First time visitor. 4 ppl and the only table inside for dinner. Should have been a sign. TV's were so loud and server spoke so low you could barely hear. Asked manager to turn tv down and she rolled her eyes. No drink menu available to describe daily specials and server did not know what wines were offered. After a real struggle to get our orders placed we waited and waited for drinks. Finally after approximately 10 minutes two drinks showed up. About 5 minutes later food came and we had to go and ask for the other two drinks. Had to also go to bar and pick up our own drinks. Food was okay but that's the only good thing I can say. They kept blaming the printers not working or out of paper. Esh never again. Manager never asked if we needed anything even after there was an apparent issues happening. Little restaurant in cov with indoor and outdoor seating. The ambiance is ok. I don't love that they painted and got rid of the authentic decor that keystone used to be here. Just looks meh. We were seated right away, it wasn't busy at all. We got 2 apps and they came out fairly quick. But our food took forever! Seemed like a long time for how slow it was. I think there was only 2 people working, they could've even been cooking too, lol. One lady at the bar which also ran food, and our server which also sat us (who seemed high as heck) We got quesadillas, a salad, fried pickles, and mozz sticks - loved all the food! I could've sworn this place wasn't here last time I was down here, but anyway. We stopped in for a quick lunch before going to an event down the street. We shared the bacon burger with the By Golly sauce on it. Wow. Talk about being transported back to when a Big Mac was actually good. Plus, no poser middle bun to contend with. The waffle fries were very Chikfila-esque if Chikfila bothered to actually cook the fries. Get the ranch to go with them. Service was great. It was our waitress' first day on management and I have to say she was killing it. The ambiance is kind of cute but a little odd. You can tell it's old, but a lot of work has been done. read more

My family decided to come here since we used to always go to Keystone which was what By Gollys was before. I was very disappointed when I walked inside to see how they "renovated" the place. All the historical charm that keystone had was slapped over with orange and white paint. And it wasn't even done well...the food was ok but nothing notable. Service was good but it was obvious they were kissing ass which is fine I get it. Just sad it's not keystone anymore. read more

I have been an elite for 7 years and I have maybe given 5 bad reviews This place was so bad that I am not going to say anymore

Went for a late lunch this past Saturday. This is a cute little place in Covington, KY. It wasn't crowded and seating was plentiful. Only few servers working but they were friendly and attentive. We started with appetizers, fried mozzarella cheese sticks and loaded waffle fries. The cheese sticks were, enh. They are cheese sticks. I think there were 6 in an order, but I got a photo late after we started to dig in. The marinara sauce that came with them was not to any of our liking, but we got a side of ranch, and they were fine. I guess during the week they have happy hour rates but that wasn't the case when we were there, so even though they were just okay, I don't feel an appetizer that is just okay should cost as much or more than a full entree meal. Would not order those again for that reason. The loaded waffle fries were amazing. I would pay for those again, we enjoyed them very much and highly recommend. One in our party ordered the fish and chips. Now, unlike the serving of cheese sticks, don't be alarmed that it is only one pc. of fish. It was a large piece of fish, lightly breaded and cooked to the right timing. It was flakey, it was crusty, it was good. It came with a side of tangy cole slaw that had just the right balance of not too sharp, not too sweet, it was really good. [*they have a special that includes this on one of their burgers, I would definitely come back to try that] They do have specials of the day, which two of our party ordered. It was a Double cheeseburger-quesadilla. Basically, a hamburger in a tortilla instead of a bun. That was also good. A new take on cutting down on the carbs without losing out on the taste. I ordered the hot Italian sub which had a good amount of favorite deli meats, fillings, cheese and heated so everything melts together in a great sandwich. Again, it's a good amount of food. When I first saw it, I thought it was a bit small, but I couldn't even finish it, and we ended up taking a good amount of food home with us. They also have a full-service bar, and the mixed drinks were rather nice. Couple draw backs, we don't like having to go to places where we have to pay for parking, but it is what it is. The second thing, when we sat down, checking out the place, it was quaint, like you might see on Diners, Drive-in's, and Dives, but what I didn't like was that the menus were sticky, we were near a window that had an irritating fly that wouldn't leave us alone and when I glanced down at the ledge of the window sill that is located a couple inches below the table ledge, it was very dusty with lots of dead gnats on it. I'm hoping the energy they put towards their food outweighs the energy they have put towards their cleaning processes. I liked this place, I will definitely be back. The food was good, they have an extensive menu, and I'd like to try some of their other dishes, but I wouldn't recommend the window seat. read more

Went here with my friends on a Saturday night and it was not enjoyable. Waited awhile for the food and overall service was not great. Once we finally got the food it was good, but it was long over due. Hope to see the service better in the future. read more

So happy to update my review. GM Mike ditched the crappy frozen boneless wings and now serves freshly breaded white chicken boneless wings. So much better! Mike and his crew are kicking ass to make this an awesome place to chill and get some delicious food. I highly recommend this gem. read more

I failed miserably at taking pictures of everything that was ordered, but happy to give an overall review of my experience. For an app, I ordered the pretzel bites which were really good. Great portions for what you pay for. For dinner, we got a custom personal pizza and I ordered the queso burger for myself with waffle fries. The pizza was a great size for a personal serving size. My burger was pretty good, probably would have preferred it to have more queso but that's bc im a big back. Also ordered a marg which was also good. Where this place really shined was the service! Our server was incredible, she was patient with it being our first time and was very open to giving recommendations on what to order. The entire experience with her was incredible, and unfortunately I'm awful with names to give her a personal shoutout. Got the Buffalo chicken sandwich which was supposed to be smothered in Buffalo sauce yet looked like every other fried spicy chicken sandwich I've had and they ran out of sour cream for my potato skins. Basically, this place is a local chili's or Applebees. My server was really nice but he didn't write down our order and then it was messed up. read more

We were in town for a game and struggling to find anywhere open on a Monday afternoon. Fortunately for us, By Golly's doors were open! The service was friendly, fast, and attentive, and the food was delicious! We happened to visit during customer appreciate week and got free appetizers with our entrees! We wandered in on a Sunday morning (having celebrated Mass close by at the Cathedral.) Wow! Our service was extraordinary. For our party of 5, our meals were not all delivered at the same time. The onion rings arrived first, then someone's burger, then some fries...weird timing. I ordered 6 chicken tenders. Four tenders arrived. The owner who delivered them said he miscounted and would bring the other two. Can't count to six? Ten minutes later he brings two burnt tenders. The worst, though, was that they charged me $1 for honey mustard sauce for the chicken tenders. Every restaurant I've ordered chicken fingers at always include some type of dipping sauce. Charging $1 for a tiny cup of sauce is ridiculous. Since when do chicken strips not include some type of sauce? This place was nothing special. read more

Had another excellent experience at By Golly's. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The burger is excellent, one of the best in the area, with lots of choices for toppings. The atmosphere is just right; it's a fun bar that's not overwhelmingly loud. Conversation is easy. Additionally, this place takes care of the gluten free people with Sunny Marie buns and hoagies. There are lots of GF choices on the menu, a dedicated fryer for chips and fries, and a staff that understands the importance of keeping it safe. I will be back again soon! read more

I Ordered chicken tenders and onion rings, my husband ordered steak hoagie. Both meals were cold, onion rings were burnt and tasted horrible. The tenders had way to much breading. Stopped in on a whim and had a great time, lively atmosphere, great mushroom burger and friendly staff.

The inside is very bland, the ceiling doesn't match the walls. Grand opening and they haven't got anything listed on their menu like boneless chicken wings and some appetizers with a limited drink selection of coke zero, lemonade, water, and tea. good Mac n cheese and quesadilla. Bathroom and outside do not match whatever vibe they were trying to bring. I spent most of my time trying to figure out why this place is open if they can't provide 100% of their services. Customer service is nice and we had a nice server named Tati. With an amazing playlist bumping some rock classics. All in all a very interesting experience but went home satisfied nonetheless. Food is ok... not great but never bad. They make a good burger and wife likes the steak sandwich. Beer is cold and reasonable. Staff is super nice and not a revolving door. Restaurant is clean and nice inside. When we have gone they have always had 2 bar seats available. read more
