Overall I think the food here ranks among the top for Italian restaurants in St. Louis and from a value perspective I believe it is number one. Before I ordered, I explained to our server that I really love Linguini in Clam Sauce but was reluctant to order it as I've had some really bad versions locally and asked her about the dish here. She said it was fabulous so I gave it a shot and have to say it was the best version of the dish I've had in St. Louis. The flavor was fantastic, the linguini perfectly cooked and the clams were fresh and plentiful. Later I told her that the only thing bad about the dish was that I wouldn't be able to order anything else going forward. We also tried the Ice Cream for dessert. First time in and decided to check it out on the advice of some friends. It is located in the same shopping center where Oishi is. This used to be the old location for Filippos. As soon as you enter is the hostess and we were promptly seated earlier than our reservation time because we arrived very early. I like what they've done to the inside. The bar is the central feature to the restaurant with some bar seating in case you didn't make a reservation or just want to watch a game. There are plenty of tables and I think there is even a private room. Our server was very professional, friendly and attentive. He explained the specials for the night and they had 3 different fish specialties which we were thrilled about because it is hard to find good restaurants with lots of seafood options in STL. Three of us ordered the Chilean Sea Bass special with asparagus and my son ordered the Filet. The filet was cooked perfectly according to him and the Sea Bass was a very large piece and prepared in caper wine sauce. Also cooked perfectly. I would say the only downside is the price. I prefer a somewhat sweet Italian dressing or something more St. Louis style with a milder vinegar note. The sea bass was excellent! The char from the Sicilian prep was scrumptious and it was also cooked to perfection. Hubby ordered the tortellini (he's an expert ha ha). He said it was good, but he's had better; it was a little bland and thought something like bacon would be the remedy. We got their limoncello layer cake and loved it. A couple standout apps we tried were the Eggplant Parmigiana, and flash-fried Spinach. LOVED both, in fact the Eggplant could be a meal by itself! For dinners, the Bolognese was very good, with slight sweetness in sauce taste, but plenty meaty and tender to eat - and they were flexible for us to select a different pasta choice vs. Capellini. I was back home to bury my wife of 55 years. Went to Buzzettas based on reviews. Of course there ok since the owner gave one of the ladies in our group $75 gift to NOT post a review. Almost two full hours from time we were seated until dinner arrived. My risotto was not undercooked, it was uncooked as one reviewer noted who was there at the same time. I mean EVERY dish was terrible. When we left we were only ones in dining room. Also, owner came over half hour in to tell us had no swordfish or other entree ordered. I mean ALL the food was terrible. When check arrived way over $300. Only alcohol was one or two beers, no dessert and only two appetizers for five of us. Big ripoff!!! Do not go near this place.
