Came here on Saturday lunch-ish time, and we got seated right away! So happy! There is free parking right in front of the restaurant but the lot is small. But we were able to find parking no problem. I ordered the eggs benny with Korean braised short rib. This is soooooo delicious. It's savoury and with a subtle hint of sweetness. It's just the perfect combination. You have options for sides but I chose rice. The meat is soft and they give a generous portion of it. I can't finish the plate, so it's definitely worth the $18! My friend and my BIL also ordered the eggs benny with Korean braised short rib but with tater tots instead. And to finish the meal, they ordered stuffed strawberry cheesecake french toast. The island of Oahu has an array of tasty food options. I can see how tough it can be to stand out amongst the competition. Especially living about 20 min away, it would make sense to eat at a closer brunch spot. However, after my wife and I visited, I can say without hesitation that I'd make that drive down to Button Up Cafe any day. First off, it's a small space having only 4 four-seater tables. The turn around per party is pretty fast though, as they push out their food and hungry diners are quick to tackle their meal happily satisfied. We arrived mid morning on a Sunday and although there were three parties ahead of us, we didn't wait long at all to be seated. Their menu is relatively small and we already knew what we were going to order. Instead of having a waiter or waitress take your order, you simply go up to the register, order and pay right there. One thing I wanted to note is that the person taking our order didn't have the best of attitudes which was surprising considering how great of a reputation this place had. Granted I did order two bottles of water and as she put the order in, my wife asked to cancel that because she brought her hydro. She did have to go through a small process of cancelling that to which I apologized for. Her tone with her instruction with the payment method as well as her "Thank You" was very standoff-ish and didn't feel sincere. I still tipped 20% because of the inconvenience I put her through, but making your customers feel welcomed goes a long way. Despite all that, the food more than made up for it! We ordered the Braised Short Ribs Loco Moco, Corn Beef Hash Eggs Benny, and the Stuffed Ube Cheesecake French Toast. I had the braised short ribs Loco moco and every bite was absolutely delicious! The gravy was rich and the short ribs were tender. My wife seemed to love her corn beef hash benny along with a side of tater tots. My favorite though, was the Ube French toast. My sweet tooth enjoyed every bite as the bread, despite it looking like a Minecraft block, was very light. Also underneath all of that whipped cream was pastry cream as well! Each bite was as good as the first. We both left with happy tummies. This was our (two) first time at this restaurant. There's a paper & pen on a table outside for you to put yourself on a waitlist. We arrived around 9:30am on a Saturday and there was a line. There's a menu posted outside, so you can browse while you wait. The seating area indoors is very small. Maybe 7 tables? We had lots to do that day so when we were offered the two seats at the "bar" area, we took it. It was cramped but we made it work. You need to order at the counter, pay, then have a seat. It's a tiny hole in the wall mom and pop shop with very limited seating but trust me- put your name on the list and be patient because the food is just that good. Staff here were so sweet from the front desk to the cooks, it def gave a welcoming feeling. We got seated probably within 20 minutes of putting our names on the list for a group of 5. We came to celebrate a friends birthday and the food they had here was perfect for any occasion. Once you're seated you figure out what you want to eat and go order and pay. The quality of the crispy bacon is up there with some of the best I've had. The tater tots were crispy and not greasy. I only wish they added pancakes to their menu. First time here. We ordered the original Loco Moco and braised rib Loco Moco. Both had a lot of flavor and the plates were hearty! My husband did say that the braised rib was a little on the sweeter side. He prefers not so sweet. One other thing, I asked for over easy eggs and it was more over medium. All in all the food was good. I noticed that on the reviews the Benedict's there are good so I will try that next time. And there will be a next time. The service was great, very friendly. The place is small so just be prepared, fortunately people move in and out quickly. You probably don't want to bring a huge party with you, I think the tables seat 2 to 4 people and there's six tables and a window bar where you can sit. But you can always take out! read more

This little hole in the wall is absolutely adorable! I had no idea it was there, but a friend who lives in Pearl City said we needed to check it out one morning. So we did. The menu is absolutely fabulous and there are quite a few breakfast and lunch options. We got there at opening and got a table, and I definitely recommend getting there early because the weight will be quite long if you don't. We ordered the strawberry French toast, the short rib, eggs, Benedict, and the kalua hash Benedict. With the hash, we ordered hashbrowns, but they were not hashbrowns, they were home fries. Very misleading, or a misunderstanding about what we were ordering. The potatoes were, cubed and deep fried, so they were nice and crispy, but not the hashbrowns that we were expecting. The strawberry French toast was extra thick, sweet bread with freshly sliced strawberries. It could've been stuffed and been more fabulous, but it was pretty good on its own. Lots of carbs. The short rib Benedict was where it's at!!!! The short ribs were marinated in a Korean style sauce and beautifully braised. The meat just fell apart. The English muffin was buttered and toasted, just like it should be (but isn't at other places). They could have been a little more generous with the hollandaise sauce, but everything else was perfect about it. The egg was beautifully poached and soft in the center. I would definitely go back again, and bring family and friends, but again, you have to get there early! My one disappointment, which is the reason for the four stars is that I asked for a to go box so I could bring half of my breakfast home. The portions are huge, so this cannot be an unusual request. Also, they do to go orders, so I saw to go boxes. Instead of giving me a to go box for the $65 + of breakfast I had just ordered, they directed me to sheets of foil to put on top of the flimsy paper plate that my food was served on. The foil sheets pretty much ripped in half when you try to get them out of the box . This resulted in a mess because the foil is not large enough to cover the plate, and the plate itself was already falling apart due to the moisture in the food. They could've just given me a to go box for the amount of money I spent on breakfast. The fact that they were being cheap about that annoys me. read more

This place came highly recommended by my cousins. They said I must get the Korean Braised Short Rib Eggs Benny with tater tots, so what did I do? I got exactly that. This may have been one of the heaviest breakfasts I've gotten! Such rich flavors, the short rib came right off. It was so delicious. And the tater tots were crisped to perfection. Button Up Cafe has been on my radar for awhile now but I don't usually eat breakfast. I certainly don't journey to Pearl City to eat breakfast. Since Mink mentioned she wanted to try this place out one day, I kept that in mind. Fast forward to Valentine's Day and I made the journey to take Mink there for breakfast. Button Up Cafe is located inside Pearl City Plaza. Their parking stalls are tight and they are usually pretty full. Once you park, you head to the front door to sign in with your name and size of your party. Everyone needs to be present to be seated. Then comes the wait... We waited about 45 minutes before being seated. While waiting, we were able to see how busy they are! They only have 4 tables inside that seats up to 4 people per table. Condiments are on each table for you to help yourself. There is some seating along the front window as we saw chairs but no one was seated there. It would be incredibly cramped in that area if anyone did sit there. They had a ton of to go orders. We also noticed you make your order at the cash register before you sit on your table. If you order drinks, you help yourself. Since we decided on what to order while waiting outside, we went straight to the cash register to order after our name was called. Our cashier/server was very friendly and nice. I ordered their Corn Beef Hash Eggs Benny w/Tater Tots and Stuffed Ube French Toast for Mink. Since it was really chilly outside due to the rain and wind, I got us a hot coffee. The kitchen got our food out super quick. Both of us really enjoyed our meals. I liked how perfectly fried and tasty my tater tots were. The eggs were perfectly prepared as the yolk just oozed all over after cutting into them. Mink said her meal was better than she expected and wants to try the Nutella next time. This is an excellent option for breakfast in Pearl City. It's worth the journey if you like breakfast. Since the line of people waiting was constant there, we tried to eat as fast as we could. I was able to finish my order but Mink only could eat half. If you can't finish your order, they have aluminum sheets near the cash register to cover up your meal to go. All orders are served on paper plates so you can take them with you if you don't finish. It also saves them from doing dishes. Quite smart! There is a trash bin by the door where you dispose of your cups, plates, napkins and utensils. I would definitely be open to come back again. In the area and wanted to grab breakfast before heading off to the airport. Found this place via Yelp and very happy it pointed me here. Located in a little strip mall. There's tight parking in front, but there is a lot in the back. I was lucky and got a spot right up front. Stepped up and there is a table where you write your name for a table. There's only 4 tables (and a few stools at the window bar), so I figured it would be a while. That's okay, because that gave me time to study the menu. We lucked out and got a table faster than we expected. You place your order at the register and pay and they bring the food out to you when ready. I was very tempted to try the French Toast with the mountain of whip cream on top, but my go to breakfast is Corn Beef Hash. So I opted for the Eggs Benny Corn Beef Hash with Fried Rice. And it was Delicious. This isn't your canned Corn Beef Hash (not that I mind that), but real Corn Beef. The Hollandaise sauce is tasty and the fried rice was savory.
