I got brunch on a Sunday morning and it was very easy to get a reservation. We sat upstairs on the outdoor patio. It was so wonderful and relaxing. It started to sprinkle rain just slightly in the middle of brunch and they pulled the glass walls and ceiling to cover the patio area so it felt almost like a greenhouse. The service was warm and friendly! We got the beignets to start, which were super warm and fresh, came with six in a serving with a side of warm chocolate sauce to dip. For my main, I got the smoked salmon English muffin Sammy. It consisted of a butter-grilled english muffin, herbed goat cheese, smoked salmon, red onion, tomato, arugula, capers, bacon, and breakfast potatoes on the side. I loved the sandwich itself and all the toppings on it, but I honestly wish I would've swapped the breakfast potatoes with something else. The potatoes were kind of soggy, soft and not very seasoned, and I usually prefer crispy breakfast potatoes. My boyfriend got the patatas bravas bowl which came with breakfast potatoes, chorizo, shredded pork, green tomatoes, paprika sauce, roasted garlic aioli, over medium eggs, cheddar, feta, and grilled tortillas. This was a larger portion and looked very filling! Most things on the menu had a drink pairing, which I liked to see a lot. I'll have to go back for dinner and try something else with a drink pairing. Third Ward may be the best part of Milwaukee. There. I said it. So far- each bar, each restaurant has shown up with either its own authenticity and surprised and delighted us or has given us a service/memory we won't forget. Yay! Rooftop seating to spend a spontaneous evening to catch up with my sister from out of town . Today I found out today from our server that you can request an entree be split in 2 and plated separate in the kitchen which is wonderful, because half of the skewers dish is a meal of itself, or if you don't want to go the appetizer route. Stopped in for lunch on the rooftop. Fabulous rooftop area with nice views! I had the bacon havarti chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was good, the sauce had a lot of flavor. The chicken piece itself was a bit smaller and thin. The sweet potato fried were also good. However our server was not great. We got there and patio was empty, it filled in quick. The four tables near us that had our server were all frustrated. She was not very attentive. Issues with food, not getting ketchup, and not coming back to take order timely. When we tried to flag server down to pay bill she firmly gave us her index finger as a one moment but the gesture and facial expression was not well received by my friend who was facing her. Dog friendly massive covered patio was amazing and a good scene overall! Also love a comfortable patio chair and these were great! Our server was super sweet too! She apologized off the bat saying they were down a member last minute and honestly you wouldn't even know it at all. Food was great! Second time here and I always love it. First visit was for dinner and this time I came for weekend brunch with a friend. We went during graduation weekend so it was super packed, but I'd say make a reservation regardless because this place fills up fast. The space is super spacious with a great indoor dining area, a nice bar, and an outdoor patio. Really versatile for groups/occasions. Our server was super accommodating and friendly. I ordered a vegetarian bowl that came with runny eggs and it was really good. Also got a vanilla latte that came with a cute little chocolate on the side. Located in the Third Ward, to eat at this restaurant, street parking is available. The seating area is very nice and love that they have an outdoor area, too. This is one of my top brunch places in Milwaukee, as it never fails to disappoint. They were able to accommodate for a large group of people, taking reservations, which made it as the perfect place to start our day. They have indoor and outdoor seating options, both on the rooftop and on the ground level. In terms of food and drinks, I finally got to try their malone bloody mary and can honestly say this is my new favorite bloody mary in the milwaukee area! I love a spicy bloody and it had the perfect amount of spice to it, of course with the fun toppings too. Their turkey pesto sandwich and bacon chicken havarti sandwich were phenomenal. We actually had breakfast, walked around and returned to try their cocktails because we saw the menu during breakfast and just had to come back!! I love Negroni cocktails so when I saw it on their cocktail menu and noticed it featured an orange citrus gin I was excited to try it out! I was in love with this slight variation in the classic recipe. It was just a tad bit sweeter than if made with a traditional gin, and I liked it! A lot!!! I appreciated that it was made with care and served with one large ice cube, making it cool but not too cold which might mask the great flavors! My boyfriend had the Wandering Traveler, another gin cocktail. This one was very refreshing, bringing out the flavor of crisp gin and bright bubbly lemon raspberry. What a cool place! I would hands down do this again. We decided to treat ourselves to a dinner at the Domes at Benelux. They were so cute and comfy, with a heater in the dome (which we found to be a little TOO warm so we cracked the door - not sure if that's something that could be adjusted). There was a speaker for us to connect our phones to play our own tunes as well. Each dome seats up to 8, and your reservation gives you 1.5 hours, 8 drinks (we got red sangria for the adults and hot chocolate for the kids), and 8 Domes at Benelux mugs to take home. It's pricy though. I think our weekend reservation was like $150, and then we spent another $150 on food. Service was friendly, and it seems like most people just do this for drinks and apps, because we had to ask for a food menu. read more

An evening at Café Benelux was an evening well spent. I was a first time visitor recently, and didn't realize this is purportedly a tourist restaurant. I'm a local, but I enjoyed it anyway lol. Dinner began with a friend-recommended strawberry kiwi daiquiri, a cocktail I'm not used to drinking. I found it delightfully refreshing but better suited to a hot day up on the roof. Which reminds me, the one disappointment of the entire evening was that there was a private event up on the roof, so the dining globes were unavailable. Back to what was good! I thoroughly enjoyed my Pedal Pusher burger, and appreciated that it was cooked as ordered. Frites we were spectacular, as anticipated. Service was positively stellar! The staff is great and they have a wide selection of beers from around the world and most are on tap! My go to meal these days is the burger paired with the Holland IPA. Visited Café Benelux for Sunday Brunch around 1:30! This place seems to always be busy with its fun rooftop, cool interior, and front patio seating. I would highly recommend making a reservation if you want to sit on the rooftop as there was a much longer wait for up there. We did have to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table but noticed many open tables upon arrival. Once sat, we ordered a round of drinks and our food to still meet the 2pm brunch menu cut off. My friend got the Pineapple Passion Mule which was perfect for a sunny, patio day! I ordered the BELT & A Sandwich which the kitchen forgot to add the bacon! Our server was very surprised and immediately went to fetch me a side to add. There wasn't much given but it was cooked how I requested it. Benelux is part of the Lowland Group that owns several other restaurants including, Cafe Hollander, Cafe Centraal, Buckabaton. They are all unique, but feel similar in many ways. Benelux is in the heart of the Third Ward, kitty corner from the Milwaukee Market. It's a big place, that doesnt necessary feel that way. They have seating on the sidewalks, inside, and on the roof balcony. Lots of spots with different points of interest. Got here on a Saturday morning, 10am and they were already filling up. Wanted something a bit more quiet so took a spot on the rooftop. Not much shade in some spots, so bring sunscreen. We had a nice view of the streets below. Got served with menu and waters. Our server did a great job the entire time (thanks Haley). Ordered a Chai Latte (extra foam) and the Hibiscus Yogurt Fruit Bowl. The chai was very good, made right and served in a china cup. The yogurt came out a little later, and that was fresh, flavorful, and good portion. The other folks were equally pleased to. It was a very good experience (as it usually is). My wedding weekend was here & my Groomsmen & my dad wanted a great brunch near the hotel in 3rd Ward. Knew Cafe Benelux was on my top 3 choice. The guys all loved it. I got the Sausage Quiche & it was phenomenal for a lighter fare bc I had a light breakfast 2hrs before. My one friend got a chicken sandwich & he loved it so much he came the next morning. My groomsmen loved the Bloody Mary's. I then came back with my then wife the next morning for lunch after the wedding. Loved it again. I got the Hodge Podge & boy was it filling & delicious. While I don't get Hangovers, this meal would have been ideal for any of my guests who did have one. My wife got the Salmon Smoked Sammy & it was great & light.
