The service department at Byers has really degraded over the last year or so. I've been coming here for nearly a decade, servicing somewhere between 6 and 10 Ford vehicles over that time and, up until this past year or so, I've had stellar service. That is no longer the case. Consistently, I have issues with workmanship and quality; I have issues with the advisors saying one thing on price or scope and then doing something totally different (and almost always far more expensive) instead and then getting verbally aggressive with me when I dispute it; I've even taken my issues up with their director who did listen to my concerns but apparently has not changed or improved anything given these issues continue. I've even mentioned my complaints to their staff and their response has been, verbatim "Well, if that's your decision as a customer if you don't want to use us", demonstrating a lack of care in the slightest that a long-time customer is willing to leave. Unfortunately, due to these circumstances, a long-time customer that is willing to spend significantly when appropriate and done in an honorable and trustworthy way will no longer be using this dealership or any affiliated with them. I advise anyone coming here for service to ensure you get every single thing they say in writing before you proceed and expect that even if you do, they may still go against that agreement and then get combative and disrespectful with you when you dispute it. read more

Very rude service coordinators. Find another dealership! I had my Ford E-Transit towed to this dealership because my truck failed to start one day in a store parking lot. I was told that their service backlog was 4 days; Anyone who wanted service had to schedule it, and they were currently scheduling 4 days out! When I complained, they sarcastically asked me if I was telling them that they should put me in front of someone who has patiently waited 4 days for their appointment! I said yes, Andy they just looked at me scornfully! They also said they had no loaner cars, but could recommend a car rental place that wasn't far away. I threw a fit, and very loudly "explained" that emergency service should be higher priority than scheduled maintenance, because when scheduling maintenance most people can continue using their vehicle while they wait for their appointment. They did not seem to care. While I was waiting for my wife to come get me, I learned that a technician had decided to look at my truck. The technician was nice, and found that my truck had a known problem for which there was a recall, but it was a silent recall that was not proactively sent to everyone. Only trucks that exhibited this problem would get the replacement part. This was a Friday, and I was told the part should be in Monday. On Monday afternoon I called to see when I could pick up my truck, and was told that installing the part required a specialized piece of equipment, and they only had one of those. Another truck that had been sitting in their lot for 2 months had finally received approval for a procedure that would take 2 weeks, and they had started doing that procedure just before my part came in, and It would be 2 weeks before they would be able to install my part. The "good news" was that once that equipment became available again, it would only take a couple hours to install my part. I was without my work truck for 3 weeks because the service coordinators at this dealership don't care about the customer!!! Or perhaps they don't understand that emergency service that takes a couple hours with a part expected to arrive that day should be higher priority than a 2 week service that has been waiting 2 months for approval (especially for a known problem with a silent recall). Or maybe they were spiteful because I got mad at them when they told me I would have to wait 4 days for them to look at the truck that I had just had towed in, and perhaps they did this on purpose. I don't know which it is, but I am never taking my truck to this dealership again! I complained to them multiple times during this whole ordeal, and they kept telling me there was nothing they could do for me. I even pointed out the sign that they had near their cashier that says "If there's any reason you can't leave a 5 star review, please let us know", but they had no answer for that. read more

Typical slimy dealership and salesman. After negotiating a price that I was happy with and making plans to drive out and purchase the truck, the salesman (Nick) informed me that their "out the door" price actually included $5k of my downpayment. So now instead of $52k, I was actually paying $57k. But technically since I make the downpayment before I walk out the door, then it counts toward their "out the door" price I guess? That's a slimball dishonest way to do business and I have never had another dealership do that to me. Anyways, when I responded and said that I would only do the "out the door" price that I originally thought I was getting, the salesman told me "Yeah, i dont have $5,000 to give you bud." So I went to a different dealership and got a nicer truck for a better price. Purchased a vehicle a few years back and have had nothing but problems. The vehicle I bought was certified and was owned by Byers Ford. Within the first year, hood rust appeared (not even 30kmiles). Secondly the whole dashboard cracked in multiple places. Third, the brakes are atrocious. In fact, on my third set of rotors and pads since owning the car. Worst of all, the rear calipers literally fell apart while driving, causing complete brake failure. No brake pressure, no e-brake function. I'm thankful my wife is alive and was not traveling on the freeway with kids in the car. Lastly the gray leather seats have blue spots on them for some unknown reason. Most of the blue stains appeared after we bought the car. One of the stains was found the day after I bought it. It is so frustrating to be sold a car with so many issues. Went to see if I could get an oil change today was told it wouldn't be a problem. It would only take one hour. My vehicle wasn't seen for an hour and 40 minutes then when it was seen, I had to remind them to grease the joints on my pick up. Before that the service department try to upsell me on parts on a previous visit that I didn't need that was going to be $2200 when I approach the sales manager about this predatory tactic instead of owning the mistake. He was rude, dismissive and disregarded me not buying a vehicle from them I've already talked three people out of buying a car from them. I purchased a 2021 F150 Lariat PowerBoost. The purchase was simple due to the fact that I was purchasing a difficult to find vehicle so negotiation was very minimal. They offered a fair trade allowance without a hassle. There seemed to be vert little effort towards making us feel like valued customers or retain us for future purchases. I realize that there is not a lot of motivation for a dealer to invest in that effort but on a $70k truck you would expect at least a cup or a hat.... A bed liner would also have been nice. When I asked about it I was told they are cheap, go get one.... I also asked about tires, I was told they aren't a tire company. They said they can't register my truck for me with the state due to an out-of-state trade. One reason I bought now was to avoid a trip to the BMV to register a vehicle for a month... I have traded out-of-state multiple times in the past with no issue. They still charged a doc fee for the trade but I got the feeling that they just didn't want to mess with the registering the truck, especially since it was late on a Saturday. The salesman's knowledge of the truck was limited, possibly due to them moving through the lot so fast that the salespeople don't have time to acclimate themselves. I had Googled most things before arriving but there are some options that are tricky. The keyless entry number pad code is still missing. I can get it by pulling up a trim piece inside the cab but I shouldn't have to risk breaking a retainer clip to get my code. Would I recommend this dealer? I can honestly say I would not send someone there specifically. Would I go there again? Yes, if they had a vehicle I wanted but I wouldn't make a special trip to Delaware based on anything Byer's Ford did. read more

First of all, I didn't deal with Mark Morgan. That was a mistake on my end. I dealt with sales manager, Dan Perry. I, apologize to Mark, I was trying to see pictures off my phone and mistaken him for Dan. You can just read the email, it explains what happened to me. I drove four hours to look at a truck and couldn't get a good test drive on it because the check engine light was on. I never heard anything back from Todd Garverick, who is the general manager, after that email. If you are considering from buying from Byers, please take your business elsewhere. I wish I had the footage of what happened because it was absolutely ridiculous. Dan walked out to the car, from the doorway of the dealership, yelling and cussing at me, because I said " What a joke" which I feel I had every right to say. Regardless, a sales manager should never act the way he did, even going as far as to calling me. "Boy". He wouldn't walk away from the car as we were trying to leave until another sales associate had to get him out of the way. Collin was apologetic about the situation and was trying to make it right, but Dan was disrespectful and totally out of line. I will never recommend this dealer to anyone, nor will I be back. Couldn't give me a vehicle for free. This incident happened on the 2nd and I still have heard nothing after being told I would receive a call. However, when I scheduled some work to be done I drove almost an hour for them to tell me they were unable to do any work on my car. Because they didn't do that work on Saturday's. I bought a 2017 Kia Optima at the end April from Byers Ford. The car papers mentioned that it was in a prior minor accident, but the sales people said everything was fixed. A few months later, I realized the break light on the same side where the previous accident was mentioned was not working properly. When I took a closer look I saw cracks on the side of the car all the way inside the door. When I called the dealer (Byers Ford) Ron, the manager said they have nothing to do with the car or the fact that they sold me a car that was not properly fixed following a car accident. Dealerships should not be selling damaged cars that were in prior accidents and were not properly fixed. Also, this manager said that was my fault without even seeing the site.... They have a traditional buying experience but that is not the issue with the Byers Ford. They lack attention to cleanliness and respect for the coronavirus standards. The entire sales team did not practice social distancing and masks were more optional than standard. The sales agent handed me pens, his dirty key board without cleaning it before I use the same tools. There was zero wiping of the car with disinfectant prior to the test drive or before taking the car home. The general cleaning practices of the office are missing let alone enhanced cleaning protections to the customer in these new times. My wife and I went to test drive an Edge. We were not interested in buying until the fall and made it very clear that we would not be purchasing a vehicle until then. Our sales guy understood and was a pleasure to be around - no pressure at all. He let us go on our test drive, and when we came back, he quietly told us that his sales manager yelled at him for not going along. As we looked at other cars, I noticed his manager attempting to be nonchalantly maintaining whatever car we were around as he listened in on our conversations. About a half an hour after we left, we got a call from another representative who said that our salesman had walked out of the dealership and that they would be handling us from now on. It sounded a little strange to us, so my wife called him (we had his cell # because he called us from it when we arranged to meet him for the test drive). He said that he was fired because he didn't sell us the vehicle. We called back the dealership and let them know that, while we would be buying a vehicle in the next few months, it would not be at Buyers. Too bad, as I do my best to support local businesses. The service people are terrible and the other staff pass the buck whenever they can. I will never be going back. Took my CPO Ford to Byers to figure out why the remote start system had stopped working. Their service team diagnosed the issue as being a faulty body control module and said it would cost $550 to replace it. I declined, and they billed me $110 for the "service diagnostic." After I got my car I noticed that an interior panel had not been reattached by the service crew, and the screws for it were all missing. I called Byers Ford to ask about the panel but their phone line was busy so I was transferred to the main line for the dealership. The person I spoke to couldn't have cared less that I had a panel detached inside my vehicle and that wires and circuits were exposed. He just said to try back later. All I wanted was to come get the screws and reattach it myself. He was of no help and wouldn't even take a message. A week after Byers serviced my vehicle, my driver's side windshield wiper stopped working while I was driving to work in a horrendous downpour. Rather than be ripped off again, I decided to take a look myself when I got home that night (I'll spare the details of driving in a rain storm with only 1 wiper). I immediately discovered that my wiper stopped working because the service people at Byers had not screwed the nut back onto the wiper bolt all the way! (In this car, you have to take the wipers off to get to the battery. Thanks Ford for the great design.) Bottom line is: I could have gotten into a horrible accident due to their shoddy job at putting my car back together. As for the "bad body control module," I looked at my battery terminal cables and discovered that the small wire going to the negative terminal had been severed somehow. I bought a new negative terminal wire from Autozone for $10 and fixed the remote start myself. In short, the people at Byers Fors only made my car worse and tried to take me for a ride for a $550 BCM when it only took a simple terminal wire to fix the problem. I am not very auto savvy but apparently I am a better mechanic than whoever they have on staff. Needless to say, I will NEVER be going there again and would advise anyone who asks of my dealings with them. My experience wasn't all that great. My salesman Tim was very nice and knowledgeable, but I did not realize that they were like Carmax, their listing price is their selling price. No one told me that there was not any wiggle room from where they had the car listed. I bought a Mariner from these guys. I was up-sold on a warranty and the whole caboodle. Leaving happy I felt that returning for service would be a pleasant experience. I was very wrong. A standard oil change that "included" a complete chassis check, tire rotation and a set of $14 ea OEM wipers later cost me apx $86 My first problem is readily apparent the instant I leave...I smell oil? Why? This is a 2 year old vehicle with under 40kmi?!? Then the expensive wipers don't work. I also notice there is no way my wheels were rotated. No fingerprints present (though they managed to dirty marks all over my tan door panel) and brake dust still present on the front wheels? Mind you the car was dirty; its easy to observe this... I call them after suffering with the oil smell, and wipers for a week. They fix the smell, change the defective part and while I'm there I actually hear the air ratchet and torque wrench... As I am leaving I am told there's no way we forgot to rotate the wheels and we found no oil?! Which is complete lunacy.. I know what burning oil smells like here fellas, I've taken down to the block myself more than once. Further I have a rattle upon acceleration its been present since day one. I swear my exhaust is loose. It only happens when I mash the gas. But I was made to feel like I was stupid because they couldn't see anything.. Did you drive it like I told you to do?! No... Loyalty obviously means nothing apparently since nothing was their fault and I am just a stupid person that doesn't know what he is talking about. In the end fixed the issues but denied any responsibility for the problems!! What level of confidence can I have in this $2000 warranty I purchased with this quality of service? Bottom line I wont be returning for service or otherwise. read more

I would leave this service department a 0 if possible. I made contact on 2 separate occasions for recall on a Focus ST. Both times, call was not answered, and I went to vm. Left detailed messages, calls were never returned...even after 3 weeks. I instead went to Krieger Ford, whom returned my call promptly and scheduled my car. I've always driven whatever cheap car my dad bought for me, until last year when I decided I needed a car that wasn't almost 20 years old. So I swung by Byers Ford and found myself the perfect car. I worked with John G. and he did an excellent job. He maintains a personal relationship with his clients and keeps in touch without being pushy. I also get my car serviced there for oil changes and whatnot and it's always quality work with follow-up on any issues they see. When the time comes that I outgrow my current car I will definitely start with Byers Ford to get the next one. read more

I set up a service appointment online for an airbag recall from Ford. After receiving multiple texts and emails confirming the appointment I called today to verify it and to ensure I would get the complimentary loaner that was promised in the 2 recall notifications I received from Ford. The person I spoke with in service said they had no record of my appointment and that they don't provide loaners for that repair. Additionally she came off condescending as if both issues were somehow my fault. There were NO APOLOGIES. Byers is my preferred Ford dealer in the Central Ohio area, and there's a reason I always drive 25 minutes from my house to go there as opposed to Germain Ford (literally three blocks from my house). My family has purchased three vehicles from Byers (two of which were my own) and each time Josh Chadwick was the salesperson spearheading the process. When we bought the first two cars back in 2013, Josh had apparently recently joined the team as one of their newer members. Earlier this week when I purchased my second personal car from Byers, I was greeted (and recognized) by Josh, who informed me that he had shot right up to Sales Manager for the dealership. I can tell you exactly why this happened: 1) First off, Josh is very knowledgeable. I never got a "hold on, I'll have to go check into that". He knew what he was talking about, he knew what he had on the lot, and he knew quite a bit about individual vehicles (impressive given the size of Byers' lot). He was always quick to answer any questions or concerns that I had, without needing to sugarcoat anything. In fact, he has been following up with me via email about several assorted questions I've had since I purchased my latest car. 2) Josh has a very hands-on approach to selling cars, but is a far cry from any other dealership I have ever had to work with. What I mean by this is that I told him what I was looking at, and he told me to go on a test drive within five minutes of getting to the dealership. He scanned my license, slapped a plate on the car, and told me just to come back when I'm done. He didn't need to ride along in the back seat and ask how I liked the stitching on the steering wheel, or how it felt to know that I was *this* close to owning a car I've drooled over for the better part of three years. He let me take the reins, get out there and get an unbiased, uninterrupted opinion of the car without sitting on my back and selling me on features. It was a very low pressure environment every time I have been involved with Josh and Byers in general, and is one of the main reasons I will continue to go back (and take my girlfriend when she's ready to get a new car). 3) This is by far and away THE MOST IMPORTANT reason Josh has continually exceeded my expectations and I will continue to take my business to Byers Ford, but first let me explain my experience with other dealerships. Any other time I have purchased a car, or been involved with the purchase of a car for a friend/family member, it always follows a very formulaic approach for the salesperson: first, ask what car they want to buy. Second, ask how much they can afford to pay a month (a great way to ensure you squeeze every last penny out of the buyer). While I do understand that they're there to make money, this ends up in a lot of people being overburdened and they end up paying a lot more for a car than they have to. Byers is very different in this respect. I wasn't asked how much I wanted to pay a month. I was asked what I was looking for, and Byers was able to make accommodations on my trade-in, with the financing companies, and with the price of the new vehicle to suit ME. I ended up paying $35 more a month for twice the car I had before, which helped me stay well within my budget while upgrading to something much nicer. In short, I have had nothing but stellar experiences with the sales department at Byers Ford. You would be remiss to not check them out if you're in or near Columbus looking for a shiny new Ford. We recently purchased a used Toyota Highlander from Byers Ford and had a very good experience. Josh was very helpful throughout the whole buying process and everyone was very nice and there were no pushy sales people here at all. The price was very reasonable and the car was in excellent condition. The detailing on it was so good that it almost looked brand new and several people have asked me if it was a new model. We drove from out of state and I had been in communication with other dealers closer to home and found them to be annoying, sending numerous emails and texts and calls but this was not the case at Byers. Our dealings were professional and timely. They knew we wanted to drive back to Kansas and they did their best to speed the process along so we could be on our way. My husband always dreads buying cars but this was the easiest experience we have had in awhile. We really appreciated the fact that we didn't have to haggle. My only complaint was that the vehicle was advertised as a higher grade model than it actually was and I was quite disappointed as it was really what I was looking for which is why we drove so far to get it. We went ahead and purchased because it was a good car and it was a fair price, even for the lower model grade. The extended warranty is good and covers just about everything- we probably paid more for that than we should have and hopefully we won't need it but our experience generally has been that they are worth the cost so we felt inclined to purchase it. It was far away, but I would be willing to make the drive and buy from these guys again. read more

After "everything is okay" from Byers on my last visit, I took car to Goodyear. After less than 15 min. Goodyear said both back wheel bearing are bad (cost me $51). Took it again to Byers and they finally admitted the left back bearing was bad. Took them 2 weeks to get the parts. They called and said car was ready and they did me a favor and replaced both bearing on back. WOW, Thank you for replacing both bearings that I already knew were bad because I took it to a real mechanic. I am honestly not sure if the service department is that incompetent or if they are ripoff artists. I had an oil change and tire rotation on (Friday) June 15 at Byers. On (Saturday) July 7, the lug nuts of the rear driver's side tire fell off, as did the tire, while I was driving home on Route 42. Fortunately, for me, I had stopped at a traffic light and was not going 55 mph! I had AAA tow the truck to Mathews Ford-Marion since I live in Marion. The mechanical repairs were $675; estimated body damage to the quarter panel will be $1,000+. The Byers response, "...after speaking to my General Manager, Mr. Chuck Greene, regarding this situation. It is Byers Ford's position that in light of the amount of time which passed between when our service department performed the tire rotation, the incident claimed and the fact that we were not given the opportunity to inspect the vehicle regarding the claim prior to repairs (Byers Ford reserves the right to inspect a vehicle for such claimed issues prior to repairs)..." read more

I would give 0 Starts if I could! This is by far the worst experience with any dealership I have ever had. The service department is crooked and will try to rip you off! I recently went in for a scheduled appointment to have my vehicle serviced. When I bought my vehicle I also purchased the Premium Service Plan. If anyone should know what is covered on the plan, it certainly should be the people servicing it, that work for FORD! However, this was not the case. Not only did they charge me for two services that ARE COVERED under the plan, but wanted to argue with me that it was not covered. The gentleman that was helping me plugged the services into his little computer, and it told him it was not covered. Then they provided me with literature from the plan that I purchased to prove their side of things. However, they only gave me the first page of 4! Which I had to look up and print out at home the next day. The missing pages clearly showed that the services I paid for, were indeed covered under the plan. So, I then go back to the dealership, which is another inconvenience in itself because it is not close to my work and I barely made it there before they closed for the day. When I arrived, I showed the workers at the service counter the literature that I printed off. He then wanted a copy of it, like he had never seen it before? Hello? Shouldn't you know? He then proceeded to tell me that he couldn't do anything for me right there and then because their warranty person had already left for the day. OK, then go get the manager and refund my money! Nope, I had to wait for a phone call the next day. When I finally got my answer, they made it out to seem that they were doing me a courtesy by refunding me the money they should have never charged me. They told me that because I wasn't within 100 miles on the odometer of the maintenance schedule listed on the Ford Website that, that was the reason it didn't show up in their computers. What a load of bullsh$t!!! So then it was up to me to remember to make sure i get my vehicle serviced within 100 miles on the odometer for all scheduled maintenance. Sure.....right....so, if i am away on a vacation for instance and I am well before that 100 miles, and go beyond the 100 miles before i return from vacation, what your telling me is....that I am S.O.L.? WOW! Great Business practices! Oh, and I get to wait for a refund check in the mail, up to 10 business days! Are you kidding me!??? When I asked for compensation for their mistake, I was basically told NO, go away. I didn't even get an apology. Nothing! The service manager would not even talk to me. The person I talked to, were the same two who have no clue what they are doing. The same two that said that "I've been in the business 50 yrs". Stay away from this dealership. They will steal your money and hold it hostage when you fight for a refund! So needless to say, I am never going back to this Ford "Crooked" Dealership to buy anything or have anything serviced! They have lost a customer and whomever I can tell about how bad they are! Absolutely Horrible! read more
