As a a new jewelry designer, the process of finding a manufacturing team that was able to bring my designs to life while lending their design expertise to the process, when necessary, was a very daunting one. After visiting 3 other companies with a particular design of mine and having them ALL fail, I was finally referred to Cad Cam NYC. After my first meeting with William, not only did I feel welcome and understood, I walked away feeling very confident that I had finally found the right team for me. Upon review of my CAD file, William immediately noticed that the piece I had designed was not only a bit complicated but also had a design flaw that I had unknowingly made. Unlike the previous manufacturers, who must have seen it but said nothing, he immediately pointed it out and offered a solution. That made an impression on me because it showed that not only does he know his craft, but that he actually cares about his clents' projects. William and his team made the entire process so easy, they were all so professional and were always there to answer my questions. I had one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had as either an individual or a business owner today. I submitted a quote request via email and after not receiving any acknowledgement of receipt or response for 2 days, I stopped in to the office to discuss my project (molding and casting of a set of 8 pieces for which I'd submitted CAD models, quantities, and mfg details) and RFQ in person. Upon arrival, I was directed to the sales manager, who was rude to me from the moment I sat down with him. I asked about my RFQ and he said he hadn't finished yet because he couldn't be bothered to dimension out the parts I'd sent - it was a waste of his time and salary (other casting houses I contacted were all either willing to do this or reached out to request other information to aid in quoting. I work with CAD software and this process should take no more than 5-10 mins). I gently confronted him about his customer service approach and tone with me and he said flat-out that he could give a shit about customer service and that he didn't need to be told how to do his job. As someone who works in manufacturing sales and engages in a similar capacity with business clients daily, I was absolutely appalled. I would never treat a customer with the complete disregard and disrespect I experienced. I have never written a review like this because I know how it can affect a business; that being said, this was absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. There are plenty of casting houses in this city who actually want to collaborate with their customers - take your money and time to one of them instead of CAD Cam NYC. read more

Not worth your time! Was looking for a jewelry designer to design a custom engagement ring and after a ton of research Cad Cam seemed to be everything we were looking for. We scheduled an in-person meeting to discuss our concept sketches/ design details and were extremely disappointed by the whole experience. Not only were we not impressed by the studio, the customer interaction from the staff and designers was horrible. We sat down for our meeting and the designer stared at us for several minutes until we decided to break the silence introducing ourselves and attempting to explain what we were looking for. We were quickly interrupted and told that they already knew everything from the 15 email exchange (which primarily discussed scheduling the meeting) and that the meeting was simply for us to ask them questions. They didn't ask us any questions about our concept sketches, ring size, diamond characteristics, etc. When we asked to see stones because we only knew what shape we wanted, we were told that they were not able to show us any stones for our ring design. They also told us at the end of the appointment that they did not need our business. As a designer myself I can attest that this is not how design meetings should go. We visited several other custom jewelers that day where we were able to look at stones and got all our design details figured out and our questions answered so it's safe to say there are much better suited jewelry designers in NYC than Cad Cam! read more

My fiance wanted an unusual stone - an opal - for her engagement ring. After some consideration and research, I hunted down a gorgeous black opal stone from Australia. The problem was that once I had found this beautiful stone, I quickly realized that no ordinary setting would do. I conceived of a design that would incorporate yellow diamonds and some detailed organic-looking gold leaves in the setting. Having already met with a couple of jewelers, I was ready to throw in the towel and my expectations could not have been any lower when I sat down to meet with Ashod at Cad Cam NYC. My concerns quickly faded as I saw the enthusiam he shared for the unusual piece of jewelry I had conceived, and brought his expertise to the table to discuss and iron out any practical concerns he had in order to take my concept from a sketch on paper to a wearable piece of jewelry. The end result was breathtaking. They did an amazing job, were attentive, extremely patient, professional, and reasonably priced. My fiance loves her one-of-a-kind ring, and anyone who sees it is awed, not just by the center stone, but by the beauty of the setting itself. I owe it all to Cad Cam.
