Let me tell you about our server: -He had a great personality, was extremely personable and made us feel right at home, gave us great menu recommendations, gave us coupons to come back and was just simply great. I regret I don't remember his name (blame it on my age) but, I won't forget his face and will be requesting him the next time we go back. All servers could take a lesson out of his playbook because good service is hard to come by these days! Good servers is not the norm theses days but, our server was awesome! The food: The sever started us off with sweet & spicy pickles. I didn't really know what to expect but, the sweet & salty with the tangy with crunch is great combination. I enjoyed it so much that I've already begun looking online to see where I can get them from lol. Uncle Woody's Ragin Cajun was delicious and a great choice if you want to try something different from your traditional burgers. The bun was super light/fluffy and the perfect pairing the seasoned burger, onions, mushrooms and Cajun aioli. I came for Sunday bottomless brunch. For $22, you get bottomless mimosas or bloody marys AND 1 entree. What a great deal! Service was great and you can definitely get your money's worth with the bottomless drinks. I ordered the Captain's Skillet and you get to choose how you like your eggs. I got them scrambled and it was a pretty hearty meal! My friend ordered a vegan burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was okay, but the fries were great. They close at 4pm, but everyone had left around 3pm. I would recommend this place for bottomless brunch since it's a great deal! read more

We visited here during Burger Week 2018 where I was immediately impressed by their $6 Drink Menu. We shared an order of the Bosco Bites ($6), warm pizza dough stuffed with melted mozzarella and served with marinara sauce. I could've used more cheese with these. I had Uncle Woody's Ragin' Cajun burger, which was topped with grilled mushrooms, onions, swiss cheese and cajun sauce on a toasted kaiser bun. The bottom got pretty soggy, so it was a little messy to eat. It was more of a vegetable-based patty, which generally isn't my favorite kind of veggie burger, but in this case, it was kind of a welcome break from all the black bean patties that were featured on most of the vegetarian Burger Week menus. My husband enjoyed his Roasted Veggie Flatbread ($8.50), and I appreciated the fact that it had a healthy amount of cheese, which you don't always see on a flatbread. read more

Ladder 19 is a cool bar. It also has a food menu, but you will like the drinks better. The bar is a really cool concept. It's located in an old firehouse in the UC campus area. This place gets crazy in the school year. Probably the best thing about the place is the building. It's an old firehouse so that gives it a theme, and they really did a good job with the inside. The bar is split among several floors. It has a roomy bar area. The outside seating scares offers a good view of the neighborhood. It has food, but it's mostly fried bar stuff so you aren't missing much. The draft selection is the best thing. It features many local breweries. The obligatory ones like Rhinegheist. and a few other local favorites. I had the House Red Ale. This is about $5 a pint. It's creamy and smooth and no bitter aftertaste. They also make good cocktails. I would get another drink here. It's a fun campus atmosphere. The food is an afterthought, so just get something from the drink menus. read more

I would love to be able to review the food here but the truth is, I can't. I've tried to eat here- TWICE. Husband I stopped in one evening over the winter; walked in- the music was obnoxious and Oh SO LOUD. No one in the place except staff just hanging out. We were told they weren't open to the public that evening. Cool. No big deal. It was around Christmas so staff party maybe? We went back a couple of weeks ago. Plenty of customers in the place. Cool building, love the location and the atmosphere. Here along Short Vine there's a lot of diverse and unique options at other restaurants. Ladder 19 is a good option when you are looking for a little more pedestrian bar food. I think the downside of this is that the food is nothing to write home about. Pretty run of the mill sandwiches and burgers. I've tried a few different things, but can't think of anything that I need to go back to eat. I like the spicy bread and butter pickles they serve. read more

There were no servers, just two bartenders who ignored us while they made out with each other. There were a bunch of people sitting out on the patio without drinks, but the inside was empty. It looked like the place was under construction or maybe had been robbed. I'm not sure they were even open. We left after 15 minutes and no one noticed. read more

The food wasn't bad which is why it made it all the way up to a 2. As a firefighter i make it a habit to hit every old fire station turned into a restaurant that i can. I really like the old history and such. First the music selection wasn't what i was hoping for. I felt worse for the family with little kids having to listen to "She's a Crazy Bitch" and few other songs with choice language. I know this is right near a college so i guess i am just showing my age. The food took a long time to get there. I got up from my seat in the loft bunkhouse and i saw several of the staff drinking shots from plastic cups at the bar. Not sure if that was the cause of the delay but eventually the food did show up. The white chicken chili was pretty good but everything else was pretty ok. My favorite part of this place is that the place an entire plate of complementary pickles on your table before tour meal comes...you can't hate on that! I came here and ordered a drink for me and my friend, they never gave me my drinks or my card back. They gave my card away to someone else who then used it to buy more drinks for themselves. Went to Ladder 19 on a random Monday evening around 6pm. The atmosphere was super chill; almost too chill. The bartenders/servers took multiple shots while working. This would be ok if it didn't seem like it was affecting their work but I think it was. At one point the employees turned the music up super loud and started rapping and dancing. If it were night time, it would have definitely been more welcome and appropriate.... or if I was still in college. I mean Ladder 19 is located close to Short Vine so I probably should have expected more of a college atmosphere. The food was okay but not the best. The menu is American bar food. I had Johnny's Crispy Chicken Sandwich. It was average, at best. They do have a pretty good breakfast special with unlimited mimosas that I'd like to try. WOW! So first things first, I came to Ladder 19 for the first time this week to check it out for Burger Week. They had a good looking beer cheese burger for $5 on the menu and I was thinking YES PLZ. We came during the lunch rush around 12:30pm on a Tuesday and it was paaacked with people and a few large groups (btw its good for large groups). We took some seats at the bar (they serve the full menu there) and got our drink orders in. We came to learn a few minutes later our bartender/server was actually the owner, Lori. Lori from the start let us know in such a sincere and apologetic way that they were extremely busy and there may be a short wait on things which we totally understood given it was Burger Week and the middle of lunch service. Spoiler alert, no, we did not wait an absurd amount of time for anything the whole time we were there, it was totally great! Instead of suffering through slow service we were tended to by Lori and served a free appetizer of sweet n' hot pickles and had a delightful time drinking our beer waiting on our burgers. The $5 burger week burgers came and they were ridiculously good for the price. I won't go on and on about it since it was a special they were running but wow they obviously know how to make a good burger. I'm talking two patties and Saratoga chips good. We even got a coupon to use next time we visit and brownie bites for dessert free of charge because of the anticipated "long" wait time. Anywho. Really felt compelled to write this review because it shined through the entire visit that Lori the owner was proud of her establishment and rightly so. She provided excellent, honest, service and I can't wait to stop back in. Sort of an odd night when we visited. Tuesday night during (I think) UC exam week. Place was really dead. That made me a little nervous, but we decided to stay. Our group of 4 ordered a variety of things - wings, boneless wings, a wrap and a burger. All were pretty good - the burger was a bit overdone, but otherwise fine. Had a brunch switch up this morning as the crew decided to head up to Clifton. I've been to ladder 19 a few times before, but never for brunch. They have a great deal of $15 bottomless mimosas/bloodys for $15 or $19 for bottomless + breakfast item. I got the wake n bacon burger which was so good and hit the spot for my hangover. Burger with a hash brown, bacon, and runny egg. You must ask for a side of the sauce. It makes everything so much better. It was great not having to shout over the loudness of a usual brunch spot. The waiter was so nice and even let some of our group "split" one bottomless special. I love the atmosphere of Ladder 19, which is everything firefighter. There is even a TV behind the bar with a fake fire on it, and of course a very nice REAL fireplace amongst the seating. I have only been here for drinks, but they have a nice selection of draft beers. I recommend trying their own brew, or the "hydrant" cocktail meant for a group. Theres plenty of TVs to watch whatever games, and On FC Cincinnati game days this place is so much fun to pregame at! They have those great garage doors that completely open the place to the outside, along with a nice patio. Id like to come back and checkout their brunch which includes bottomless mimosas! read more

I discovered Ladder 19 a few months ago and was very anxious to try their "bottomless" brunch. The package is you pay $19 per person for one brunch food item and bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary's. I went on a cold but sunny Sunday with my parents and my cousin. We sat in the front room so we were able to enjoy the sunshine coming through the large garage doors. The decor tied in with the firehouse theme and had a lot of Dalmatians etc, without being overdone and tacky. I can't speak highly enough of how friendly all of the wait staff was. All 4 of us ordered the bottomless mimosas and our waiter was very attentive at making sure our pitcher was full. After we finished our food we enjoyed one more pitcher of mimosas and did not feel like we were rushed out of our table, despite the fact that it was getting busy. In addition to the pitchers of mimosas, Bloody Mary's are included as well. They do not make these by the pitcher, but you are welcome to as many glasses as you wish. The food was quite delicious as well. I ordered the avocado toast with bacon. The avocado was the perfect amount of ripeness, and the toast was spread with a generous amount of avocado. Came in on a Friday, during game day, and had a very particular item in mind ( goetta fries, with sweet potato ), and was told they were out of sweet potato fries because it was game day. When is the last time you waited an hour for eggs and undercooked bacon? My answer is yesterday, when I took my UC freshman and my wife to Ladder 19. It was move-in weekend and we chose Ladder 19 because when we called the other popular brunch spots nearby campus, the wait times were 60-90 minutes. So it was a nice surprise to get seated in 5 minutes at Ladder 19, but maybe that should have been a warning sign. Our server greeted us at the stairs, made sure we got to the table quickly, and delivered waters and a screwdriver promptly. But after we ordered breakfast, all we could do was joke about the wait time for food. After 20 minutes on nobody coming by the table, I wandered back into the restaurant to find my server or a manager. It was 30 minutes now, then 40 minutes (seriously, we timed it). When I finally talked to a senior food server, all she could do was apologize and say something like "... we're sorry, we've had a bad morning, the kitchen is taking an hour for food orders." I told her we had a plane to catch, and she said she would speak to the kitchen manager. Then, she came by the table and told me "... we were in luck, she was able to move our order to the front of the line, it would only be another 10 minutes." The food came, the avocado toast wasn't toasted, the bacon on my 2 egg breakfast was fatty and not cooked, and we ate, paid and left. All we could do was laugh about how bad our experience was... probably the worst restaurant visit in my life. I need to add that we were not in a rush, we had 2 hours to have breakfast before our flight, but ended up barely making it to the airport in time. Obviously, Ladder 19 isn't a restaurant - just a place to get drunk on bottomless mimosas. But in the future, they should tell people the "food" takes an hour to deliver. read more

Overall, friendly and decently quick service given the popularity on the weekends. Relatively open space and a nice patio area, and they clear out the tables after the dinner rush making it even more open. I would recommend this place for brunch, especially if you're a UC student! Update... we ended taking all of our college graduates , And there was a bunch of them, to a Sunday brunch to celebrate all of them graduating from college in last year and ladder 19 did not disappoint. It was fun to go from one flavor to another just trying all the different options. I have been to this place twice now and left before ordering both times - both for brunch. We were enticed by the brunch deals and thought our group could have a great time with their bottomless mimosa deal. 1st experience - My cousins were in from Florida and the bartender did not accept their IDs - saying because their IDs were slightly bent that they might be fake? (my cousins are thirty years old). 2nd experience - a gameday at UC. Unless you want a bacon-wrapped pancake, you won't have any other breakfast options. I'm not exaggerating here - there's ONE breakfast option on any UC game day. And forget their bottomless mimosa for $19 deal - you get HALF a pitcher for $18. Considering we had multiple vegetarians in our group, the thought of eating bacon disgusted them. Due to the inflexibility of this place to serve more than one breakfast option or serve alcohol to customers who aren't from Ohio, I think it's safe to say we won't be back. read more

We stopped in for breakfast this past Sunday because the place down the street had a 1 hour wait and I am so glad the group I was with was hungry and lacking patience because this place is phenomenal! The decor is very unique and fun. The service we received was fantastic and I loved the food. I ordered the veggie burger and it was one of the best I have ever had. Sometimes with veggie burgers they can be bland but this one had a delicious kick to it. Additionally, the bun was perfectly toasted. I also ordered a Bloody Mary with my meal and I'm not sure what the hot sauce was that they put in it but it was one of the top 3 Bloody Mary's I have ever had (and trust me, I have had a lot of different Bloody Mary's)! They have a drink special for unlimited Mimosa's and Bloody Mary's but my group was still recovering from the previous night, otherwise would have definitely taken advantage of that. I came in here yesterday with a group of 12 to celebrate a new job and forgot to call ahead of time. They set us up in the back room and were great the whole time! First let me say that I've been here several times before for lunch, usually by myself or with two other folks, and the service and food are always great. Their veggie patties are really good and can be substituted on any burger. You get brownies at the end of every meal, and they have an affordable $7 lunch special option. The sweet potato waffle fries are also a must try! So it was for all these reasons and there being several vegetarians in the group, that I decided to go here. We had two servers plus the owner taking orders and since two in our group had to leave early to get back to work, they brought checks and to-go containers out for them. The owner was very kind and spent quite some time trying to get hot water for one in our party who wanted tea (coffee grounds kept coming out in the water). She also brought out a lovely large bowl filled with brownies with a sparkler on top! The waiters did an excellent job keeping up with everybody-I still feel bad I forgot to call ahead of time though. Overall though, I'm really happy I got to celebrate at Ladder 19. No idea why this place has 3.5 stars, should be zero stars. coffee had coffee grounds still in them. At one point we saw the kitchen staff leave the food to come take shots with other staff (which whatever do you) but when half the food is burnt not acceptable. (And a vegetarian ordered pancakes with no bacon and was served pancakes with bacon inside it?) The servers came out and set all the food on the table to let us figure out what each item was and who ordered it. Honestly just wait the extra 40 minutes for hangover easy. I was here on the patio with the family a few months ago for dinner. The atmosphere was fun, inside an old fire hall. Service was friendly, and there was no problem with kids on the patio. We even got a free show: a group of med students was playing jumbo jenga beside us with pieces of 2X4's. The food was average pub food. The beer cheese burger was well cooked, but under-seasoned. with cheese, bacon, and fried onion, but no other toppings, the effect was like a wall of meat. Fine for a few bites but unbalanced. Wings were OK but too flabby. Overall, a great place for a quick beer but I wouldn't go out of my way for the food. read more

Finally got to try this place in Clifton near UC. Came for brunch with a hungry group that new there wouldn't be much of a wait as the other place down the street. For breakfast/brunch the menu is kind of divided. For $19 (I think) you can get bottomless mimosas and one of their brunch choices. Just reading the descriptions, the options were that great and I settled for an the eggs, bacon, hashbrown combo. They did have a brunch burger that sounded awesome but would have cost me a lot more than I wanted to spend on breakfast. The mimosas weren't pretty weak but I appreciate that we were given our own individual pitcher. At $4.40 for a single drink I got my money's worth. The portion of food was small but I finished feeling satisfied. Service was pretty good and quick. I might come back to try their non-breakfast food but definitely too close to college students for me to want to come drink here. read more

Have been here twice in 2yrs and wasn't disappointed at all, either with food or the atmosphere! I got a Ladder Classic burger and Southwest skillet (pictured), while my friend got Captain's skillet. Have to say, the portion size was more than expected n I had to take home my skillet. We both really liked out skillets, while the burger was fine. My only complaint is that the food was very greasy. Some may prefer it that way though ¯\_( ツ)_/¯. There's also a lunch special every Sat n Sun for $19/person with a choice of bottomless mimosas or Bloody Mary. It's something many people seemed to love while we were there. The place is a century-old fire-station-turned restaurant. It's well-maintained, has fun ambience, loud when packed, feels energetic and service is pretty decent. And for the inexpensive price, I'd definitely recommend to check it out! read more

I have been curious about Ladder 19 for about a year now. Every time I try to go, somehow plans get derailed. Due to Cincinnati Burger Week, there were four restaurants in the vicinity we were interested in trying. This restaurant had been on my list the longest, so we decided to go here. Service was friendly. The employees we encountered were engaging, and upbeat. Our server was quick to fix an incorrect item with on our order. Service is what is keeping me from lowering my review another star. Ambiance is fun. As the name suggests, decor is firehouse themed. What disappointed us was the food, and wait for it. Occupation could be described as steady. We found a table for five immediately. Our orders were taken promptly. All good signs. Then we waited... and waited. We waited just over 50 minutes for our food. When it finally did come, one of the sides was wrong. Our server took one to the plates without a side away, and immediately returned with the correct one. She returned so quickly, it was clear fried items are just sitting in the kitchen. They tasted like they had been sitting too. The sweet potato fries were limp and barely warm. Tots were a bit stale. Both orders of the patty melt had a piece of dry toast on the top. The bottom was another story. Other than the edges, the bottom piece of bread was wet and oily. Almost as if the bread had been placed on a wet plate. This caused the bread to slightly stick to the plate when I first tried to pick it up. After waiting over 50 minutes for our food we did not have time to fix it. The other person in our party had the same problem. On a positive note, the mozzarella was on the same side as the horseradish sauce. That remain creamy. Those who ordere the Ragin' Cajun burger enjoyed the flavor. They did say their burgers were greasy. Not nearly as greasy as the patty melt, but still the greasiest burger they had had all week. Went here for the brunch and the bottomless mimosas. The mimosas were awesome! They give you a pitcher and a glass and then will refill your pitcher once you run out. This was really nice because it was pretty busy and then we didn't have to wait every time we finished our glass. I got the pancake dippers and they were OK if I go again I definitely would try something else. My friend got the capital skillet and it was so good, especially if you like potato pancakes (and who doesn't? ) !!
