My 21 year old System went out about 10 days ago as the heat was increasing. A friend referred CABS to me and I called them and set an appt. Brian came out and shared about the Company and checked out my system locations, electrical, T'stat etc. Very thorough. He then presented three System Estimates to me. I made my selection and learned they had an opening two days later to install the multi-component systems in ONE Day! That was shocking! So, two days later the Installation team of Chris and Gregorii came and began to set up areas for their work. They are very personable men and dedicated to their responsibilities and work well together. What a joy when the testing was completed and Chris set up the T'stat, instructed me how to use and the COOL Air began to flow through my vents! So VERY grateful after NO cooling for a week. The Compressor unit is quiet and the cooling inside seems the best I've ever had. CABS just finished the process of replacing our old gas HVAC with a new efficient heat pump HVAC, and we couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience! Peter came promptly and gave us a very thorough and competitive cost estimate, explaining all the different options and ways we could save some money while getting a top notch system. He actually listened to us and was very honest, didn't try to push more expensive products and really worked with us until we were comfortable with our decision. They are SMUD approved contractors, so we were able to get the SMUD rebates, and CABS took care of it all for us! The technicians (Leandro, Andrew, and Michael) were all extremely professional, knowledgeable and efficient, and best of all they were punctual and reliable. They all treated our property like their own, leaving everything clean after they were done. The office ladies Kat and Sukhi were a pleasure to talk to, and promptly resolved a couple of minor issues that came up with paperwork and schedule. Im writing a follow-up review of the CABS installation of a rooftop Lennox heat pump HVAC unit. I previously complained both about the performance of the HVAC unit and follow up by CABS' service tech. CABS reached out to me and quickly installed a heat-strip electrical unit to rectify the problem with the Lennox unit coil freeze-up in low temperatures. Their repair happened promptly & professionally and CABS has assured me that future customers will not have the issues I had with the heat pump poor performance in colder weather (under 40 deg F). I am very much impressed that CABS corrected a problem quickly and is taking action to not have it negatively affect other customers. Its not often that businesses not only admit a mistake, but take action to correct the issue---especially when the problem occurs after the manufacturer's warranty has expired. read more

Bought a 20 yr old house in 2018 and the AC went out within a week. I asked around and a friend directed me to Cabs. The whole process with them is truly top notch professional from beginning to end. The ladies at the desk to the tech that comes to your house always friendly and informative. All receipts are emailed for easy record keeping. I signed up for their Comfort Club of $16 a month which ends up being $192 a year. With that I get twice a year maintenance on my system. They do a thorough job and takes a little over an hour. The biggest advantage is that they will come do a free diagnostic anytime in between with zero service charge. All HVac techs charge you a service fee just to come out. I liked having this peace of mind. They also give you priority appointments and discounts on parts/service. I had to call them out for a dumb fix on my part, (forgot to change the filter) that caused my heater to cease. That visit saved me at least $75. I ding a star for their prices being on the high side. In the midst of my AC dying in July, my realtor sent out an independent guy and he wanted to charge me $175 for a capacitor change which is very common easy fix and one I can do myself. Cabs came after the fact to do my maintenance and I asked out of curiosity how much they charge for the capacitor change and he said $375. Oh I guess $175 wasn't so bad after all. So buyer beware with the estimates. They keep telling me my system is old and could go out at any day now. Ask, research and listen. However you are paying extra for their more upscale services and added overhead vs. say a handyman. You get text updates on your appointments, where the driver is, follow ups on service, emails, invoices etc... It's like the premium you pay shopping at Raley's vs. Walmart. Again, not the cheapest but I think the most professional and up front service. read more

I do not recommend CABS at all. August of 2023 I tried them based on a neighbor's recommendation for AC tune up. The tech claimed I needed a capacitor a the discounted price of $300. I've since found out that capacitors are about $30-40 at a hardware store, and any YouTube video will show you how to install one. Fast forward to July of 2024, and another HVAC company diagnosed my AC issue as the capacitor - again. Found my receipt from CABS and it was less than a year since the original install. I called them and they said it was covered for a year, but even after they would come and diagnose and replace it, there would STILL BE A SERVICE CHARGE of $129! So, even with paying the other company's $79 diagnostic charge, and getting a new capacitor at Ace Hardware, I still come out cheaper. Absolutely not a fan of this company. read more

He was on time, courteous and gave me a thorough explanation of the work that was being done. CABS installed a unit for our home that was too large. I overpayed and regret using them. Their receptionsists are smarmy; I should have seen this as a red flag; insincerity cannot be trusted. If you ask too many questions they get snappy. Some of their workers were very nice but I have been cheated out of a lot of money and I am very upset. I've learned that AC/Heating business are like the stereotypes of used car salesmen. They need to be regulated better. You can complain to the CA Contractors License Board and try to get a resolution. It's awful that customers cannot rely on honesty when it comes to AC services. Look up the size of your home and the tons needed before you agree to installation. read more

Living in West Sacramento, we had used CABS - a local company - for seasonal tune ups on our heater and air conditioner. Having always been pleased with their maintenance services, they were a natural choice when it came time to replace our 18 year system. CABS was really easy to get touch with and responsive, from putting in the online request through their website to their cal to me to schedule the estimate to Nic coming out. Nic was personable, professional and took the right amount of time to explain the pros and cons of each of our options and truly left the decision to us, working to give us accurate estimates for a couple different scenarios. The costs were about what I was anticipating and Nic was able to get us pointed in the direction of some green energy loan options, which we ultimately used to finance our project. Nic and I stayed in touch and as soon as I let. I'd know we were ready to proceed, he explained the next steps and got the ball rolling. The team came out and installed within a week or two (can't remember the details but it was quick) and did a nice job of working in our house. They protected our surfaces, worked quietly when in areas where my husband or I were working from home in, and cleaned up thoroughly after the job was done. That included having a team ever come back and touch up the trim that had been marked up getting some piece of new equipment into our attic. The installer explained all the bells and whistles of our new system thoroughly. The follow up after our system was installed, for permitting to just checking in was solid - professional and responsive. We're very pleased with our new system and certainly the experience of selecting and installing it that CABS provided! read more

My AC went out during the hottest parts of July and Aug. I spent a month without AC researching systems and service companies. Obviously, I trust no one. I had dealt with Paul from CABs the prior year for a onetime checkup. He was very efficient, examined the my system and recommended I replace it. I declined as it was only 12 years old and thought it should last longer. Boy, was I wrong! Less than a year later the system started to fail in multiple ways. I looked at repairing, but it just wasn't worth it. So I got 7 bids from local big name big advertising service companies. I also got a bid from CABs since I had dealt with them before. I learned that home builders put in the cheapest and worst HVAC units and that big name service companies like Beutler are in cahoots. My HVAC system was a Carrier, but in fact was a Heil branded as a Carrier. Yeah, I never heard of them before either! 10 year lifespan. And Beutler did a horrible job on the ductwork which limited airflow to 3 bedrooms. In the end CABs was the best decision to make. The other companies, including Costco, couldn't even figure out (or lied to me) about which refrigerant my system used. This led to additional work in the thousands of $$. Many of the companies like Big Mountain Air in particular tried the bait and switch technique to increase their profits. Sierra Pacific added unnecessary work to their bid. Peter was the only sales person who consistently had the correct answers, saving me thousands and allowing me to have the HVAC system we needed. We ended putting in a higher end Lennox system capable of hospital grade air cleaning. Now I sleep better at night due to lower allergens. Briana, who runs the office, is efficient and follows up as promised. CABs has the best and clearest quoting system by far. CABs also has leveraged modern communications technology very well and that makes service requests, quotes, billing, contract signing and customer feedback work extremely well for the customer. CABs completed all paperwork for Lennox warranty and rebates. The service and install crew is very professional and careful with your home. They were careful to protect my hardwood floors as they worked. They cleaned up 100% of any mess. After system install, I still had trouble in 3 bedrooms. Peter had asked my wife if their were any issues with the system in any particular areas of the house over the years and she mistakenly said "no". When I called Peter back out, post install, he determined the ductwork Beutler installed was preventing proper airflow to those rooms. For an insanely reasonable price, Peter quoted me to fix the ductwork and add 5 return vents in the bedrooms. Everything is working great now. Let's breakdown my rating. Advertisement: "CABS Heating and Air" is professional for a smaller HVAC company. Their scheduling system is incredibly fast and efficient. You get a quick notification (text and via email) throughout the visit. Customer Service: The staffs at the office have amazing phone service. I called "CABS Heating and Air" for a second opinion due to a previous company that I used off google verified. The office took my call into consideration and expedited my request to a manager for a free second opinion. I was not expecting "CABS Heating and Air" to call me back, so as usual I made an appointment with "Bell Brothers." The next day the office notified me that my request has been approve. Workmanship: On 11/9/21, a technician by the name of "Peter" diagnose my furnace. He was very competent, professional, and courteous. Peter explained, the issue was my (gas valve) but parts is back out due to demands. Surprisingly within an hour after Peter left, the office notified me that they have found the part and can have a technician to service my home later that evening. Around 3pm, Kevin arrived to replace my gas valve. He was really polite and wasted no time to get the job done. Within 15 minutes into Kevin arrival, Peter returned to double-check the work. I give Kevin kudos for working diligently and cleaning after himself. Peter took the time to explain today's service along with the warranty. They even made sure the furnace was working properly before leaving. Pricing: As far as pricing goes, I will be honest that there's no difference from calling a big company such as a "Bonney Plumbing, Bell Bros, Beutler Heating, etc." As much as I always enjoy giving the smaller HVAC companies business I am neutral on recommending "CABS Heating and Air." Customers that have a budget won't find much saving in "CABS Heating and Air." At one point I thought I was paying for a Mercedes furnace part (smile). Overall, the experience was great. Integrity: The star deduction falls on this topic. Two small concerns I would like "CABS Heating and Air" to improve on. I tend to notice that companies today do not like acknowledging mistakes. However, I was expecting an apology when Peter broke my drywall frame attempting to get access to the attic. Of course, no one is expecting the company to pay/or fix it but if we can't acknowledge breaking something small. Customers may lose confident that you will acknowledge breaking something big. Secondly, after my service call appointment I received  a summary text. This is before agreeing to have a technician replace my gas valve. According to the texts it states clearly at the bottom. If a customer chooses to enroll in the "CABS Comfort Club" they can save $93.75 on this repair, today. When I inquired about this membership. Your office denied me this promotion. They explained, I needed to enroll as a member first and the discount will apply to a future repair. However, if I enroll today I am only eligible for a $20 discount. So basically, I pay an extra $20 for a membership just to get a $20 discount off. I don't see the saving in that at all. I honestly believe this contradict your company integrity. Maybe, if "CABS Heating and Air" did not plan on honoring these offers. It is best not to send these messages to avoid confusing customers. This will discourage customers from wanting to become a member. read more

Warning: be very careful when you deal with this company. They can sound very nice and professional, but they can do very unprofessional things. The first person I was talking to is their technician Ronnie Correia. All I wanted to do is to remove my existing AC/heating system from my roof and replace it with a new one under floor. He gave me a quote was way way above my imagination (over 20k). Then he walked his way down to $14k. He said he was going to put insulation for me for free (did not mention any rebate that he was taking away from me). $14k is still too expensive in my mind but he said this was the best deal I could get. He gave me a list of charges over the phone and I was not able to understand the details. I just wanted to know how much they charge me. He mentioned one rebate for my AC/heating system. He does not want to lower his price. I agreed with the price and signed the contract online without even read the whole contract. They stick the insulation rebate ($3000) into the contract that I was not aware of until one day, a 3rd party inspection company called me and asked me to sign a paper for rebate. The rebate was $9000 including AC/heating, insulation and panel upgrade (which they never even worked on). The 3rd party took the rebate for panel upgrade off after they know it's a miscommunication. I am working with their management to see if we can resolve this $3000 rebate issue that they never mentioned in the first place and I signed it without reading it (my fault). Side note: they charge my neighbor $3000 for insulation without taking the $3000 rebate. which means it's free for the neighbor after the rebate. Which means this company charge me the same amount of money by taking my rebate and told me it's free of charge for me. What a joke!!! Last week Friday, I was told I should receive a response shortly. I have not heard anything from the management yet. They have super good "customer service": excellent speaker/talker BE SUPER CAREFUL!!!!! Received an email from the company today. They told me the insulation job they did would cost over $8000 normally. I knew they are going to go this route. No need to talk to them anymore. They will get give you a penny back, no matter what!!!! read more
