The food was good, and I loved the option to build your own burrito or choose from one of the combinations listed on the wall. What's really neat about this place is that you can simply point to what you want instead of yelling over the line. It makes it much easier to see and understand all the available options. Although there was a long line on a Saturday, it moved fairly quickly. The restaurant was a bit busy, so we decided to eat outside in the side seating area. Service was ok, food was not good at all. I ordered a grilled chicken burrito with black beans, white rice and toppings. The chicken was bland and oddly chewy. I actually couldn't give it more than a few bites before disposing of it. I also ordered a fish taco with corn tortilla and toppings. I realize that I had very high expectations for this place because of the name "Cabo" being in it and the story about Baja California. The fish seemed to be previously frozen breaded fish which lacked any flavor. I expected fresh battered fish and this was very disappointing. The line moved fast but then the workers would get stuck. I also asked the lady at the cash register for a bag and she responded to me that there were bags "over there" for me to grab myself as she handed me a bag. They have an array of toppings to choose from that you can always add onto a present menu option if you'd like. Their mint sweet tea is a must and if tea isn't your jam they have freshly squeezed lemonade. The place is super casual and you get your table after you've ordered. During lunch and dinner the line can get long but it moves quickly so don't be discouraged! Same goes for the seating. If you're pressed on time you can also order take out! As a 1st time customer, through a referral. I decided to try this place out. My experience was not good. I went at lunch time, not knowing how busy they are. With that being said, I went in with three different orders to be placed. Once again this was my 1st time here. When placing my order I wasn't met with any smiling faces. I was met as if I was cattle getting rustled . I told them that it was my 1st time, but no empathy was shown. I was rushed and felted as if I was a inconvenience to the people working the line. I showed them the orders that my Co workers requested. All the orders were missing something. I felt completely stupid and felt that I wasted $37.00 . The portions were small in the steak bowl. I would recommend that if you have a customer who tells you that it's their first time at your establishment, that you all be kind and not rush them and make them feel like they're a problem. read more

Went here for a quick lunch after visiting the Austin Aquiurum with a friend and two little babies. The line goes by super fast, and I love how their tortillas are made fresh to order right in front of you. I got the chicken bowl with their Baja bean and cilantro crema sauce. Everything was so flavorful and so fresh. It's like an elevated version of Chipotle with better options and far more flavorful ingredients. I will for sure go back to try more menu items. read more

First timer visiting Cabo Bob's but it will not be my last. I met a bud here for lunch, and full disclosure I did not know CB's even existed. Arriving at 12:15 for lunch I was immediately taken aback by the order line. No worries it's a well run assembly line that only bogs down briefly for multiple take out orders. They do allow you to call ahead and pick up next door. Tacos reign here but they also offer nachos, salad, and bowl options. I ordered the number 3 Baja fish tacos. CB's is not shy regarding portions as I barely got through 3 stuffed tacos each with 2 pieces of fish. Next time I'll request less cabbage and add jalapenos. If you need a sugar fix they offer Mexican Coke as well as fountain drinks, and Waterloo seltzer. Seating is not intimate at all as you are elbow to elbow with other patrons. You come here to quaff tacos not mingle (LOL). There is a patio for dining Al fresco, if the weather is cooperating. burrito making skills? 12/10! after 3 years in austin, i finally made it to the infamous cabo bobs. there was a full line, but it moved pretty quickly! i did not know they made their tortillas in house so that was super cool! i normally never get burritos and go straight for a rice bowl but i was told I must give the burritos a chance. i got pork and added almost every topping/condiment they offered. I was betting that my tortilla was going to break when they wrapped it all together but to my surprise, they wrapped my XXL burrito up easily. Now lets talk about taste, the pork was tender and juicy, sauces were flavorful and unique. I liked the ranch and hot sauce. All i can say is, I get the hype now. I've heard so many good things about Cabo Bob's and I was so excited to finally try it. And my expectations were more than met. I love that you can choose what flavor tortilla you want and it's literally made right in front of your eyes. You can even choose more than one flavor and they'll combine it for you. Everyone's always told me to get the fried fish, which I did. It was delicious day of, but then if you have leftovers, I feel like it doesn't save as well so the fish does get a bit on the dry side. If you're planning to have leftovers, maybe pick another meat. You can customize whatever ingredients you want inside and they do not skimp at all, these burritos are huge. I was able to get two very filling meals out of one burrito. The chips and queso are also so good. And they actually give enough queso for you to dip all your chips generously with. Not to mention, it's actually pretty cheap here. Especially when you compare it to like chipotle and especially if you can get more than one meal out of it. read more

Love Cabo bobs! This location is great. Went on a Thursday evening after I had just gotten an eye exam. The line was LONG. So you know this place is popular. I don't mind that much though. Ingredients are always delicious and on point. If you get chips, you get free refills on them. And the chips are so crunchy, probably one of the better tortilla chips from a burrito place in my opinion. And the guac! Super green and fresh. And even if you get a small chips and guac, you get a lot! It was enough for me AND my husband to share! Only reason I took off one star is because the women who "wrapped" my burrito did kind of a shoddy job because I could see it wasn't fully wrapped & slightly open when she was wrapping it up in tin foil. That ain't I had to constantly keep yelling and repeating myself about which ingredients I wanted bc it was loud in there & the barrier (although I understand the need for it) didn't help so I had to stand on my tippy toes to get above the barrier to say my order again. We stopped by Cabo Bob's for dinner this evening on our way to an event at the HEB Center in Cedar Park. First time there, selection recommended by the grandkids. It was good! The place is a "walk-through order what you want and walk down the line as it's prepared" place, which is good and bad. It's slow. The biggest problem we had was the 1/4 plexiglass shields separating us from the employees which made communication tedious. For first-timers there, things were not instinctual, where are the napkins, where is the silverware, etc. We managed... The food was very good... chips and queso, just to try it... chips were nice and crisp, the queso good and hot. The fish tacos were to die for, fish fried perfectly (although it took 15 minutes to get the tacos), and the veggies, guac, and cabbage in the tacos were good, and the three tacos each had a different flavor of Cabo Bob's tortillas, all of which were good. Other members of the group had the steak burrito, the chicken burrito and a "do it yourself" burrito. I tasted the beef burrito, so I can vouch for that. It was good. The brown rice seemed a bit under-cooked, but not a fatal flaw. The other burritos were reported to be good as well. Brief comment on the two sauces available... we preferred the regular 66 Hot Sauce, the 66 Smokey Habanero sauce wasn't much different. Not sure where you'd go to get real heat at Cabo Bob's if you're a hot pepper fanatic, like me! LOL For what it is, Cabo Bob's is a good deal... good food, decent price... for what it is (a walk-through make your burrito place), it holds its own. We'd good back if in the neighborhood. My favorite spot for Fish tacos has got to be "Cabo Bob's". As most of you know I am a "California refugee". Here to retire, not convert the entire state . But since leaving I noticed fish taco restaurants are not as popular as back home. So whenever I get the urge for a fish taco, which is like daily, I venture over to Bob's. The meat is always fresh. They have an amazing press for their tacos and burritos. It's just great. We usually get the #3, three fish tacos for less than $10. I built my own burrito with pork, rice, black beans, cheese, peppers, onions, and pico de gallo, and it was bursting with flavor. I found PLASTIC bag remnants in my burrito almost ate it and realized it was plastic. The burrito was a mess literally open and not fully wrapped. My friend loves Cabo Bob's, he claims it's a better, local version of Chipotle. I was a bit incredulous, sometimes he exaggerates. I had some time for lunch and he suggested to meet up at Cabo Bob's. It must be pretty good because the place was busy for lunch. I ended up getting one of their specialties: Baja fish tacos. I added guacamole but I skipped out on the queso-it felt weird of me to combine CaliMex and Tex-Mex. My buddy also got the chips and guac. The weather was nice so we sat outside and I was juggling all my food, drink and all the hot sauce cups that I had; I was testing them out. Cabo Bob's is like a chipotle but a bit better with a larger variety of changes. The first thing you choose when ordering a burrito is the tortilla. There's 4 options available with buttermilk flour, ancho chili, smoky cheddar, and cilantro tomatillo. I got the cilantro tomatillo because I told myself something green must be healthier... right?! I like that they have a machine to press the tortilla and then they cook it right in front of you as well! Can't get any fresher than that for a fast food place. They have a variety of proteins including fish, pork, brisket and chicken. I went with the brisket and thought it was just okay but it seems like I need to come back to try the fish! If you ask for extra rice/beans you can really get the burrito to the size of a small baby and pass for maybe 2 meals instead of one! I had never had this place on my radar, always opting for Freebirds and Chipotle, but when my coworkers kept going to the Shoal Creek one by our offices, I figured it was time for me to scope it out. My husband and I were wowed at the options, the tortillas made right in front of us, and the friendliest staff ever! The parking situation up at this north location was packed, and the seating was a full house on a Thursday lunch time, but there were outdoor tables too, we'd have sat there if it weren't raining.
