    Lobster bisque

Rating: 4.5 Came to try this lobster restaurant located close to the bar harbor area. Its a popular lobster restaurant as it was packed with people when we got there. They have a diner area where they take order and inside seating is. There are also Side truck where they sell deserts and back area where there are lots of outside seatings. We got a special lobster roll and lobster dinner, lobster bisque, blueberry lemonade and blueberry cheesecake ice cream. The lobster roll was pretty good. Flavorful and nice and buttery filled with lobsters. Lobster dinner was good and there were large portions of meat but the lobster was tough to crack and flavor was light and not that sweet compared to some i've had in the area. Lobster bisque was tasty and had good chunks of lobster meats. Blueberry lemonade was ok. Blueberry cheesecake was delicious. Service was good. The sitting area was nice and spacious and large. Overall it's a solid lobster place but may be bit overrated and overcrowded. Food was good but quality of lobster may not be the best. Price is pretty average for lobsters. Not bad but there are better options around.

OMG!!! We went twice in a week because this place was so good. Let's start with the pièce de résistance: lobster nachos. Beyond good -- I was enjoying myself immensely when I saw the little place container in the middle, a tomato sauce which was next level good. The lobster dinner, the fish & chips, and the lobster bisque in the sour dough bread bowl were fabulous. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the gluten free bun on the lobster roll, but otherwise wow! Even the homemade potato slices were great. The ice cream in the boat afterwards when you have no space; all I can say is that you'll find a way. The outside has fun lawn games, and there are heaters amongst the picnic tables. However, it was quite chilly the second visit and we opted to sit inside. The servers were all amazing -- fast, charming, and clearly bought into the location. And I bought their zip up sweatshirt the second time because I want to remember this place!

We had an awesome experience! The lobster was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The outdoor seating area was a great place to relax, with fun yard games that made the visit even better. They also have a full bar with a nice selection of drinks, making it a perfect spot to hang out with friends or family. Great food, great atmosphere, and excellent service--we'll definitely be back!

A great spot for lunch or dinner! I love their house special lobster roll which has a lemon garlic aioli and is served warmed (I actually had this twice while visiting Acadia National Park for a week it is that yummy). Fast, friendly service and super casual dining outside at picnic tables near a wooded area.

Delicious lobster in Bar Harbor! This is definitely worth the hype. Everyone here is kind and friendly, always there with a helpful smile. Fun and energetic atmosphere, it's bubbly and bright. Outdoor seating is available. This is definitely a must stop on your Bar Harbor trip!

Ok, here is the deal. After eating 6 lobster rolls in the last 14 days from different establishments along the Maine coast I can now say that the hot lobster roll at Bar Harbor Lobster Pound takes the number 1 spot. A hardy portion of delicious, sweet lobster pieces on a toasted roll served with house made chips, lemon wedge, and melted butter. The taste of this lobster was just superior to the others. Counter service to order with counter bar service in the back with friendly staff. Large, shaded area with many picnic tables to sit at.

I assumed all lobster pounds were the same until.... We have been in Maine a few weeks now and my wife and our friend have had their share of lobster rolls but this one is in a different class. Big chunks of lobster mixed with just enough mayo to give it some flavor. Service is counter but fast and efficient . You can eat inside but the back area is what it's about. From an amazing setting in the trees to the almost perfect play list of music, to the staff's constantly cleaning up the area .. just way above normal. Oh.. and I don't eat Maine lobster.... The fish tacos were probably the best I have had. Great place and worth the wait or just go early and enjoy a smaller crowd for linner !

In all the places we have travelled, this is probably one of my favorites. The whole place is a vibe. Love it. You can play corn hole, frisbee golf, buy a t shirt, get ice cream from the boat and eat your lobster "in the woods". The food is fantastic...the lobster roll, the fish tacos, lobster dip. This place is so good, we're going again. We don't generally go to the same place twice on vacation, but when it's this good, you go again. Nothing in "downtown" Bar Harbor touches this place. Eat here. Oh yea and the servers were awesome too.

This is genuinely a top 5 eating experience of my life ! the lobster roll with chip combo was so delicious and the ambiance of the outside eating area was such a vibe as well ! summer night looking at the stars with amazing food and not to mention the service was also very friendly and quick.

Unplanned stop for lobster dinner and I can't say enough good things. Speedy, very friendly, the best steamed lobster we had all week, and a super fun vibe w music, string lights, picnic tables, corn hole, etc. Will definitely be back.

Nicest people work here! Such a fun ambiance! Definitely stop here on your way into BH. The coffee with the ice cream is a must try! Their cobbler with blueberry ice cream is heavenly. The lobsters are so fresh! Loved this place.

So good!! This was our first stop for a lobster roll and it did not disappoint. Such a cute outdoor dining space with plenty of seating and heaters. You order your food outside and dine in. We had the classic lobster roll and split a warm blueberry pie with a scoop of vanilla which was excellent. We loved it so much we came back twice during our visit.

Planning a trip in May. Are all the restaurants open in May? Is lobster plentiful in May? Should we maybe change our dates?

Hi Shelly! There are plenty of hard shell lobsters in May but most restaurants do not open until Memorial Day weekend. If you want lots of options, I would wait until memorial day weekend to travel to bar harbor, at the earliest.

Off the beaten tourist path and open year round, PP lives up to the reviews and hype. We made a mistake our first night in Bar Harbor going to a tourist trap and getting a rubbery lobster roll and sad chowder. I did a bit of research online and found Peekytoe and was SO glad for it. While you don't get a water view, but a cute walk down the main drag, it is WELL worth the excursion AND HOW. My husband said his Crabby Patty was the best crab cake sandwich he ever had. I agreed in as I had the cake as an app. I also got a Halibut dish with pickled fiddleheads (a local green I might liken to okra for lack of other reference) and blistered tomatoes. It was moist, well cooked fish, amazing sides with phenomenal heightening elements. We also enjoyed our cocktails immensely. GO if you are a foodie and don't want a lame wannabe roll with some kids grilled cheese sides, DO this spot. SO well worth it. PS to manament - I know you do a brunch. MAKE SURE YOU DO A CRABCAKE BENEDICT. Your crab cakes are divine and with a slight seared crunch. Ideal. You can even do a lemon-fiddlehead or blistered tomato HOLLANDAISE. I'd be IN IN as I am sure most people would. The vinegary elements from the fiddleheads to (I think) my husband's pickled onion atop his crabby patty MADE the CRABCAKES THE STAR.

When asked for the WiFi password at the beginning of the meal, she said "I'll ask" and never got back to us until the end of the meal, when we had to remind her. When taking our orders, she specifically asked if we wanted cold butter or warm butter on our lobster. While my friends wanted cold butter, they got warm. Food was subpar. While the price for lobster here is cheaper than most places, my lobster ended up being very rubbery. Partner ordered a pineapple ginger juice, and it was VERY heavy on the ginger and tasted "off", like drinking kimchi. I didn't care for the sweet potato mash, it did not go with the dish (lobster) at all, but the cucumbers were ok. Portions were uneven. My friends got the same lobster as I did, and yet they got significantly less lobster. Finally, while I know this wasn't a restaurant problem, I feel as they failed to act accordingly. One of my friends went to go to the restroom, and saw a man laying down on the floor. Staff were notified, but the staff seemingly did nothing; we asked the staff for an update and they just shrugged us off (because we were concerned for that man). If you're wanting to try lobster for the first time, DONT come here - spend a little bit extra on more reputable places, because this place was not it.

From my first time here five years ago to 2 weeks ago when I was last here, it has not changed. I came here with my family and dog, and like many places in the area, it is dog friendly when sitting outdoors. Shortly after taking our orders, the appetizers came out quick. The clam chowder, lobster stew and calamari all great choices. I also liked how there was a big portion for appetizers. For the entree, I had the lobster carbonara and the portion was so big I only ate half of it. My son had the Lobster Newberg and he said it was excellent. It was a motivating factor to visit the establishment, enjoy a lovely meal in a lovely town, and tip heavily. You claim to be a culinary source of authority. I think it's great that you own a Subway franchise in New York City, but I might hesitate from throwing around the word 'chef' too haughtily. I mean just because one wears a cowboy hat does not mean one owns cattle, am I right? Perhaps there were dishes on the menu that one could argue were overengineered, but they tasted great! And consider that you have no idea where in the culinary journey their chef is, nor what the market needs or will bear in Bar Harbor. The place was packed. Service was great. Food was divine! On a Tuesday night. Maybe next time you visit a restaurant, leave your Michelin yardstick in the trunk of your broomstick, and simply relax. Or possibly return to Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop, another establishment you experienced through your Vantablack-colored glasses and blew up on this site. I'm sure they would zealously rent you another bike if you promised to venture into Acadia and get lost. Cheers!
