I like Buzz Inn Steak House. This particular location is pretty nice inside, more updated and better decor than other Buzz Inns that I've been to. The food is good and the prices are cheap. Breakfast is served all day, which is great. The only thing was...our server at this location was pretty horrible. Her name was Terri, and after being seated, we sat there for about 15 minutes before the host asked us if our server had come yet...we said no, and so she had to go tell our server she had a table...After she came, it took another 5 minutes for her to bring us our waters. (Note...this was not a busy night...we were her only table and we watched her wander around the restaurant like she didn't know what to do.) She then went outside the restaurant to smoke, and so the host had to bring us our food since it was ready and Terri hadn't come back in yet. We had to ask another waitress for refills on water because our server was nowhere to be seen. She also rang up our bill wrong, so we had to stand around for another 5-10 minutes for her to get help correcting it. I can't judge the restaurant though for one bad server, because it was clear that everyone else working there was on top of their game, and giving good service to all the customers. read more

BEWARE....This place should be closed down!!!! I GOT FOOD POISONING!!!! I visited this place on a slow Sunday evening. I ordered the meat loaf sandwich. When it came it was far from a sandwich. It was served on top of several pieces of old bread and just covered with a really dark thick gravy! Came with mash potatoes and no veggies of any kind. Not even a garnish. Had a very truck stop feel... Our waitress was a middle aged woman with short hair who hated her life or something. She was very rude and forgetful. She wasn't good about refills on beverages or asking how our meal was or even if we needed anything. After waiting forever for the waitress to come back we finally got up and started walking toward the front counter for anyone to help us. As we. So, we saw this place while we were driving, and thought it would be nice to try something new. This place sucks! The old hag that they had as a hostess was so bitter and angry. I felt sorry for her because it looked like she was in pain while she walked, but she was so rude, my empathy faded quickly. She didn't ask us anything or say hello. She took us to a table, and I asked if she had any booths. She said no, and I said, well that's funny because I just saw a bunch open when we walked in. She said, no, you didn't. Then she was like, well there might be one. They must've just cleaned it off. Then I said, well you just said there were none. So of course, she took us back to one of the open booths that I had seen when we walked in. Then there were also 3 open booths in the area right next to it. The only reason I gave this place two stars is because the waitress was wonderful and the prices were affordable. Other than that the food was just ok, nothing to write home about. I definitely will never go back to this place again. I think the rude, old, bitter, dyed red-headed hostess needs a job in the back of the restaurant washing dishes, nothing to do with interacting with people. Kielbasa warning...in the last month, I ate at this Buzz Inn twice and got sick for about 5 hours afterward both times. I even visited the doctor the first time... It wasn't until the 2nd time that I realized that it was the Kielbasa because it was the second time I had eaten it in a row and my friend had it as well. We both got sick afterward. I called Buzz Inn to let them know that they had an issue with the Kielbasa and after a week (to be fair it was the holidays) I got a call back from the kitchen manager. The manager was very nice and candidly admitted that it was possible that they were mishandling the Kielbasa and was concerned enough to make some changes. He also told me that his boss would call me and take care of the matter. Well....almost two weeks later I received no call. Today, I called back to ask if she had received notice about the Kielbasa and she said that she had...To be honest she could have cared less or at least that is the way she came across. Very nonchalant. Maybe that Buzz Inn has been scammed by multiple paying customers lately, I don't know. But...When someone explains that you were sick for hours multiple times after eating there, they need to show concern. It's a shame because the staff are very nice that work there. I just can't go anymore and whoever is reading this needs to consider the risk as well. I'm so over the buzz inn in Smokey Point. Every time I go there I get it togo bc my wife loves their chicken fried steak and they mess up our order. It's been over 5 times now that they have messed up. Shit one time I called my the order and they never turned it in to the kitchen so I got to wait 45mins for my stuff nice I got there and they also forgot an item. Wasn't expecting much as stopped in on the way to seeing tulips in Mt. Vernon, and on account some poor reviews. We were however pleasantly surprised - the boneless ribeye steak I ordered was perfectly cooked to medium rare as requested, and had just the right amount of char on the outside to make the steak extra flavorful. It came with au jus which exceptionally enhanced the taste of the steak... The cut also proved to be very tender. The side of fries was wonderfully crispy as well. Had a bowl of chili which was scrumptious as well. Clam chowder and side salad were nothing too special. Nice casual local spot, friendly efficient service, and you order first up at the counter. It's a pretty good option if your headed up or down the 5 freeway - don't know how the rest of the menu pans out (lots of breakfast selection), but added one star just for the flavorful steak. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Been here many times over the past few years, but as of the last few months this location has turned to trash. The food always comes out wrong, cold, and gross. Today I got an Eggs Benedict togo and the hollandaise was completely broken, the eggs were over cooked, english muffin was soggy even though it had no sauce on it, bacon was the only "okay" part of my meal. My food was so gross I couldn't even force myself to to eat it and threw it straight into the trash. My boyfriend's food was also completely soggy and his eggs were way overcooked as well. When we were in there, everyone but 1 bartender (who I assumed was the manager) gave us attitude and were rude to my boyfriend and me. I also got a glass of apple juice while we waited for our order which had gross stuff floating around the bottom of my glass, which unfortunately I didn't notice until I was already 2/3 of the way done with it. When I brought it to the attention of one of the servers she even said "gross", and said she would see if she could do something for me since I did not want another glass. When she returned, she said "my manager said thats how the juice always comes". I've had apple juice from here before and NEVER had that problem, which leads me to believe they never clean the juice dispenser. This isn't the only time we have had service like this either. I am a server, so I understand how hard it can be when you are busy and short staffed, but that does not excuse any of the way we were treated. This place has gone so far downhill, and we will never be back to this location. read more

We had an amazing experience last night at the buzz inn in smokey point. It was a special occasions 2 birthdays. We had gone every year previously for the past 5 years and had average or subpar service and just ok meals. This time not only was the food fantastic but the service was phenomenal. Our server Donna was so personable and even let us know about the birthday deal. She was expedient and very professional. My wife and I visited this location after a day out. It was pretty slow so I figured it would be a good time to go. We walked in what may have been a back door and decided to find the bar. After entering the bar we noticed the bar top was full of dirty dishes in at least 4 spits...there were 4 guests seated at the bar and the bartender was talking to them. We sat less than 5 feet feom the bartender thinking she would see us and at least acknowledge we were there. NOPE. She just kept talking to the other people and laughing. After about 4 minutes my wife was getting upset that she was not even looking our way...EVEN THE GUYS SHE WAS TALKING TO SAW US. We stood up and walked out the bar and decided we would never come back. I have heard other things about buzz inn but people on yelp can be pretty brutal so I wanted to be open minded when I went there. I think your bad reviews are a reflection of a culture where your employees really dont care about the business but collecting a check. This is horrible because I know it would have been completely different if the owner walked in for service. Customers decide what restaurants stay open and which ones close. I dont fault buzz inn for the behavior of this bartender...but we can't spend our money in a place where we dont feel like they want to even serve us. We were totally Disappointed! First the staff were underwhelming, not very friendly. Coffee tasted watered down. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were hard like hockey pucks, Bacon wasn't cooked right was too chewy, English muffin wasn't even toasted, I think the just plopped in on the grill with some grease. I was in Arlington with my boyfriend and we got snowed in. The buzz inn was right next to the hotel so we had dinner and breakfast there. The staff was so awesome, friendly and the food was delicious. Best of all, when there was a problem in the kitchen, they not only told us ahead of time there would be a longer wait, they comped us for breakfast and we got a free meal. It was wonderful. If you have never been to a Buzz Inn Steak House you should go once. And then never go again. The food is OK and the prices are fair. It's basically a truck stop dinner. The food is mostly fired. The decor of this location is dark and seems run down and dirty. I've been to better locations, but over all its just not the kind of place I'd go unless there were no other choices or if I just really wanted to kill myself slowly using deep fried food products. read more

Ok, I had been here a few times long ago and had vowed to not return. After a day in Arlington I was passing by and got a strong desire for steak, I shrugged my shoulders and gave in. Upon entering I was advised that I would be seated, you used to order at the counter and get your own drink yada yada. So I place my order for my steak and potatoes which were brought to me in a very timely mannor. Upon slicing into my steak I noticed that it was VERY rare (I had ordered medium rare). Now after being initially impressed, I am thinking, here we go again. I get the waitresses attention and ask for a refire. She takes it and after a short absence it comes back and is perfect. No drama no defencive glances from the kitchen. Food ended up perfect, waitress was outstanding and professional. For me it isnt necessarily how you start but how you finish. I decided to treat my friend for lunch as she was driving me to the doctor's office. The building is clean inside and nicely appointed with a large lounge area. I am thinking this place must have a happening bar crowd. We walked up to the desk and was greeted by a nice women. As we looked at menu on wall and I tried to look at menu over my friends shoulder, I realized that we must be ordering right here right now. I would have preferred to sit down, look at menu and then order. We ordered. The hostess/waitress told me the meatloaf is fresh and home made, the Philly cheesesteak is fresh sliced ribeye and the pastrami was fresh. I got the pastrami on rye with tomato soup and my friend got a BLT with fries. I tipped over 20% because I didn't know what else to do?! She served us our coffee and water even though I think we do it ourselves and our food was good. Everything seemed fresh. I would be back. Sorry to see such bad reviews. I would say, if it was the last restaurant on earth and you were starving, hold out someone may be on the verge of opening up a new eatery. My wife and I were heading to a meeting and had not eaten that morning. We had about 30 minutes to kill, so we...wait my wife will deny she was part of the decision process even though she was driving...decided to stop in at the Buzz-Inn for a late breakfast. Our experience started when we walked in, we were a little confused by how the restaurant works. Apparently Buzz-Inn aficionados know to go directly to the counter and order your food and then you seat yourself. No directions in plain sight to this wrinkle. So it is sort of like going to a smorgasbord, pay first then eat later. Although I rarely ever go to a buffet for a multitude of reasons, the buffet could probably be a step up from this place. So I order my meal of steak and eggs (usually don't eat meat but I was living on the edge that day) and my wife orders oatmeal, I get coffee she gets water. Almost $30.00 I am thinking wholly cow, I must be getting a breakfast steak from a Holy Cow and probably golden eggs from that damn goose in the children's fables. My wife's oatmeal must be something special too; assuredly it has probably been the past winner of the Golden Spurtle at the World Porridge and Gruel Championships in Carrbridge, Cairngorms, Scotland. It's a real thing, you can google it. Plus I had to get my own coffee and my wife her water. Our meal came and my wife and I thought it was just the appetizer. Her oatmeal was nothing special kind of like what one gets at Starbucks (only worse) and about the same size. The waitress was very nice and informed us that they had run out of raisins. I was thinking, wow they must have had a huge rush on their oatmeal orders because nothing else on the menu uses raisins. My wife did get some hard brown sugar which truly equaled half the amount of oatmeal she had. That was enough sugar to throw her into diabetic coma. Though a meager portion, the oatmeal was fair. My meal was cooked, lifeless, and bland. Now granted most people like their food lifeless before they eat it. If I am going to eat meat, I want it rare. When I say rare, I want a slab of cow that could be brought back to life by a really good veterinarian. I also like it to have at least a little salt and pepper on it. Well no such luck for me. The only bloody thing I probably could have gotten in the restaurant was a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary may have been the best choice for me though. It at least would have made me feel more at home in this dive and knocked the edge off. My wife and I had to endure Jerry Frigging Springer on every TV in the place. This is advertised as a family restaurant, I don't even watch Jerry Springer at home Pete's sake. I feel it is assisting in the de-evolution [not a real word] of the human brain and our society. What a dump and shame on the management for letting it happen. Needless to say, I would rather gnaw on my own arm if I was hungry than return to this place. read more

I always order the French Choice and my husband loves their Eggs Benedict, their Logger's Special, Meat Lover's Omelet... the list goes on. My husband and I went here for our38th Anniversary on Sep 10th. The staff was great and that's where it ended. We first went into the bar and ordered cocktails. They were so weak that I really doubt there was any alcohol in them. He ordered a Manhattan first and then switched to a scotch and water. The Manhattan was shaken which you do not do. He then switched to scotch and water. I do not like scotch but it was so weak I could drink it. The water tasted so bad that because of it if you ordered a drink that had ice or water it was bad. When we moved to the dining room we ordered the same thing. We had the New York with baked potato and clam chowder. He ordered a beer and I ordered wine because they can't mess those up. The clam chowder was so bad he couldn't eat it and I was able to choke down about a quarter of it. It was so thick the spoon stood straight up without being held. When they brought the steaks out the potatoes where Luke warm. They would not melt the butter. The Texas toast that came with it was cold. The steak was delicious. It was cooked perfect and seasoned well. We have tried this place for other meals and have not been satisfied.
