This place is really fun, staff is really friendly and definitely a fun way to blow 2 hours. The only problem is both times I've been there, Ive been lucky and been there when it's mostly empty but they made us share a lane with another party. If you're there on a date, or with a group of friends, I want to talk with them, not with the 4 other strangers who don't really want to talk to me either. I assume they do this for safety reasons so it's easier to monitor everyone if they are in one place but I just think that if there are only two groups there and all the lanes are empty each group should have their own lane. Also this makes it so that you wait for your turn longer than you spend actually throwing. It's a fun place but that's my only gripe. read more

Went here on a second date expecting what I encountered at another axe throwing place that is nearby. Boy was I wrong. they treat you like you're an idiot who's going to injure themselves. they never leave you alone and have an axe Master there with you the entire time. And then find games like Jenga to mix up be straight up axe throwing competition. I wasn't there to compete with anyone, I was there to get to know my date. Which didn't happen at all cuz we had no time to talk. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! The man that was working came up to us and just snatched the axes out of our hands. Instead of correcting us about taking off the ax before we throw the other one, he came with another employee and snatched everything and locked it up. VERY disrespectful and I don't know who raised him, but that customer service was terrible. Next time, correct us rather than silently snatching things out of our hands. Never again. We were group of 8people when we did booking. They were shorts of Axe masters they told us but we didn't felt soo. There was other group of 6 they were given 2 lanes(full box) to play. I went here for my SIL's birthday. We had a group of 18 and our hatchet masters were amazing, funny and helpful the whole time. They were really able to wrangle the group and make thr games fun and went with the flow. The place was BYOB and BYOF so it was great that we could snack and talk in between turns. We had a blast! What a weird and fun activity! I don't think the regular price is justified, but they always have a groupon. I went with 1 other person (too many people and then you have to take too many turns and who wants to do that) and we got SO much out of our 2-hour session. There are surprisingly not too many "rules"; it's safer than one would assume. Staff is nice (Joe!) and the place is quite big with a nice seating area and lots of tables to bring snacks and BYOB. I coordinated a group of 10. Used Groupon to get reduced rate. Then I reserved our lane on the bury the hatchet website with coupon. Groupon was accepted and payment made. The night of hatchet lesson was facilitated by Ayanna, who let us when we got there, that she would be with us soon, which she was. She was a nice a fun teacher, making sure we followed rules. We ordered pizza which the establishment kindly provided us with paper towels, as they didn't have to, seeing I didn't plan properly for eating. I'm still confused about byob policy here. well, if your a fan of the outdoors and are truly ready for something out of the norm then i think "bury the hatchet axe throwing" in Bloomfield Nj is the way to go. the overall experience was so-so. the staff- i was ushered in by Yil- was amazing an quite attentive. Yil even coming by to show me a underhand grip and toss method. they had a mega size connect four game piece and i even saw a mega size jenga game, nice. i went in the afternoon an was told i was getting a off peak special of $30 as opposed to the $120 they usually change per hour. smh, has i'm writing this review i can't believe anyone would pay that ridiculous amount to toss a dam axe for an hour. side note my tomahawk was loosening up so often i was told by yil to just go ahead and bang it on its head to position it correctly. the target board was starting to fall to pieces from constant axe throwing, so much so that long vertical slabs of it would fall with each contact made from ax. it could have been changed but i assume they wait till they get to a certain level of worn before that happens. the bathroom was clean an tidy. the lounge/seating area was definable by the distinguishing style and decor. outside of the pricing i would see how ace throwing can entice a socializing experience on par with bowling or a pool hall. read more

This was a great time! I went with a friend and brought wine, but if I go back I'll definitely bring a big group with drinks, food, etc. We had a good time, but the big group next to us had a BALL. It made us laugh watching them. James was our Axe Master and he was patient with teaching us technique. Ladies, try not to wear flowy clothing; it was annoying for me to constantly readjust myself between throwing and constantly bending over to pick up the axes. I went to Bury the Hatchet as part of a corporate event. We reserved the lanes over the phone about two weeks prior, and we were able to add additional people to the headcount up to 24 hours before. The two axe masters assigned to us, Dave and Kate, were very helpful and had a great sense of humor. They made sure our event was fun from beginning to end. They started out giving us a safety lesson and showing us the proper axe throwing techniques. They stayed with us our whole 2-hour event and led our group in different games. We had over 20 people participate, and every single one had a great time and gave rave reviews. For logistics, parking is street metered only. In addition to the axe throwing lanes, there are picnic tables where you can congregate when it's not your turn. There is also a lounge with some couches. The place is BYO for food and drinks. In a nutshell this place is pretty cool, found on Groupon but they're slots sell up fast so the only thing available last minute was the Night Owl session which I appreciated because it's only an hour and I wasn't sure if I could last two hours throwing axes( per the Groupon). This place is BYO : food, beer, and whine which I also appreciated I thought that was a cool factor. In depth... So last night I came to the Bloomfield location for the Night Owl session. When I came in there wasn't anyone at the front desk however there was a kind "Axe Master" able to help us in the meantime( I really wish I got his name, but you know who u are lol) . The place was rather packed and we got there about 20 minutes early so we didn't mind the short wait. However, we soon realized we were the only people for the night owl session which I thought would be cooler. Unfortunately, it was rather apparent our instructor would've rather been anywhere else. For starters, while explaining the directions he had a hard time keeping his eyes opened, as he slouched around and gave mediocre instructions.( going off of body language). We start playing and He offers to keep score, but he was on his phone so much that I spent more time trying to ask if he caught the score than actually playing. Clearly not a person to hold my breath, so after expressing to him that he wasn't doing a good job at keeping score,he was offended. To make matters worse when I started really loosing I felt like he antagonized me.. that's when keeping score became important to him. And he couldn't help but remind me that I was loosing. Lastly, in the 20 minutes we spent observing we noticed the workers would switch off the wooden boards occasionally, I definitely think our board could have been switched at some point, but what do I know ‍. read more
