The catfish fingers?!?! DELICIOUS! Sunshine, our waitress, described them as hard fried on the outside but soft and yummy on the inside and it was accurate!! I should have checked my last review before coming here and ordering the same thing. Looked liked they split 1 egg to be shared ontop of 2 muffins lol. Bland. Muffin was really soft, which made it difficult to cut thru the ham and egg, all together. I had been fasting so I was hungry but I was still hungry when I left. Waiter was absent for a minute. The best food; I've had in a long time! I typically get a Po-Boy. The one in Baltimore does not compare.

My family and I are regulars here; there's something for everyone! Food/drinks: The catfish, sweet potato fries, falafel salad, gluten free friendly pancakes, and bacon are at the top of my list! Oh -- and the brisket sandwich, which has become my toddler's favorite takeaway. GF and DF is easy to navigate. Love that they have fresh OJ on the weekends, and their cocktails (which I rarely get these days) will wake you up! Service: I don't go for the service. They're busy and generally nice, but not really friendly. And usually I have to teach someone down or get something myself. There's one staff member who is my fave and always looks out for us. Ambiance: It's fine; chill. My kiddo loves the book section. I love that they have ample seating. Family-friendly: Definitely. Multiple high chairs available. Would be awesome if the buckles actually worked, but we manage. It's a solid go to for brunch, lunch dates, and take out...we'll see you next week! read more

(fried chicken, catfish, pork bbq ribs and vegan pasta were the options) Everything came out in a decent time; appetizers, entree and dessert were amazing. Food was hot. I tried both beverage options; lavender lemonade and sweetened iced tea (forgot to take pic). They were delicious but I did add some water to my lemonade. The ambiance was cozy & cute. Nice playlist and you could still hear your conversation. The stick candle on the table added a nice touch. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. I would def book again and just to try different dish maybe the graham pasta bc that looked delicious as well. Food was delicious. We had the Smoked Brisket Hash, a single Sweet Potato Pancake, and the Burger. The hash was good, but the other two items blew it out of the water! That pancake. So delicious. So perfect. Best pancake I've had so far in DC. And a single one is great for splitting between two people. Also, the Burger was the perfect balance of juicy, thick, and with a great sauce. One of those burgers where you're like "why can't I make them this good at home"? Also, shout out to Ledeya for her wonderful service! Will definitely be coming back. UBEREATS ORDER: It's like they threw the falafel sandwich together without looking at the ingredients! There were no cucumbers or radishes and the lettuce was slimy and old! I've ordered this sandwich from other locations so I know what it is supposed to look like. There were only 5 falafel balls not the 6 described in the menu. The cup of soup was filled halfway so I paid $5 for 4oz of soup??? Overall, it was a MAJOR disappointment and waste of money since the sandwich tasted old; the pita bread was stale too! Since the food quality is so awful I'm not sure the atmosphere of being inside the restaurant would help. read more

This was my fiancé and I's first time here and we couldn't have been more satisfied! The food was really good--I kept it simple with the bacon & cheddar burger and my fiancé got the chicken panini (she loved it) but this was one of the first times that I went someplace and ACTUALLY got true a medium finished burger. And it tasted great! The coffee was okay but it was well enough that I could still enjoy it. The overall vibe was nice too. We were able to sit on our laptops and get some writing and school work done after our meals and our servers, Sunshine & Modupe, were extremely attentive and made the entire experience enjoyable. 10/10 recommend people come here read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Busboys and Poets on Monroe Street. This is my neighborhood location, which makes this especially unfortunate because I genuinely love this restaurant and have always enjoyed coming here. I sat at the bar, and the bartender, Jonathan, never acknowledged me--not once. He greeted and served the white patrons sitting on both sides of me, but completely ignored me. After waiting, I eventually had to place my order through the manager. I wasn't even offered a glass of water. When Jonathan abruptly brought me my check, I told him how disappointed I was with the way I had been treated. Rather than listening or apologizing, he argued with me and went back and forth instead of acknowledging my experience or showing any concern. I also spoke with the manager, hoping the situation would be handled differently. Unfortunately, there was no apology or acknowledgment of what had happened. My to-go bag was simply placed in front of me without a word. Everyone deserves to feel seen and welcomed when they walk into a restaurant. As someone who loves and wants to support this neighborhood restaurant, this experience was incredibly disheartening. I hope management takes customer service seriously and addresses how guests are treated so no one else leaves feeling dismissed and unwelcome. read more

However, I have to be honest: I go to the free grocery store a lot because... I'm broke. The knockoff chick'n they hand out there tastes exactly like what I had here. Don't get me wrong, I love that chick'n. It's soy protein, and it tastes like soy protein, which is fine for what it is.
