My husband and I were excited to try the highly anticipated restaurant, Buzzettas, that recently opened in Chesterfield Valley. The Buzzettas family own several Italian restaurants in the St. Louis area that are phenomenal, so we could not wait to give Buzzettas a try. Although we had to wait over an hour past our reservation time to be seated, it was well worth it. Clearly they are still working on some staffing issues, but once we were finally seated the service was top notch. The Owner apologized for the wait and gave us a complimentary appetizer for the inconvenience which was much appreciated. I ordered the Sicilian Chicken with a side House Mixed Greens Salad and my husband had the Benedetto's Farfalle. Everything was wonderful, we will definitely be back! read more

Always looking to try new restaurants to find new favorites and Buzzetta's may become one of those on my list. Only open for about 6 weeks, they do have some wait staff issues to work through but the food is worth overlooking those issues at the moment. To be truly outstanding, the service will need to step up to match the food and ambiance which were both spot on! Didn't have to worry about choosing between a pasta dish or meat entree because we were able to get a delicious filet along side of pasta del mare. The filet was cooked perfectly and the pasta had shrimp, scallop, mussel and clams in a white wine sauce. They were both outstanding and solved my menu selection decision. We also enjoyed fried calamari served with flash fried spinach that was a nice surprise. Eggplant parmigiana was also done real well. Only disappointment was the salad which was way overdressed and when a replacement salad was brought to the table it was equally overdressed. Guess we should have asked for the dressing on the side! I will be returning soon to further sample the menu which fortunately is quite extensive and hoping the service will be improved. read more

A really nice, dimly lit, romantic restaurant with Frank Sinatra type music playing. We were sat by the owner - he was very nice. The wait staff were all very friendly & attentive too. The homemade warm bread was fantastic! Loved the soft pillowy texture & sesame seeds on top. The toasted ravioli were great appetizer! Seasoned well & crispy, served with a homemade meat sauce. For dinner, I got the beef & veal tortellini without onions. It was really good - sauce was great as well as the peas, mushrooms, & prosciutto. My husband got the chicken spedini served with risotto. The chicken was moist & had nice grill marks. It was stuffed with a bunch of great toppings but it was a bit too citrusy tasting for me. The risotto also had an odd flavor - I think it was a really strong green olive flavor but not sure. For dessert, we got the chocolate mousse cake. It was awesome! Went when 1st opened, chalked our mediocre experience up to opening jitters (would be a giant ass otherwise). Food was spicy as hell and terrible service, but that's what opening are for. 2nd time several months later, the restaurant - grabbed some quick reservations on OpenTable and when we arrived the restaurant was humid and sweaty despite it not being particularly hot outside. We waited for ~10 mins on a not particularly busy night) and could see 3 high top tables (which we asked for) and a couple of sit down tables visibly open. We politely told the hostess thank you but we will go someplace else, ready to just say it was again not their best night and have tried again. Here's the butthurt - No sooner did we hit the car did my phone ring with a call from the owner with a SHARP attitude asking "my hostess said you were going someplace else, uh... WHY!?" If you like no frills St. Louis style Italian food, this is your place. Buzzetta's fills the West County void for this kind of food now that Benadetto's has closed. My son and I went on a Friday night. We had made a reservation. Was it necessary? Probably a good idea to make one. It was crowded at 6:30. We were greeted at the door by the friendliest, most genuine woman who was truly happy that we were there for the first time. It's a dimly lit dining room with a lot of tables. It was an older crowd. Average age was 50s. Son had a Shirley Temple and I got a martini. Martini was good. No complaints. Calamari appetizer. Squid was done perfectly. Didn't taste like overcooked linoleum. It was served on a bed of flash fried spinach. Normally, I'm a fan of flash fried spinach, but this was a tad bit too oily. No points off because it wasn't the "main event." The squid was, and it was very good. The sauce it came with was nice and spicy. Caesar salad was acceptable. My main dish was the chicken spiedini. I was informed by my waitress that it was fresh rolled every morning. Lightly breaded and A++ delicious. I could have eaten another two of them. It was served on a bed of what was supposed to be risotto. It was more of a flavorful rice than risotto, but it was good nonetheless. My son got the capellini bolognese with a couple meatballs. It looked a bit over-sauced for me and I personally wouldn't serve that kind of pasta with that sauce, but he liked it and said the meatballs were good. Did not get seated until 8:40 and I understated that tables didn't clear when they thought they would but after we were seated we waiting a LONG time for someone to come to the table. Perhaps they are understaffed, but if that is the case, don't seat as many tables. Dining room is quite loud. Toasted ravioli was way over cooked. Salad was uninteresting. Salmon special had little flavor. Prawns w risotto was the most flavorful. Pasta portion was quite small. One plus was that everything was hot. Some of the best Italian food I have had outside the home kitchen of a Sicilian friend. I could have just eaten a couple orders of the eggplant parmigiana for my main course, it was that good. The greeting at the front as you enter was immediately welcoming. We made reservations and were immediately seated. Our server, Susan, was friendly and was helpful with questions. The warm Italian bread was delicious. It was served with olive oil and Parmesan cheese. We ordered the meatballs for an appetizer-- came with 2. Why I have not been here before I do not know. My first delightful surprise was when I walked in and saw how beautiful, elegant and also cozy the restaurant was. From the outside it looks like you will walk in to a smaller restaurant, but it is quite large inside and even has a private room. Our server came right over and we spoke about a few of the drinks on the menu, and I decided the Hugo Spritz which was light and refreshing! Bread service was wonderful and we each received our own plate of olive oil, balsamic, and a generous helping of Parmesan cheese if we wanted. For dinner, I had the Linguini Mare which did not disappoint. The white wine sauce was perfect, not like a thick gravy (which I am not a fan of), a pure white wine sauce mixed with linguine, which was cooked to perfection, and the generous portion of seafood. One of my friends ordered the Sicilian chicken, another the tortellini and the other capellini bolognese! There was not one negative comment from anyone. Each of us raved about our dishes. Our one regret was that we were so full that we could not try any of their amazing desserts. I can't wait to take my family here and try even more incredible food. Food is always delicious. We always order the Sicilian chicken and enjoy having leftovers. Couple of items that bummed me out though, we made reservations but didn't specify what room. For some reason every time we come we always get out in the side room and it just feels cramped and has totally different ambiance. We could've said something but chose not to. They also left us with plates of balsamic and oil but we had to ask for a break basket after about ten minutes. Their red Italian wines are so good. read more

My new favorite restaurant! We tried it last week and loved it, so came back this week for a family birthday. The staff is so friendly and personable- truly feels like you're making a friend during dinner. The food is delicious- everything we've ordered has been amazing! We started with two orders of caprese salad (for four people), and it was served divided and plated beautifully. Last week we had the flash fried spinach and it was very good- a heaping mound of spinach, great portion. Last week we ordered linguine del mare and linguine with clams and both were exceptional. This week, most of the table ordered the specials, and all were great- amazing portions! Food was fairly quick. Limoncello cake was brought out for dessert for our birthday girl and it was wonderful too! Our leftovers were taken back to be packaged (boxed, plastic wrapped, and bagged). Our water glasses were never halfway empty. Staff is amazing. Great space- a little dark at first, but we adapted quickly and didn't have a problem after a few minutes. I have been eating at this family's restaurants in St. Louis my entire life. I gave Buzzetta's Italian Café some time before I tried it. We walked in very early on a Friday with no reservations and they were able to accommodate us. We both ordered the Mixed Greens Salad. It was just a spring mix, some slivers of red onion, and some Parmesan cheese. My dinner date got no cheese or dressing. My salad tasted like it had no dressing so I asked for some and once I put that on it was good. Large portion of salad. My dinner date ordered the Puttanesca (sans anchovies) for dinner. He loved it. I ordered the Shrimp De Jonghe appetizer in an entrée portion with a side of risotto. The risotto was a little thick but the shrimp is absolutely delicious. They use a high quality San Marzano tomato and put just the right amount of red pepper in it. It's spicy but not overly so. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. Now that I've been here it will be tough to stay away! I'm sure I'll be back again and again. There are lots of other items on the menu I would like to try! I wish them much success! read more

Whoa! I agree with the prior reviews - truly a hidden gem. I have stopped by this plaza many times but never noticed it in the corner. We went one random night, and it was such a pleasant treat! Buzzetta's has an unassuming front and staff were very welcoming. The inside has dim lighting and appears clean and kinda fancy. We ordered a couple of appetizers (calamari and artichokes alla Lia) and a couple of pasta dishes. I enjoyed the pasta dishes the most. The pasta seems fresh and homemade, and sauce (we got a white and red sauce entrees) was so good. We will definitely venture back. Second visit and the service was beyond HORRIBLE! My wife and I came in for a much needed date night that turned into utter disappointment. Our waiter (if you can even call him that) was completely confused & clueless! Although he was nice it is apparent training is not a priority here! First we waited 15 minutes before anyone even came over to greet us. Once we were finally greeted it seemed like it was his first day on the job. As we arrived, the people leaving told us how good the food was. We liked the ambiance of black table cloths, candles, elevated dining area and welcoming servers. The owner greeted us at our table. I visited Chesterfield Missouri on a work trip and this was hands-down the best restaurant I had eaten at the entire time I've visited. The customer service was absolutely superior and the food was absolutely phenomenal. I can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu. They took extremely good care of me. The drinks are strong. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced the chef and managers both came out multiple times to check on me, and made sure that the food and the service were both held to an outstanding standard, but the best part.
