First I should say that the food was actually pretty decent, but the service was junk. I wasn't even acknowledged when I walked in, and had to get the attention of wait staff to find out if they seat me or what... So I guess it's seat yourself. Anyway, I found my booth in the back which I always do if possible because of my service dog. Once I was seated I did have my order taken pretty quickly and then I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and it was disgusting! After I got my food, I still had to ask for silverware and ask for ketchup and hot sauce again. While I was eating, I was very disturbed to smell cigarette smoke which was coming from a room near where I was sitting and you could watch them smoke like in the 70's when they had a non smoking seat right next to a smoking seat. My husband and I eat here 2 or more times a week. For the last 3 years ever since we moved to Alvin. We have had all of the waitress's. We have eaten at every shift. The morning workers are the best. But they all are friendly. The food is not cooked the same way every time but there are different shifts of those to. I am on a special diet for my kidneys and they cook my food however I order it. All you have to do is ask. If you have had a bad experience try them again no one is perfect all the time. read more

Doesn't even deserve one star after last night's experience, our first experience was great but last night it took 30 minutes to receive our food and on top of that our waiter took ANOTHER 30 minutes to give us our bill and only checked on us ONCE and didn't even offer to refill our drinks. This place is not the most convenient place but it's sure worth it when you get there. Service is always great and the food is delicious. Best gizzards. Mashed potatoes are real potatoes with skins left on! White gravy is perfectly seasoned and delicious! Just like homemade but better since I don't have to do the clean up! Three words: Chicken Fried Steak. Do you like it? If the answer is yes, this is the place for you. Also the Fried mushrooms are amazing. Decent omlettes. If you drink a lot, it's fun from closing time until 4 AM. If you don't, spare yourself. The patrons are rowdy and foul mouthed. During all other times of the day, it is filled with country folk and old people who don't tip, so you may have to deal with angry waitstaff. But who could blame them. OH Busy Bee, you never fail to disappoint. After eating breakfast every Saturday and Sunday there for 3 years we stopped going years ago due to crappy service. That service went into decline after we sent back a rib eye that was under cooked and in a fit of spite the cook burned it and sent it back. The manager took care of that situation.That happened about 4 years ago. However, every so often we get a wild hair and decide to go..that day was today. We went in and placed our order. We watched 3 other tables that came in after us get their food. One of those tables walked in a good 10 minutes after we ordered. As we started to walk and pay for our drinks our food hit the window. At that point we were not interested in consuming food there. The lady at the register comped our drinks and apologized for the poor service. What we find interesting is that it is ALWAYS the same cook when these things happen. Since they want to throw away a $50.00 tab several times a week and often double that when friends join us, we will be happy to find a place that will treat us well for it. The people giving this place a good rating must be really old or have no taste buds. The food as this place is nasty and the service is terrible. my 70 year old father loves this place though. but he will eat almost anything which doesnt surprise me he likes it. his other favorite place is parks across the street.gag me. Today our AARP local chapter 3912 and friends stopped here for lunch after touring the Wildlife Reserve. The service and meals we enjoyed cannot be beat. The waitresses were cordial, professional and so ready to serve us. The meals offered on the menus were varied, reasonable in price and mouth watering to say the least. It was difficult for me to select. There was so much offered that I like. I chose the meatloaf and enjoyed this savory delicious meal very much. The half baked potato was more like a whole one with all the toppings and peas. It was all delicious and the extra treat of home-made hot rolls with whipped butter and honey added the perfect touch. I had room for no more and even brought home a "doggie" bag not for my doggies but for my supper. A super great place to go when in Alvin. I can't imagine there to be a nicer one with such great food and so many choices. No one left there hungry, many with "doggie" bags, and everyone with a smile. read more

My family faced racism at this restaurant. We came in around 10 and it was pretty quiet, so our waitress (who was white) came over and took our order. The food was delivered in a reasonable time, but her attitude was terrible. We kindly asked her for some salsa (twice) and she said she'd bring it out, but never did. Then she refused to come to our table to refill drinks and she told us she was sorry because she was busy--- but there were only two other families in the restaurant (who were white) and we noticed how she constantly made sure their drinks were filled and they were satisfied with their food. Fortunately this other waitress who was working in the back realized what was happening and quickly stepped in to serve us, but we were almost finished with our meals. I would have given this one star, but the kind waitress who stepped in earns a star. I'm never coming back to this place again, no matter how delicious the food was. What a complete disgrace! read more
