There are very few things I would risk the life of my wife to eat... Caesar's is one of those things! It may not be located in the safest of areas, but if you are lucky like me and have a wife with little to no regard for personal saftey.. you are in luck! I have two words for you... Fried Chicken and Spaghetti! I know that is more then 2 words... but I could not come up with a better way to start this. The fried chicken has a delectable outer crust and the moistest meat I have ever had. The breast meat was more moist then most other chicken places dark meet! The meal comes with fries or spaghetti. Once again this is where I have found the best wife in the world... she does not like the spaghetti.. so I get to eat all that AND enjoy some of her fries! I remember Caesar's WAY back in the sixties when they were this tiny little restaurant next to the train tracks near Bayfair Mall, back when there were TWIN DRIVE-INs! They had a thing on the menu called The Movie Box and it was tradition to go there for a couple of those then head to the drive in in our PJs to watch "Herbie the Love Bug" on the big screen! At least once a week we would dine in at the restaurant where Remy held court and stuffed us with great food. Red and white checkered table cloths, and I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, but maybe even empty Chianti bottle candle holders. Anyway. They are now strictly a Take Out location now across from Kennedy Park, and Remy and all of her Happy Meal Toys are gone. She would NEVER give them away, but she would TRADE once in a while. The chicken is still some of the best in the East Bay, but can run on the salty side from time to time. First time in after driving by a hundred times. Needed some chicken for lunch and the reviews were mostly good so I stopped. Had the 4 piece meal. One each breast, thigh, leg, and wing. All cooked perfectly and very tasty indeed. But the wing and leg must have been from some kind of miniature chicken. Microscopic in size. I docked a star for that. Sides were coleslaw, spaghetti, and French bread. All were pretty good too. The spaghetti was a surprise as a side, but actually pretty darn good and went well with the bird. I docked another star because this is really just a carryout place and I needed to eat in. They do have a couple folding tables and patio type chairs in there so I was able to do that, but not really what I had in mind. Also, they give you one of the cheapest, flimsiest, useless plastic forks you can buy. I hate that. Totally unusable. Spend a few cents more please and provide a fork you can actually use. There used to be two of them (one out on Tennyson and this one) and it has changed ownership a bunch of times, but still Awesome Chicken (and the spaghetti and raviolis are pretty good, too). I only tried their chicken once before, more than a decade ago, when my co-workers at the bank (oddly enough, the same one we stopped by tonight) insisted that Caesar's had the best chicken. I wasn't wowed or disappointed by the chicken. The chicken dinner had more chicken than I could finish. The chicken was crispy, but a little too salty for my taste; it went well with the sourdough bread. For $6.50, you get a lot - 4 pieces of chicken, bread, spaghetti, and coleslaw. It's a no frills place. You want fried chicken? You get fried chicken. This place is a helluva lot better than KFC, but it pales in comparison to Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in LA. Next time you're gonna go to KFC, Popeye's or Churches, take the trip over to Caesar's. Go old school. Try that retro bird. It's a winner. No powdered mash-po tay toes and biscuits doh. According to a genius man that loves food as much as I do... you gauge someones enjoyment of food by looking at their facial expression. With that said, I was smiling for a very very very long time. I must have passed by Caesar's a thousand times and never cared to stop. Today, I met up with some friends for lunch and needed to find a spot between San Leandro & Hayward, so Caesar it was. I ordered a four piece chicken with spaghetti, french bread and coleslaw which was enough for 3 people. Chicken was sensational! it was moist, tender and had crunchy skin (I couldn't resist eating them!) The spaghetti was alright, probably wouldn't order it again. What's cool is that you can order chicken in buckets of 10, 15, 20, 30 even 40! OMG! I suggest calling in your order and picking it up cause it's not the most ideal place to dine. They have two mid sized tables and benches for people waiting for pick ups and a television at the corner to kill time while you wait, which shouldn't be too long cause the folks here are very efficient. read more

My Sis had mentioned about this place serving goood fried chicken.. Been trying to get to this spot but kept on getting into some scheduling conflict... Finally today I stopped by on the way home from my class in the city as I picked up my wii from a family friend in DC.. The spot - 4 It's quite easy to find, plenty of private parking. It's practically across the street from Kennedy park. It's a take out spot so there's no dine-in seating. They have a tv for you to watch that's on an digital antenna that cuts in and out, which is sad given that they have a LCD HD. But we're here for the food so let's move on.. 10-piece meal - 4 It came with a few wings, drumb sticks, and thighs. The chick was moist and the skin is nice brown and still had a little crisp to it even after the trek home. As for flavor, the flavor was good and it was well taken by the drumbs and wings, but with all chicken they were not able to get their flavor to resonate though the thicker cuts. I was a little dissapointed that even the tight meat which is a flavorful cut lack flavor. The meal also came with spagetti which was surprisingly good! Which is why they got the 4 stars. The bread they gave I turned into garlic bread with my homemade garlic spread, thanks to my parents owning a italian restaurant in my younger day. Overall It sure beats KFC, churrch's, and poppey's. After watching Alton Brown's waffle show the other night I wish I had a waffle maker to pair this chicken up with and pour some maple syrup... Maybe next time.. read more

I am not a fan anymore. I remember when I used to work in the area and had lunch here. I guess my palate has changed of greasy, unhealthy bland chicken. I ordered the wings and its nothing spectacular. Three words: bland, oily, expensive The worst part is with the mirror within the kitchen you can see there laziness and bad hygiene. Best Fried Chicken!!! Back in the day my dad used to pick up this chicken on his way home from work because he liked it so much. I remember it was good, but honestly it was the late 70's and I was just happy we weren't eating tuna casserole. Fast forward 30 years to my niece's birthday party last month where my sister in law ordered a couple of trays for all. Holly freaking cow it was good!! The chicken is great, the only problem I have had is getting my complete order. The last 2 times they have shorted me the potato salad and coleslaw. I even asked before I left if everything was complete and they assured me it was. Getting back home to Dublin I found out it wasn't complete, then when I called it went straight to voice mail. Next time I go there, and I will. I will have them put everything in front of me before they wrap it. Caesar's Chicken is awesome! The new owner is up to speed and has brought some great service with her. They're now open 7 days a week, which is very nice. The old owners were barely ever open - well at least when I tried to go. The Chicken dinnner is a must have if you're into fired chicken. I've worked around Hayward for about 5 years now and was pretty surprised I've never tried Caesers. First off, the place is definitely more of a take out joint, the stand alone building has only 2 tables inside, and reminds me of the fried chicken version of E&J BBQ. I ordered the spicy 3 piece combo with spaghetti. It was alright. Maybe I was expecting something more from all the great Yelp Reviews, but to me, the skin was a bit too salty, and it was basically just fried chicken. The one nice thing is, the chicken is fried to order unlike fast food chicken places like KFC that leave it under hot lamps. The downside to this is, if you're hungry and take big bites of chicken, the scalding hot chicken juices will leave it's mark. read more

YUM. Although I have never eaten in the restaurant my Wife's family orders from here for family parties all the time! The fried chicken comes in a large tin foil tray just as if it was brought from someone's house! The chicken has a great combination of herbs and spices and fried to perfection. The fried chicken has a great crunch when you bite into it and the chicken is moist and juicy! I think I would eat Cesar's over KFC!!! If you get a chance definitely check out Cesar's Chicken. Another restaurant that holds warm memories of me and my father's outings. We use to go way back with the original owners. I use to think it was funny how my dad always referred to the "Grandma" as...."Grandma," but I guess way before he started bringing me she told him to call her that. Ordered the family pack. Chicken was 2-3 shades beyond golden brown but wasn't burnt. Nice crisp to it but the batter/coating was very salty. I like seasoning but my entire family had to take the skin off to enjoy the chicken, not exactly what I want in a FRIED chicken. Not that the skin is all that healthy for you but if in Rome. All the chicken was cooked properly and juicy, even after getting home 20 minutes later there was still juices coming out of the breast meat. Flavor of the chicken we very good. I just wished the skin wasn't soooo salty. I wonder if this is typical or just that I got a batch that they poured too much salt in. We got the raviloi's and I must admit I loved these. I upsized to the quart size. I don't know that they make it fresh but the meat raviloi's are just like the one's I get at Joe's in Westlake, meat and spinach style. Done just right and they come with a meat sauce that's full of meat, amazing that they could do this at the price we paid. I would have to say this made up, somewhat, for the excessively salty chicken. Great value, spent $26 to feed a family of 5 (teenagers and a college student) with left overs. Wanted to come check this place out after thinking that this place reminded me of Los Pollos from Breaking Bad. No Gus Fring to be found here! Pretty good value for the amount of food you get. Not the best fried chicken I've ever had, but definitely hits the spot when I'm craving it. Definitely better than KFC. Had fries and spaghetti as well, which were pretty standard. Really well seasoned fried chicken! The colonel and his 11 herbs and spices has nothing on Caesar's! Chicken tastes great and is very juicy! In fact they don't fry it until you order it! Chicken comes out piping hot. As soon as you walk in, the smell is enough to make your mouth water! Prices are really cheap and you get a lot. Go for the Movie Box. It's 2-3 pieces of chicken, a side of fries or spaghetti with meat sauce, and a piece of bread for about $8. The worst part of the place is that they don't have much of a dining area, just a couple of tables. This makes the drive home excruciatingly long as your car fills up with the smell of chicken. Setting: Very moms and pops, very cute little place. There's some cool artwork of celebrities on the walls, plus autograph photos of them too. Plus a TV. And the smell was very inviting, even from the outside. Once you smell the food, you're automatically 10x hungrier! Food: Only had the chicken so far, but it is yummy! It seems simple enough, fried chicken, some spices (of course I'm not a cook so what do I know! :), but somehow they pack all that flavor in those things! Very yummy.
