Great food, large portions. We've been here twice now and this will be our go to spot in Alvin. Amanda was great!

Scrambled egg biscuit with country potatoes. Typically smothered in sausage gravy but I asked for mine in the side. Delish.

This place is not super fancy inside but it was clean clean and the food was very good. I'm not usually in this area but it was a good stop. Our server was super nice and took great care of us. I got scrambled egg covered biscuit with sausage gravy. Another person in our group had a waffle that she said was delicious and one had a chicken fried steak that looked VERY good. Every bite was gone! Very good and the prices were great.

Today was my first experience and I went in for breakfast. I haven't been to any of the locations in area but heard great things from other so I decided to give it a try. Walking in you have that nice cozy mom and pop dining atmosphere with plenty of seating. There is a smoking section with closed doors but if your sitting close enough you can smell the smoke once the door opens which isn't very pleasant. Our waitress was very friendly and had great customer service which was a highlight of this visit. I had a biscuit and gravy breakfast with potatoes. The potatoes were awesome the gravy was delicious but the biscuits weren't all that, they just didn't have much flavor and were not the best. Not sure if I would give another shot to a different location.

Pie! Nom nom! Pecan was delicious! Their apple pie was flavorful!

The food is great, waitstaff has been a tad forgetful about refills and providing simple requests. Each time we have been there we have had to request and remind waitress about different things, menu items, side dishes not delivered, while I'd heard their bigger than your head cinnamon rolls are delicious it takes forever to get one to go. Why? Who knows. But we prefer their pies while not spectacular are better than the underwhelming cinnamon rolls! BUT, like I said the food is delicious! Their chicken fried steak is awesome! Haven't had a burger yet but hubbys looked delicious!

Fantastic breakfast spot in my hometown, BLT with a medium well fried egg. Nice gooey center.

Basically I'm rating the batter fried chicken livers. I love fried chicken livers and the Busy Bee is the only place in Alvin//Clear Lake area you can get good ones. I've only eaten at this location this one time. The local chain has been in the area since the '30s. It has lost attendance in recent years and three of their locations have closed including one in Texas City, one in Seabrook (it's now a Hooters). I used to go to the one Seabrook regularly for the chicken livers. I don't think they treat their employees very well. At the one in Seabrook the turnover was astounding. As a result the servers seemed unhappy to be there and this was reflected in the service. It was my opinion this resulted in concerns about cleanliness. When I knew we were going to Froberg's farmers market I immediately said I was coming here for the livers. My wife had breakfast which she thought was excellent. Alvinites must like breakfast here too, because it was jammed when we arrived at 10am. There was only one parking space left and we took the only unoccupied table and it's not a tiny place. Update: I've been here for lunch twice since, when my hobby brought me to Alvin. I always get the chicken livers. ___ We've Eaten Out Every Meal for 25 years .

Nice little place open 24 hours. Waitress was nice and the food wasn't that bad. Nothing to write home about just typical diner food.

She was awesome. Everyone loved their food. I had the Big Breakfast again and had the same banana pecan pancakes I ordered during my last visit but this time I got jalapeno bacon as my protein and hashbrowns instead of grits. The bacon was SO GOOD and was full of jalapeno flavor but minus the spice. I could've eaten a couple more slices of that goodness. It was crispy, a tad bit burnt but again it was so good. The hashbrowns were perfectly crispy. I also made sure to get plenty of strawberry butter this time and I slathered it all over my pancake and biscuit. The kiddos had child's plates that included two mini pancakes, eggs and a choice of protein. My cousin had a hash that looked incredible and she said it was very tasty. I'll have to try it out one day if I can ever break myself away from the pancakes. Just like last time the amibiance was warm, cozy, family friendly and Christian themed. This just might be my fave breakfast spot. I absolutely love it.

You just don't see that often and I wanted to try it. The stars aligned and my family and I met up here for a weeknight dinner. Alvin is the true definition of a small town. It is just south of Pearland and life moves a little slower out here. Atleast for time being as it is becoming more developed now. The building itself is old and full of character. Everyone seemed to know each other. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, but service was a tad bit slow at times. My family isn't a big drinking family so we stuck with water and sodas, but they have quite a nice bar program here. They have a really impressive beer selection, a long list of specialty cocktails and lots of wine to choose from. I'm definitely coming back to check that out without the fam. For appetizers, we got an order of the scotch eggs and the Bavarian pretzel sticks. This was my first introduction to scotch eggs and a wonderful one at that. You really can't go wrong with anything wrapped in sausage and deep friend. It was a nice treat and something I will not be sharing next time. The pretzels were also very good. Our waitress suggested some cheese sauce to accompany those. These sticks of goodness were excellent. For my entree, I was stuck on a few items as their menu is pretty extensive. Our waitress said my option for the Pork Milanesa was the way to go, so I did. I've had milanesa at Mexican restaurants, but never in a tavern nor prepared this way. This was hand battered in panko and then topped with a mushroom gravy. It comes with broccoli and mashed potatoes but I substituted the veggie for mac and cheese. This dish was very good and the portions were very generous. Enough for me to have a full second meal minus the sides. The pork was thinly pounded and kept it's crunch even doused in gravy. The gravy was rich and very delicious. My family got a mix of items like the philly cheese steak, flat iron steak salad, tavern salad, and chicken fried steak. For research purposes and for my loyal readers, I tried everything. There wasn't anything that was bad to me. We were full so desserts didn't happen on this trip. Overall, Gordon Street Tavern is a solid spot that I would happily return to if in the area.

The service was great and they are very attentive. Cornbread: They came out with regular rolls but the cornbread was my favorite. It wasnt very sweet. It was more like a savory and warm cornbread muffin. It was pretty good though. Chicken fried chicken: As you can see from my picture, it is massive. The chicken breading is great and it is nice and crispy. The chicken breast was juicy and came out nice and hot. They put the gravy on the side so its perfect to dip. Mashed potatoes: The mashed potatoes were great. They are smooth with no skin or chunks inside. The gravy came on top which added great flavor. Mac and Cheese: My mac and cheese came out a little cold but it was alright. It wasn't extremely cheesy either, it just tasted a little plain for my taste. I wish it was more cheesy and warmer. Buttered corn: Speaks for itself. It's corn kernels and butter. Cant mess that up. Overall, very good food and you can tell lots of butter was put into every dish. So just beware if you don't like overly salty food!!!
