I continue to get some of the best coffee and service at this place. Anytime I get a chance to drive through for my soy chai and chocolate croissant, I do. They are always friendly, fast service (depending on what was ordered in front of me, mini-van full of folks and their special "half half decaf triple"....augh) and right on each time. I i've been to this coffee place three times and each time I've had a bad experience. Overall the guy behind the counter never smiles never says hello and never acts like he's interested in helping. He's short and he's abrupt and he's pushy. Today he demanded I put a mask on before even talking to me. Clearly sitting in my car I was well over 6 feet away from him. He was incredibly rude. He could've said kindly, gosh I really would appreciate it if you put your mask on and I would have immediately done this. Instead, I felt like a sergeant was demanding something of me. I have driven to Burger King, Amy's Drive through, almost every burger place around and nobody has demanded that I wear a mask while I talk to them from my car into their tiny window. I felt so put off. I will never return. PS, their coffee is always cold. This should not be happening in one of the nicest counties in the entire country. This employee should be kind and generous and open and warm. Instead, I was made to feel like I was a bad person and I was not happy with his attitude. How rude! I was in New York and I was so shocked to see that nobody was wearing a mask. Nobody. I believe in masks and I wear them all the time. But I was very angry at his attitude. He should be fired for treating me and probably others, so poorly. read more

The last couple times we've tried it, we ended up tossing out the coffee, hot chocolate, breakfast sandwich and even the oatmeal. It's a shame because it's so convenient and the staff has always been so nice. I hope it dramatically improves, and soon. read more

Real caramel latte has outdone my go-to caramel macchiato at Starbucks. Strong, sweet, yet decedent because of the toastiness of the caramel. Mmm. I never written a review before but I feel strongly about it. This place used to be off the hook, but it lost it's charm. The old owners Sam and her brother are gone, they changed staff, and drink quality is poor. Their mate seems different and almost watered down, a while back their bread was stale and I tossed it away, and when I tried their whipped cream; it left an oily layer I had to wipe off my lips. Makes me sad knowing the faces whom left a smile on my face are now gone.Sadly it will be my last visit to cable car. read more

Whatever happened when this business changed ownership it went downhill steadily. It seems as if none of them care what your order looks like or whether you get the correct one. Since the change of ownership I went by at least 3 to 4 times because the place is convenient that helps me during my morning commute. but I don't want to continue to spend $8 to $10 to get breakfast and a cup of chai tea to constantly get the wrong order or be told they are out of items. It feels like the owners just don't care. The quality of the drinks are horrible. The new staff STILL hasn't gotten it together. Stopped by and got some caffeine one morning. I could hear the cashier ripping into the barista for not making my drink as requested. She then turns to me to give it to me thinking I didn't understand what was said in Spanish. Ummm....no. Requested a remake. The drink was less then average and a bit pricey but it was super convenient and there was no line. But "meh" is my overall review of it. read more

Watch your change there. * after writing the above i went back one more time and experienced the same short changing for a large coffee, gave her a $20.00 got change for a $5. I live near here and really only go for the breakfast burritos and am not a regular customer. However, I have to say that the breakfast burritos they are selling now are totally inedible. They were always microwaved so not that great but they changed suppliers a few months ago and they are now awful. The burrito sticks to the paper and it's just not a quality food item. I seriously challenge anyone working at this place to actually eat one of their breakfast burritos. I have tried three times now and couldn't finish any of them. read more

Asking for cash-back is a fraud?? Really? One morning I needed to cross the bridge and did not have cash on me, so as I stopped to get coffee I asked nicely if they gave cash-back. They told me "no" and i happily went on with my coffee. I went back today and Samantha the manager told me I am not allowed back because what I did was considered fraud. Really? Just because i quit working there i guess i'm not wanted and I get lame excuses to not be able to go back and get a cup of coffee. I still usually enjoy the coffee here, but I'm getting pretty tired of showing up to see that they have closed at least 45 minutes before their posted hours say they close (which change a lot as it is too). I don't care if they want close at 3, but at least give people a heads up. It's seems like a fair amount of things have gone downhill in the past couple of years. Too bad. Not sure if I'll continue to be a regular, which makes me sad. read more

I was prodded by my kids recently to stop at this partilcular location to get my first coffee of the day. I was pleasantly suprised at the quality of coffee...and the excellent service! Despite a downpour outside that resembled a great flood, an attendant from the Cable Car came running out to take our order (umbrella in hand) while we were waiting patiently in line. Who is a coffee-lover here? Well, let me tell you... I am a coffee finatic. It almost feels like I can't function without a delicious cup of coffee... The only thing I order here is the Real Caramel Latte. I've tried caramel lattes in several places, but the one at the Cable Car Coffee Company is DIFFERENT. Words can't describe the first reaction I had when I first tried it. It has a perfect amount of sweetness, unlike other caramel lattes. It tastes like AUTUMN. Something about it eases my soul and warms me inside. If you're ever going from Marin to San Francisco, I highly recommend you to try it! I was waiting in mine at 12:30 to buy a cup of coffee. I waiting approx 8 mins when a employee came outside to tell me they were shutting down 30 minutes early.
