But like with nearly everything else, I would pass by it all the time only to not ever set foot into it. While I was getting another haircut, I thought about places to grab lunch afterwards. It occurred to me that I should give Kelley's a try. And that's how I found myself among its Saturday lunch crowd. Anyone who has lived in the area for a long time knows that the location fell victim to a Valentine's Day fire some years back. It was subsequently rebuilt, thus the interior felt so brand new. For lunch, I had the Saturday special consisting of roast chicken and dressing alongside red beans and rice, macaroni and cheese and cole slaw. Portions-wise, everything was just fine. Kelley's is known to fill its guests up (you have to try their breakfast, by the way). Unfortunately, however, the meal was simply underwhelming. The chicken lacked seasoning, and the dressing was absent of any flavor. The sides were the saving grace, if anything. I live near the restaurant's sister branch in La Marque, so I know that there's more to try on the menu if I return.

I ordered a waffle combo and I had 2 sausage patties and 3 over medium eggs and they were able to accommodate me with sugar free syrup that was really good. My wife had the twice over (I may have the name wrong) but it was ham, 2 sausage patties, 2 over medium eggs, and toast with sliced tomatoes. Our food was amazingly delicious given the low price, the smallness of the restaurant, and the lack of a more welcoming vibe, not the service but the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, it was chill but in a weird kind of half warming way if that makes sense. In a nutshell, I would still recommend this place and will go back. Enjoy!

The restaurant itself isn't very big so tables are pretty close together. They also have bar seating if you're eating solo, but no alcohol as far as I could tell. Customer service was ok. Our guy was friendly but there were things left off the order and we had to repeat requests a few times. I started off with coffee. I like that they creamer choices at the table that was also stocked really well. The menu is pretty extensive and there is something to please everyone here. They have a whole page showing they can make your eggs in every which way. They truly did cover all the bases as far as having every variety of breakfast you can think of. This place stays open until 2 so they also have a page of lunch options as well. My family got a variety of different things and not one complaint was heard. I went for something a little different called the Eagle's Nest. It's basically a scramble. It had diced ham, bacon, sausage, peppers, onions and tomatoes scrambled with eggs, hash browns and topped with cheese and white gravy. I specifically asked for sausage gravy as an upgrade but didn't get it. I wasn't about to waste food so I kept it. I think sausage gravy would have made this dish elite. The regular white gravy had to be doctored up with a little more salt and a lot more black pepper. I love a mish mash of food all in one bite so this dish was good once I added my little flair. It came with a side of your choice of bread and I went with sourdough. It was weird that they serve the bread dry and toasted and do not even offer butter unless asked. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here. The minor misses pale in comparison to the good. I would most definitely come back if in the area as this immediate stretch of 518 doesn't have alot of unique options like Pelican.

The grits were also very soupy. I had pushed my full cup of hot tea to the edge of the table, the server either didn't notice or just didn't care. I was only asked once if I was needing anything else, and since she didn't ask about my full cup of tea, I wasn't going to say anything. When she came over to the table she asked if I needed anything, I stated No, I am done. She asked if I wanted my check, and I paid my tab. They do advertise Bloody Mary's and other breakfast cocktails but I didn't have any of those. The location is good, area outside for the kids to run and play. Seating outside also to watch the kids. I think I would only return to this place if I am invited out to brunch with my group of friends. Otherwise, would be a long while before I return, being hopeful things have improved.

The steak was seasoned very well and cooked to a perfect medium rare, exactly how I ordered it. My only complaint was that the particular cut I received had quite a bit of fat on it, but the flavor and cook were both excellent. The grilled shrimp were also seasoned really well. The French fries and gravy were good, and I enjoyed the hush puppies too. The staff was very attentive and friendly throughout the meal.
