place was empty inside and out. We were pleasantly surprised by the patient and welcoming greeting and service. When the food came, it was so beautiful on the plates that I took photos. Glasses were filled without asking. They checked in on us. They did not rush us but by the time we left, the entire restaurant was full. Good for them. Thank you for saving our day . Will definitely return. read more

We have been coming here for years. The food is absolutely fabulous and the staff is just awesome. Really great little neighborhood gem. Jihad the owner is just the nicest guy in the world. The entire team there is just wonderful. I do really miss The dancing and music they used to have but overall it's absolutely delicious you won't be disappointed. The feta prongs are one of my favorite appetizers, the Heydari is awesome, the kebabs are incredible, the rice is to die for and honestly, the kefta and the spicy lamb is incredible. Love it. Jamie W. and I were latecomers in trying this popular Turkish spot in West Portal, but we're glad we finally made our tardy discovery while it was still thriving and serving familiar yet flavorful Eastern Mediterranean dishes. We didn't make a reservation, but we got lucky and got the little side table nearest the front door which meant we were always in view of the busy staff. It was bustling that evening, but the polite and efficient staff had it well under control from what we witnessed. NO RESERVATIONS (I don't know if they take reservations for larger parties but for normal they said no) so go before 6. We walked in at 5:30ish and it seemed pretty empty. So I was a little worried if the restaurant wasn't any good but by 6 every table was taken!!!! The eggplant and chicken dish was really good (I got it without green peppers) and the rice is super flavorful. Stroganoff is really good (comes with rice, which I'm fine but if you expected buttered egg noodles, sorry). BUT they normally put green PICKLES on it. Asked for it on the side since pickles on stroganoff seemed odd. And it was perfect. So glad I saw a photo of it on yelp so we could order it that way otherwise we'd have been super shocked why there was a pile of green pickles on our stroganoff. I think the lentil soup was over hyped. It was good and tasty and thick. Great to dip pita in, but it was sort of just a spicy lentil soup. One of their high chairs didn't have the strap that goes between baby's leg so baby almost slid out - be careful. Service got a little slow as the restaurant got busy so it was hard to get takeout boxes and our check. But super friendly service the whole time. read more

Excellent food! I loved the location, the service, the ambiance, and most importantly the food. My fiancé and I were able to be seated in a single 2 person table but asked if we can be seated by the big booth and the waiter was nice enough to seat us there despite how busy this restaurant can get. We got a complimentary side of bread which was delicious! For appetizer we decided to order the falafel which comes with tahini sauce and that was really good. The tahini sauce I really liked and asked for extra for when my entree arrives. For our entree, my fiancé ordered the combination kebabs which comes with rice and salad, and I ordered the kofte kebab which also comes with rice and salad. I loved my kofte kebab it was well seasoned and it tasted really good! My fiancé loved his food but his favorite was the kofte kebab. They are so generous with their portion sizes be side it's filled with lots of rice and meat. One of my favorite Turkish restaurants thus by far! Highly recommend this place! read more
