Everything fine. Maybe 5-stars, but I like to reserve that for "above and beyond." Matt arrived on short notice on a Saturday to replace a leaky toilet supply valve. Friendly, professional, etc. 15 minutes of work time, plus 15 minutes of quote/payment, etc. I'm a do-it-yourselfer, and he was happy to explain some things that might help me handle it myself next time. Very open and helpful. Candid about a practical compromise he made in positioning the compression ring. His replacement angle valve seems nicer than what was available at Home Depot. Price: $141 after $35 discount for hesitating at the initial quote. He couldn't break it down, but I'd say $11 parts, $130 labor, Reasonable, I guess, after all the truck time, overheads, insurance. read more

We just had a leak repaired by Jaime at Burtech Plumbing. Jaime really knew his stuff, and was fast and efficient. He answered all my questions and explained everything very clearly to me. And, there was no hard-sell or up-sell to deal with. I really appreciate that Jaime did the job the right way. He could've left previous patches in place and just replace the part that was leaking but instead he removed all shoddy patches and replaced everything so that there is now one continuous new pipe. I developed a written scope of work for two large cast iron drain projects and solicited 12 quotes from 4.5-5.0 star plumbing contractors. I received 9 written quotes ranging from $32K to $14K. After few scope of work changes and revised quotes I selected Burtech Plumbing because of their low overall price, scope of work determination, high yelp review rating and BBB rating. I am happy to say that we were pleased with their performance. Both projects were done one at a time on back to back weeks. The team of Fabian and Arnold worked effectively together and had a great plan. They also cleaned up after themselves each day to minimize their impact to our home. One project had us jack hammering the slab in a closet behind our guest bathroom to access the old cast iron piping in order to replace the 2 inch sink and shower connections and a section of the 3 inch drain line from the guest toilet. Then we installed a liner for the rest of the the 3 inch piping so that we didn't have to jack hammer the entire run under the slab. The second project had us rerouting a 2 inch line from the kitchen down the side of the house and across the driveway so that we didn't have to jack hammer the 2 inch kitchen line going to the main drain under the slab foundation. Both of these plans had the least amount of intrusion into our current foundation but effectively either replaced or repaired our 64 year old cast iron drain system. I highly recommend you call Bill Schramm to at least get his perspective and a quote for comparison. You wont be disappointed. Curt read more

Usually, when I call a plumber, I expect the plumber's crack of despair - "Well, it looks like you need another abduction valve and corona bladder if you ever hope to secure the flushing swirl to remain clockwise." I would always pay as I remembered my horrible attempt 10 years ago to DIY my garbage disposal. Burtech is different from my past experiences. First off, their response on Yelp is awesome. When I launched my initial request, only two services replied, and Burtech was the only one that replied with a useful response. Second, the technician who came to my house was awesome. His name is Mike and he was great. He kept things safe by wearing a mask and booties, I appreciated this courtesy. He was very helpful in 'showing' not just 'explaining' the service that I needed. BEWARE. CHOOSE SOMEONE ELSE! Update to prematurely posted reviews (3 different, amiable service reps, each rated highly as a courtesy; posted BEFORE knowing each had failed the straightforward task of unclogging a sewer pipe). This review has been held back to ensure posted as unemotionally as possible. The 1st tech came out, "cleared" the clogged drain (sent drain-snake through the P-Trap under the vanity sink, after trying unsuccessfully to snake the tub drain, mentioning something about pipe circumference being too small for the tool he had with him). He did NOT attempt snaking the toilet pipe (source of the clog)- stating he preferred to avoid removing the toilet, whenever possible. Before leaving, he advised our bathtub was draining very slowly, suggested we check the drain for hair clogs and remove, if found. ??! In hindsight, we should have pointed out to tech #1 that the clog was likely at or BEFORE pipes under the toilet, versus in pipes AFTER the toilet (ie: under sink)-- though his comment re: our slow-draining tub and lack of evidence for the source of clog (no answer, when asked) should have been his clue that the job was incomplete, as he is the plumbing professional. A couple of days later BOTH bathroom toilets backed up / overflowed, both showers/tubs slow draining (initially only one toilet was clogged; other bathroom was usable). A 2nd tech came out and re-ran the snake- this time through the cleanout BEFORE bathroom drains. Once completed, he showed us the source of the clog-- a ball of tangled, matted hair (about the size of a small mouse). He mentioned having "a heck of a time winding in the snake" and stated that it "seemed to be caught on something". He was correct... the tool WAS caught on something: our main sewer pipe's backflow valve flapper- which was snapped off and dragged back through the pipe before wedging / stuck in place. Unbeknownst to us at the time, this was the cause of a NEW, far more serious pipe clog. Within a day or so, all toilets, showers and tubs backed up-- AGAIN. A 3rd tech came out, repeated the drain-snake process, removed the toilet in 1st bathroom /replaced the wax ring and stated everything was repaired. Not trusting this to be true, I asked him why I could see standing water just a few inches below the grate of the 2nd bathroom shower's drain. He stated this was normal / ok. (FYI- standing pipe-wayer is not normal, not ok...). After a 4th backup of both toilets just a few days after tech #3 declared the problem was resolved (in error), we reluctantly requested a 4th tech to resolve the issue. We received a callback from Burtech's owner, Bill, who mentioned something about our cost to his company, adding he would be bringing a camera to see why clogged (maybe should have done after 1st fail?). I refrained from pointing out the inconvenience his team had caused our family (now almost 2 weeks without working plumbing) least of which- hassle of cleaning up repeated toilet overflows. Owner Bill showed up with his camera (again-- 4th service call) seeming irritable / exasperated / put-out to be here. He sent his camera down the drain; soon after, showed crystal clear images of our broken flapper part- tightly wedged in the main sewer pipe, stating he'd "never seen anything like it before". (I couldn't make this stuff up... !) Going back to the comment made by tech #2... (...had a heck of time reeling in the drain-snake; seemed "stuck"), Bill's insistence that he's never seen this before rings hollow, imo. I've since asked MANY local plumbers to share their opinions re: Bill's comment about broken the flapper. Responses have been unanimous: "smells like bullsh@t". Owner Bill then quoted us a whopping $2700.00 to repair (their error) which would entail cutting / removing slabs of co create from our walkway in order for them to locate and remove the "stuck" flapper part, replace with new parts and installation of cleanout pipes for future use, as needed. When asked why he didnt use the existing cleanouts, he stated we didn't have any (incorrect). Owner Bill took no accountability for his technicians' errors. Tried negotiating... Bill offered to knock off a few hundred dollars from his quoted $2700.00 estimate-- provided I dig workspace (4 feet+ down to the the backflow valve) AND purchase the replacement parts. ?! When digging, I located 2 cleanouts (owner Bill stated these did not exist). After 3 weeks w/out plumbing; no return calls from Bill @ Burtech (expected he might at very least check in, to ensure issues caused by his team were resolved- considering the multiple calls made to him in which I was CLEARLY upset...). In end, went w/ someone else, who corrected the plumbing error(s) in an afternoon-- charged a small fraction of the amount proposed in Bill's (greedy) estimate. Hoping this review may prevent others from having a similar experience. read more

Toilet was plugged for a month. Didn't feel like dealing. The guy showed up, I explained I already had a really good snake but couldn't reach that clog. He said he "might have a secret." He came in and BANG! Fixed it in 15 seconds. He ran it a couple more times just to be certain. He then told me I can do it myself next time which is something you never hear. He taught me two methods with the snake I got and I may not have to call him anymore. I will definitely advise calling him. Not sure of that negative review. Dude was cool as heck. I thought for sure it was going to be a 30 minute sit around pow wow session but he was in and out. Speed saves time, gives me more time to get more work done and that stupid toilet issue couldn't have went any smoother if you tried. Absolutely use these guys. I'm not in San Francisco. My T & P Valve on my water heater needed replacing but the drain pipe was soldered to the valve so I couldn't do it myself. I got on Yelp to find a plumber and 4 responded. The first one came to the house right away and told me I needed a new water heater and tried to charge me $89 for the visit without letting me know before hand. (FYI I refused to pay it and they reversed the charge.) I knew they were trying to take advantage of me. I also knew I didn't need a new water heater. The next day, Bill from Burtech Plumbing came over. He asked if my water heater was under warranty. It was but I didn't know it at the time since I just bought my house a year ago and didn't even think to check. He gave me a fair price to replace the valve and left. He was straightforward and honest - that's how I like to be treated. I didn't even bother meeting with the other plumbers after that. Burtech Plumbing sent Steven Ernst to replace the valve the following day. He had to cut the copper drain pipe and replace it. He did such an amazing job. Whoever put in the pipe before Steve either never soldered before or had their 5 year old do it because it was a mess. Steve's soldering work was very clean and looked like it was done by someone who took pride in their work and cared about their customer. I know that a drain pipe from the water heater is not important to the esthetics of a house but since this is my first home, it's important to me and I'm proud of how it looks now. Steven then turned everything back on and made sure everything was working properly before he left. I highly recommend Steven and Burtech Plumbing. I will not hesitate to contact them again for any future plumbing needs. I'm so happy and relieved to have found a plumbing company that I can trust. read more

I purchased a whole home water filtration system and Jaime from Burtech came out to install it. Right away he started on the job and did a crazy clean install! Everything was super meticulous like making sure the pipes were exactly level, that everything was strait and not just slapped together. He also found a major kink in my main water line and fixed that and also replaced my super old pressure regulator. My water is now chlorine free and my water pressure is significantly improved!
