Enjoyed dinner tonight at the newly opened Cactus Canyon in Argyle. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. It is Tex/Mex but with some unusual offerings. The salsa was excellent and was served very warm, which really added flavor and enjoyment. I had the cheese enchiladas with a nice carne sauce and the option of mexican rice or cilantro rice. I had the cilantro rice which was a nice alternative to normal mexican rice. Also I had the charro beans which were some of the best I have had definitely 5 star. A very generous portion and thick gravy. The Margarita was great. I Highly recommend the Cactus Canyon. 4 1/2 stars only because the queso was a little thick and not very warm. The Case at Cactus Canyon I was driving along the 407 when hunger hit. I needed a fix of Tex-Mex and found the Cactus Canyon. The staff greeted me immediately upon entering the restaurant. Very kind and smiling. The ambiance immediately struck me. The modern contemporary art and deco is well done. I was standing at the intersection of classy and elegant. After I was seated, the waiter wasted no time tending to my request for chips, salsa, and a beer. Already, I felt welcomed and appreciated. The salsa is served warm and has a patented Tex-Mex kick. Chips were not served in crumbs. This was already too good to be true. My suspicions only grew. I was then greeted by the General Manager, Kay Smith, who gave me a tour of the restaurant. My investigation uncovered that Kay is an accomplished chef. Her leadership skill made it clear she was one of the ringleaders. A prime suspect. I ordered the Tacos Al Carbon, which I received in minimal time. A sign that the kitchen is operating like a Swiss watch. My meal was nothing short of WOW!! How could such bold flavor be created? I savored the joy this dish added to my dining experience. After I completed the masterpiece, I was approached by the Bar Manager, Nick, who provided me with a sample of the Chorizo Mac and Cheese. An obvious attempt to take me off the trail. I accepted and happily lost the trail. This was delicious. Everything about this restaurant is amazing. All of my questions were answered, and the case was closed. I discovered what makes this restaurant exceptional. It is the food prep, the decor, and most important, the people. We arrived with a very short window of time to be seated, served and eat. It was approximately 6pm when we walked in and my daughter explained to the host that we needed to leave at 6:30 and we were willing to do take out if that wasn't possible. It was!!! The staff was told at all levels and made it known they were going to accomplish this, which they did. All with an attitude of we're glad you're here and want to make this a wonderful meal. My daughter and her husband are vegetarians and when they ordered something that had pieces of bacon (without realizing it) our waiter quickly informed them so they could make an informed decision. I had an appetizer only and it came out at the same time as everyone else's so we could all eat simutalenously. Of course, we were there for the food and it didn't disappoint. The salsa that came out with the chips was more hearty than we're used to and it was spicy on the back end. The chips were not the thin ones I'm used to and held the salsa. The two enchiladas that we had and the Texican Egg Rolls were delicious, filling and made us want more. It was a little dark in the restaurant but the atmosphere was fun and whie the prices were not high end, the experience was. We can't wait to go again when we have more time to enjoy ourselves. read more

Overall the food is fantastic, service was decent (pretty busy when we went) but it definitely is a bit pricey. We had the Canyon Combo fajitas and it was very good. For the average Joe like us, probably a special occasion place. Definitely worth a try. That's all the good. Now let me share the..well odd.. Its a shame they don't take reservations, but so be it. We had a party of 6 and they bring ONE bowl, they're even small bowls like 20 chips, and ONE salsa. What? Then we ordered 3 apps, including quac and queso and had to ask 3 times to get more chips. How do you serve a party of six one small bowl, then have to ask for more when bring apps that require them is ...well...odd. Then for the shared HUGE combo fajitas, they give 4 tortillas? What? {robably 8 total to start makes more sense. The drinks were fantastic too, but very small. $14 sangria came in essentially a 12 oz cup shaped glass with tons of ice. Similarly for the very tastey not-a-karen rita in a small tumbler. Food portions big, drinks not so much, everything was yummy though. Just an overall, again odd, experience. read more

Hello all! First off, I want to say that the service far exceeds the food quality. I have eaten here twice now with my wife, and both times, Food wasn't perfect the first time, but we believe in second chances :) I want to point out, the reason we have returned is the outstanding service of some of the servers. Emphasis on the servers. They have taken such good care of us and made sure that everything was up to par with our meals and drinks. The drinks were sooooo good! Of the two times we were dined at Cactus Canyon, there is something I think I need to point out in regards to the servers. The poor devils seemed so hell bent on making everything perfect, that my partner and I questioned why they seemed so seemingly oppressed. We noticed this the first time.. A server who is able to be their authentic self and explore their personality in relation to their "serving-style" is paramount, and when one is forced to act like a robot is very obvious. We noticed not just the first time, but the second time as well that the servers seemed on edge as if, in quotes from my wife and I, "they had a gun held to their heads," in some expectance of pure perfection. Our second dining, earlier in this month of March, we noticed one of the female managers, seemed to be very copiously hovering the tables and/or presence of one of the servers. This was an obvious detriment to the quality of the servers ability to do their job. No one likes someone breathing down their neck like a serpent. I hate to admit this, but it seems like management seems very hellbent on micromanaging the staff and it's absolutely obvious. This statement alone is our one and only complaint. Sure, the food could be less greasy and sure, the drinks could be cheaper.. It is the obviously just over zealous management that turns us off.. Just an observation! I don't want to indicate anyone specifically or cause any issues.. Again, the overall service and atmosphere of Cactus Canyon is amazing! It just seems that management is overreaching their expectations of the servers and trying too hard to be perfect. We will definitely be back! Had the off menu skirt steak. What.....the best I've ever had. Covered in Chimichura the beef was so tender it could have been rib eye. Loved the fried zucchini strips. This is unfortunately a miss for the Marty B restaurants. The food and drinks are overpriced. For an upscale Mexican restaurant, they have only a few Tequilas, and none that are notable. They have steak on the menu, and none steak knives available. Also, the veggie quesadillas are not cooked correctly, they had cold veggies inside. They need major improvements for me to return. What's worse is the service is not up to the Marty standard. When the waiter brought our check, he hovered over us to fill it out. And the booths are very uncomfortable. They believe that 6 can fit in a 4 person booth. read more

We stopped for an early dinner tonight. Sat at the bar. Bryson was awesome. Drinks were simple, wine and beer. Food was great. Cheese enchiladas,what I judge Mexican restaurants by, great flavor and the cilantro rice was sooo good. Husband got a red fish which he too loved. Tried his fried squash and I want it next time. We showed up at 5:30 on a Friday. Was told 15-30 min wait. Ended up being like 35-40 minutes. Not a big deal. I ordered the beef tacos. They were dry and bland. No salsa on them, no sauce, no crema. Just beef and some veggies. Tortillas were meh. Atmosphere felt like Vegas. Extremely loud and very hard for my father and I to be able to have a conversation. People at tables near us were basically yelling at each other. It's been about 5 hours since eating there and I'm sitting here feeling nauseous and bloated. I have a 7 year old; the kids menu wasn't in print anywhere, so I didn't know prices. The server quickly rattled off 3 items. My daughter wasn't interested in any of them. Overall, since I live in Argyle, I *may* go again, on a slower night (without my daughter) and order something different, but not rushing back and definitely not going if I'm wanting to have a catch-up conversation with a friend. read more

As one would expect from a Mart B restaurant, the atmosphere is very well done. A bit dark and loud for my taste, but very nice artwork and very comfortable seating. The service from start to end was excellent with several of the management team stopping by to talk with us and check on how we were being treated. The food is good and plentiful, but not great enough to support prices about 20% - 30% higher than the Mexican food restaurants we typically frequent. Our total bill for four adults was $110 with no beverages/cocktails. Might return for a special occasion but will likely not choose to frequent Cactus Canyon. read more

First Time at Cactus Canyon. The drinks were great so was the food. Herby our server, was excellent. He was personable, made recommendations for drinks and food, and was everything you'd want from your waiter, similar to a high end restaurant. The atmosphere is awful. Came in for the first time and the place is so dark you can't see, the music is so loud I can't hear a word the waiters are saying. It feels like a night club. You have to yell to each other at the same table just to hear what anyone is saying. I can only eat one item on the menu, so not sure about the food's rating. We took my mom here for Mother's Day weekend and the food was so good. Then had out of town company and went back tonight. It did not disappoint. We sat on the patio and Krisandra was our server. She was on it! Great recommendations and knowledge- the Asada was delicious and we love the enchiladas. The fresh tortillas and the warm chips Were on point. (Very important for me at a Mexican restaurant). It might be a little bit more expensive than other Mexican restaurants, but it's worth it! My uncle felt like it was the "best Mexican food he's ever had". (Oh, and try the ice cream cake) Highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Yes, yes & yes! Bring your patience ( I used my monthly allowance) because most times there will be a wait. Our wait was about 20 minutes for 2. Modern ambiance, friendly service and loud. I had the beef enchiladas and my wife had fajitas. All good! She liked the chicken better than the beef. I liked every bit of my generously stuffed enchiladas. We'll be back. read more

The food and service was average. The lighting was too dark. Many people needed their phone flashlights to read the menu. We were seated on the patio, ie wind tunnel. The price was high especially when a competitor has better quality/quantity at half the price. And the entrance to the restaurant based upon entrance to the parking lot seems like a huge design flaw. Tried the place for the first time, it looked pretty busy, so that was a good sign. Got seated without any real delay. The first thing that stood out was how dark it is inside, the (necessary) table lamps were just adequate enough to make out the menu. I ordered the enchiladas. I've never at anyplace needed a knife to cut a chicken enchilada. Tough as a boot. They pretty much missed the mark on that dish. The ambiance is pretty loud with the base from the music, kind of like eating at a disco or a bowling alley. The patio seemed nice at first, but it's not really a patio, it was just a covered room with no windows, and like an echo chamber. The kids that were allowed to run around and yell and scream kind of turned the patio into a McDonald's experience, that's what made me move inside. The dining experience was no where near the fine dining image they try to emulate. The price for what I got, I thought was a little far over the top. I will say this however, the service was top of the line, the floor staff worked really well as a team. If you had an empty glass, you don't have to wait on your server, any staff noticing you needing something, took care of it. The service was probably the best part of the experience. read more

Quite possibly my least favorite atmosphere of ANY restaurant I EVER been to. The food was acceptable, nothing special but at least it was 50% more expensive than other similar restaurants in the area. The seating was so tight that I was extremely uncomfortable throughout the meal. Add to that a blaring cacophony of noise through the loudspeaker system and oh my god, I couldn't get out of there fast enough! Felt like I was in a disco tech from the '90s in Europe. If you like blaring music where ZERO conversation is possible with people at YOUR table, then this is your kind of place! I have numerous clients from all over the world come to Dallas every week. When I run down dinner choices, I have always mentioned, Marty Bs and 1845, I had planned to add Cactus Canyon to that list. No longer! Not a single one of these 3 restaurants will ever be recommended again based on what I experienced tonight. You could not PAY me to return to Cactus Canyon! I wish there was a rating below one star to tell the truth of how painful my experience was. NEVER again! read more

The food was beyond fantastic! We had the filet fajitas, 5 layer ice cream cake, and a fresa fresh drink. What a great meal! The service was top notch also. The only thing I can say I didn't particularly love was how dark it was in the restaurant and wow was it crowded. But even with that we waited less than 30 mins for a table. Marty has done it again! My wife and I went to a 4:30 p.m. dinner one Saturday. There was a 10 minute wait...not bad for a Saturday. we were seated and my wife ordered a drink from the bar. The glass came with a big chip in the rim which we returned! Because of the price, we ordered the Fajita for two. It came however there were no serving pieces furnished. In fact we were told that they never furnish serving pieces with this Fajita -for-Two. They also acknowledged that they would be sure to do it in the future. Additionally it was very loud the whole time we were there. So, in short, it was not what I expected from a Marty-B's establishment! read more

Great food and great service. The waiter was extremely friendly and they have great drinks.

Food was descent. I did the stuffed poblano which seemed to be a great choice compared to my table mates. Margaritas were def lacking as you could tell they were just trying to go cheap and re-utilize the same ingredients over a couple different recipes. I had a mango margarita and def would not do again. The staff was training when I went, but no issues there. Main complaints were the prices (super high for what you get), and the proximity of the tables to each other (very tightly packed making it loud as it could be). The place looked nice, but for Tex-Mex I'll def go other places with better prices and drinks read more
