I am Currently staying in St. Charles for a few weeks. Buttermilk was recommended to me by several co workers. We went on a Tuesday morning about 9:15am. 4 of us total. Hostess was very nice. She sat us immediately outside (we wanted to sit out side) A very nice waitress took our drink orders and walked us through some of the buttermilk specialties. I was very impressed by the amount of options that they had to offer for brunch/breakfast. One item did stand out to me. It was a buttermilk "specialty" it was what they called an Alabama eggs Benedict. Being from Alabama I was intrigued. It is a piece of hot chicken, on a biscuit covered in white BBQ sauce. Doesn't sound like a bad meal, but it is most certainly not an Alabama dish. I ended up having the classic eggs Benedict along with the cinnamon roll pancake. The eggs Benedict was done very well. They did a great job with it. It wasn't a life changing Benedict, but it was most certainly a good quality Benedict. The cinnamon roll pancake on the other hand, was a life changing experience. It reminded me of the holidays with my family. It was so tasty and fluffy. It was the perfect size and thickness for a pancake. With my Benedict I had a side of the farmhouse potatoes. I get very tired of eating fried potatoes for breakfast. I thought buttermilk's Farmhouse potatoes were a great take on a boring breakfast food. I don't want to eat potatoes for breakfast, but if I have to. I want these farmhouse potatoes. On all of my food, I had great portion sizes. I did not leave hungry. We arrived about 9:15am. And had eaten and were ready to pay at 10am. It was so fast, I feel like a lot of breakfast places take a long time. Not buttermilk. Overall I'm giving Buttermilk an 8.5/10. The things I would like to see 1. Offer fresh hot syrup with pancakes instead of smuckers processed syrup. The pancakes are too good for that. 2. I would like to see more Benedict's that have a little bit more of a classic feel. A biscuit with sausage and gravy on it isn't a Benedict. It's a gravy biscuit. 3. I would like to see the Alabama Benedict no long be an Alabama Benedict(person preference) read more

A bit spendy, but worth every penny in my opinion. The stuffed breakfast biscuit is absolutely fantastic!

I love breakfast. I could eat it for every meal. We just moved to the St Charles area at the end of June. I asked for recommendations for breakfast and we came here. I have been here twice now. Both times food was exceptional. I tried the Chorizo Gravy and Eggs. I cannot even tell you how wonderful it was. So filling and delicious. I couldn't finish it. I had to bring the leftovers home. Even reheated, it was awesome. My second visit I tried the omlet with sausage gravy in top. Again, amazing food. Both times place was packed, but we didn't wait more than 10 minutes. Buttermilk looks cool, has great food and great service. You can't ask for more than that for a breakfast joint! I love how roomy the facility feels. It has vaulted ceilings, black and white decor and plenty of room to sit, if you are at a booth. I did notice that some of the tables are crammed in there, which made it hard to walk by someone without knocking them in the head with your butt or purse (i.e., if "baby got back," you best be careful when you walk between the tables!). Also, the place was a little chilly for my taste, even though it was a hot day. Some mama advice: bring a sweater. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I asked her how the ham/cheese crepes were and she gushed over how awesome they are. This helped me decide on the crepes over my other choice - the ever-popular stuffed biscuit platter (which looks amazing!). Next time. My crepes came to me without hollandaise sauce, but my waitress quickly fixed that by running it back to the kitchen. The dish consisted of 2 pretty large crepes, filled with large chunks of ham and gruyere cheese (inside AND on top), and drizzled with hollandaise sauce. The crepes were light and sweet and the ham was good-quality, real butcher block ham....not rubbery squares form a can! I ordered a side of biscuits. They are coated in honey butter - sweet and delicious. The jam and whipped butter were a nice touch. Will get these again! I NEED more. My husband got the prime rib skillet, which is basically a bunch of roasted veggies and potatoes, with slices of prime rib and gravy on top. It also came with sides. A LOT of food. He liked it, but said he wouldn't get it again. It was more of a dinner than a breakfast if you ask me. The small fresh-squeezed OJ was $3.99! - but you have to expect that when you eat out. It didn't taste like it came from a can, and so that's worth the $3.99 to me. I will be back again for that stuffed biscuit meal! I NEED! read more

They have two tents in the parking lot open right now. Two of us came around 11am on a Saturday and didn't have to wait to be seated. We got a bubble basket of mimosas with the strawberry orange juice and plain orange juice and then we both got pancakes with sausage links. Everything was awesomely delicious! If you're looking for something sweet I would suggest the cinnamon roll pancakes, they were my favorite dish of the meal. The pancakes are so fluffy, and take up the whole plate. I could only finish half of a short stack. They have a great selection of other brunch options as well and everyone's food around us looked awesome as well. Let me just preference that you should fast before you come here and put your name on the waitlist as soon as it opens because Sunday wait can be up to an hour and half. My boyfriend and I came to Geneva for a "staycation" and were staying across the street. We luckily viewed Yelp before going because we were able to put our name in and not wait in the heat. When we arrived we still had another 30 minutes but honestly it was worth every minute. While waiting, we grabbed a Bellini and an ice coffee at the bar. Once we got seated we were promptly greeted and asked what we would want. We honestly studied the menu during our wait so we were eager to order. I ordered the omelet with a substitute special pancake which was chocolate, graham cracker crumble, banana, and whipped cream. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib skillet with a substitute special pancake that had a raspberry compote with creamy syrup. (Not technical food terms-I just forget the names on the menu) Requested from my boyfriend: "these are the best pancakes I have ever had in my life. I want to be buried with them when I die." I'll start by saying the food is delicious and the serving sizes are ample. It's always busy, so use Yelp to put yourself on the waitlist. (I love that convenience.) My two biggest issues are price and ambiance. Two of us went last week. We ordered the Biscuits & Gravy (no eggs), a short stack of fancy pancakes and two lattes. It cost $50. For breakfast. No sides of meat, no cocktails. That's crazy. The service is good. They're very efficient. They want to turnover the tables quickly. Waitstaff isn't overly friendly but they're good at their jobs. Finally, the ambiance is cute but the tables are very close together and it's loud. The ceilings are very high and I think it causes an echo. I've tried it multiple times since it opened. I love to see a local business thriving but it's probably my least favorite breakfast place. The food is really good though. read more

Buttermilk capitalizes on the farmhouse chic trend to the delight of many diners, but there are a few notable misses when it comes to the food. We ordered the Chicken N' Biscuits and the Corned Beef Skillet. The chicken was very dry. As one of the signature components, the chicken's dryness really set the dish back, and no amount of gravy could salvage it. The Corned Beef Skillet looked very promising (as did the Chicken N' Biscuits), but a few bites in, I was left wanting more. It lacked flavor. I quickly reached for the salt and pepper, which I very rarely do. To its credit, the skillet did have very generous portions of corned beef. I got the namesake buttermilk pancakes with my skillet, and thankfully, those were good. However, reflective of the inconsistency of our meal, my wife's strawberry orange juice was bitter. There's a lot of hype about the restaurant, which leads to heightened expectations. At least for us, those expectations weren't met. I got the chia breakfast bowl ($13) which consists of chia pudding, coconut flakes, toasted almond, pumpkin seeds, blueberries and banana. It was really good---fresh, healthy and not sweet at all. The portion size is large and good enough for two meals. I also had a cappuccino with almond milk ($4). Fortunately, Buttermilk has unsweetened Silk almond milk (not my favorite brand, but at least it wasn't sugared). This was a solid cappuccino. If Buttermilk had more---and more interesting---vegan options (how about pancakes or waffles? Or a tofu breakfast sandwich?) I'd give it another star. Be warned that this place gets super busy on the weekends. Expect to wait for a table. read more

This place always gets it right. I've never tried anything bad here and when I go I always get something different. I like all of the skillets even the spicy ones! The crepes are fantastic! The French toast is good too! The mocha drink is delicious I always have to get it when we go! The staff is always very friendly and makes you feel welcome! Came here on St. Patty's and expected it to be slammed. It was busy but not too bad. I was able to use the Yelp app to get on the waitlist! (Super convenient by the way I love that!) We literally waited about 10 minutes after arriving. You are able to order a drink while you wait at the front counter. We ordered mimosas & a Chai Latte. Our server's name was Cheryl and she gave us great recommendations. She was very attentive and fun! I ordered the Alabama Hot Chicken Benny. Try it, it's delicious! I will say its not too spicy at all I could barely taste the pepper jelly, so don't let that scare you. It was a huge portion and was very filling. So delicious! Wait was about 35 minutes on a Saturday morning around 11am. They have a good system for checking in early though using Yelp. It worked perfectly for us. I had a Mountain House skillet with bacon, mushrooms, carmelized onions, spinach. It was tasty but didn't hold together well. Could have used potatoes or more eggs as a base. I also had the pancakes which were delicious. My wife had the French Toast which was a bit boring but good. Service was solid but unspectacular. Buttermilk is right at the top of our favorite breakfast restaurants in the area. Each time we've been here, we are always impressed with the quality of our food as well as the excellent service provided by the staff. The coffee is very good here, and they offer fresh cream on the side which I prefer over the mini creamer cups. The restaurant is also very modern and clean inside. One of the best breakfast place in town. The food it's very good and not greasy at all.

My girlfriend took me here for brunch for the first time. The restaurant itself was cute and clean inside with white being the main color throughout. For brunch, I got the Alabama Hot Chicken Benny and it was the perfect mixture of savory and slightly sweet. The benny consisted of a piece of fried chicken covered in a barbecue sauce, an over easy egg, and a pickle, all of which sat on top of a fluffy and flaky biscuit. The benedict came with a side of crisp potato cubes. My girlfriend got the Three Milk French Toast, which is the restaurants take on the classic Tres Leches cake. The french toast was deliciously sweet and slightly moist. It was topped with coconut flakes and condensed milk.
