Social distanced tables outside in the small patio and a couple of two seater table on the sidewalk. The food was served quickly and was good. Good in the sense of fresh and okay. Not your elegant fare, but my wife's club sandwich was tasty. My garden veggie burger not home made again it was okay. The dressing they use is really good. Not bland 1000isle. Here is where they excel, the staff is super nice, the place is centrally located, and it's very clean. This COVID thing has changed everything and they are making due. I rarely give out 5 star reviews but I feel as though this establishment deserves it. First off, the ambiance and general vibe of this restaurant was pretty nice and although this doesn't hold as much weight in my heart when deciding my review, it is a nice touch. Secondly, the service was amazing. Our server was super friendly and he made our dining experience a lot more enjoyable. Last but not least, the food was exemplary. I ordered the breakfast burrito and I can't remember last time I had enjoyed eating breakfast that much. Exactly what we needed after a sunrise hike through Joshua Tree! I've never eaten more food at one setting. Hash browns are perfect- crispy brown on top with just a little softness beneath, not overly greasy. Eggs perfect. Good sourdough toast. Solid waffles. Great bacon and sausage. We live in Joshua Tree and just tried Cactus Trails for the first time. Absolutely loved it! It's a great breakfast place! We visited around 9:30am on a Sunday morning, so there was a bit of a wait, but when we left it was definitely much busier, so if you're not in the mood to wait earlier is better than later. Not a huge place, which is nice, and all the tables have booth seating, which is also great. Large tables, so if you're with a group, it's a comfortable place to eat. Very friendly staff and servers. I got the french toast combo and my husband got the eggs benedict with a coffee. Super good food, hot, and plenty of it! Overall, highly recommend visiting, and we'll be back for breakfast and we'll try out the lunch menu too. read more

This was my third time trying to eat at this place! I had gone a two times before but they were both closed! They had a cute patio seating area it was a bit cold and windy for a desert day (85 degrees) so my food got cold and my cutlery was flying away. I got the cactus omelette, with hash browns. The hash browns were delicious! A half order of biscuits and gravy, it was okay could have used a little bit of savory meatiness, it was mostly creme. A tall glass of cactus lemonade. The lemonade was eh I asked if it was made on site but tasted like possible country time mixed with something else. The waitress was very kind and service was great. I love this place so much! The food is great, I always get the chorizo potato tostadas when I'm able to go. It does get busy fast so the earlier you go, the better chance you'll get a table quickly. The gentleman who seems to run everything is super sweet and had great suggestions! He suggested huevos rancheros which was amazing 10/10 and the cactus omelet which I didn't get because I was nervous but I regret not getting it because i saw it and it looked really good!! Instead I got the southern omelet which was good too but it needed a little something so I used the leftover rancheros sauce for it and it made it perfect! :) over all a great little spot read more

Whatever u do, order a breakfast that comes w toast and substitute for a biscuit w gravy. Momma makes the biscuits from scratch every morning. Best I've ever had. The chkn fried steak was the 1st thing I tried. So yummy. Home fries are delish. Only complaint is that they're not crispy enough for me. Easily remedied tho. Just ask for xtra crispy. 2nd, I tried the hash n eggs. I expected the canned stuff(prob my fav brkfst). Of course that's made from scratch also. They were out of gravy but that's bcuz I went after 1pm. No complaints tho. These biscuits are good even without butter or gravy. This time I had the meat lovers omelet. Don't forget to ask for the salsa. Yep u guessed it. Momma makes that from scratch too. I had the red. Nice lil kick beware. Can't wait to try the green. I wanted to take a coffee cup home. If you're vegetarian and want a breakfast burrito as for one with cactus (nopal) and it's a very good size! I really liked their green salsa that came with the burrito. Went here for the first time yesterday, their food was great and came out really fast. Although there was a wait it didn't take too long, our waiter was Hailey and she was welcoming and very tentative to see if we needed anything. This place was INCREDIBLE! We stopped by on the way home, while there was a wait, it was completely worth it. We have been talking about the food since we left! And it has now been at least 3 days lol. Everyone was so kind and their coffee is HUGE! I completely recommend, and even want to go back.... But the 2 hour drive may be a bit excessive. First time @ Cactus Trails Cafe in TwentyNine Palms ! Okay I actually loved this place from start to finish. The ambience and build of the restaurant is so old timey and classic. The service was literally amazing, everybody was so friendly and accomodating. Now on to the grubbbb I ordered biscuits with country gravy and french toast with bacon on the side. Cactus omelet and hash browns were fantastic! We were camping on the east side of Joshua Tree National Park and decided to try a nearby local breakfast spot. The servers were friendly and checked on us often. One of them mentioned the cactus omelet was a popular item and that they cook the cactus fresh every day. The service wasn't fast to my city-life standards but I find this to be expected in smaller towns so no issue there. The omelet was made neatly and tasted like it had fresh veggies and good quality herbs. The hash browns were some of the best hash browns I've had! The potatoes tasted like real potatoes vs a bag of frozen lump. Perfectly crispy on the outside but still chewy on the inside. The coffee was nothing special, tasted like typical diner coffee to me but I loved the omelet with a side of salsa (had to ask) and definitely would order it again! Google maps led us to the back parking lot and the door looked like a back door which was a bit confusing but it served as an entrance to the restaurant. Bathrooms were clean as well. read more

In downtown 29 Palms. Very easy to find. It IS open for in-door seating. Service wasn't so great. Server didn't check on us after dropping off food. I asked for a refill on my water, finished eating and checked out without getting the refill. Food was Luke warm but good. They charge a 3.5% "customer service fee" unless you pay in cash. read more

Came in here twice. Both times were amazing. However, the second time I tried it was for my family. As my Double Bacon Cheeseburger with onion rings was amazing, my wife felt otherwise of her Cheeseburger and fries. The fries needed more flavor and so did the beef patties on the Cheeseburgers (according to my wife and son). Either way it would have been perfect had it not been for the fries. read more

Can't believe I've worked up here for 3 years and never heard of this place. This place is really good. I had a cheeseburger with fries. The rest of the party had cheeseburgers also and one had a chicken sandwich. We all loved our food. The price was good and no wait time. They do close early so make sure you get there at a good time. The customer service was great and the place was very clean. I will definitely be coming back here soon! read more

Man I am extremely disappointed. I live right down the road from this place. I always drive by and see how packed it is thus making me want to try it out. Finally decided to take some time out and go have breakfast. My son ordered two Belgium waffles with whip cream and no strawberries. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet with hash browns. My son was first served ONE waffle with strawberries. I explained he can't have strawberries, so she took it back and made him another one. As we waited for his, I was served a corned beef hash and cheese omelet with Sunnyside up eggs and hashbrowns. Nowhere near what I ordered. Then my son was brought out a plain waffle. Again only one waffle. I finally got my order straight and after I finished my food, my son finally got his 2nd waffle, again plain. The food was eh. I've had better, had worse. But this experience was highly disappointing after reading reviews and seeing how busy it is every weekend. Ill stick to Andreas restaurant around the corner. read more
