These are the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. That is saying a lot. I have eaten a lot of fish tacos. We are visiting the Austin, Lampasas area to watch the eclipse in a few days and boyfriend who lived in Austin a decade ago wanted to take a tour of the best places he had lunch while he worked here. That is why we are at Cabo Bob's. This place is hopping with a young professionals and working people. The staff is quick and polite and we got fresh food fast. I especially liked the mango salsa. The tortillas are heated/cooked or whatever you call it on a round heating plate fresh... I'm sure the other dishes are fantastic too. read more

On today's first visit to Cabo Bob's, I really enjoyed my grilled chicken with white rice on a smoky cheddar burrito. I enjoyed it so much that I was halfway through it before I noticed that it wasn't the shredded pork with brown rice I had ordered. Something must have gone sideways with their assembly line system, but who am I complain when I have finally found the burrito joint of my dreams? The burritos are fresh, tortillas made right in front of you, delicious, if today was an indication, and BIG. And the price is more than fair, especially for the quality and quantity you get. I get annoyed at the proliferation of $13-15 half-assed burritos in this overpriced town. And they have an interesting collection of sodas, Cabo Bob branded. We had just landed from our trip from Mexico and we wanted something quick .... Cabo Bob's was on our way home and decided to stop! I saw a line and though it was a good sign and sure enough it was! The burritos were huge and tasty! It's like Chipotle but Cabo Bobs has real tortillas and with flavor! I would of taken a picture but I was so hungry :) It's a great place. My family and I decided to pick up Cabo Bobs after visiting the University of Texas. My husband placed the order online while we were on campus. By the time we walked to our vehicle and drove to Cabo Bobs our order was ready. I noticed that they had outside seating. After picking up our food we drove home. I ordered the Nachos Brisket and was able to make it how I wanted it. It included tortilla chips, brisket, brown rice, black beans, fresh onions, tomatillo salsa, guacamole with a chipotle crema. The queso for the nachos was on the side as well as the chipotle crema. This was good because it didn't make the nachos soggy. After opening the container adding queso and chipotle crema on the nachos I tried them. The nachos were tasty. I could taste the brisket when I was able to get some on a chip. The chips were strong and thick which is great when you are adding ingredients on top of them. The mix of the other ingredients in the nachos made a good meal. It was enough for two servings if one serving was too much. Overall it was fast and easy service with a tasty meal. read more

The pork (Carnitas) burrito it my "go to" choice at CB's. Although, I have tried all of their proteins in burritos. They make their burrito & taco tortillas fresh. The mango salsa with a splash of lime juice goes on everything I eat here. Awesomeness ‍ This is by far the best burrito that I have tried in Austin. Note: If there is one better, please let everyone know. They are huge and I can usually get a couple of meals out of a burrito. Like what other yelpers have described this place, it's like a Chipotle 2.0 setup. They make their own tortillas in front of you! I got the brisket burrito with the cilantro tomatillos tortilla. The thing that sets it apart is the freshly made tortilla that you get to choose the batter and see them make in front of you. It was the perfect amount of chewiness! The employees there were very rude to my girlfriend and I (we are regulars at this location). We forgot to get our cards stamped at the register when paying, and when we went back to ask for a stamp , right after setting our food down, they gave us a gen Z and looked at us like we were from a different planet. The service here is usually really good, and I am just extremely disappointed as I love the food here. The line workers also had some attitude after they made a mistake (mixed up our orders with another customers), after politely correcting them, they became rude. You can order from a menu or go down the line and order as you go and they have burritos, salads, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, etc. They have flavored tortillas, which just elevate the burrito. I also love the mango salsa. All my friends know I love CB's and I've turned dozens of friends (and half my department at work) onto Cabo Bob's. Their queso and guacamole are great and the chips are actually sturdy so you can dip them. I hate flimsy chips. Other than the flavored tortillas, mango salsa, thick chips, and mango salsa, the other key highlight for me is the mint tea. Everything tasted fresher :) I decided to build my own burrito & got Smokey Cheddar flavor as my choice of tortilla & Shredded Pork as my choice of meat. It was really cool seeing them press the dough into a tortilla - that's when you know they make it fresh! The mango pico topping is life-changing - the cucumber in it balances the meat and cheese out. The process was like chipotle, where you tell them what you want & they add it in. There is a reason why this place is constantly teeming with students. I would say this Cabo is the superior version of Chipotle, worth walking the extra few blocks from campus. You can't really go wrong with anything of their food options - though their burritos are legendary. Many meat options to choose from, would recommend their fried fish. And from there, the rest of their topping options are plentiful, I would recommend the baja beans and the mango pico! All the employees are wonderful, the restaurant is super clean and lively. Cabo Bob's is alternative to Chipotle and boasts massive portions for their orders. I've purchased a burrito both times, and I think the VALUE is definitely there. You could easily make two meals out of one burrito with all their toppings. That being said, I have unfortunately had two really mediocre burritos. The rice is awkwardly stuffed to one end of the burrito, and the flavors of the meat and veggies isn't very pronounced - fairly bland. The staff was polite and it is definitely a busy atmosphere. Cabo Bob's is somewhere I'd go if I need to get full and not spend too much doing it, but I'd never choose to go for taste alone. read more

I'm giving this location 3 stars down from 4 because I can't seem to forget that one time when I pointed to which tortilla I wanted and was scolded by the staff for having my hand above the sneeze guard. I'm petty here! But the sneeze guard here is very low and this was before COVID so it ain't my fault just don't treat me like a child! So from that event on, I've just been paying the extra delivery fee to get my burritos delivered through third-party apps, and every time I want to come here in person there is never any parking even when school is out in the summer. The burritos here are pretty good. I think better than Chipotle and Freebirds. The price is petty good too and if you are a student you guys get a better discount so students should go here and save some money. I know when i was younger I survived on these types of taqueria/burrito places because they can easily make a couple of meals or even 3. They also have a location on anderson lane which I go to more often in person just so I won't suffer the PTSD of being yelled at. read more

I can't imagine my life before Cabo Bob's. What was I doing with my burrito life??? I am in LOVE with their ancho chili tortilla. Their buttermilk and chilantro lime is pretty good too. I just love the ancho chili tortilla because it gives a unique rich flavor and depth to all the rest of the ingredients. Watching them make the tortillas right in front of you when you order (each order) is pretty cool too. PRO-TIP: get the tacos so you can order all 3 flavors of tortilla to try them out or you're indecisive like me! You can definitely taste the freshness of all their ingredients. Went here on a Friday night after work, partly because the line was out the door. I looked at the line and realized that nearly every customer looked like they were in or just out of UT. That should have even my first clue. I ordered a fish burrito on an ancho tortilla. It was ok at best. The toppings were all doled out as if I was at Chipotle. A scoop of each thing, glopped on without paying much attention to where it was on the tortilla. The fish was cold, overcooked, and soggy. Burrito was bursting at the seams, which is probably why the college kids seem to like it. Because the ingredients were thrown on without being spread around, I got a bite that was all lettuce, a bite that was all pico de gallo, and a bite that was all...JALAPEÑOS. It was pretty bad. Hungry as I was, I threw away about half of it. The redeeming menu item was the queso. It wasn't great compared to other quesos in Austin, but it did have some flavor. Chips were super greasy, which might be explained by the fact that the cashier was scraping the bottom of the chips dispenser to get my serving. Queso nowhere near enough to get me back there. There are so many great places in Austin to eat tacos. Choose one of those. read more

My wife and I were walking around admiring the unique and interesting murals in the NW area of UT Austin and decided to have lunch at Cabo Bob's Burritos. The parking lot was completely full so luckily we arrived by foot and inside found a long line of people waiting to order. This is a place where you walk up, order, pay, and take your food with you for either take out or sit down. It's a great way to feed hungry college students being next to UT Austin. The menu is basically about building your own burrito or taco. Looks simple but with all the selection of ingredients it can be overwhelming ... however they have prebuilt selections to help you out. I was one of those people and selected the Baja Fish Tacos. The tortillas are made there front and fresh. As you slide down to pay you see your meal get made in front of you like an assembly line. No alcohol is served here which may explain why half the orders were for takeout. We found a place inside to sit but there were available outside patio seating some with dogs with them. It's a nice mostly younger crowd with few parents. The tacos were amazing and enjoy both. The fish was tasty mixed with Cabo's predefined ingredients and being full sized they filled me up. I was not alone where noticed many others ordered it too. It was an excellent choice of eatery for lunch and afterwards went back to search for more murals. If you were to ask me on a surface level what Cabo Bob's is to me, I'd tell you it's simply my favorite burrito spot. But if you were to ask me what Cabo Bob's means to me on a deeper level, I'd say the love I have for it is like no other. It holds a dear, very special place in my heart, and I love it so much. All that being said, the burrito I got from this incredible establishment last Friday evening was nothing short of perfect. Let me walk you through my burrito order. First, I start with the smokey cheddar tortilla. (Although, I've tried all four of their magnificent tortillas, and I truly can't pick a favorite--smokey cheddar and cilantro tomatillo are my top two!) Next, I add cilantro lime white rice, which they always serve in a hefty portion. Then, I go for a small amount of black beans and for protein: chicken! While I chose chicken this time, their fish is incredible, as is their steak and brisket. When it comes to toppings, I say load me up! I get pico, cilantro, guac, extra lettuce, and my absolute favorite topping: mango pico! One of the best parts of Cabo Bob's is their fantastic array of sauces. I've tried several, but right now I'm loving a squeeze of lime juice inside my burrito, paired with their Chipotle Crema and the Red 66 Xxtra Hot Sauce. This combination adds the perfect smoky and creamy flavor, bringing all the ingredients together like a harmonious song. This burrito is always worth the out-the-door line at Cabo Bob's. And you must get chips and queso. Their tortilla chips are crisp, warm, thick, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The queso? Creamy, gooey, and oh-so-cheesy. It's heaven--pure heaven. The burritos here are good. For the style of burrito that they are, they're great. The ingredients are top notch and their tortilla (flour tortilla) game is on point with 4 distinct selections to choose from. The burritos here aren't really my thing but my family loves them. I typically go with the fish tacos on ancho tortilla and am never disappointed. My only nitpick is that that quality of corn tortilla is lacking and doesn't make it a real option here. I say it's a nitpick because only a handful of places do not have the same issue. Aside from the food, the people that work here are always fantastic. Professional, polite, and genuinely friendly. More than happy to come here for this reason and the couple of times I've had any issues they resolve them quickly and with a smile. I concur with any good compliments you've read here regarding the food and service. That, however, is not why I'm here. "Not the food?" You say? "Not the service?" you inquire? "Then what is it?" you demand! I'll tell you what it is. The bathrooms. Sure they're single occupancy (which is the best when they're free and the worst when there's a line) but god dammit are the acoustics incredible. I don't know if it's the tile or the high ceilings or the combination of the two along with an ancient aural spell cast within those walls. Don't believe me? Next you go and lock that door behind you sing or whistle a tune. You will be amazed. I went in semi-ashamed fat guy just about to stuff some more food down my gullet and came out feeling like Luciano Pavarotti. $12 bucks got me a totally unwarranted ego boost that carried me through the week along with some tasty fish tacos on the side. Recently, I've been hearing more about how great this place is. My sister and boyfriend decided to take me here to try it again. The food was fresh and delicious. There is plenty of variety in both meat, tortillas, salsas, and veggies here. They offered local craft sodas, and the food came in a very large portion. There was parking available. Love love love Cabo Bob's! I usually get the custom fried fish bowl. I ask for the fish on the side so that it doesn't get soggy. Once you add all the toppings, it's a pretty hefty amount of food. I've gotten burritos in the past too, which are ginormous (probably bigger than my arm...). I just opt for the bowl since it's easier to eat. You can ask for 2 smaller tortillas on the side with the bowls. All the flavors are good, you can't go wrong. It's a small parking lot and on the edge of the UT campus, so it gets pretty busy with long lines during peak hours. I usually just order online and pick it up. Don't forget to ask for a punch card! I've gotten 2-3 meals from the punch cards alone. Great service too! I've gotten my order wrong once in the past, and the manager was quick to rectify it, which I appreciate. read more
