Buzz Light Year's Astro Blasters is a laser-shooting arcade game-style ride fun for all ages. The accuracy isn't as great if you're comparing to Toy Story's Midway Mania, or Spider Man's Web Slingers (the superior of the 3 in my personal opinion), but the line is never all that long, and you can always grab a lightening lane selection usually up until park close! It's a good filler ride while between other rides, or when killing time waiting for a food order pick up. You get inside a cart spaceship and have access to a ray gun where you're going to blast the minions of Zurg - the evil emperor and Buzz's nemesis. In the spaceship, your cart keeps track of the number of points you accumulate when shooting his minions. The accuracy is hit or miss - Ha! Puns included but it's fun. I ride this ride ever time I'm at Disneyland. It's a ride in Tomorrowland Disneyland. I'm horrible at this game. I'm pretty good at this game. I have no idea how I score do high. I kinda shoot and don't really concentrate on my aim. The ride has no height requirement. You hop into a two person space cruiser geared with laser cannon blasters and a shared joystick. The ride moves on a conveyor belt that doesn't stop even for loading/unloading unless you have limited mobility. It moves at a shopping mall escalator pace. The joystick pivots the cruiser. Your mission is to help Buzz stop the evil Emperor Zurg and his robot forces from stealing all the batteries in the Gamma Quadrant.Point your cannon and blast. The targets are hidden everywhere in the screen. At the end of the ride, your points are tallied up and displayed in the cruiser screen and on the bigger shared screen at the end of the ride. We had the lightening lane perks so we were able to just walk right in and on the ride. I will saw the spaceships do look used and abused and could use a revamp. This is a fun ride especially you have someone to compete. It's like a competition inside competition. lol. You will be a Space Ranger fighting Zurg. Two rangers can get on a ship and embark a journey to fight to defeat the evil Zurg. Once the ride starts, it's get dark and there will be bright light. Identify the targets. You can use a joystick to turn your ship and use the Astro blaster to hit the target. The more point you get, the better. We had a fun family contests. The wait time was around 45 mins. I really enjoy the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disneyland. The Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is located in Tomorrowland, directly across from Star Tours. If you arrive at Disneyland as soon as it opens, you can go to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters with little to no wait time. During mid-day on a busy time, like the holidays or summer, typically wait time can be 30+ minutes. Buzz Light Year ride also has fast pass capabilities. This is a interactive dark ride by Disney. When you initially get on the ride, it moves and you must walk quickly to attempt to get onto the Astro Blaster ride. Sometimes the rides will stop depending on the onboarding and offboarding of passengers. The ride can seat 3 people, but there are only 2 blasters per each pod. You can go as a pair of [2] or [1] on each pod. It slowly moves throughout a space as you are buzz light year taking on the evil Emperor Zurg. There are "Z" marked squares, triangles, and diamonds throughout the ride in which you are to hit with your blaster. You'll accrue points through-out the ride. At the end, you'll see which pod individual scores the highest points. It's fun and one of the more enjoyable rides in Disneyland. There is a small wait time compared to a lot of the other rides in Disneyland. I love Astro Blasters, as of late it has become my favorite ride in the park. It's usually one of the first rides I hit as soon as I walk in, you do have to time it right when riding this ride. Try to get there early in the morning or later in the evening because that's usually when the line is either walk on or no more than 5 minutes long. Any other time it seems like the line is super long. Every time I ride I go in with a score in mind that I want to get to sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't but it's so fun trying your hardest to hit the targets and especially the ones that light up (which gives you some major points) and using the joystick to turn around and try to hit as many targets as possible. I've gotten better over time and my highest score was in the 600,000 range that is until most recently when I finally cracked 999,999 and maxed out. It was fun but difficult at the same time and I think most Disney fanatics strive for that when riding this ride so once it happens you kinda have major bragging rights lol. I like the frequent stops too because that allows you to focus on a target and get lots of points lol. It's an amazing ride that I hope sticks around forever and I love the free picture that you can get at the end. Great ride for all ages! read more

There are Fast Pass Machines right outside of this ride for Buzz and for Star Tours. This is a ride in which you shoot a Space Cannon (laser gun). You will enter the Gamma Quadrant which is dark but lit up with so many targets and moving objects everywhere you look! The purpose of this game is to stop Zurg and score as many points as you can! You can see your score as well as the score of the person with you in your XP-40 Star Cruiser. See who can rack up the most points! I love silly shooting games although I don't do too well at them. If you have heard of Nintendo's Duck Hunt... I excelled at that game! I just can't line up the laser and shoot fast enough in this ride. My hands start to ache with all the intense trigger pulling! The perfect time to ride is all the time, but especially when you need a break from the sun! It is a great place to take a load off your feet, too! The line is usually very long, but it seems to be a quicker moving line than on other rides. I totally recommend this ride for kids of all ages, young and not so young! You can never go wrong with Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters at any age! You also get to move your car around so that's always fun especially when you wanna mess with your side passenger. There was barely anyone in line when we got there so we were able to walk right into the car. FYI, you can't bring drinks inside so finish it first or throw it away. There also some hidden targets you have to hits to get 100,000 points if you're looking to get the score of 999,999. There tutorial videos you can watch if you're looking for that. The ride broke down on us twice during the ride so we were able to shoot the laser around. read more

This is one of the rides that always has a long line (luckily we got a fast pass and instantly got in, waited less than 15 minutes on the day we went). It's a dark ride with moving fixtures and animatronics and you use a ray gun to shoot the targets (they move along with the animatronics) and you can turn the cart you're sitting in to face more targets/gimp the other player you're sitting with. There are different values for different targets. I'm not sure how, but I was quadrupled my friend's score and then when we got to the final room with Zurg, he instantly got 40k points. So a lot of it depends on luck. You can also get your images sent to you via email at the end of the ride. The image quality is absolutely dreadful, but it's charming in its own way. I think the Toy Story Midway Mania in Disney California is much more fun with the different variety of games on the screens. read more

This ride always has long lines but it tends to move quickly. There is a fast pass available if you want to avoid the long line. This is an interactive ride where you board a little spaceship (2 people per spaceship) and shoot at the orange targets along the way while controlling the spaceship to accumulate as many points as you can. Depending on your total points, you achieve a certain officer ranking. At the end of the ride, you can see a picture of yourself and your partner with your respective scores on a video screen. Toy Story Mania's slightly lesser cousin. Only comparable to Toy Story Mania due to it being an interactive shooter game and of course Toy Story themed. Both are fun, though I prefer the other one to this one - but my opinion of it doesn't make it any less enjoyable. Basically you're shooting different things with a gun that has a laser pointer. There's many targets to shoot with each one being different point values. There is so many people shooting often the same things, I'm not sure how accurate the score keeping is. I fired on one of the same thing multiple times on target, but it only registered about half. Really though, the point system is meaningless and only really there to brag to the person next to you if you happened to beat them. It's all about the fun here. Kids will love it and the parents will usually find it entertaining as well. This gets a line during busy times, so use caution depending on the time of year and day you go. This is my all time favorite ride! As the years go by I still find that I adore this ride! I love that it's interactive, it's bright, it's fun, and it's seated. I love the colors, and find that it is a much more playful vibe than either Pirates of the Caribbean or Haunted Mansion. I try to get in at least one to two fastpasses with this ride because it tends to always have a huge line, but it's fairly easy to run to when you first get into the park after you've dropped off your items at the lockers. All-in-all I find that I still really enjoy the Buzz Lightyear ride, even if the cameras have become incrdibly aged. read more

This is one of my favorite rides in all of Disneyland park! It's akin to riding through a giant shooting video game, except it's Toy Story themed. There's a version of this same ride on the other coast at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, but the California ride is so much better because you can remove the blasters from the ride like a real gun. (In Florida, you shoot "laser cannons" that are attached to the ride vehicle). You can aim and shoot with much more accuracy (and that means higher scores) in California. The ride has a continuous loading system, meaning it never really stops (like the Haunted Mansion). That translates to shorter wait times and usually shorter lines. Of course, the line gets held up a bit once inside because there's a cool lifelike Buzz Lightyear animatronic that everyone is amazed by and they stop to take photos. This ride has FastPass so use it if you can. This isn't a state of the art ride, it's a little bit crappy with simple cutouts and laser targets. It's also a very loud ride so sometimes I have to stuff napkins in my ears to keep from being deafened by the ruckus. It also is in severe need for refurbishment. The ride vehicles have chipped paint and are so worn out that Disney should be ashamed for the years of neglect that have obviously plagued this attraction. Each target is worth a different amount of points, and targets are worth more when they're lit. Try not to waste time shooting the round targets because they are worth the least amount of points. Instead, aim for the diamonds and the inverted triangles to get maximum scoring potential. If you really want to cheat, look online for high score hacks and get your photo plastered on huge t.v. monitors at the exit. My hubby is super competitive so he gets really upset when I beat him (which I almost always do, hee hee). Pro tip for people with kids: when you exit the ride, stay to the right. If you go left, you exit directly through the gift shop. read more

This is a fun themed ride. I love all of the details you get even just waiting in line. A lot of fun! I usually do pretty well when playing this game, but always lose going up whatever family member I sit near. I really try to get the high scoring targets to try to increase my score. In Florida this ride is always busy when it rains because it is one of the indoor attractions. Here it does not seem to matter as much since the weather seems more consistent. It is conveniently located near Pizza Planet (which I absolutely hated) but still goes along with the theming of the area. This is a great ride for a friendly family competition. While I do not get the highest score, I never get the lowest score in the family. read more

This is one of my favorite rides at Disneyland. I will usually wait in line for this ride while I wait for my first Fast Pass to be active. Each vehicle can hold 2 space rangers with a joystick in the center to rotate the vehicle. I prefer seat 1 (right side as you're facing forward), but most veterans prefer seat 2 (left side). The concept of the ride is simple. Aim and hit the small circle in the middle of the Z targets that are scattered all throughout the ride. I've gotten a lot better at this ride since I bought an annual pass and put in some more practice. One of the best tip to score higher is to know the value of each target. From higher to lower value, you'll want to shoot triangles first, followed by diamonds, squares, then circle targets. Also be sure to hit the targets that are lit up as they will give you bonus points. After finishing your mission, don't forget to look up your ride photo on one of the screens right before you enter the gift shop and send it for free to your email so you can keep track of your scores. read more

If memory serves, I think we got FastPasses for this as all the five kids could ride it. (They were aged 2.5 to 7 years in age.) We got on the ride sometime on Monday, November 19th. I played with the oldest child. I don't remember much about the game. Though I do recall it was easier shooting here versus the equivalent at California Adventure. It was hard to figure out what to shoot as we were moving around the whole time. Placement was key in scoring. I believe the only reason I did well was cuz I was stopped in front of a bullseye that didn't move. Racked up some points that way. I used to adore simple shooting games when I was younger, so this appealed to the kid in me. Fun for all ages. read more

*TAKES YOUR PICTURE* Fun ride. It's always moving like Haunted Mansion so even if the line is long it keeps moving pretty steady. If you're using MaxPass, there are always Fastpasses available for this ride so you can get on and off this ride pretty quickly and move onto something else. It's interactive like Toy Story Mania, but it's way easier on your wrist. I'm not too sure how the accuracy works on this ride because it doesn't always register, or even look like it's shooting where you're aiming. But it's still fun nevertheless. It takes your picture in the part where you're in a tunnel and can't steer your car anymore. I don't like that the picture at the end doesn't just show up on the wall because it gets kind of backed up in that area. You have to look for your picture and then decide if you like it, and then type in your email to get it sent to you. Even then, the quality isn't very good. But to each their own. read more

Getting on the ride is easy. It's a conveyor belt that never stops. The sound and visuals on the ride are starting to feel a bit dated. A bit static. The blasters don't shoot straight. I think some realignment or reprogramming needs to happen. And the devices themselves, as well as the ride cars, are wearing out a bit. Lastly, that fun photo at the end... The one where you get to email yourself... It's always blurry. Come on, it's 2019! My 4 year-old dug it. So, that's cool. One of the BEST rides in the park, but I'm bittersweet because this used to house the most epic ride Disneyland has ever made - ROCKET RODS! Regardless, while a bit dated at this point, BLAB never fails to entertain. Get yourself in your own car, grab your laser gun, and start shooting. Myself, being a certified champion on this game, will provide some helpful hints for achieving high scores like me (I MAX out the scoring almost every time) 1. ONLY aim for Diamonds and Triangles. Then squares if those aren't available. 2. Different targets are only shootable from certain ranges, so keep that in mind. 3. When you find a solid target, keep shooting. 4. Quite possibly my new favorite ride in Disneyland! This is very similar to Toy Story Mania in Disney's California Adventure, but better for all ages since the ride has no quick turns and it moves at a much slower pace. The controllers can also be taken out of the "holsters" which is great for the little ones who cannot reach the pulley in Toy Story Mania. Located in Tomorrowland in Disneyland is the fun, interactive Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride based off of the Disney / Pixar movie "Toy Story 2". Climb aboard a two-seater space vehicle using your removable laser guns (from it's holster) to aim at the marked targets that light up with a direct hit. You can also use the center joystick to spin your space vehicle allowing you to get better aim at your target and access targets both on the left and right hand sides of your vehicle. It's fun to see your accumulated score at the end of the ride in your space vehicle in comparison to the top scorer of the day and the week. Although geared for the younger set, this ride is enjoyable for adults as well. This was our first time on this ride, and we were happy with how quickly the line went. With each car having two laser guns, you can compete for points with the person sitting next to you. While my son seemed to rack up points with incredible speed, my little laser gun didn't seem to work. Within seconds, I decided that it was much more fun watching my son shoot his laser gun at the Toy Story-themed targets. What's not to like?! Blasters, Zurg, little green aliens. You get to shoot at the Z's to defeat the evil Emperor Zurg in this wonderfully adapted attraction at the edge of Tomorrowland. As usual, the Disney-Pixar theming is on point! It feels like you're in one of the Toy Story movies trying to help Buzz defeat his arch enemy. Two cadets per cart go through this ride and the goal is to shoot/hit all the lit up Z's to rack up points. There's a knob on the front of the cart that you can use to turn around so you can shoot in other directions. Depending on the amount you score you'll be placed in a level at the end. The ride also takes your photo, which you can then email to yourself at the exit of the ride. Look out for the harder to find Z's as they'll net you more points! read more

Especially if the line is short, the ride is the only I don't mind riding twice in a row. 3. It's interactive! It's basically a shooting gallery, only you don't have to stand up! And you don't have to pay. In other words, it's ideal for lazy broke people. 2. It's competitive! You can play against your friends, and other guests, as highest scores get posted. 1. You get your picture taken, and instead of taking a photo of a monitor or buying it, you can email it to yourself. Or a stranger. Why not? (omg Trevor99@gmail will be so confused) Helpful hints: CALIBRATE: immediately aim your gun at the easiest (nearest) surface so that you may calibrate your gun by seeing how "off" it is. It will likely be off and you may need to aim, for example, up to four inches (or half a penis) to the right. WIN: There's a secret spot under the Z on Zurg between his two chest plates about halfway up that are worth 50,000 points. (Hit the square targets on his sides to get him to turn toward you). Also, avoid shooting circles. They're basically the pennies of targets. If you REALLY want to get high score, drop your fanny pack on the track to make the ride stop. (I'M KIDDING, I'M KIDDING, use a backpack, it's bigger) SMILE: the camera will catch you in the second room, shortly after you go through a small tunnel of red diamond targets, so pick your nose at the right time. Really fun competitive ride which continually moves. We always try to get the hi score to make the top ranks. Tip in zurgs breast plate there is a tiny hole you can shoot for big points. I always have trouble hitting it but my wife is good at getting it. Something you want the ride to stall to reap extra points.
