Multiple visits and I consistently like the pastries and beverage, but I wish I enjoyed the food nearly as much. Located right outside of the Upland Hills Country Club, Butter Cafe & Bakery is in the same plaza as Tutor Time and ReMax. Even though they are new, both the patio seating and the roomy interior seating are usually all filled up. Your order at the cashier and they will call your number when it is ready. On both occasion, I had to follow up on parts of my order that was missing. Condiments and utensils are self serve to the left of where your order is picked up, but on both occasion they were out of syrup or ketchup and a lot of the patrons were waiting a while for a refill. The Butter Favorites are marked by a BF on the menu, but there is no indication what BF means anywhere unless you ask. On my first visit I ordered the Green Eggs and Ham ($9.95), 16oz Matcha Honey Latte ($4.50) and Smores Bar ($3.85). On my second visit I had another Butter Favorite, the Chicken Artichoke Spinach sandwich ($10.95), 16oz Matcha Honey Latte ($4.50) and Cream Cheese Banana Bread ($4). Iced Matcha Honey Latte - The common denominator during both visits and the only reason I would consider coming back to Butter. This ice matcha honey latte is absolutely PHENOMINAL!! Better than other tea houses I have been to that specializes in matcha products. This drink is perfectly balanced with sweetness, creaminess and the utmost quality matcha. I can see myself becoming a regular for this drink alone! Green Eggs and Ham - Named after one of my favorite childhood stories, it does not live up to the sentiments I feel about the book. They serve 2 eggs, pesto, proscuito and arugula on french bread. The bread was very tough and the combination of their peto and proscuito were overly salty. Even eating the potatoes that it came with in between bites could not save this dish from being unbearably salty. Smores Bar - I took it for the road and it was pretty sweet but still enjoyable as I took a few bites throughout the day. The touch of toasted marshmallow on top was especially delicious. Chicken Artichoke Spinach sandwich - I opted for the side of fries with my sandwich. I was not expecting too much from the fries but instead I liked the fries much better than the sandwich that was bland in taste and soggy in texture. From an ingredients point of view, I enjoy chicken, spinach, roasted bell peppers, artichokes and provolone but the minute I picked it up my sandwich was already SOGGY. I hate soggy bread so I was trying to salvage the interior but everything was so BLAND. The chicken was especially bland. Cream Cheese Banana Bread - Not sweet but extremely rich. I can only handle about a bite of this an hour. This is not their first location, so I really hope the imbalanced flavors are due to new staff to train. I'll wait a while before I reengage the part of their menu that needs cooking. In the mean time, I am hooked on the iced matcha honey latte so I'll have to be back. And my beloved ice matcha honey latte is the ONLY thing saving this place from being a 3 star review or lower. read more

1. I came to Butter Cafe last Saturday and omg ! This place exceeded my expectations. The food portions were HUGE. 2. I came in and I was craving a cafe de olla but sadly they didn't have it on the menu but I asked if they could custom make one that tasted similar to it and they did. It was so sweet. 3. My friends and I were so impressed we believe it was the owner but he was walking around refilling people's waters and when we were done eating we had the sweetest conversation with him. I have heard a lot about this place, decided to check it out. I wasn't too impressed with it. The most raved avocado toast was not that great, in my opinion. The toast was on like a French toast bread and it was battered in eggs because I could taste the eggs in the toast and on top was another egg with avocado. For me it was too much eggs. I drove 15 minutes in the pouring rain to Butter today. I looked up what time they closed before I left my final errand. "Great, they close at 2pm, I have time!" I pulled up and the door was unlocked. It was 1:57pm. All the lights are off and the chairs are on top of the tables. I asked if I could get a coffee and he said no, that everything was turned off. I showed him the time on my phone and walked out the door. I rarely treat myself to a latte out. I make them at home. Today I was having a bad day and decided to get a bunch of work done, some errands out of the way and then treat myself to a latte at Butter. I can't tell you how many times when our kids had daycare in that same parking lot that I'd spend money here. Weekly. The best customer service. They knew my name, knew the kids orders. I found this place on Yelp and decided to try. I experienced good food and friendly service. The cafe was clean along with the restrooms. I tried the breakfast tacos with vegetables/potatoes and hash browns and do recommend. I also tried the coffee cake and red velvet cheesecake bar. STAY AWAY! My wife and I are currently retired. We visited this location for the first time for breakfast. The omelette and potatoes were totally artificial and dry, no flavor whatsoever. My wife ordered the ham, scrambled eggs with biscuit with gravy; it was the worst we ever had. I will describe it for you: The ham is two slices of sandwich ham and the gravy it seemed like a mixed of mashed potato gravy out of a can or powder mixed, very artificial! And the potatoes, again no taste and very dry. We spent $40 dollars and I only took two bites and my wife just one bite and into trash it went! You be better off at a Macdonald or a Dennys! I just can't believe that this place is still in business. We were highly upset and decided not to escalate the situation. We just went to 42nd street Bagel cafe in Claremont. Enjoyed breakfast there this morning. Limited indoor seating, but plenty of outdoor seating present. We have only tried breakfast entrees and the Latin plates have always been tasty. This morning my husband enjoyed huevos rancheros, and what we appreciate the most is the chorizo did not overwhelm the plate. It was very subtle which is difficult to do with with that type of meat. I enjoyed a chorizo burrito, it was HUGE. The ingredients were fresh and the portion was generous. Their salsa was delicious. The service was nice and the restaurant was tastefully decorated. Love finding a hole in the wall breakfast spot and this place didn't disappoint in flavor. Wanted to try a couple of things so I got the biscuits and gravy and chicken biscuit. The flavor is on point, smell was amazing. The one area I fell that can be improved is the biscuit dough. The biscuits are super dense because the dough has been overworked. Was a bummer because I was really looking forward to a nice flaky biscuit from a bakery. The biscuits are almost a cake/bread consistency which is great if you want the most food for your dollar but they don't work great for soaking up gravy. read more

Butter is hidden in plain sight in a small strip mall? I never heard of the place until today and when we arrived I loved that it had plenty of parking and outdoor seating. The place was busy, but not packed and I'd recommend it for a brunch meet-up with friends. I ordered the French toast and got it tiramisu style for an extra $2.00 and added a side of scrambled eggs. I had a 16 oz. Butterproof (their version of bulletproof) coffee which tasted delicious. My sister ordered avocado toast and the breakfast tacos which came with a side of tater tots. My favorite things from here were definitely the tater tots and the coffee. Sadly the French toast was good quality but it didn't meld with the mascarpone? I was like puzzled! The side of scrambled eggs were a huge disappointment as it definitely came from a bag. The eggs were flat, not fluffy and had a weird taste to them. They're known for their breakfast burritos, but I wouldn't try it if the eggs in a bag were the same eggs that go into the burrito. There's seating in the front and also around back there's benches and tables. Again, great place for an intimate meeting with friends and the tater tots and coffee are excellent. read more

This location has the same menu items but noticed that the level of service is different. We found Butter's not too far from where we were at, so we came here for breakfast. Being our first time here, the two young ladies at the counter were very friendly and helpful explaining the menu and giving us some feedback on the types of coffee they have. We settled for a breakfast burrito and biscuits and gravy of course lol. Both were really good, not sure which one I liked more the Burrito or the biscuits and gravy lol. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito with Turkey Sausage and a Hazelnut Latte. The burrito was soooo good the tater tots inside of the burrito were so deliciously crispy and the salsa they give with it is also really good, I wish they would've given me more of it. The hazelnut latte was ok. It was good but not the best I've had. Regardless I would get and iced latte again but maybe with a different flavor! :) Will be coming back soon! read more

Wow!! I have wanted to try this place for months! I was expecting a little coffee/pastry shop that wasn't too busy! Nope completely the opposite! The place was packed inside and outside on a Sunday morning. They had so many breakfast, lunch and now brunch options!! The pastry display was nice and full but I grabbed the last strawberry ricotta cake! It was delicious the size was definitely shareable! I also ordered the white mocha iced with oatmilk! The drink was good nothing too crazy! My friend ordered the avocado toast which came with potatoes on the side. We absolutely love this place! The food is very good, service may be slower on some days, but my family is always willing to wait! We first heard about this place and went to their San Dimas location. Now we eat at the Upland location and Angel and his crew are the best! Always so welcoming to everyone that walks in! They are very transparent about the wait if they notice the line may be getting longer. Place is clean, spacious, and well lit. Food comes out fresh, and drinks are made to order! Their baked goods are just as delicious and run out fast! My daughter is a big fan of their sprinkle cookie! My husband and I just discovered their blueberry cornmeal cake....BOMB! Their breakfast tacos are delicious, Kalua pork hash is money, loco moco is amazing! This place has definitely become one of our spots for breakfast on the weekend! read more

First time trying this place. Ordered eggs Benedict with a soft yolk and a chicken fried steak and two coffees. The total was $45 which seems excessive considering the paper plates and the quality of the food. The eggs Benedict were over cooked, the hollandaise sauce was runny and the ham burned. I ate one egg benedict before I gave up. The chicken fried steak had too much pepper in the gravy and it was plated like a mess. The eggs and toast were cold and the coffee was bitter. Love this place spend TONS of money here. Family of 5 and eat here 2-3 times a week. Always spend 60-120$. Owner is a very nice man, and having owned a small buisness myself, I truly admire what he has done.
