On a Wednesday afternoon, I Purchased a strawberry cake, and of course I was crossing fingers that this would be a fresh cake, it was not.. not only was this cake dry and flavorless.... It tasted like it had been in the fridge for a while. I tried their cheesecake also... it was not horrible.. but I would not purchase from the strawberry cake or the cheesecake with strawberry. We come here anytime we are in the area, we live in Pasadena, and are so impressed with the quality of the pastries and the friendly owner and staff who run Caesar's Pastry. All of their baklava, cookies and sweets are made with the highest quality and you can really tell the difference between their pastries and any other place. The baklava snaps and cracks like no other place, it's buttery but sweet but not overly sweet. The cookies are so fresh, the pistachios are so creamy and fresh, the honey is just the right amount of sweetness. They really have mastered the art of pasties her and we will drive all the way from Pasadena to come here. The owner Caesar is so incredibly friendly and always gives us samples out of the kindness of his heart. My fiancée and I have met his wife, son, daughter and their colleague Ramia who works with them. Every time we stop by they are always so welcoming, even though they see so many people everyday they always take their time to remember something we talked about last time we were in, very impressive. We love this place so much that we bought all of our pastries for our wedding here. Ramia took so much time with our order, helped with suggestions and make sure that everything was right for our wedding day, she is incredible! Stopped by last night with my sister who had been craving baklava for some time now. I had tried baklava in an Armenian bakery in Glendale and never liked it because it was very dense and super sweet. That's not the case with this baklava. It's super light and not over bearing with the sweetness. I was hooked! We ordered a pound and we are down to the last pieces today. It's that good! We also ordered their fruit tarts and their caramel hazelnut cheesecake and they couldn't have been more delicious. The cheesecake was just perfect. I didn't get to try the fruit tarts because we shared with our family but they were gone so fast. We will definitely be back to order more soon. We really appreciated their customer service as well. Stumbled across this bakery while on a coffee break at Starbucks. I will never say no to a bakery. It's a Middle Eastern bakery, according to one of the employees. We got a variety of things. I got some butter cookies by the pound, some pistachio baklava, some fried plantain pastry filled with walnuts and a date-filled something. The last two items were for my friend to take home. We were in line to pay when a customer said that we should try this brown cake looking thing on display next to us. When someone recommends something, I am quick to try it. It was really unique looking. It looked like a thin brown layer cake. I thought that was it. But apparently you can get a sesame bread, slice it open and put the brownish cake looking thing inside. It was not a brown cake. It was cheesy and very soft in texture. While we were in line, a man who I presume was the owner handed out a piece of baklava to the customers. My friend who claims that she doesn't like baklava said she loved this one. I had to agree. It was less sweet than others and the phyllo dough was the perfect amount. Some put so much dough that you kind of choke on it. So the sandwich thing is called a knafeh and it's a sweet cheese pastry. It was very delicious. I had never tried this before. It's a little sweet and also a little salty from the cheese. The texture is very soft and kind of melts in your mouth. Apparently, this is eaten as breakfast. The service was excellent, and the employees were very kind and helpful. The bakery items were all fresh and delicious. Give this place a try to satiate your sweet tooth! Oh and give the knafeh a try too! read more
