Bogo happy hour margs
Karlee B.

Such a wonderful location but just such sub par food and drinks. The staff are pretty friendly, the runners were really great and cleaning the table and clearing plates, servers not overly attentive. Their bogo margs is kind of lame. You have to ordered the same flavor and have to get both at once and can't stagger their delivery to your table. And their margs are alright, not the best. We got chicken tenders and the tres amigos platter. Between three it was a good amount of food but unsurprisingly very gringo versions. The tenders were basic frozen tenders and the dips straight out of jars. But got the job done.

Came here for my friends bday!! We came after a bust ride! The inside was dim lit but has a cool interior!! Kinda small but it works!!! I only ordered a drink and must I say that thing was as big as my head!!! Will say it was a lot. So make sure to take precaution when getting the drink!! But also my friend got their drinks so fast and mine took a while but still was delicious :p The dude was cool. Sorry if the comment I made, made you put your cap :( but anyways cool dude. I will see, though with the restrooms were very tiny

I don't even know where to start. This place was extremely unprofessional and honestly just straight up racist. We went in and my friend showed his ID by holding it up (which is not uncommon at all), and instead of just asking him to hand it over or calmly explaining anything, the guy immediately told him "get out." No explanation, just aggressive for no reason. When my friend asked why, he started yelling "get out" over and over again. As we were leaving, things got even worse. The bartender yelled "that's why you never met your dad" at my friend... which is completely out of line and disgusting, especially considering my friend is Black. At that point it didn't even feel like a misunderstanding anymore, it felt straight up racist.

Always a fun time at Cabo Cantina! Stopped in for dinner last night before hopping on the Holiday Lights cruise at Davey's Locker for the boat parade. They always have the best deals on drinks, 2 for the price of 1! Full bar with tons of custom options. It was a fairly slow night and the service was very speedy. Got our drinks fast and food came out hot and quick. I got the Cabo chopped salad with chicken. It always hits the spot with fresh lettuce, deliciously seasoned chicken, lots of toppings, and a nice tangy dressing. The fiancé got the fajita plate with steak so we could share our meals and have 2 types of meat. The steak was cooked perfect and had so much flavor! I was scraping it off the piping hot dish at the end. The bell pepper and onions were delicious and tender. All of it paired perfectly with the rice, beans, guac, sour cream, and cheese of course. This place always feels like a vacation and their holiday decorations are so over the top in the best way!

Cabo Cantina in Newport Beach leans more into a party spot than a traditional restaurant, but the food still holds its own if you know what to order. The atmosphere hits you first. Loud music, packed tables, TVs everywhere, and a crowd that's there to drink and hang out. This place stays busy, especially at night, and works best if you go in expecting energy instead of a quiet meal. It's built for groups, not solo dining. The menu sticks to classic Mexican bar food. Tacos, burritos, nachos, and fajitas make up most of what you'll see. The portions come out large and filling, which fits the setting. Popular picks like carne asada fries, shrimp tacos, and loaded nachos stand out as solid choices. Flavor-wise, the food is good for what it is. Nothing overly complex, but seasoned well and satisfying after a long day at the beach or a night out. The fish tacos bring a lighter option, while the burritos and fries lean heavier and more indulgent. Where this place really separates itself is value. The 2-for-1 happy hour deals and large drinks draw most people in, and the food complements that experience instead of competing with it. Service depends on how busy it gets. During peak hours, things slow down and feel less organized. When it's calmer, the staff keeps things moving and stays friendly. This is not the place for a refined dining experience. You go here for loud energy, big portions, and a fun group setting. If you walk in with that mindset, Cabo Cantina delivers.

This place is great! The drinks are HUGE but very inexpensive. The food was delicious, and the service was also good. Only thing is the bathroom is super small and awkwardly shaped so it makes navigating that area difficult

Tried to go to happy hour but didn't even get drinks from happy hour bc the large margs were a better deal for more alcohol lol. This is definitely a fun place for friends/group/date to be downtown and a casual fun vibes. The food was good, nothing crazy good but definitely not bad. The tacos were a little dry but the added salsa helped. Our server Moira was so funny and helpful and a great worker!!

I had a very disappointing experience at Cabo Cantina. The bartender completely ignored us while serving other people who arrived after we did. It honestly felt discriminatory and extremely unprofessional. On top of that, he was also being mean and disrespectful to the busboy, which was very uncomfortable to witness. No one should be treated that way. Because of this experience, I will not be returning.

Stopped in for margaritas and chips. The margaritas are huge with lots of flavor options. It was definitely a must try after sitting on the beach. Fun decorations inside and very open place as far as sitting goes find the first spot and grab it. The service was great our waitress was really nice!

The beach-iest bar scene in all of Newport Beach! They have the friendliest staff serving margaritas that can be ordered in all flavors; make sure to upgrade to a Mega Marg. The food is delish; steak fajitas are my favorite on the menu. I sat at the bar where Leslie provided the best vacation experience that the Balboa peninsula can offer. Thank you Cabo for all of the good vibes!

Pretty fun spot in Newport!…read more Good food, reasonable prices even on the high side. Good drinks, nice brunch, friendly service. Perfect ambiance for any occasion really. However, it is an especially great place to get your NFL on! Honestly breakfast is my favorite here, but the pizza is REALLY really good!! Upscale bar food, I think one would say...? Trash Hash Tater Tot Skillet, come on now!! I don't like fried eggs, but they gladly switched it out to scrambled. Comfy, hearty and cozy in my belly, and at a reasonable price of around $13. Want something sweet and breakfasty? Try the Churro Waffle Bites! Pretty dang sweet, but share that and also have it with something savory, can't go wrong plus you've got to try it! Pizzas have a wide variety too... Detroit style is pretty good and so is the Cauliflower Crust option. Also the sliders for the appetizer, tender beef dripped with 1000 Island on a Hawaiian roll. Service is excellent and the clientele is as well. Fun atmosphere! Parking is... well, it's Newport Beach.... but you'll find something! Cheers!!!

For some reason on Sundays no table service so I was told to go to the bar or use a QR code to order . The app is not friendly to use so I went to the bar . The " bar tender " woman had such a huge attitude and couldn't care less if I ordered anything or not . Very bad attitude. The tables outside on the patio were dirty ..., my beer glass had lip stick marks on the rim . Also the food I ordered ( burger ) was tasteless . ( my opinion ) I will definitely NOT recommend or will I be back to Cruisers .

True classic marina spot. Being right on the water sets the tone immediately. We had some of the…read morelargest oysters I've ever seen, super fresh and worth it. The Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich was juicy, loaded with avocado and pickles, and hit exactly how you want it to. Washed it all down with a beer while watching the boats pass by, perfect Sunday setup. Service was great. They stayed on top of beer refills and cleared plates quickly without interrupting the flow. The ambience is hard to beat. Sitting right on the water with that marina view makes the whole experience feel relaxed and easy. One of those spots you can hang at for a while and not feel rushed.

I will start with the positive- the staff was friendly Now…read morethe not so great- 1- The steak mashed potato martini. It was a cool idea. The steak would have been better if cut into medallions. It was a very messy chop on the steak, and two of the piece looked as if being held by a string. Also the steak lacked flavoring. 2- The clam chowder had a nice flavor, however we had to send it back three times because it was not even warm. Each time they brought it back out it had a light steam coming off the top, but as soon as we took a spoon on to eat it was barely warm. The fourth bowl came out where the bowl itself was warm and the soup was a bit more on the warm side. I like soup that is it perfectly warm to almost a bit hot you need to blow on it. I questioned if it was exactly safe to eat at the temperature it was being served. 3- The hot chicken sliders and fries. The chicken was warmish. My son felt it was safe enough to eat, but with hesitation. The fries were cold to touch. He ate it all because he was hungry and didn't want to wait for it to be redone. 4- The French onion soup. The flavor was very tasty, but again like the clam chowder was not very warm. The food needs help. I feel like all this food was precooked and just sitting under a warmer. It did not taste like it was freshly prepared and served immediately. It was not busy so not sure why all food was cold to barely warm. Total bill was around $100, and I left there upset at paying that amount for food that was not worth it. I don't like leaving a restaurant and regretting eating out. Such a horrible feeling.

No problem! Let me sharpen that part up. Here we go:…read more I absolutely love Village Inn on Balboa Island, especially in December. It's perfect for dinner with family or friends, followed by a walk to enjoy the holiday lights. In the summer, it's equally fantastic--I love sipping on their amazing martinis or specialty cocktails. You can tell they're made with care! On the food side, I have to rave about their braised beef short rib special--so worth it, even if you don't usually order red meat. Now, the pulled pork sandwich--someone I was dining with is a pulled pork sandwich connoisseur--they order it everywhere they go. And they said, hands down, this might be the best pulled pork sandwich they've ever had--and I have to agree, it was incredible. I've also been for bingo nights, which are super fun. Honestly, it's one of my favorite spots in Newport!

Came here on a Sunday and was asked by the host if I wanted inside or outside. I said outside and…read morehe said no problem. Then passed us off to a different host - who brought us to a tabel in the back, inside. I mentioned that the first host had said we could sit outside and she said "Oh no, those tables are full" but I had just seen several open... so? It wasn't a huge deal though. We waited a looong time for a waiter to come over and when he did he brought us two waters - one cold and with ice and one very warm with no ice. I have no idea how he got two completely different waters. He apologized for being late and took our order. 45 minutes later - our food shows up (I ordered the salmon sandwich and my mom ordered a bowl of clam chowder). The clam chowder was served in a big bowl but was about a cups worth of soup...lots of empty space in that big bowl... However, my sandwich came with a large piece of plastic in it. I flagged down the manager, who is the only reason this review is getting 2 stars instead of 1, who was very nice, apologized prefusely, told me our meal was on the house, and offered me make me another sandwich. However, I said that I couldn't wait another 45 minutes for a new sandwich so I asked for a caesar salad instead - which he quickly got me. But..this is where bad turns worse. About 80% of the way through my salad, I look down and there's a silver bug walking around my lettuce. This is not a flying bug...it was in the salad. Ugh - I couldn't deal. Since the manager had already told us our meal was comped, we got up to leave but we've worked in kitchens before so wanted to alert the manager. I asked the younger male host at the front to get him for me and he said "oh, I can help you...what's up?" When I explained, he said, "Oh, okay, can you do me a favor and go sit back at your table and I'll send someone over?" Hahaha - no, I can't go sit back at the table with the bug. Geez louise! I told him as such and asked for the manager, who again, was super nice, offered me a gift card to return (which I turned down, I've been put off from this place at this point) but it was kind of him. He handled the situation very well and assured me he was going to go check the lettuce in the kitchen. The manager is the saving grace of this place but honestly, between weird warm water, terrible wait service (we never saw that original waiter again after he dropped off the water and took our order), plastic in one dish and a bug in the other...I'm concerned for the state of their kitchen. We certainly won't be back.
