This is my favorite ride in Disney. I love it so much that I try and ride it over and over. Plus you don't have to use glasses for this one which is even better. The way to get the most points is to know or find the hidden targets that are worth a lot more points than normal targets . I am not sure if you can find them on the internet to try and cheat. heheh. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is located at the Tomorrowland section of Disneyland. It opened on November 11, 2005 and is an interactive shooting ride. There is also a similar ride at Disney World. There are two seats per ride and you compete with each other shooting the Z targets along the ride path. The cruiser itself spins so you can shoot all around. This is fun ride because it is so competitive, interactive and fun. Using the Disneyland app helps navigate where to find this on the map. I never find this ride too busy but it is popular. I find it fun because it is an interactive game! I like that you can get a grainy picture once you are off the ride. I want to go on this over and over again to find the hidden targets. This is a slow ride that spins a bit, it is dark and can be loud. It is definitely worth checking out! read more

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is one of those rides that I never rush to ride, but always have a blast when I do. It is located in Tomorrowland, across from Star Tours! Traveling around the Galaxy fighting Emperor Zurg and his minions - its a 2 seater vehicle where you have a blaster gun for shooting at targets to get points. The 2 seater also has a joystick for spinning the vehicle as well. FYI - the targets are worth more points if they are lit up or higher and harder to shoot! They take your photo at some point during the ride that you can view once you get off too - its always fun seeing what you and your family look like when you're concentrating on shooting! I recommend this ride if you and your family like to compete against each other - we always like seeing who can rack up the most points! read more

We went on the ride twice since as soon as we were done on the ride we got out and went again for a second time. It was great since Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters was not busy. This is the OG shooting/moving game at Disney. I loved going on this at a teenager when it came out and 10+ years alter I still love going on this. Now I get to see my kids ride this and they love it. I also like how they give you the option to email your picture to you. Hub's one wish was to ride one attraction with Bud. Originally kiddo said Toy Story but... life happens. So when we came back to the park at 8 pm both guys rode this interactive totally immersive ride together and hubs was satisfied. Sweetie planned to ride Little Mermaid with him but ended up with her dad. Don't worry be happy hubs ...you have your last chance today, our 3 rd and last day to ride with her. I love everything about this attraction! Sadly, since they got rid of fast passes sometimes the wait can be quite long (outside) in the sun. But once you walk inside, get seated onto your cart enjoy enjoy enjoy. I've heard said that the lighted targets are worth more points, unfortunately, I've never been able to confirm this fact for myself. :-) Don't forget to look for your picture as you exit the attraction and walk into the "Store Command". 4++ This ride is obviously geared towards the young ones, but as adults, I could be a fun way to get off your feet and/or get your competitive juices going and compete for score against a friend or partner. This ride feels like you're cruising through the galaxy (or a toy store designed as the galaxy) and you shoot targets on aliens and other surroundnings. A very similar vibe to the Spiderman ride at Avengers Campus. I went on a recent trip with other adult friends (it was the shortest lightning pass line at the time) and thought it was fun to compete with them, but I wish I was able to go with one of my nieces and see their enjoyment of it. I feel like it's one of those rides where it would be fun to experience it through the eyes of a young one. read more

My son's favorite ride, and for good reason. The ride is so much fun; you get to shoot at little targets for points that are scattered all throughout, and it is all Buzz Lightyear themed, so it is even more fun, especially if your little ones love Buzz. Buzz Lightyear is a Disneyland classic. I have been lucky enough to go to all the global parks and I do have to say versions in Shanghai and also Hong Kong (theirs is Ant Man and the Wasp!) use technology and digital targets for an upgrade which creates a more exciting and different experience. However the charm and nostalgia that this game offers will always make it a Disney original. The blasters and ride apparatus could use for an upgrade, they don't seem to hit the targets as well as they used to but you can't beat that great music when inside the ride as you're battling Emperor Zurg! Hey, guys, look! It's the real Buzz Lightyear! I was fortunate to encounter him on my most recent visit to Star Command! Apparently the evil emperor Zerg was stealing crystolic fusion cells and they needed my help. As a recruit space ranger, I was assigned one of their smaller attack ships with a single laser. However I was able to take advantage of my training to inflict maximum damage on the enemy. The key to victory was focusing on their weak points! Fortunately my HUD highlighted several good opportunities to score critical hits. Star Command appreciated my efforts as I was promoted to space commander after the battle! I've heard I will lead a small detachment of forces on our next engagement. Five stars! read more

Another classic is the Buzz Lightyear, but unfortunately Buzz was not speaking today and neither was etcha sketch being my husband's first time, it sucks he didnt get to experience all of this attraction. The one at California Adventure is definitely better but it is still a fun attraction ride for all ages! Not updated and feels like it went rather quickly! You get your score tally right in front of you and a picture is taken during the ride that you are able to send to yourself at the end of the ride before heading into the merchant store. read more

The only negative thing I can say about Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is that it's not as good as Toy Story Midway Mania!, its slightly newer counterpart in California Adventure. It's a great ride, fun for the whole family--no height requirement, so your babies can join, too. Astro Blasters opened in 2005, and I remember riding it around then, when I was in college. I went back a couple weeks ago, almost twenty years later, with my two little children in tow. We spent two days at Disneyland and went on Astro Blasters both days, once with a Lightning Lane pass and once just because there was almost no line. It seems like you can slot this ride into your day pretty easily. Like Toy Story Midway Mania!, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is a Toy Story-themed dark ride and shooting game, where you hop on a moving vehicle and point laser guns at various targets, racking up points as you go. You battle a robot/alien army, moving from scene to scene until the final confrontation with Zurg himself. Our family fit snugly in one vehicle with our four-year-old and two-year-old in our laps. Leo B. and I somehow beat Daddy and Baby Wade 139,700 to 7,700 on the first go, only to lose 18,000 to 28,400 the next day. None of us figured out how to hit the targets with much more than random accuracy. (The shooting mechanism was easier on Midway Mania!, for what it's worth.) I did appreciate the photos from the ride, which we were able to email to ourselves for free. They included our scores, along with funny pictures of our family where I'm closing my eyes against the bright flash (both times) and you can just see the tops of our kids' heads. I wouldn't wait in a long line for Astro Blasters, but it's a fun ride that lets you shoot lasers at aliens and robots. Definitely worth scoping out, doubly so if you have small kids. read more

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is both a dark ride and a shooting gallery. The space pistols attached to the ride are used to shoot laser beams at targets of varying point values as you cruise through different rooms. When the target lights up, you scored some points. At the conclusion of the ride, your points are tallied up to a final score to see if you made Galactic Hero or just a lowly cadet. This ride is fun for both kids and adults. There are lots of flashing neon lights and laser beams while on the ride. They take your photo while on the ride and you can email it to yourself as you depart. Literally, it'll be the end of the night, I'm dead tired and heading to the front to get out of the park and can't wait to get home, and we'll walk by Buzz Lightyear and see the wait is 0 - 5 minutes and someone will say, "Astro Blasters? It's practically walk-on right now." and I will always say yes. It's a laser shooting game for kids, but I'm still trying to get a higher ranking. I've been a Planetary Pilot every time and I want to be a Galactic Hero, but it's virtually impossible unless the ride stops for a period of time and you're able to shoot at the same high target! This is a fun shooter based ride and I love theming as I love Toy Story. Remember to hit the secret target at the end to get that bonus and win against your opponents Iykyk. I figured this out playing against my boyfriend and it was nice to finally win lol. The wait times can be pretty low and I think it's a fun one to do. read more

I get so much childhood nostalgia from Astro Blasters! I've been riding this since I was a kid, and does anyone else remember the TV series Buzz Lightyear: Star Command? THAT is Buzz's origin story, not the 2022 Lightyear movie voiced by Chris Evans, ugh. Anyway, this is the Disneyland equivalent of the Toy Story Midway Mania in California Adventure. You get a ray gun and rack up points by shooting targets. Unlike Toy Story Midway Mania, where it's all digital screens, Astro Blasters is way cooler with all the animatronics. Seeing the giant, lifelike Zurg, all the aliens, and of course Buzz himself, in such larger-than-life forms is rather awe-inspiring, especially from a kid's perspective. Still fun as an adult as when I rode this as a kid! read more

This ride is a Space Ranger's delight. Once inside, the line is themed to get Space Ranges ready to fight Zurg. Star Command then sends two Space Rangers per ship on a journey of zapping targets to ultimately defeat the evil Emperor Zurg. While this is a dark ride, it is filled with bright colors. Attention is pulled to the targets. Use your Astro Blaster a.k.a. lazer to shoot. The more point achieved, the higher your Star Command rank. A list of the points to rankings is towards the end of the ride. A joystick in the center of the console allows riders to adjust where their ship is pointing. There is plenty to shoot even without making adjustments to your position. Sometimes, there are additional targets behind where the ride it pointing your ship. Upon disembarking your ship, there is the option to email a picture of yourself on the ride. Ridders then exit into the Little Green Men Store Command giftshop. read more

This ride is so much better than it's counter part in Disney World, in my opinion. The theming of the queue is amazing and they even have an animatronic buzz telling you what you need to do, in order to save the universe from the evil emperor Zurg, his mortal enemy! The ride itself is a slow moving shooter ride, that you get to hold a blaster and shoot away at all the evil monsters that Zurg has called in to help him take over to world. It is a lot of fun and the design of this ride is awesome, especially the fact that you are able to twist the ride vehicle you are on, 360 degrees over and over, making you be able to shoot any little targets that are behind you, in front of you and on the side of you. Every time you hit a target you get points, and certain targets when they are lit, score you extra points. The ride is a nice little few minutes and it is a great ride to go on and take a break from the Cali heat! I think if you are in Disneyland that you need to hit this ride up at least once or twice, because every ride is different and you can never hit the same target twice because of how many things there are in this ride! read more

The OG of the shooting dark rides at Disneyland. Before Spider-Man, before Toy Story's Midway Mania...there was....Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. This ride opened in 2005, so considering it's 17 years old, it's held up pretty well. The technology is not as good as the aforementioned games but I beat my friend 64k to 29.9k so I don't mind one bit! LOL That being said, take a look at the photo they snapped on the ride. It's pretty wack, so blurry, they need to upgrade the camera for sure. Use a Lightning Lane pass for this and then pass a cool Animatronic Buzz Lightyear figure before hopping aboard your space cruiser. Then shoot away to beat the Evil Emperor Zurg! Your dashboard in front of you keeps an active scoring of your score. And let me tell you, I'm competitive as heck and my hand hurts from all the shooting once I get off the ride. Also, this version is better than the Disney World one as you can lift up your gun! At WDW, it's cemented into the holster so at Disneyland you get a much more wide shooting range. Pro-Tip: You can get points for the same target multiple times. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters I surely will use my Lightning Lane pass for since...why not? It's included in the $20. However waiting more than 20 minutes for it? Nope, not I. P.S. I can't wait for the new origin story of Buzz - Lightyear!!! read more

I finally figured out how to accumulate points. (Don't tell your kids who'll otherwise be 10X ahead of you!) Keep shooting at one target until you've exhausted your digital "pings". Pretty soon your sad little 1,300 score will turn into 22,000 points. You don't win anything for getting more points. Just let your kid come out on top! Everyone wins! read more
