I sent Naim a picture of the cake that i saw on pinterest, and it came out better than i could have imagined. I also went to a different bakery before going there, and they wanted to charge me 3 times what Caesar charged me!! The cake itself not only came out looking amazing, but it's the best red velvet cake i have ever tasted! While I think this is a solid 4 star and maybe 5 star pastry shop for Middle Eastern pastry, I think what solidifies the 5 Stars is the service you get. Dude with the redbeard is focused, aware of surrounding and very helpful in getting you served. PROS: -They have pretty good cheese sandwhiches with the sweet syrup. Called Kunafeh Jebni, or something? Maybe a bit sweet this time with the inside filling. (Pro Tip: Don't get the sweet syrup on the sndwhich. Take it home, toast it in a oven or toaster to get top and bottom nice and crisp, and then pour the syrup, THEN eat it. If you eat it there, have them toast it.) -The Paklavas are really GREAT! CONS: -None This place is what Vrej Pastry down the street could have been. From what I understand the chef here used to work at Vrej. (So I have heard?) THIS PLACE IS SIMPLY AMAZING! I called in to see if they could make a half-cake for my nephew's birthday. They automatically had me text a screen shot picture of what I wanted of a cake I saw on Pinterest and let me tell you, they went above and beyond and created the cutest baseball themed half cake for my nephew's 6 month birthday. Not only was it cute but it was delicious! And the fondant they used wasn't too sweet and almost like a marshmallow type of texture which was great because I actually enjoyed eating it. On Monday, July 23rd, 2018, I came in to get a cake. Since I had forgotten to get a cake at my usual place for a coworkers birthday, I needed a place that was close by to my office. So, on to trusty Yelp I went. This place had stellar reviews so how could my fellow Yelpers be wrong?! First, off let me say this place is so cute. Lots of pastries and cakes. Mostly specializing in Mediterranean sweets. When I walked I was greeted with a smile and hello by the woman working there. I went straight for the cakes. I went with the smallest cakes they had (I think 8") all starting at $18. There was chocolate mousse, raspberry, or mocha. I went with the mocha since it's one of my fave flavors and it was so pretty. Even before I paid she gave me a little bird's nest pastry. Fast forward to when I get to my office. I felt like the cake might not be fresh. The frosting was thick and didn't give when I touched it. Like when a cake is sitting in the fridge too long and the fresh frosting is not easily moved. I thought maybe it was just me but when I ate the slice I was easily put off by the taste. The cake was so pretty but not edible. It tasted dry and a bit tough at the edges. I swallowed it but not even the frosted layers could help it. I thought it was just me, but then my other coworkers complained to me too. I'm never one to ever complain. Most of the time I let things go, but the customer service when kindly talking about the cake when I called put me off. I've worked in the food industry and I understand how it works. If a customer is not happy, then you find out why. You either offer to replace the product, offer a refund, or both. Now because this place is a mom and pop kinda place, I wasn't expecting a refund. I was expecting maybe to be offered something else. When I called, I told her the cake tasted dry. So she asked me if I could take her the cake, which I did. While wearing a glove, she stuck her fingers in the cake and continually told me it isn't dry. I told her even if she thought the cake wasn't dry, it didn't taste good. She continued to argue her case that they make cakes fresh everyday. I didn't believe her with 15+ cakes in the display because no one makes fresh cakes everyday unless you have a high turnover which I doubted and since it was a mom and pop kinda place they would lose money. Maybe they make their slices fresh but not a whole cake. I really didn't argue about getting my money back. But then she stared to insinuate that maybe I didn't like the cake because I didn't like mocha. I was started to think the lady was off her knocker. Again, I normally never complain. I'm bad at arguing but she insisted to tell me that the cake wasn't dry and that I didn't like mocha. After all that she just gave me my money back ($18) because she said she would have to talk to the pastry chef about the cake. Before leaving I told her that they had really good reviews but probably just for the pastries. I told her if I ever come back, it will probably be just for the pastries. Loved this hidden Gem! I'm a huge fan of middle eastern deserts. And typically stick to Sarkis only because it's closer to home and delicious compare to most places. But I made it a point to check out this place since I was in the area and I've been following them on IG for quite sometime. Boy... I'm so happy I checked them out! So upon entering I was greeted by the owner and his daughter. Very nice to be acknowledged! Visually, their pastries and selection of different Baklava's were beautifully showcased. And the store was clean. Back to the owner and his daughter. They were very nice people and get 100% for customer service alone. They helped me with narrowing down my selection. Which was hard to do because everything looked so good. I was also happy when the owner shared the news of a new store front in the works. He shared that it'll be located in Ontario. (Which is closer to home for me.) Yay!! Now the real test was when I got home and shared these goodies with my family. And needless to say everyone loved them and wanted to know where I bought these goodies from because we all enjoyed them way more than Sarkis. I loved that they're so generous with the nuts too! So for sure I'll be returning to try more goodies. Definitely worth the drive in my books. At this point my only complaint is that they're not closer to my home, yet! Lol. read more

This past Friday, my boyfriend was looking for a last minute place to pick up a birthday cake and I happened to find this place on Yelp. He then came home with one of the best cakes I've ever eaten! He got a $22 Strawberry Shortcake cake. I don't know the exact size BUT it is safe to say it can easily serve at least 10-12 people depending on the size of the slices served. I loved that it wasn't too sweet and the strawberries tasted fresh. The hint of coconut at the bottom of the cake was a nice touch as well because it gave the cake another texture. It was that good that we all literally had to grab a second slice because one was not enough. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to go there in the future to grab some pastries and/or cakes. Can pick up up a cup of coffee and have their delicious kneffeh.
