Let's talk about the pros then the cons ... Pros : the server was nice and checked on me often . My food came out relatively fast and so did other people while I was there unlike previous reviews. Cons : the place isnt the cleanest, I didnt see any roaches like the previous review but it could use a deep cleaning. I got a chicken quesidilla... it was very bland even tho it had red onion it didnt taste like much , the chicken had no seasoning which was disappointing for the 11.99 price point - the only thing that saved it was the salsa and sour cream which was included. I ate 2 pieces and left still hungry but not wanting more. I do think the family burger dwal they offer is good but only if it tastes good which that im not sure if ill ever know so hopefully someone else will weigh in on that. read more

I first went to this place during lent and got the big fish sandwich and it was delicious. Ever since that time, the food has steadily gotten worse and worse. The last two times, I ordered the fish sandwich, it was dry and looked like it had been sitting out for over a hour. This most recent time was the last straw. I ordered a BYG grilled chicken sandwich and this is how it came. It was supposed to have lettuce, tomato and onion and this is how it came (see pic below). What kinda mess is this?!? The worst restaurant in Anderson Township(and it's not close). Slow service, food that takes over an hour, forgotten drinks, local games not on and management that just watches it all happen. No chance this place makes it. Just a matter of how long. Hope the next place does better. read more

Honestly, it could have been better. I wanted it to be better. The staff are great, and I really want to stress how great the staff is. The food is good too. But this is a business with a lot of televisions with a lot of sports on, and I don't think it's unreasonable that if you live in Cincinnati, you just might be an Ohio State or an Ohio University fan, and last Saturday's football game between #1 ranked Ohio State and Ohio University was only televised on Peacock. I hate that there are 50 million subscription services, and that every week my team's game shifts from ESPN to Fox to CBS to Big10 Network, to Peacock and more. I can't possibly subscribe to all of them. You know what gets me to leave the house and go to a restaurant with good food and drink? A place that has my game on! But . . . will my game be on? To answer that question, we stopped in at By Golly's on Saturday morning. They weren't even open yet, but a worker was at the door preparing to start their day. We stopped and I asked about the game being on Peacock, and we were assured "We have it. The game will be on, for sure." Newsflash: They don't have it, and the game was not on. We arrived to find another couple who noticed our jerseys and saw us searching the television screens. "They don't have it" they told us. They found out AFTER ordering beers, so they were nursing their beers and calling other area restaurants and bars to find one carrying the game on Peacock. That couple told us the staff even called their management, who said they don't carry Peacock and won't subscribe to it. Another local restaurant bar was carrying the game on Peacock, so we headed there and the other couple met up with us there. We spent the entire evening at another restaurant watching the 7:00 p.m. game, enjoying good food and drink with a bunch of other like-minded people, and I just can't stop thinking how much fun By Golly's COULD have been if they'd just carried that game on Peacock. What my family alone spent would have paid for my own subscription to Peacock, but instead I had a great time going out that COULD have been at By Golly's, but WASN'T because they won't carry Peacock. Just a humble suggestion to the proprietors of By Golly's: A subscription to Peacock would almost certainly reward you with a generous amount of business on game-day weekends. read more

Had the cheeseburger pizza during pizza week and it was delicious! Tried the fish, waffle fries and Cole slaw. Fish was ok, I wasn't a fan of the Cole slaw as it had some unique almost bitter taste. read more

This place used to be The Varsity, which okay. The new owners have cleaned it up, gave it better lilighting and just gave it a better look. I started with jalapeno poppers. They were crispy on the outside and mildly molten inside. By themselves, they were good. But, they are served with Ranch dressing and that was a little weird. Next I had the bacon cheeseburger. Super juicy, very tasty, it was a great choice. Our server, Morgan was friendly and attentive. Keeping in mind this is still a sports bar, the noise level could be a bit loud, so choose your table wisely. All in all, there will likely be a return visit. read more

August 17. Visited the new By Golly location on Beechmont for the first time. We ordered a pizza billed as 'Our Famous' Cheeseburger Pizza. It was brought to the table quickly and hot. The ingredients were fresh and properly prepared. It was simply excellent and something worth returning for. The service was prompt and attentive. The sports bar atmosphere is a bit noisy (as expected) but the background music was loud enough that normal conversation was difficult. Background music should be just that, background. It should not impede normal conversation. I'll return to this restaurant again once they have been open for a while and they've smoothed out the bumps that always pop up when opening a new restaurant. For sure this place is worth a try. read more

When I heard a By Golly's was opening on Beechmont, I was rather stoked, because I really enjoyed their location in Milford and expected a similar great experience in this one. Maybe the staff is just too new because that's not necessarily what happened there. The food was just okay, the service was lacking, and even the atmosphere seemed incomplete. Honestly, I think they rushed to open before they were ready. I went with my work crew on a Thursday for lunch. It was a bit busy but not completely packed. The place itself was formerly Varsity and it looked like they'd just repainted everything white ane grey. I hate to say it, but it felt stale and boring, no personality unlike the original location. We were sat right away by a very friendly hostess. The menu was pretty much the same as the original location so I had an idea of what to expect. However, we sat for a good 20 minutes before anyone approached us for drinks, and I watched a few servers stand around the front by the host stand just talking non-stop so it's not like they were understaffed. Looking around, I could tell that everything was not ready to go, as they still had someone working on the iced tea maker. As for our food, we started with an order of pretzel bites while we were deciding on our main courses. It took another 20 minutes to put that order in and our drinks were empty because no one came for that either. Luckily, the pretzel bites didn't take that long, and overall were pretty good. As for our order, my coworkers both did a build your own burger, one with straight fries and one with waffle fries, while I had the buffalo chicken wrap with steamed broccoli. It must've taken 40 minutes for the whole order and they brought chips instead of fries for both my coworkers. They fixed that quickly though. Everything looked pretty good, but taste-wise, was just okay. Nothing too impressive, especially for Anderson Township, which is brimming with good lunch/dinner options. I was honestly a bit disappointed in the whole experience, especially the wait, but I understand that they just recently opened up. They might have needed to train their staff a bit more instead of rushing to open so fast. Maybe things will be better if I give it another shot later on but I almost don't want to give it another go. I don't EVER like to speak poorly of a local business but this place needs work in many ways. I really hope they're able to fix the flaws and become a better addition to the area. It shouldn't take an hour and a half to have a relatively simple lunch. read more

The short girl server is absolutely atrocious. I would tell you her name if I could but we never received a check back after she took our cash payment and assumed the remaining amount was a 40% tip... we had to ask to get the rest back. On top of that she overcharged our meal twice and did not apologize for the mistakes. I could even overlook this if she wasn't incredibly cold and rude in every interaction. This is our second time being seated with her now and both times she had a horrible attitude and never refilled drinks. Have been waiting for this restaurant to open, we loved the Milford location. We got two different sandwiches and split them. I tried one bite of each and was very disappointed. My husband got the Saratoga chips, they were very pale and didn't have much flavor. The hoagie seemed over seasoned, too much salt. Not sure if it was the meat or the sauce. The Italian sandwich was so-so, plus we could see it sitting in the kitchen for quite a while before they served it. Might have tasted better when it was hot still. Got the fries with that and was the best tasting of anything we had that night. My husband is not a picky eater, eats anything, but when he said he wouldn't go back again, I knew it was bad. read more

TERRIBLE. this place we've now tried 4 times. Food has been up and down / very inconsistent. Beer... they may have it / maybe not, tonight the beer was oddly sweet and wrong... kinda weird. Switched to bottles..... still paid for it even though only drank half of it. No biggie........Play Keno... NO cash to pay out on ANY amount. Play music on TouchTunes...they shut music off with no warning because the 'big game' is on. Some crappy college football game. Dirty lines for the beer... tasted very 'off' and 'sweet'. Yuck. And to finish... you will 'enjoy' your experience with a group of fruit flies, they are friendly but very annoying. read more

The By Gollys located on Beeechmont Ave is infested with roaches!! The restaurant is well aware and ignores you when you tell them. this place needs to be closed down, roaches on the floor, the walls, by drink machines, just nasty. read more

They are starting to improve. The TVs are on and the menu is getting better. However, the drink service is comically slow. Expect to wait at least 10 minutes before getting your first drink. I have no idea why it takes so long, but it does. It almost felt like I was on one of those hidden camera shows and the slow service was a prank. read more

They took The Varsity and slapped some white, green and orange paint on it and that's about it. The white paneling and ceiling lights on the upper deck are reminiscent of a manufactured home. The bar tender/waitress we usually get on the lower level is awesome. She's awesome. The food is good. I think it's way better than the Varsity. Burgers are my fav item. Reasonable pricing on meals and drinks. The one thing I'd recommend they improve is the water. It's the most god awful tasting water I've ever had. I actually pack a bottle of water when we go watch Bengals games. read more

My husband and I were out and about tonight. We love to eat at places that aren't a huge chain. As we were heading down 125 I searched for restaurants near me. This place popped up. The name grabbed me and there we went. We got there kind of early. The music was spot on for us. Our era, and found out that they have theme nights. Our waitress came back to the table and said, sorry I was trying a new burger. I asked, does it have peanut butter? Crazy!? They are working on a bacon jam and they just did a Buckeye burger for the big Buckeye/Notre Dame game. Joe the GM brought me a taste of the bacon jam and it was really good. The spice gets ya at the end. We will definitely be back for Trivia night! As usual, I only give a 4 star because there's always room for excellence. read more

We are a fan of the old By Golly's (before the new owners took over) in Milford and we're excited to try the new Anderson Twp. location. The atmosphere was so-so, pretty boring , and still had a bit of the old Varsity smell to it. But we still were hopeful and ordered drinks then our sandwiches. Our server was great and food was typical (burger, buffalo chicken sandwich, waffle fries, onion rings). However, we made a mess of our table because the food was served on plastic charcuterie-type boards that were too small for the food. The sides are served in miniature metal baskets and took up a lot of real estate. I had trouble keeping the catsup from dripping into the table and parts of my sandwich on the plate after cutting in half to eat. My husband had a harder time and was very irritated with the whine experience. I think there's a lot of potential for this place but we'll wait if/when things get "worked out." read more

we were really sad when the restaurant before them closed because we were weekly customers. We definitely wanted to give By Golly's a chance and we were hopefu we would become regulars. Our first couple visits were great. The food was great and the drinks were great. I was so happy to find they had a grilled fish that was so good and then they took it off the menu. There was a sandwich that my husband really liked and then they removed that from the menu. This all happened within a few months of them opening. The night we found out the quit carrying the sandwich my husband liked they also ran out of Burgers. We ordered our usual gin and tonics, and as soon as we tasted them, we knew there was no tonic. We told them and the waitress told the bartender and as we watched, she got ticked off and didn't even bother to check the tonic to be sure it was full and not empty. They left the drinks at our table and at the end the waitress said oh you didn't drink them guess I will take them off the bill.?? Waited a couple weeks and went back there to eat again with a big group and once again there was no tonic in the drink. The thing is my husband works for Coca-Cola service department and has for decades, and this happens to be his department he goes around and he fixes systems and wherever they have them and make sure the Coke products, including the tonic work the way they're supposed to. He told her it may show you have tonic, but if the bag is empty or if the ratio is not correct, it's not gonna taste like you put tonic in the drink. Instead of finding someone to check this out She said oh well I'm just the waitress. I tried sending this message to The Restaurant directly, no answer so then I posted it on their Facebook page and they deleted it no answer. So posting it here is my last Option. I really wanted to like this place, but we will not go back again. They not only can't even make a decent drink, but they really don't care what the customers think. You can tell the crowds have diminished just when you drive by the place so we're not the only ones. read more
