The avocado toast was disgusting. The very little avocado that was on the toast was completely brown. There was no custard or pickled onion on it and only arugula was on it. I was pretty bummed. I decided to venture out a bit and try the coffee cake (because I'm adventurous like that) and my mistake...sticking to the cinnamon roll. Came in with my mom for breakfast and both of us were very underwhelmed. Service was good and my white chocolate iced mocha with lavender was amazing but that's about all the good things I can say. I ordered the chorizo breakfast tacos with potatoes. Potatoes came out cold and overcooked and the tacos were so soggy they fell apart the second I picked it up. I'm guessing the cook failed to drain the Pico de gallo before he put it on the tacos. I brought it back and they redid the tacos but brought the same potatoes so they were even colder once I got the food back. The second set of tacos were nothing I'd go back for is putting it nicely (dry overcooked egg chorizo cheese mush)....I told my mom we should have gone to bakers drive thru for breakfast tacos. My mom had the avocado toast that had very little avocado....it should have been called an egg and greens toast. I almost hate to share how good this place is!! It's my weekend go-to and I can always get a table for breakfast!! My savory favorite is the Adobo fried rice - ask for two eggs on top rather than scrambled and to splurge, a side of spam if that's your thing (it's mine). My sweet favorite is the Lilikoi French toast with the passion fruit custard - just dip your ftench toast slice right in the custard and skip the syrup. The location is cute and easy to get too and the food was decent but I was disappointed that they only had whole, almond, soy and oat milk only - no reduce fat. This led me to not get coffee but all is not lost. The food actually looked a little NOT appetizing but turns out it had a lot of flavor (specifically the migas). I love another cute coffee spot/brunch spot popping up near me! They have pretty restricted hours (not sure if they're just for soft opening or if they will be expanding) most days seems like they close around 2 pm. BUT...Butter has breakfast ALL DAY so yes to a mid day breakfast burrito! I came in on a weekend, we ordered a scone, breakfast burritos and lattes. The burrito was an A+.....but sadly you can only choose one meat and they won't let you pay extra to do like bacon AND sausage inside (hope they change that), the burritos are pretty loaded I would say they're enough to share. The tater tots inside gave the overall item a great texture! The scone was really good too solid on the outside but soft and crumbled on the inside. Oh how the mighty has fallen. We ordered the best burger we have ever eaten, looking forward to our treat. Sadly, what we received was not what we had come to expect. The burger looked as delicious as always, but it had a sheen of grease on top. My husband took paper napkins to blot it away, but it still permeated the bun. The first bite seemed a little off. We debated about what was different. The combination of flavors was just not quite right. We finally decided it was the barbecue sauce that was either missing or used in a small quantity. That yummy combination of cheeses sauce and a sweeten sauce were just not there. Combined with the greasiness of the burger, left it at a rating of just OK. The other thing that was off was the fries. No one likes lukewarm limp fries and that's what these were. Now I know that everybody can have an off day and frankly the cook did not seem to be having a great day, I can understand that's a tough job. We went in on a Saturday around 1pm. They were out of a few items for the day, which we understood but it did eliminate quite a few interesting items off of the menu. However, the food we ordered was delicious. My girl loved her huevos rancheros and my hash was something different than your usual hash for breakfast. Another great experience! Sunday morning, be sure to get in early because they are such a great place to visit, they keep people coming back regularly. Today we enjoyed the pastries. I had the strawberry ricotta pastry. It is delectable! The interior is soft and moist and the exterior is perfectly glazed with the just the right amount of caramelized texture. It has a lemon undertone. The coffee cake is more of a crumble on top and is so nicely complimented inside with a marble cake interior. Pairs so well with their coffee. They offer Bulletproof coffee and sugar free vanilla syrup for all you coffee lovers doing your Keto thing like I do. Today is chest day but it's good to know I can come in and get my keto ingredients together in a nice coffee. Glad they focus primarily on the customer and always make you feel so welcomed. A nice breakfast/brunch spot in the northern part of Upland. I went early in the morning at around 9am and there was almost no one there. There were a few people sitting and eating already, but there was plenty of seating. There is no waiter service so I recommend grabbing a spot to eat at and then dining if you have a large party with you. Today, we ordered the chicken fried steak and the French toast. I would like to point out that the chicken fried steak is not actually made out of chicken, but the fried patty is made from beef. Kind of interesting, but nonetheless a great meal. I chose for it to come with home fried potatoes and sourdough bread with sunny side eggs. The country gravy was really nice because it was a little sweet and it went well with the flavor of the steak. We also ordered the French toast and it was a sweet treat. If you like really sweet things then this is right for you. The toast tasted very good on its own and adding the syrup would be little overboard with the sweetness. I recommend cutting pieces from the toast and dipping it in the syrup cup. Overall, I give my dining experience a 9/10. read more

First time here. You walk in and you order at the register. The menu is posted on tv screens above. They have a display case of sweets like muffins and cakes. After you pay, they call out your name when your food is ready. I ordered a chai latte, butter avocado toast plate with sausage on the side, and a lemon pound cake from the display case. I got my cake first and it's moist and lemony. Very good. The chai latte came out next. It tasted good, but not as good as at Starbucks. Not enough chai flavor, more like a regular latte. The avocado toast comes with 2 eggs cooked your choice (I chose over easy). I also chose to remove the pickled onions. The eggs are on top of challah bread slices topped with arugula. I really liked the arugula with the avocado and eggs. The avocado was seasoned and was delicious on its own. I could have used more salt and pepper on the eggs. The bread felt fresh but didn't really taste fresh? Hard to explain. But I ended not finishing the bread portion. You also get a choice of potatoes, tater tots, or salad. I opted for the taters. They were crispy and yummy. Can't say the same for the sausage. It wasn't good at all. They cook food to order and it's casual. I'd come here again to try other items that might be better. read more

Service Was good, stuff was friendly; however, if you asking me how I would prefer my food, and I reply in how I like my food, please honor my request and communicate with the cook. Another flaw if you bring my drink order to my table, I would assume you will do the same for my food order. It took us about idk a few minutes to figure out that our food was just sitting at the counter, by the time we realized our was a bit cold no longer hot. Food quality Food was tasty and delicious, we order the chilaquiles and huevos rancheros, I know this is not a Mexican place but their Mexican dishes do justice. Drink quality We ordered ice teas. The problem with the ice tea was over brew and had a bitter taste. Business Hours Here's another suggestion if you still under your soft launch please tell me that, that way i don't feel rushed since you are closing your doors with 20 minutes after getting my food. I wanted to like this place, but I wasn't happy with the service. Long story short, they "sent out" my food and I guess someone else picked it up (I never heard my name called). My husband and I waited for 40 minutes for our food. We noticed people who ordered at the same time as we did were already long gone. I went inside to ask about it, and that's when they told me what happened. I totally understand that mistakes happen, especially when it's busy, but they were barely apologetic. After they realized what happened, they just said: "Sorry about that, we'll start making it right now," and that's it. I told them I was waiting for 40 minutes, so I just thought maybe they'd offer like a complimentary drink or pastry while I wait another 15 minutes, or comp something small off our bill? I'm not trying to sound like a cheap ass, but when I worked at a restaurant, that's what we did: If someone messed up, and knew a table was unhappy, we'd let the manager know and they'd go speak to the guests and comp something from the bill, or offer a free dessert/appetizer. I mean, we waited 40 freaking minutes for 2 plates. It was busy, not not 40-minutes-for-your-basic-plates busy. I'm not interested in returning. The meals weren't bad at all, but not memorable. I first tried Butter a few weeks back. Through Yelp, I ordered a coffee and sandwich to be picked up at their Upland location. The bill came out to $28...super pricey, but I was starved. When I came to pick up, I noticed that the shop itself had some delectable pastries and goods. Right off the bat I should note that the service here is great. Shoutout to the gentleman making his rounds asking each patron if they would like complimentary ice water. I love a place that takes care in providing a pleasant customer service experience. This morning I ordered the Avocado Toast, a cinnamon bun and a coffee and man...was I disappointed when I got home and opened my to-go order. When you say avocado toast I expect at the very least to have a nice, hearty layer of avocado. Instead, I got a sad tablespoon plopped right in the middle of the challah bread with more toppings (eggs, arugula) than actual avocado. The bread is delicious, but quite heavy. I found that I could not finish it. Coming in at $11.95, I closed my take-out container, feeling hangry and regretting having spent so much on food. I'm not sure if I'll stop by again.
